    Fries and fried chicken BLT

I have been eating here for several years and I am never disappointed! I have enjoyed everything I have tried on the menu (except the pimento Mac and cheese - but that is because I don't like pimento, my friend loved this dish though). My absolute favorite is the fried chicken BLT. I wait for it every August, and it literally makes me so happy because it is THAT delicious. Their corn muffins and honey butter are the perfect combo I also love the chill and welcoming environment. Staff is friendly. And the outdoor patio is very cute!

I was craving some chicken so we came here. The place was packed and loud but in a good way, everyone seemed happy to be there. The smell of fried chicken hit right when we walked in. The guy at the counter was super helpful, got our order quickly. I got the 2-piece chicken with honey butter, two corn muffins and a side of mashed potatoes, one drumstick and boneless breast. Honestly, great choice. The chicken came out hot, crispy, and golden. First bite... wow. Super juicy, tender all the way through, not dry at all. You could taste and feel that fresh-fried flavor. The honey butter melted over the muffin, I didn't expect to love that combo so much, but it just worked. The mashed potatoes on the side tied everything together, creamy and smooth. Everything on the plate was just pure comfort food done right. No fancy tricks, just really good chicken. Totally hit the spot.

Great experience here at HBFC. We made this a snack stop on the way from O'Hare to downtown Chicago to kill some time before hotel check-in. No parking lot but we were able to find street parking along Roscoe Street. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The space is very well-maintained. They have a good variety of main and side food options. We decided to stick with the tenders, fries, mac and cheese and corn muffins. That family-sized combo, along with two soft drinks cost about $63. The food was brought out to us in about 10 minutes...surprisingly quick, although it was fairly empty during our visit (Monday at around 12pm). Everything was really really good...very flavorful. The tenders were great, the fries (maybe double-fried?) were excellent and the corn muffins with the honey butter were amazing. Super satisfying meal...especially after a morning of traveling. There is a small station off to the side with plates, utensils, napkins, carry-out boxes, and water, if needed. All staff we encountered were welcoming, friendly and patient.

Ambiance - casual, relaxed, great for dates & families Service - order your food by the front counter or after you sit down, staff was super friendly, food came out quickly Food - the honey butter was sooooo good (you must have it with their signature corn bread), 4-piece chicken was juicy + batter was light, basket of tenders were slightly dry + garlic aioli it came with was super thick

On a very cold Saturday, our group was in search of comfort food. Fried chicken it was and we chose Honey Butter Fried Chicken. We ordered at the front register and got 2 of the brunch plates, a fried chicken plate and honey butter fries. The food came out rather quickly and we dove in. While the concept of everything honey butter sounds delightful.... It's much too much when the flavors aren't contrasting. Not everything should be honey butter flavored. The fried chicken also on its own was missing salt / seasoning. I didn't get the explosion of flavor that I was looking forward to. My kids also said their waffles were soft and they wanted it crispier. Great service and cute place - but I think we'll try other fried chicken places in the future. We left very underwhelmed.

Honestly, this was the highlight of my neighborhood visit to Avondale. Really welcoming place with nice windows and a Homey atmosphere. Quick service with the food and overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the chicken. My boyfriend got the chicken fingers with fries and I had the chicken Caesar wrap. I loved this wrap and I thought the addition of the kale was really good. I had half of it heated up for leftovers and it was even better. Definitely would recommend anyone looking for a good chicken Caesar wrap or just some fried chicken.

When did these lovelies come to town! Oooohhhhh! Juicy chickie tenders and sweet cornbread bites with HELLO! Honey butter! Straight Outta Chicago, IL these folks dropped by and delighted us with their chicken. It's delicious. I order the chicken tenders which comes with 2 cornbread bites, I didn't know that so I ordered a side of muffin bites, cornbread muffins with a side of honey butter. So good! Very addictive. The tenders are fried with cayenne and paprika and dang if they're not the juiciest tastiest chickie tenders in the fried chicken world! I also ordered the pimento mac n cheese and it's exactly that. I didn't care for it because I'm a traditional mac n cheese kinda gal but it is tasty. I do like pimento but on crackers around the holidays. It's different. Everything is really good quality. Give them a try and definitely order a side of muffin bites with an extra honey butter!

07/30/23 - How do I start this review after passing by Honey Butter Fried Chicken for so many years I stopped in and took advantage of an offer for a free meal. I mean how do you say no especially when it's been on your bookmarked list of Yelp Restaurants. The reviews are very mixed from good to not so good so this is a difficult review for me especially since I was able to score a free meal. The restaurant is on the corner @ 3361 N Elston Ave. They have a nice outdoor dining area and today was a near perfect day 75 degrees & sunny. There is also an nice interior space both were busy when I went in around 2pm. The staff @ Honey Butter Fried Chicken is outstanding they were all very attentive & super friendly. Alessandro is the manager & my host that graciously offered me a meal on him. Thank You very much Alessandro. That being said I want to give a fair & unbiased review. Like I said the service was outstanding 5 stars but unfortunately I didn't find the food to be exceptional. I feel like kind of an ingrate as my meal was comped to me. When I went in Alessandro took my order. I got a 4 piece chicken that came w/4 tiny muffins. My side dish was Macaroni w/pimento cheese. I also ordered a piece of key lime pie. The chicken I ordered had a slight spice to it. Honestly it was decent but nothing that I would come running back for w/dozens of chicken places in the city & suburbs. The pimento macaroni was way to salty and I only ate about 1/2 of it (sorry). The key lime was loaded w/sugar & too sweet for my taste. I'm sorry I don't mean to be ungrateful but the food was very mediocre, but the service was outstanding from everyone in the restaurant. Thanks for the great service

