This is no longer Mr Ging Chop Suey. It is now Peking Cajun Seafood No. 2. This new restaurant has apparently purchased the facility, taken over the phones, changed the menu, food and prices, but not updated the website. The food is not spoiled or foul, but I didn't get what I ordered, and I didn't like what I got. They need to take down the Mr Ging website and stop answering as Mr Ging. This was a really great meal, the chicken eggroll was crispy and the filling was very good not your average cabbage filled roll. The egg foo young was outstanding, the gravy was thick and not greasy. There are plenty of great Chinese restaurants in the area, and Mr. Ging that joins that special group of restaurants. We obviously called it in and did take out. Ordering process was easy and the food was ready when promised. We ordered their orange chicken dinner as well as their beef lo mein. The orange chicken came with your usual chicken fried rice and egg roll, but also a soup or pop. Unfortunately you couldn't choose your own soup for the regular price. I would have preferred egg drop or hot & sour but you had to pay a dollar more. They give you plenty of here for a very decent price. The food tasted fresh, and was very tasty and very filling. I recently ordered takeout from this storefront (after a 15 yr hiatus) in a small nondescript strip mall in nowhereville on Central Ave. Don't let the dingy facade and location deter you. I was quickly reminded why I once drove out of my way to patronize Mr. Ging. Ingredients are fresh. Vegetables crunchy. Sauces not overpowering or salty. Servings are generous. Prices more than reasonable. Wonton soup is a favorite. Ask for the free egg rolls and crab ragoon. You'll be glad you did. Stir fried rice is generous and best I've found on NW side. This had potential but missed the mark. I think the biggest disappointment was how dry all the meat was. The egg roll was dry and the BBQ pork was missing the BBQ. It's all dry dark pork. Go to Mr. Ging they said; try the egg foo young and Mongolian beef they said. With that ringing endorsement, I eschewed my regular Chinese stop to give Mr. Ging a try. I enjoyed their attempts to abide by Covid protocol with the plastic divider and little window for food and credit card transaction. Mrs. Ging (?) was manning the front with a mask and gloves on. Now, to the food... Ordered Egg Foo Young lunch special and saw it come right out of the wok when I got there. The cook was employing some serious egg foo young skills. The gravy was savory and heavy enough to coat both patties. They even asked what protein I wanted in the egg foo and I went with pork. It was nice that the lunch special includes eggdrop soup. I am always searching for a new go-to Chinese place, especially one that is reasonably priced. So, I came across this place in a Yelp search and decided to give it a try given price and sheer amount of options! We ordered beef subgum, chicken almond ding, shrimp egg foo yong and ham fried rice - a nice variety to test it out. Everything was really good, if a little light on seasoning (especially the egg foo yong - very b bland). All of this was under $50 with delivery, which is CHEAP!. I did find it odd that the chicken almond ding had cashews in it - but whatever, nuts are nuts to me/us. We also requested no onion or green onion and got the green onion in one of the items, so boo on that. Kids loved the mushrooms in the beef and chicken dish, the ham fried rice and the chicken in general. I would definitely try this again and plan on branching-out to some appetizers and noodle dishes the next time. read more

Our usual place changed hands and I figured that if I'm going to try a new place either way, we should switch it up. So I opened up Grubhub and ordered away. It was delivery and it was AWESOME. It was delivered on time and it was hot. I got two egg rolls, chicken wings, salt and pepper fish filet and Mongolian beef plus there was a coupon for a free shrimp fried rice. It was all delicious. Mr. Ging was scrumptious, nutritious and the servings were nice, big and MIDWESTERN style, just like I like when I come to Chicago!!! Then they honored a coupon for 2 free egg rolls if your meal is over a certain amount. We paid $25 for everything and got several meals out of it. A great deal for 2 hungry construction workers! Everything was fresh and tasty with generous helpings of meat and veggies. I could taste that they used very fresh ginger. You have to try the egg foo young. It was spongy, creamy deliciousness. The pork in the egg rolls was barbecued. The people who work here are very sweet. We are fortunate to have many good restaurants on Central Avenue and Mr. Ging's is now one of our favorites. read more

My family and I have been ordering food from here for years and we loved it. The previous owners were such humble people. I have never had an issue with my orders in the past and always recommended this place for Chinese food. Not sure when the owners switched or sold the restaurant but ever since then things have not been the same. The lady at is at the front of the store is the same lady all the time, there is Definity a language barrier especially taking orders over the phone. There has been a couple of incidents where she has an attitude because she does not understand what the other person on the other line is trying to say or order. There have been several times my order has been ordered or picked up and items are either missing or it is the wrong order. This past weekend I placed my usually order shrimp fried rice, beef and broccoli, small wonton soup and an egg roll for pick up. Once someone was there to pick up the lady at the front said it was already delivered mind you, I had been home Alday and nothing has been delivered. I called the restaurant to speak to the lady and explained to her the order was for pick up and not delivery, she said it was already delivered. I felt like i had to repeat myself several times to tell her no i told you it was for pick up and either way nothing as been delivered. Not only did she not listen or care what I was saying she then proceeded to put the phone down on the counter for several minutes, I then hung up and called back and told her I was the one that was just talking to you about my order once again she placed the phone down this happened at least 3 times. I then just hopped in my car and drove to the restaurant myself. Once she realized I was the one she was on the phone with she headed to the back her no one can see her not only ignoring myself but ignoring the other costumers there. While waiting for someone to come to speak with me I overheard the people behind me complaining about the service and how it is taking for ever for the food. I was so upset at the whole situation not only was the customer service horrible but the fact that she was hiding in the back just so she wouldn't have to talk to me about the status of my order I was insulted. It's sad that I have been going there for more than 15 years and that will be that last time ever go there again. read more

