If they weren't interested in taking the job, they should have been honest and said so from the beginning instead of leaving a customer waiting. Complete waste of time. Reply to the owner comment: "I think you're missing the point. I couldn't care less whether you take the job or not--that's completely your choice. My issue is with the lack of communication and respect for the customer's time. It shouldn't take almost two weeks to let someone know you can't do the job. A simple timely response from the beginning would have been appreciated and would have avoided wasting my time."

It was time to replace it with something sturdier and less likely to warp, shrink, fade. I did a lot of research on what materilas would best hold up to the brutal So Cal summers we have. I also had to keep within the Architectural guidelines of our HOA for fences. I found a company in Orange, CA, called SoCal Gates. I established contact with the owner, Ray, who is a really knowledgeable and personable guy to work with. We scheduled an appointment for him to come to our home to show us color samples of the composite material we would choose for him to use in our steel framed gate. Ray arrived, and had us look at the different colored composite samples while he took his measurements. He then went over with us the color choices and which ones would intergrate best with our home's exterior colors, including the tiled roof and front entry door and garage door. He explained how he visualized the gate would look, once mounted. We agreed on the materials and and the price. He mentioned that his installation pricing included the removal of the gate from the cinder block wall it was attached to, but did not include the removal of the old fence post or the haul away fo the old fence. After hiring another fence company to remove the fence post, back fill with concrete and haul away all of the old fence, Ray told he would've done it had I specifically asked him, for an extra charge. In fact, he told me how to remove the old post myself, so that gave me the impression he would prefer to just to install the gate with the old fence gone and the area prepped for his installation. After the HOA approved my gate plan, It only took a few weeks for Ray to build our gate and to schedule a date and time for the installation. On the day of the installation, I watched Ray assemble and install my agte, He is meticulous and thoughtful throughout his installation process. He showed me how to change out the composite planks if I ever needed to, and how to program our electronic lockest. We are very happy with out new sturdy, side gate. I would recommend anyone needing a new steel framed gate with composite planking to contact Ray.

The issue in my case is installation and customer service. They broke one of my recently installed pavers (never told me). The metal portion of 1 of 3 gates had a lot of visible deep scratches, and they left an outlet box just dangling instead of properly installing it. I also noticed they didn't install stoppers behind each door. Didn't know I had to ask for that or that they didn't provide them. Imagine spending thousands on 3 beautiful doors just so when they open, they smack on stucco or walls? I made a deal with Mark (he comes out to give you an estimate) it cost me $100 to have my paver guy fix the damage. Add 3 stoppers to the gates and I'll call it even. He said ok. They came out and installed one. Mark has been bs'ing me for months and they haven't came out to add the remaining two. I've called the main office and no luck. I know if I would've waited on paying they would've been done a long time ago. And to be fair they did come out and covered up the deep scratches a bit. You can still see them but not as noticeable. The electric box was also installed properly. Make sure you look at your doors and gates closely before you pay because trying to get them to come out can be difficult and Mark might tell you it will be handled and never will. Their prices are fair and competitive but their installation and customer service could use some work and maybe other estimates on your behalf. See pictures. Oh and I sent them a lock to install prior to them coming out to install. I should've checked that too before they left. The electronic door lock doesn't work. I've tried taking it apart and figuring it out but does not work. My fault I guess for not checking.

They have literally everything contractors could possibly need from sand, P gravel, stone, rocks, brick, decorative concrete pavers, large landscape boulders, mortar, everything. I didn't need much, as my planter is only about 7' by 2' max, and I was afraid that maybe they didn't do small sales - but they did and I was able to fill 2 5 gal buckets when what I needed :) I was able to find small/ medium white rocks and also brown lava rocks. The Only thing they don't have is small black lava rock but they do have that in a medium size :) The younger guy that works there also offered to help me get my stone together. Chivalry is not dead folks LOL! So that was appreciated. I don't know what I was thinking, by showing up without a shovel, but they let me use one of theirs.

He provided the necessary information and documentation and eventually secured the work to be done with a separate invoice for the neighbor and me. I am impressed with the process and seamless communication with him. He's on point, professional and willing to work with clients for discounted pricing. The installers Manny & Javier did a great job with the vinyl fence installation. Everything looks flawless and they were approachable. My only suggestion is for the management to be more proactive with the appointment follow-ups. Overall, the job was done well.

The quoting process, the front office, the scheduling team, and the actual installation crew all seemed entirely disconnected from one another. The left hand never knew what the right hand was doing, which meant I had to constantly chase them down and act as my own project manager just to keep things moving. The install crew left a safety gap on the right side of the fence. Getting an already disjointed and unresponsive front office to schedule a crew to come back and fix the gap was an exhausting exercise. I wouldn't recommend them unless you want to manage every single detail yourself, find a more responsive contractor.

I asked him for in person estimation and he says what he gives online is the price you get. Next day a worker named Alonzo comes over to go over the project. Measures out 64 ft quoted me $4686 for fence work and $1100 more for staining. I remeasured 3 times and it comes out to 57 ft, Alonzo calls and he denies making a mistake and says the cost is higher because of tariffs. Regardless of the 7 ft difference the cost discrepancy was $2200 than what Jorge provided.