As I write this, I am still sitting here on the back patio. It's spacious, there's room for many families or couples or single diners. It's clean, sunny colors. it's actually quite lovely. The food was amazing, delicious. I've had the food several times. It has always been very good. Very consistent. The reason I'm leaving my first review for this restaurant, because I live down the street and had often thought I should just walk up there by myself and have a meal. I did just so today. It's been awhile since I was here, so I did not realize there was no tipping, or at least obligated tipping, there's not even an option on the pay screen. And yet, the service was perfect. Smiles at the order counter, and patience while a few of us Perused the menu. And then my food was brought to me with a smile, anything extra, "I got you". Sometimes eating alone, you can get less attention, not the case here. I wasn't having a very good day. But the nice people here and their smiles and willingness to get what I needed, cheered me up. I'll be back. More importantly, so should you.

Think they renovated lately. Weekends they start brunch at 10 am now until 3 pm, check their website for the latest! The chicken is tender and fried to perfection. Portions are a little small but I'd take quality over quantity. Staff is very friendly. The chicken waffle was amazing, fluffy and crispy on the edges with just a touch of savory.

Nice enough vibe, but $15+ for just a chicken sandwich? Sides and drink jack it to $25. Cmon now. Really? Samples I got were worth $, maybe. Geez

It was my first time at this spot and I'm out of town but the fact that it wasn't busy around 1p for late lunch was awesome! As an adult, if you're wanting to try a little of everything I highly recommend the KID's meal and they won't make you feel bad at all for ordering it! :) 100% recommend the sauces they have and the jalapeño one is actually amazing as well as the classic honey butter. This is a super casual spot and the staff is very nice. Food is delicious and I'd absolutely return!

Ask the Community - Honey Butter Fried Chicken

Is there MSG in the fried chicken?

Pretty sure there isn't. This place is very non-gmo and eco conscious.

    Are dogs allowed?

I would assume they are allowed on the patio. But inside the space isn't that large and a dog might be a bit intrusive for other guests. Thankfully they have a large back patio.

Are the Wednesday wings breaded differently? They look completely different from the other chicken pics.

they're not breaded differently you just get more because of the special. 5 whole wings regularly vs 10 whole wings on Weds. plus they also have monthly special flavors so it's possible they look different than the regular ones.

They also have a patio, and with the weather being nice, it was easy to just sit outside and relax for a while. I was honestly too hungry to spend much time deciding, so I just ordered one of the sourdough donut ball. It was exactly what I was hoping for. The outside had a light coating of sugar that gave it just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. Once I bit into it, the inside was soft, airy, and slightly chewy from the sourdough, which made it different from a regular donut. There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. It had a light crispness on the outside, then a warm, pillowy center that practically melted away with each bite. I finished it way faster than I expected. The only thing I forgot was ordering something to drink with it. Looking back, a good coffee would've made it even better. Still, I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the area.

Our family and extended family often ordered birthday cakes from them, and their mango cake was our favorite. When mangoes were in season, they used plenty of fresh mango in the cakes. Their cakes are always fresh, light, fluffy, and not too sweet. My daughter and I also love their individual cakes, especially the Black Pearl and Walnut Cake. Their pineapple buns and egg tarts are her favorites as well. Saint Anna has also been part of our daughter's childhood. When she was little, my husband used to bring her here before or after Chinese school in Chinatown on Sundays. Her go-to breakfast items were the Butter Bun, Ham and Macaroni in Soup, and Diced Ham and Corn in Cream Rice. As she got older, Curry Chicken with Potato became her favorite. She especially loved the potato cubes soaked in the delicious, mild curry sauce. She would always ask for more potatoes and less chicken, haha! Saint Anna is a family-run business, and Sara and Irene, the daughters-in-law, used to take care of the front of house. They were always so friendly and accommodating. After a 6-year hiatus, we finally returned one Friday recently when we happened to be in the area with a friend. Sara is now a co-owner, and it was wonderful to see her again. She immediately recognized us and was so warm and welcoming. She even asked me to relay her greetings to my sisters when she greeted us and again when we were leaving. Those little gestures made our return feel especially meaningful. We were still full from a big dim sum lunch, so my daughter picked up 2 Mini Pineapple Buns and 2 Paper-Wrapped Sponge Cakes, while I got a Red Bean Roll. Everything was fresh, soft, and delicious, and the total came to just under $8, really a great value. Our friend also purchased 2 Fried Sticky Rice Dumplings with Chicken. I had never really paid attention to their limited dim sum selection before, so that was a nice discovery. We love Saint Anna and will definitely be back whenever we're in the area.