Right across the hospital and a few dollars cheaper than the food I can get in the cafeteria was the reason I gave this place a try. Food prices are not that expensive and food was pretty good and abundant! I had lunch special and it came with egg roll and drink/soup. I'm picky when it comes to Chinese Take out. Unfortunately no one place can fulfill my needs. Some serve excellent food, but crappy egg rolls, others miss it when it comes to good hot and sour soup. Mr.Ging is my place to go to when I have very specific Chinese cravings. Their Lobster Egg Foo Young has huge chunks of lobster, not flecks, and I love love their Beef Mai Fun! I don't really crave chinese food, but if I do I order take out from here. My favorite is the sesame chicken with beef fried rice. The chicken is not like most chinese places. I had high expectations for this little restaurant based on the sign in the window claiming to have the best Chinese food in Chicago. Yeah, I know it's normal for businesses to really talk up their product higher than what others might, but trust me the sign in the window was totally wrong. The only reason I'm giving this place a 2 star rating is the serving size was large on their lunch menu. However, some of the sweet and sour pork was burnt, the rest of it had a mushy tasteless coating on it, the fried rice was not just fried but fried just barely short of burnt, the egg roll was also just barely not burnt and was very over cooked. The one positive taste in the meal was the canned Coke which was cold and good tasting. I really hate giving a low rating to a small restaurant since I'm very much in favor of supporting small businesses whenever possible. However, in this case I feel I am being pretty generous to even give this restaurant 2 stars. The service was friendly and the dining area clean so at least they have that going for them. Next time I'm in the area I will just eat next door at the Subway sandwich shop where I know I will get served good tasting food. I sometimes think I'm the kiss of death to my favorite Chinese restaurants. Both Wok Inn and Little Hunan are now closed, leaving me to scramble to find a local restaurant which pleases me as much as they did. Mr. Ging's is not that restaurant, however it does offer good food and a lot of bang for the buck, which I appreciate. Right from the start I was impressed with the speed of the delivery and the sheer amount of food that was sent. It all arrived hot, a state that is all-too-rare these days it seems. The crab rangoon was not only a big order, but the pieces were huge. Unfortunately they did not include any hot mustard, an odd omission. The pot stickers were good, but the sauce, though good, was not the kind I like with my pot stickers. It was slightly sweet and gingery, like the grown-up sister of the sweet-sour sauce sent with the crab rangoon. Nice, but not what I wanted. The hot and sour soup was good, but more peppery and less vinegary than I like it. Still, it had a good flavor and was a good deal. I ordered the twice-cooked pork since that's difficult to impossible to find at most places I've been. Again, it was good, but not great. The pork was lean, but not as tender as I like, and the sauce was spicy, but not the almost barbeque-y type sauce I'm used to. My dinner companion had another house special, which name I forget right now. Shanghai something, and it was very good. I've awarded four stars here because most of my objections are that the dishes were not entirely what I expected. It'd hardly be fair to take away points because of that. For what we got, I'd say we did well, and I'll be ordering from there again in the future. But I'm also going to keep looking for a local Chinese restaurant which more suits my needs. read more

Pretty standard Chinese fare here. I ordered some egg rolls, crab rangoon and shrimp chow fun. I never tried chow fun, so I googled up pictures and it sounded good to me. The crab rangoon came in a set of 8 for $5.25, so there was certainly value there, as the carton for food did not close. The egg roll was standard as well, probably should have gotten a shrimp roll. Shrimp Chow Fun? I am down with this dish since the shrimp is big and plentiful and as I dug around my food, there was always more shrimp to be found. Delivery time beat the Grubhub estimate, but I must say they did not include napkins, utensils or free pop with my order. Also they put a small carton filled with sweet and sout sauce that didn't make sense to me. Decent value and I will have food for the next few days at least!!! read more

Totally flavorless and overloaded with bok choy. I wanted a Chinese dish with both shrimp and scallops, and not many Chinese restaurants around here seem to have scallops, which is why I tried this place. First, the shrimp were not jumbo at all and there were about seven of them in the whole dinner. There were about 3.5 scallops, and they were tiny. Both were overcooked. The sauce had very little flavor and there was an overwhelming amount of bok choy in the "Chinese vegetables." Such a disappointment. Out mei fun was pretty flavorless too. We didn't even eat the leftovers from this meal. Bleh. There are so many bad Chinese places in this neighborhood and this is another to add to that list. Egg rolls were included with a coupon, but I've had better and the delivery guy forgot the orange sauce. I ordered three dishes and I'll list them in the order liked: Tomato Pepper Beef Chop Suey, BBQ Pork Fried Rice, and Chicken Subgum Chop Suey.
