Had a hankering for some fudge. Read some reviews and thought I'd give Kilwin's a try for the first time . Yes, they have a "Buy 2, get 1 free" deal, but their fudge is $21 a pound! So the deal isn't quite as good as it sounds. Anyway, I don't think I'll be going back. It's not just the price; it's the process. I just spent almost $30 and most of my fudge did not seem fresh!! It may have been, but didn't taste it. And I think it's because they cut up their pans into half pound wedges that sit in the display case till somebody buys them. Because of this , the fudge gets dry and crusty a 1/2" all around the perimeter and doesn't taste smooth and fresh. Even if it is relatively fresh, unfortunately. Most fudge stores keep the fudge in the pans and cut as they are purchased. I don't understand why they don't do the same here. So, if you're looking for smooth, creamy, & dreamy fudge, this, unfortunately, isn't it. read more

It's a chain but fits nicely into the charm of seaside Hyannis. It has intoxicating smells of sugars in form of caramels, chocolates, and waffle cones filling the air. The cones are made fresh on site and as my youngest gleefully said "are supper yummy!" I shared a Kilwin's tracks which had a nice balance of ice cream and chocolate peanut bits. Everything in the store looks so perfectly made and molded. Seating is mostly outside(but only a few tables). It's my Favorite ice cream store now. I just went to the one in Denver, Colorado 2 weeks ago. When you can't decide between having your ice cream in a dish or a waffle cone, get the waffle bowl. Great ice cream shop in main street Hyannis. Been to others around the US and they never disappoint. The aroma is so intoxicating in and outside the store. They have so much chocolate and ice cream and all so good. Stopped in for some ice cream and was not disappointed. Tried a local place first, but they only had a board with their flavors and no case to look at the actual ice cream, so my son decided to go somewhere else. Honestly, the best ice cream I've probably ever had... in my life! Super tasty and flavorful. The shop was very spacious and clean, and the woman helping us was really sweet. We got 2 large ice creams to go - All-American Two Berry Pie, and Marsh-Mallow S'more. They were both rich and delicious, with savory mix-ins (sugared pie crust in the all American, and chocolate covered graham crackers in the s'mores). Can't wait to visit again to try more flavors! My only complaint was that I feel like I got ripped off on quantity. Just strolling by and stumbled upon this place and I thought I was in for a local treat but turns out Kilwins has a ton of locations all over the US but this is the only one in MA. You will notice the fudge making area when you first enter but as your eyes follow down the store past the selection of fudge and chocolate treats, you'll see the ice cream section in the back. They don't have a huge selection but I had a difficult time making a decision because there weren't any flavors that were outstanding or very different from what I have had and I've had some weird flavors like lobster and butter ice cream in Maine. Another downside is they didn't have a menu up on the wall so we had to peek over, back and forth, through all the stations and that was taking too much time as the people behind us were waiting and stepping closer giving us less space to look. I felt a little rushed by the guy at the counter even though he wasn't saying anything so we came up with scoop of caramel scoop of strawberry chunk which was pretty good, very smooth and not too sweet. I wasn't a fan of the caramel but that's a personal thing because caramel to me is overly sweet. One cool thing is that they display a list of all their location on the back of their napkins however, if I am traveling and come across a Kilwins, I don't think I'll go for it, well maybe to try some chocolates I guess. The ice cream is good however not exciting. I'd rate it 3 1/2 stars. read more

So its a chain and its on the spendier side for ice cream, BUT KILWINS IS SOO GOOD! The toasted coconut and chocolate toasted coconut ice cream are basically perfect. Right amount of coconut flakes(lots), right texture, not overly sweet. They also make great waffle cones and you can split a single scoop between two flavors since a single is really two scoops. Get both coconuts in a waffle cone. Its my current favorite ice cream order in the entire state of Massachusetts. read more

I must say my first experience at Kilwins in Hyannis was exceptional. From the customer service to the delicious icecream, my experience was wonderful.
