Please stop updating your responses to change the story and accuse me of some new bad behavior. The texts are our communications, I didn't call you and "press you". There are no other communications. They also speak for themselves. Adding a screenshot of your prior edited comment. Update 2: Last update and lowered my rating from a 2 to a 1 star to reflect the now edited response that no longer says I "haggled" for a faster time and suggests for the first time that the glass didn't break "on its own". So I'm adding a picture of the glass, and another text screenshot where Mike refers to spontaneous breakage and asking the glass company if it's under warranty. Not sure why he's ask them if it was under warranty if it didn't break on its own. Update: I am not surprised that Mike responded. I never "haggled" to get it done sooner. If I had, I'd be pretty bad at haggling for it to take 3.5 months for it to not get done. But as I said, I have receipts. I would not recommend working with Hicks. I have had a series of issues, but held off on a critical review since he would previously try to resolve the issues. I hired Hicks to install a patio railing. The work was done fairly quickly, but after less than a year, one of the cables had fallen off. Hicks came back and repaired it without additional cost, which I appreciated. Next I had Hicks install a glass and wood balcony. I wasn't happy with the quality of the work or the state of the job site, and again Hicks apologized and came back to make it better and clean up the mess. He was at times defensive, but again, I appreciated him fixing the errors. Less than a year after the balcony was installed, a glass panel shattered. There was no impact or area of impact, suggesting it was from a glass manufacturing defect. He told me the warranty on the glass he used was only for 6 months from installation (even for defective glass), so I'd need to pay for a new sheet of glass, but he would install it without additional charge. The glass shattered in mid October. It's now February. Hicks' communication has been really challenging. I pushed and pushed to get it installed and it took months to even get scheduled. On January 9th, the day he was supposed to arrive to install, he didn't show at the agreed upon time, and only later responded after I had reached out about him being a no-show to let me know that strong wind had blown over the replacement glass and it broke. I was very frustrated because this was January and he had initially told me it would be a few weeks to get the glass replaced (which would have been November). Had it been installed in an even remotely timely manner, it wouldn't have blown over and broken. So I asked when the new glass would arrive, he said about a week. I asked him if he could please schedule me for a couple weeks out so we have something scheduled and I wouldn't have to wait months again. He said yes, but didn't actually schedule me. I started messaging a couple times a week with no response - again, said the new glass should be arrive in about a week on January 9th. Yesterday I messaged saying I needed an update, and he told me the whole thing was too stressful and he's not doing it anymore. So I waited 3.5 months for him to replace defective glass that he had offered to replace (with me paying the cost of the glass), and then he just decided he's not going to do it. I was patient and incredibly reasonable through all of these issues, but the defensiveness and failure to communicate and follow through isn't professional. I have receipts for all of these communications.

First off: we love our custom door, it continues to be a highlight of our home (super important making a great impression as people enter). It swings easily and is super stable. Recently the bolt holding the door frame to the wall came loose (likely from a mix of daily use and our shifting soils here in San Clemente). Not entirely surprising that there'd be some "settling in" given that it's a fairly massive completely custom door - but still, it had been over a year since the Hicks team finished the job. I emailed and asked: is this sort of thing covered? Well... Myke came out personally and spent the better part of two hours fixing the issue - not only thoroughly reinforcing the door frame but also upgrading the other side of the frame with a new customer stopper to increase security but also improve the operation of the door. It's been almost 18 months since install and Myke came out free of charge. Went well above and beyond and shook my hand and wished me well. If you think "good people doing good work" is hard to find... I hope you find this review, and give Myke Hicks a call.

I also really like that they don't drill into my foundation. Taylor and Jassenia have been spot on with communication. They've been very flexible when I had to change my initial inspection date. Quick to respond to my questions. Today I had my inspection for my three unit condo and Wayne was professional, friendly, and very respectful of everyone's property. I didn't get any negative feedback while he was inspecting, so fingers crossed that I passed. My parents have another property that was recently inspected by South Coast and did not pass. The inspection company offered a contractor that could do the work and (while the contractor is affiliate with them), the price quoted was very competitive as well. I would highly recommend this company if you need your deck inspected or even repaired to bring it up to code.

Had a job for a guy named John not sure if that's his real name but anyways supposedly he was a manager for this iron place. Unbelievable, I did not know he was a manager because the way he was acting. He was yelling in a language I didn't understand what if he was cussing at me in his language? Not only that, it was hot outside and I asked for water and he said "I don't give my dogs water why would I give you water" woooow. So I got some footages that I will be posting on Facebook of how bad his place is. He has two gates and has his dogs out there for no reason in hot weather no food no water. Imagine what he's keeping in that place. It's filthy! It smells like fish and a swamp. Poor dog wish I could take the buddy home! This guy John I heard from the wood works that he's definitely a mad person. He's unprofessional, he's loud, and he will get in your face and you do not understand any words he says. I felt belittled by this guy! This so called manager had been getting complaints of animal abuse and neglect. I noticed the poor dog was thirsty from being outside in this 90 degree weather I tried giving him water John yelled at me and said "leave that dog alone he's no use to us but to watch our place" makes me wonder why he has this poor dog who's not showered, sad, skinny, and he needs to be rescued as soon as possible! REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE. They claim they have over 40 years experience. Their craftsmanship is 2nd to none. When I signed the contract, their advertising indicated that they make and powder coat all gates in their Fullerton office. After the gate was installed, I informed the company that the workmanship was really bad and the paint does not appear powder coated. At that time, they told me that they don't do powder coating although the website indicated that they did when we signed the contract. I feel that they charge top dollar for work that is not up to standard. They hand paint everything. The joints and connectors are not smooth and are lumpy and bumpy. I chose a specific gate that had a deadbolt lock and a knob. The gate came with lock but no knobs to open gate. Really poor workmanship. The office staff and sales person were rude when we tried to address our concerns. read more

