Moon cake was big and delicious. Pretty sweet with lots of fillings. Also enjoyed the sponge cake with a creamy custard. Butter cookie was a bit dry. Will be back to try more pastries.

Literally a couple steps from Phoenix and SO unassuming, but super great! We got the butter roll cake and the cake was so dense and tasted really high quality (more like a castella cake than sponge). The cream was more pudding texture than whipped cream like typical roll cakes, but I liked it! Also, only $1??? HOW We also tried the chicken cookies for my friend's nostalgia and she said they taste like others she's had, except they're usually more thick/chewy. I will definitely be back because I saw a variety of $1.50 cakes that I need in my life hehe

"12" Mung bean and Durian paste

Ahead of the Mid-Autmn Festival (Moon Festival, Mooncake Festival, Autumn Solstice, Chuseok, Tsukimi, Tet Trung Thu, and I'm sure it goes by other names in other cultures), this place makes the best Mooncake I have ever had. If in SoCal, make the effort, try this place, it is truly one of a kind. The two I chose for this year is the "00" which I am told has two eggs and is delicious. And the other "12" is one of my all time favorites with Mung bean and Durian paste. My mom and I also really like the Banh In Dau Xanh a kind of white pastry with white mung bean filling. We were fortunate enough that this bakery has a vendor right outside our favorite noodle house in Santa Ana (Trieu Chau). Have a safe and happy moon festival everyone!

A small unassuming bakery that sells some lovely things. My favorite thing is their sponge cake, it's so soft, pillowy and yummy. I also like their taro cake. The guy whom I assume is the owner is very nice. I try and stop by whenever im in the area.

    $1 butter roll slice

I was in the mood for sponge cake - truly craving it after a hearty lunch, and saw this place on Yelp. I was a little disappointed to see after walking here from my Chinatown lunch that they were out of sponge cake. The disappointment didn't last too long since I was able to snag a slice of their butter roll (I call them cake rolls) for $1. It wasn't sponge cake, but it was delicious and had a custard creaminess in between the roll that I treasured. Definitely a wonderful snack and I ate it while walking to my next destination. The bakery itself is pretty casual, and maybe someday I'll try their sponge cake. I came in around 2:30 or a little earlier so I was surprised they'd run out, but I also don't know what their rotation is or baking schedule.

Mooncakes. I was fortunate to get the Lotus One.

Oh my, oh my!! Such delicious Mooncakes! I was fortunate to find the one day they make mooncakes (for a festival) and I aim sho happy that I came in!! He said, "Not to eat them fast." I agree. So delicious more to enjoy, if eaten with care.

Wow! This little place is great. If you don't feel like waiting in a long line at Phoenix Bakery then Kim Hung is just a stones throw away! I stopped in to see what sort of items they had and I was not disappointed. The young guy behind the counter was very friendly and told me a little bit about the different fillings in the wives cakes. I settled on winter melon and lotus. I just took a bite of the winter melon and again all I can say is wow! The flavor is just fantastic. I have never tried anything like it. I'll definitely be coming back.

I bought these southern desserts from a stand outside the trieu chou restaurant at the westminister. Chicken biscuits are crunchy delicious, just a hint of salt and animal fat. The egg base butterfly dessert has a coat of sweetener on top, not exactly the same as the Cantonese version. Grateful that the shop has dispatched good stands in these popular chinese shopping plaza, I wish they can have the goods available in the Chinese grocery market.

Hands down One of my favorite bakery's in Chinatown. I love eating their bread for breakfast, as breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I recommend coming here for your mooncakes as they have a specialization in making that! It is a family owned business so each bread/cake is made with love! 5/5!!!

    Taro Wives Cake

It's hard to find really good Taro wives cake but Kim Hung does it so well! I usually find things at other bakeries overly sweet or not moist but that's never the case here. The taro cake is only one of so many more pastries they have to offer

    Lotus Seed Pastry

Kim Hung Bakery is truly a hidden gem. I ordered the lotus seed pastry, which I can not recommend enough. The crust is buttery and flaky, while the filling is rich without being overwhelmingly sweet. Their lotus seed filling has the perfect consistency on top of being delicious. Additionally, the customer service is great! The man who was helping me offered to cut my pastry into neat little fourth servings (which I took him up on but ate the whole thing in one go whoops). He was really helpful and even directed me to a different business when I asked about a product unavailable at the time! A great small business with devotion to community and quality I will definitely be returning to (:

Really nice packaging for the moon cakes!

I was looking to buy moon cakes and I'm so glad I stopped by at this bakery. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and super fun to talk to! Got 2 moon cakes and a taro pastry, which they boxed for me very nicely. They all tasted amazing! Although moon cakes are only available before the mid autumn festival, I will definitely be back for the taro pastry. Highly recommend.

We came on Memorial Day around 3pm, and we waited in a decent line. It was fast-moving, and thankfully, we managed to get a table in the indoor seating area right away. To-go was not an option because we'd ordered the signature mango sticky rice shaved ice, which is HEFTY. It's like eating a dessert meal in terms of serving size, but it's light and fresh enough to follow a Thai food lunch from one of the nearby restaurants (which is what we did). The mango sticky rice shaved ice was delicious. If you like either mango sticky rice or Taiwanese mango shaved ice (or Korean bingsoo), you will love this. It's served with condensed milk, sticky rice, and additional mango on the side to add on as you eat. It's definitely enough for at least 2-3 people to share. We also had a couple orders of gelato, which surpassed our expectations. One of us, who spent 4 months in Italy, said it was some of the best gelato she'd ever had. Standout flavors included jasmine matcha and Earl Grey Thai tea. Do yourself a favor and stop by! We got pretty lucky with parking because all the nearby meters were free for Memorial Day, and I can imagine parking might be difficult at night. But this dessert is well worth a parking hassle!

These trompe-l'œil pastries--French desserts designed to "deceive the eye" by looking like real fruit--are as impressive as they are delicious. Light, fresh, and perfectly balanced, with just the right touch of sweetness. We also had their matcha drink, which was just as good. A bit pricey, but worth the indulgence.

Hands down worth the drive, it's the best dessert option they have. Creamy balanced flavors, well layered, and with a texture that is irresistibly fun to eat. I love the heart container. We bought almost all of every piece dessert except for two along with the ice cream bites. Needless to say, we were not impressed. Each pastry had the same lingering aftertaste which was odd, the fresh strawberry topping was old, the gelatin like texture did not complement the watery centers, and the outside chocolate shell had no flavor. Of course, if you like these details of texture, you may dig it! Just definitely not for me. The ice cream bites resemble a frozen yogurt like texture and although I appreciate the all natural fruit product, the flavors didn't quite come through. The space inside is small, clean, and cozy. We weren't really warmly welcomed but did receive a kind goodbye after we picked up our order and had tipped generously. The Togo boxes could use improvement as they were so flimsy and hard to store in the fridge. The carry out bag is SO nice though. We're happy to have supported the business but will not drive out there again. Try your luck, it is fun to explore!
