While my dad would go to the Lake Forest Quickstand for specialty magazines, he would let my brother and I run next door and grab a cookie. For him, I am sure it was a way to keep us out of his hair, but for us it was a special treat that we always looked forward to. Nice little chocolate and cookie shop in a strip mall. I decided to check it out and buy a surprise for my partner. Service was spot on. Was greeted by the owner as I walked in and then he handed me a cookie. I wasn't going to get cookies before I walked in but after that one, I decided to get some. The snickerdoodles and choc chip pecan cookies were great. I also ordered some truffles and chocolate covered stuffs. The chocolate itself was good. I enjoyed the peanut butter truffles. But I also got some chocolate covered pretzel logs which is one of my favorites and sadly, the pretzels were stale, and not just a little either. :( My other complaint is the prices were not displayed on most items. A family member again had requested some fudge so naturally I came back to the Chocolate Shoppe, and today was another 5-star visit. This time, I got to taste a bit of the fudge for myself and it was wonderful. I also had another one of the cookies which was better than before, as well as a chocolate covered pretzel. It was busier today than last time I visited but that didn't stop the staff from getting everyone their items and on their way. Due to the wait time, however, in peeping around at some of the items I noticed something I failed to mention during my last visit. The items here, as in most confection stores, tend to be on the pricier side. It's not a drawback, but it makes it one of those "special occasion" places. Certainly worth it, though.
