    Hong Kong Milk Tea
    Gino W.

I have a ritual of going to Somethin' Sweet Donuts every weekend for a doughnut fix. On my last visit, I asked the woman behind the counter about Kim Long Restaurant, wondering if she had gone there. She gave me a modest, "It's okay" response. It was considerably better than okay. Hong Kong milk tea. Hot and sour soup. Salt and pepper shrimp. Shrimp in lobster sauce. I'm hooked on the Hong Kong milk tea. The hot and sour soup had a lot more flavour to it than what I've had at Americanized Chinese restaurants. The salt and pepper shrimp was a winner. I wasn't expecting the head to be attached to the shrimp and once I got the shell off, it was all good. I'm addicted to the shrimp in lobster sauce. When I was leaving, I saw an older woman who used to be at Somethin' Sweet Donuts when I was going there. She mentioned that the doughnut shop and Kim Long Restaurant are family owned. I guess my ritual now will be to go to Kim Long for dinner and then to Somethin' Sweet Donuts for my usual doughnut dessert fix.

The place is fairly new and offers plenty of options to eat, the restaurant it self has plenty of tables for either individual or small groups of people. I often order food for pickup but they also deliver. The owners are friendly and make you fell good about buying. As for the food, its good and its made pretty fast.

We ordered on-line and the order ended up taking 1.5 hours. One dish was missing but we weren't charged for it. Food was good but not great.

The order of orange chicken barely had any chicken. There was more broccoli than actual chicken. Very disappointed. Not worth it.

They moved a bit farther away from me but I'll drive the extra few blocks. New place is a nice upgrade.

Every single time I come here, I see the manager or owner either cooking in the kitchen, organizing…read moredrinks or menus, or cleaning the front area. Do you ever meet someone and just know they're a hard-worker? Because I feel like this is the vibe you'll get when you walk here. Aside from feeling like the people here genuinely want to cook YOU a delicious meal, ordering was simple. They have a kiosk or you can order in person. I DO RECOMMEND GOING IN TO ORDER or pickup. They have a combo menu (wings + fries + drink) that I could not find easily on Uber Eats. Every time I order, the same hardworking guy tells me it'll be a wait and asks if that's okay. Of course it's fine with me because they're cooking to order not leaving food out and waiting to put sauce. Alright now the food, it's good fried chicken with sauces that I don't see in other places. I get soy garlic, honey garlic, sweet Korean, and lemon wasabi. Each sauce is unique and some have a different spice, not "hot hot" but lingering sting, which is an odd thing for me to say, but it's good!! Also, taeboki is an AMAZING Korean side, but a fan favorite for me from here. Anyways, this place is by a busy street (Irving Park) but I feel like it's not given the recognition it deserves. Yeah there's other basic chicken wings nearby by this place has unique sauces and Korean favorites. Also, if you're having a party, you can easily order Jet's pizza next door and wings and Korean dishes from here. A great pairing (though I haven't tried that myself).

Wow, juicy, meaty, and cooked to perfection. Not much table room to eat-in, but super friendly owner and even offered us a complimentary beverage. Next time I would like to try some of the more traditional Korean dishes, as I will definitely be back!

At 4pm on a weekday it was already bustling, and this place is popular for good reason! The entire vibe and the staff are just super cool. Even the bathrooms are an experience, with heavy metal music blasting in a way that just adds to the unique charm. To drink, I tried the lucky linny and blood orange sour, which were both fantastic. I'm not typically a huge beer person, but after this visit I'm well on my way to crossing to the other side. For the appetizer, we split the cheese curds. I really liked the Korean inspired twist and the kimchi aioli served alongside. I think it could've used a little more salt and arrived warmer for a nice cheese pull, but otherwise it was enjoyable. I opted for the double cheeseburger as the main event, and it was really well done. The beef was juicy, perfectly cooked, with ample high quality cheese and caramelized onions. I think the sauce could've used an extra something, but overall it was a great burger. Great experience all around. Can't recommend highly enough and look forward to returning soon!

