My family of 4 often goes to Celebration Lakeside to walk/bike ride around it on Friday evenings, especially in the spring and fall when it's slightly cooler outside. We have had this tradition for a few years now and it is something we greatly enjoy. Oftentimes, I like to stop inside Kilwins to grab a milkshake to drink as we walk. It's a special treat for me! The staff inside Kilwins is almost always friendly and helpful! Every so often, they seem slightly annoyed when they have people come in but for the most part, they have a smile on their faces (well, I assume because I can see it in their eyes when they are wearing masks). Was here for the Celebration fall festival and the kids wanted ice cream. There was a line, but it moved quick and the employees behind the counted were moving and shaking (ALL WITH A SMILE). It was refreshing to see people who were busy, but seemed to be having fun and enjoying their job. I ordered a vanilla malt and it was delicious with lots of malt in it. Most places don't add enough for my preference, but they had a great blend. Both of the kids had a superman ice cream cone, but they put it in a cup for me so less of a mess. The staff was polite and very friendly the area was welcoming however I see a small issue with the cross contamination for customers who have severe peanut and tree nut allergies. Using one scoop for the ice creams is not great though they did offer to sanitize and clean it before using and keeping the ice cream that uses tree nuts and peanuts to one side instead of mixing it with the other types of ice cream to reduce cross contamination would be good for those who would love to indulge in the ice cream especially if accommodations were made prior to their experience. While there are a few sweet shops in downtown Celebration, Kiliwins is the biggest with the widest selections. Kiliwins is a national chain and I find that this location is just eh. It's overpriced (not their fault but still incredibly pricey just to get a family some ice cream) and I find their homemade chocolates aren't that good. If you really need something sweet, it's there but nothing special really. The one thing on the menu I do recommend is their sorbet drink that they mix with sprite. Super refreshing and delicious. We were close by at a restaurant and passed this location on our way to and from the restaurant, so we made it a point to hit them before heading out. They offer more than just ice cream, so if you prefer chocolates, fudge or sweets in general, you'll probably find something to satisfy you here. I opted for a small cup of chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup. I'm a classic purist when it comes to sweets. Staff was quick and friendly moving everyone in the line. Check out was smooth. I should know as I often wish their was an Adult-sized leash that I could put on my girlfriend whenever she gets near this place! I will confess that I am not a chocoholic, but I certainly enjoy looking at all of the delicious treats that this confectionary store puts out on display. She-who's-name-must-not-be-mentioned will literally press her face to the glass of the display cases and let out little whimpers of joy as she carefully inspects each tiny morsel of chocolately goodness. Kilwin's is part of a nationwide chain, although this particular store feels very much like a one-of-a-kind old world chocolatier and confectionary store found on Main Street USA. You can stand there and watch as they pour out the vats of homemade fudge onto marble tables, and then work their magic. Looking around the shop, you'll find all kinds of truffles, caramels, toffees, and artisanal chocolate goodies along with a wide variety of flavors of saltwater taffy. You'll often see caramel apples, caramel corn, chocolate-dipped pretzel sticks, Twinkies, Oreos, marshmallow puffs and Krispie treats. (My teeth are starting to hurt!) The smell of the fresh-baked waffle cones is intoxicating, and I usually order a scoop of one of their incredible ice cream flavors in a waffle cone, and take it outside to eat at one of the wrought-iron café tables. You can also order shakes and sundaes. I certainly do enjoy stopping here after a long afternoon of wandering through the town and roaming the stalls of one of their weekend festivals. The smellllll is intoxicating. You can't walk by craving sweets and not walk in here. All of the cases and shelves filled with glorious candy and chocolate covered everything... it's hard just to look. I was on a mission when I entered this location: Ice Cream. There we some great flavors to choose from but my eyes were attracted to the Carmel Swirl. YUM! However, it was not good in the least. It tasted frost bitten and old. I was soooo sad. I should have listened to my heart and went with the never failing chocolate covered pretzels. The staff was okay, it was Easter Sunday so it was very busy, props to them for manning the crowd. My husband loves sweets so I just knew we were gonna stop here and spend some cash. First, they do have double doors, which is nice for this mom of twins and a double stroller. Unfortunately, the second door was locked. At first I was just gonna hang with one of our kids and the stroller by the door and let him go in with the other twin. The sales girl saw but didn't offer to open the door till my husband and asked. I felt totally rushed and didn't get to really look at all of what they offered bc she was in our face the entire time. I got a child's cup and it was so tiny. For $4 I thought it would be equivalent to one scoop. My husband picked up some kettle corn that was $10. They did have samples of fudge out but no label of what it was. The flavor? I asked the blond sales girl where napkins were and she pointed to the wall. I do not get down to Disney's pixiefied town of Celebration often, if at all. However, during the Christmas time I like to drive around and look at the spectacularly lit homes. Of course, no visit to Celebration is complete without a little stroll along the lakeside promenade and take in the beautiful horse drawn carts or the pure stench of horse dung. All that walking, and lights, and people, and horse manure, combined with a nice stiff December wind makes me a little parched. In true Disney fashion, magically appeared a refreshment destination. Kilwin's Chocolate and Ice Cream store could not have been at a more opportune location, at one end of the promenade. Walk, get thirsty, stop, refresh. The pure smell of chocolate and waffle cone beckons. Walking through those doors is exactly what I imagine heaven to smell like ..... or a manger horses and all. With so many people frantically working different stations to spin magic into tiny little morsels of goodness, it almost feels eff like. Nevertheless, the genuine hospitality was felt even though the place was packed. Smiling and nodding effs! In all seriousness, no more Disney and Christmas references. This is a really exquisite and friendly store. A cup of hot cocoa, rum raisin and butter pecan ice cream waffle cone is just what the season called for. The hot cocoa was thick with a foam that just would not melt. The marshmallows adds that element of togetherness. After all, what is hot cocoa without marshmallows? Sprinklings of sweet chocolate on top was a nice delicate touch. The heat level was perfect from the first sip to the last. Crisp, sweet, fragrant waffle cone acted as the perfect cradle for the creamy rich ice cream. What better Christmas present? I need to make this trip more often. read more

I used to live off of Kilwins in Ann Arbor and Jacksonville and since I do not live in either place any longer, I get really excited when I run into a Kilwins. We have visited many Kilwin's locations throughout Florida and it is always a treat. They have a large assortment of ice cream flavors and a large assortment of fudge, chocolates and candies. On this day we tried a cappuccino chocolate chip shake and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. While the ice cream doesn't quite measure up to our favorite (Blue Bell), it is quite tasty. The cappuccino chocolate chip had a nice and not overpowering flavor. The shake could have been a little more thick but it was very good and I'll return for another one.
