Needed a sweet treat after a late lunch and it definitely hit the spot. They have a wide selection of ice cream to choose from and the fudge options were endless! We were greeted as soon and we walked in the door and the team was very friendly. The store is very clean and we sat inside to enjoy our treat. There is also seating right outside as well. We limited ourselves to just a couple of items though. This store is located on one of the large plazas on Main Street towards the north side of downtown. This little shop has been in Greenville for five years and I have managed to overlook it somehow because it is attached to the Hyatt. We found it just walking by and decided to step inside. I was immediately reminded of the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Park City, Utah. They are similar concepts, high end varieties of caramel covered apples, home-made fudges, chocolates and ice cream. This is a great find since I used to fly home from business trips to Utah with a "to go" box for my wife with a salted caramel apple or some other variety and now we can just go downtown to Kilwins. The only drawback is that it is $7.00 for a caramel apple. But they are really delicious. They will also cut the apple up for you so it is more convenient to share and to eat. This is probably a great spot for a date night, special dessert. read more

Kilwins is an occasional indulgence for me. The price tag can be pretty hefty, but there's nothing like walking into a chocolate shop while watching candy apples, fudge, or chocolate covered strawberries being made firsthand. Kilwins is definitely a must-stop shop for teachers' gifts. Teachers are always excited to see Kilwins packaging. Valentine's Day, we order long stem chocolate strawberries. I usually give 1/2 dozen to all of the teachers and it seems to be the highlight of their day. If you preorder early, you can usually save around $3 a dozen. Custom Gifts - the chocolate covered Oreos are perfect if you want something personalized. We've had custom Clemson, Halloween, and birthday cookies made. Super cute and always a rave! This place has the Rolls Royce of ice cream! I was in Greenville for only 2.5 days. Kilwins and I exchanged money for ice cream at least 3 times! That poor young lady got a good workout digging out samples for me on my 1st visit. Then, I hit pay dirt! She gave me a sample of their signature "Greenville Mud". OMG! I left Greenville Fat-N-Happy. They have a vast selection of other chocolates and candies, but I never made it past the ice cream freezers... :-) A bit on the pricey side, but you only live once. I absolutely love this place! It has some of the best ice cream ever, and the employees were pleasant and attentive. My only issue is on the sanitation side. There were 3 employees; 1 male and 2 females; all with very long hair. Surprisingly, the guy was the only one with his hair pulled up into a tight bun, and he had on a hat. However, the 2 young ladies both had their hair in 2 ponytails, hanging over their shoulders toward the front. Here's where my issue comes in. When they both would bend over to dip ice cream, their hair would go into the ice cream tubs!! NO one wants hair in their delicious ice cream! I really think this needs to be addressed. I would have said something, but fortunately the guy waited on us, otherwise I wouldn't have bought anything. read more

This place reeks of sugar and chocolate ... in a good way! Hubster and I took a walk with baby on N. Main Street and headed north instead of south for the first time together (north of College St.). The weather was hot and I was craving something cold to cool me down. I opted for their non-ice cream, non-shake, non-chocolate choices, however, and ordered a mango/raspberry cooler (not sure if it really was called a cooler). It was definitely refreshing and did not leave me with a heavy, overwhelmed feeling in my stomach. I have had their ice cream and shakes in Florida before and know that they are yummy. I usually try to keep an eye out for marzipan products, but unfortunately, this location did not have any. One of the things that keeps me from making frequent trips are the prices though. My only gripe is it's a bit pricey for anything other than a special occasion. I try to visit local candy places wherever I go so I do have something to compare. There are lots of ice cream places on Main Street, but this one is my consistent favorite, even though it's a few steps above the higher traffic areas. Somehow, the ice cream tastes better and the store feels friendlier. Certainly, I prefer the selection of flavors. What a cute little dessert shop. We got my nephew some Superman ice cream (I think that's what it was called) he loved it. I love homemade fudge so I got me some dark chocolate fudge a d omg was it delicious. As I remember growing up here how everyone is friendly. The shop had these tables outside that you can sit on and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I am a people watcher so I enjoyed that. Downtown has hanged so much since I visited last and definitely since growing up here. Lots of shops, living and garages. Definitely take time to view everything and walk around. read more

Very nice place! We stopped in to beat the heat while visiting from California. They have so many delicious looking chocolates and fudge treats, but we are wimpy Californians and needed an ice cream. Everything here is ridiculously delicious! I really like the fudge. It's made fresh there. I love the location...I can get my goodies and up to my room in the Hyatt.