Got it. Boozy? Check. No complaints there. Most of their food is pretty good. Went yesterday and had their nachos which were great. Unfortunately their mac of the month sounded good before we got it. Mac and cheese with mushrooms and bacon sounds great. But when we got it, it not only didn't look good it was just weird and they really missed the boat with it. They added blue cheese to it for some reason which threw off the taste, had raw tomatoes on it which added to an already way too liquidy sauce, and the pasta was way overdone. It's a shame because their pimento mac with breadcrumb crust is great. I feel like they just tried to get too fancy with that one and also forgot that if you add piping hot sauce to done pasta, it keeps cooking it. That said, service was very good and we will come back...but we will be wary of the mac of the month.

Now you only get that basement vibe when you head to the bathroom. lol Monti's is a legit cool kid now, and I'm not mad at it at all. The cheesesteak? Still doing what it's supposed to do. I ordered one to go and demolished it later that night, like usual. I did sit in and have a few beers and bites. Somehow I've been sleeping on the onion rings and wings this whole time. Listen, listen, listen, Linda, the onion rings; Do Not Change Them!!! Don't you dare switch to those battered, frozen, chain-restaurant rings of bull-s. These are the good rings. Now, the wangzzzz. I'm not going to pretend these are the absolute best wings in the entire city, but they are absolutely in the "I will randomly crave these on a Tuesday" category. The meat could use a little marinade situation to bring more flavor inside, but that crispy coating holds up to the sauce like a champ. I like it, I like it, I like it. Extra points for a buffalo sauce that actually has some thickness to it and isn't just "here's some hot sauce, on a wing being called buffalo sauce. Now, I am going to need to try some of the other wing sauces, but if they hold up too. I would rather come here than go to some other well known wing spots. Honestly, I can see myself rolling through just for wings, rings, and vibes. And that Golden Monkey beer? Yeah, go ahead and keep that on tap forever. Please and thank you. haha

I will say they were solid wings and a great option for takeout. We got four 6 wing meals. The cook (and the owner?) gave us a few more wings which was nice. They have 40 sauces which was a little bit of a shell shock. I think I got too many of the same kind of wings. Hell, Buffalo, and Louisiana Ranch were all kind of the same. It's on me, but I wish I could have gotten a little more direction. Either way, the wings were great! I especially liked Hell since they were super spicy and had a really good taste. The only wings were cooked great! The fries were surprisingly good! We also got an order of fried shrimp which was excellent. They only "downsides" were there my dads BBQ wings were all wings and no drumsticks. It was we kind of a weird. Also, their website doesn't give all the great wing options so you kind of need to use Grubhub (which takes a portion). I'd recommend going there to order, but it takes some time to cook the food. Still, everything is cooked to order so you are getting fresh wings and some place to check out!

My love was very excited to get a Groupon for FireWings, so we checked this place out recently…read more FireWings is a smallish place on Pulaski just south of Lawrence and adjacent to an alley. They seem to have inconsistent opening hours. We live near it and have walked past it at random times - sometimes looks open, sometimes looks closed. For a while they had a sign in the window touting a breakfast menu on the weekends, but not sure if they are still pushing that early agenda. The menu features wings of course, but they also sell burgers, burritos, and fried shrimp. They have a list of 40 sauce selections for their wings. Orders of wings and burgers also come with a side of fries. When we walked in to place our takeout order, we were told that it would take only 10 minutes. I was surprised, as I was anticipating a much longer wait based on some of the Yelp reviews. After my love and I witnessed a peaceful protest on Pulaski for about 15 minutes, we went back to FireWings and our order was ready to go. My order of 6 wing pieces with honey BBQ sauce was good if not great. The fries that came along with the wings rate a bit better, as they were crisp and flavorfully seasoned. The celery stalks were very basic, and the not-quite-ranch dipping sauce tasted pretty decent. My love went with the cheeseburger, and the bite of the burger I tried was tasty. I'd say FireWings is worth a try, but be sure that they are open for business!