I will report this place to tik tok and every social media platform! This place has a dog in the front of their work place with no access to food or water. The dog is abandoned and neglected. You could see the dog is covered with dirt and filth left with no food, water, and is left to guard the front gate and I don't get it when it has 2 gates to protect whatever product they have back there. Get security cameras but do not have a dog do your work outside in a 94 degree weather with no access to food or drinks. I am reporting this activity of dog abuse, neglect, and no access to food or water. Dog definitely looks like it's never showered for days and looks malnutritioned. I had my work done by this horrible place. I could not stop crying how bad this place made my fence. I feel low balled and crazy for putting so much trust in John. He was nice at first but look how horrible of a job him and mike has done. Word around town he's a dog abuser. His place smelled and looked like it has never been cleaned. The poor dogs watching his place didn't have access to food and drink. Unbelievable. That people are still like him and abuse animals in 2021. Why don't they grab a camera from Amazon or something or hire a security. I'm sure that place is filled with more than just metal. I made a drive out from Moreno Valley because I had family members in Fullerton and they said their was a place next to arco that does fence work. I went and it had two gates and a poor dog it was so hot that day I was trying to figure out why he had a dog out there with no access to food and water. I hope one day everyone will realize that John Kim is an animal abuser and loves to steal peoples money! He will low ball you and take your money and never answer your call. I wanted to get some fence done in my backyard for my dogs and when I called asking for a quote they said "oh no we do not work with dogs" but since I live in Yorba Linda I made the drive out there and wow I could not believe how messy and smelly the place was. Poor dogs were outside in this summer California weather which made me think poor service only goes to show they probably give those dogs such horrible homes. Dogs should not live like that. I am so proud for everyone who stepped up and said something about John the dog abuser and unprofessionalism he brings to his company. I drove all the way from Los Angeles to get a quote and see if I can get an installment same day. Wow I was embarrassed and taken back how dirty the place was. It was insane they had a dog watch their place in which I was confused that being super hot outside with no access to food and water. I spoke to mike and then John! They yelled at me saying I was useless a useless customer. Place smelled like garbage and looked horrible. They had greedy vibes to them. I feel bad for the dog I would take that dog in heartbeat. This place is flat out horrible! John had been so disrespectful towards me and my family when I asked for help and the rate for our gate to be put up in our backyard. He yelled at me in a different language I believe in Korean. John has two dogs outside of his workspace area watching over his workplace which was absolute trash and filth like his attitude. Will keep reporting him to animal control until he gets those dogs out instead of having them in 90 degree weather. Saw pictures going around Facebook and tik tok about a poor dog. Went to check on the dog and the dogs are outside protecting whatever he has going on in there. Heard it was a swamp because it smells like fish. He almost punched me and I almost called the cops on him for being so loud for no reason because I asked for a 10 percent off discount. I called to get someone like John kim to put up a fence to protect my dogs from getting over to someone's property. I noticed something so off it wreaked in his place it almost smelled like something that's not supposed to be there. I noticed he has a sweet dog who's outside in 90 degree weather with no water, food, and he looked completely sad and super dirty. I called for an installment rate and John said to come in. So I drove from San Diego just to get yelled at and I was so confused as to why he did such a thing. He yelled at me in two different languages and I have never felt belittled in my life. Also, his place was full of old stuff everywhere it was literally hell and it smelled so bad. Kim Iron Works designed, constructed and installed outdoor stairs for my property. Cement stairs with steel rails. The stairs are beautiful! Attached to the upstairs landing. They passed the city inspection the first time. Everything went as planned and on schedule. And the price was very fair. I have almost 40 year old wrought iron fencing around my property line in an East Lake neighborhood…read moreof Yorba Linda. There were nine (9) separate sections ranging from 103" to 217". There were weakened or rusted through anchor points as well as a number of rusted out bottom horizontal bars that were more exposed to water from sprinklers. I anticipated all nine sections needing replacement, my expecting a $7-10K job with wrought iron going at around $35-45 a linear foot. Mr. Lee was called. He came the next day to do an estimate. He said that only one section needed replacement and that all else could be repaired, most of the fencing still quite strong, wrought iron linear foot cost now about $55-75, saving a bundle. Total cost quoted was $1,130. He'd be out the following week after the replacement section was fabricated, which was six days after the estimate. The day of the job he arrived at 0730. He departed near 1100. He showing me each repair he did and the replacement section. Further, my wrought iron gate was sticking, having settled at one end, and he knocked that out, too, it not having been in the work order. (Yes, I tipped to cover that.) Mr. Lee is honest, looks out for the customer as to cost, is timely, very respectful (to a fault), and does quality work. I highly recommend him.

His bid is price competitive with 3 others that I got, albeit not the lowest one. However, I chose OC Iron and Vinyl because they proposed to replace the 2 panels with new, not just repairs. What also pushed them over the top is Giovanni willingness to reinforce other "loose" panels with metal brackets and bolts FREE of charge for me. He's also flexible with scheduling 2 days earlier despite his crew having an emergency job in LA to get done. Giovanni completed the repairs within ONE day, much to my tenants' delight for having privacy restored. I will use Giovanni's services again to repair some of the posts in this fence in the near future and would recommend his services to everyone.

I had a budget to replace both of my side gate so I went and got quotes from quite a number of companies. In the end Tom's Iron Work gave me the most reasonable price and also most reasonable timeline of how long it'll take to make the gate and to install. What I like the most of this company was they always answer the phone calls and when they say they'll call you back, they actually follow through. I would definitely use them again for the future for any iron works. You won't go wrong if you go with Tom's Iron Works.
