I saw this practitioner back in the early autumn of 2025, approximately. I should note that I did NOT see Dr. Bui. I saw the other dentist that practices there. I was there because they take Medi-Cal, which is the only coverage I have at the moment. I felt condescended to. They started prepping me for x-rays without explaining what they were doing. They were impatient when the x-ray film triggered my gag reflex and I needed to take a break. The other staff I met seemed eager to get rid of me, but they were mostly polite about it. The dentist said I had two cavities, then refused to point out where they were on my x-rays. I've never had a cavity in my life, and she was pushing hard to get me to make an appointment to get fillings. I suspect, but have not yet confirmed, that I had no cavities to begin with. On top of all that, I was outright refused numbing gel. She told me they "don't use that here," or something to that effect. I have never had a cleaning done as an adult WITHOUT that numbing gel. I would understand if she said my insurance didn't cover it, but her response was dismissive, at best. Because of that, I was in a lot of pain while she was cleaning my teeth. I have conditions that contribute to sensory sensitivities. This review WOULD have been a higher rating if it weren't for what happened after. The office called me some time later trying to schedule a follow-up to get those alleged cavities filled. Knowing I would likely get stuck with that same dentist and receive no pain relief, I refused the appointment. Instead, I asked them to email my x-rays to me so I could show them to my next dentist. They did not require that I fill out a release form so that they could send my xrays to my personal email address. I signed NOTHING. The email was addressed "To whom it may concern," not to me, the patient. I have seen a lot of doctors in my time. I was ALWAYS required to sign a form before they would release ANY of my records to me. I do know that this does NOT constitute any legal violation, but it still felt, again, very abrupt and dismissive. I believe my reluctance to schedule an appointment with any other dentist stems from my fear of receiving the same treatment I received here. I didn't have anxiety surrounding the dentist until I visited this place. I see now that I took so long to write this review because I wanted to forget about it. read more

I've had a wonderful experience with Radiant Smile Dentistry. Dr. Bui and the entire team are professional, kind, and always so welcoming. I've been coming here for my regular checkups and cleanings twice a year, and I always feel well taken care of. I've also had issues with teeth grinding, and she recommended a mouth guard to help protect my teeth. Found radiant smile through Yelp back in May, when I was in urgent need to fill my chipped tooth after eating some burnt rice ends (it's yummier than it sounds). I chipped my tooth Sunday night at dinner and called first thing Monday morning. Luckily Dr. Bui answered my call and said she could see me after hours which was considered an emergency visit. I made sure to ask about pricing cause it sounded expensive, but Dr. Bui reassured me there was no extra fee. It was simply an appointment outside regular hours. Happy to say, the entire visit was about an hour and 15 mins. That included 5 mins of new patient paperwork, a cleaning, and filling in my chipped tooth. I was so happy she was able to see me so last minute and an amazing experience on top of that. Dr. Bui is an excellent dentist and a pleasure to chat with. I agree with other reviews that mention her professionalism and gentleness. Hien her dental assistant is also great! Hien is so friendly and energetic, also impressively quick getting x-rays done :) 6 months later, I just finished my 2nd visit - regular cleaning and a few preventative fillings. Very unprofessional. A lot transpired during this visit, but overall I left feeling unsafe, disrespected, and shocked at the conduct of Dr. Huyen, Dr. Bui, and the assistants at this location. On my first visit, I was pulled aside into a room and asked my weight. The explanation I was given was that another patient had almost fallen and a chair had broken, and they didn't want me to have the same experience. In my opinion, asking for someone's weight in that manner was unnecessary, felt fat-phobic, and discriminatory. For context, I am nowhere near 300 pounds. In addition, one assistant placed her hands on my shoulder without my consent. I had already begun recording (because of issues with them entering incorrect vitals), and I have video showing this. The same assistant discouraged me from telling the dentist certain information, like my blood pressure and heart rate, which I believe any doctor would have a right to know. I personally witnessed the wrong vitals being entered into my chart and have video of me pointing this out. This felt deeply unprofessional and made me question the integrity of their recordkeeping. At one point they even called SJPD, claiming they felt threatened simply because I asked for my paperwork. I remained calm throughout, and from my perspective the officers did not share their view that I was a threat. That experience reinforced my belief that the staff exaggerated the situation rather than resolving it professionally. As someone with high blood pressure and a phobia of dentists, I left feeling that this office lacked empathy, professionalism, and ethics. In my personal opinion, discouraging accurate vitals, minimizing patient concerns, and mishandling communication reflects conduct that is not in line with professional or ethical standards. Please save your time and go to a truly professional dentist. In my experience, this office felt unsafe, disrespectful, and dismissive of patient rights. I later saw other reviews that described similar issues, and I agree with those concerns. For clarity: this review reflects my personal experience and opinions as a patient. I had two filling done here and literally were done terribly so bad I had to come back and the sweet girl who owns this place did try her best to complete the treatment (fix what her colleague messed up) but the fillings that were done still bother me till this day and this was months ago it's has sharp edges and just was not done with care , they expect medical but the lady who does it doesn't know what she's doing it seems left crying . Dr. Bùi has hands down been the best dentist I have ever gone to. Growing up, I absolutely hated the dentist and have been quite traumatized by all of my experiences. Once I was an adult, I saw multiple dentists who felt very impersonal, cold, and apathetic. Dr. Bui has blown every standard out of the water. At the beginning of Covid, my wisdom tooth started to erupt and it was so painful that I couldn't even crack my mouth open. I reached out to her and she was so kind and surprisingly willing to help despite the fact that every single office was closed at this point. She checked on my pain and went out of her way to find a way to see me. The pain ended up going away, but this left a lasting impact. I finally saw her in October for the first time and immediately, I felt so comfortable in the office. She walked me through all the work that I may need done and actually we worked on a treatment plan that together. She made sure it was all things that I wanted to do and made honest and amazing recommendations on how to achieve my goals. I saw her 5 times since and we are finally done with my dental work. Every single appointment was filled with empathy, excellence, and care. She does not settle for "okay" and I truly came out of there feeling so much more confident about my smile and dental health. This facility is special. As a full-time grad student for the past couple of years, I've grown used to sub-par dental care service or treated differently because I'm currently under Medi-Cal coverage. Don't get me wrong, I'm entirely grateful that there even exists a program like Medi-Cal in the first place; however, I know reimbursements can be tricky and more often than not, providers may be forced not to provide an effective level of care or are simply not willing to play the game. This is not the case for Radiant Smile Dentistry. As soon as I entered their doors, I was treated with kindness, compassion, and more importantly, a willingness to work with my needy teeth. I've grown used to dentists providing shame or saying that I'm not doing enough for my dental care, even though I dedicate a lot of time per day towards my oral hygiene. Dr. Bui was the first dentist I've come across that recognized my efforts and commended me for my care. Positivity goes a long way! Today was my first time coming to this practice, the dental assistant was so nice. The place was really nice and organized as well. I came in for a cleaning, which my insurance covered (cigna ppo). The dentist was really nice and friendly, (one of the most genuine dentist probably), she also gave me honest advice about what I should do to my teeth. I wrote a previous review about this place but my Yelp account had issues so I'm back with a new account but the rating is still the same of course! Long story short, going to this place made me excited to go to the dentist. I learn something new about my teeth every time and the environment is just so friendly you can't help but converse/have fun! I first came here for a second opinion about a root canal/crown installation that my previous dentist was pestering me about but Dr. Bui saved me thousands. She showed me exactly why the tooth was hurting and explained that if the pain alleviates, a root canal is not necessary. I canceled my surgery right away and true to her words, the pain slowly went away. The second time was because of swollen gums. I was freaking out and I only trusted going to Dr. Bui (even though I didn't have insurance at the time). She tried so many methods with me to figure out what was wrong. For her consultation, not only was she so patient through my worries but explained everything and why she was doing it. In the end, there was nothing and she refused to charge me! Most places I've been too would take an x-ray and the bill comes out to at least $50 but at this practice, she only want the best for your smile. Once I got my insurance back, I had to book the earliest appointment for a comprehensive exam. Originally, I got a very far date out since they are quite busy but they were able to fit me in once I told them I was suspecting a cavity. The office had a new dentist and at first I was hesitant, but due to pain I took the earliest date. This dentist did not disappoint! She was just as gentle and caring for my teeth as Dr. Bui. Although the place I suspected a cavity was simply a stain, she took the time to look around and found an actual cavity + broken filling elsewhere! Those were my experiences but generally, an amazing place with caring/friendly staff and very safe protocols. The equipment looks new-- especially the x-ray things they stick in your mouth (I been to another place where I literally saw crusting on those)-- and the staff were very hygienic!
