At first I would have given this place five stars. The front desk lady is super nice, the staff is friendly, and the doctor made my visit comfortable. I finally found a place to keep going back to - UNTIL today. i got a filling not too long ago and i'm on a trip in hawaii. my tooth was sore right away but everyone told me that's what happens after a filling. after a week or so i looked at my tooth and it looked a little cracked (which explains the pain). i called and asked to speak with the dr since i'm on an island. i want to know if it's ok to wait to get it fixed when i'm back on the mainland. i don't feel comfortable getting it done on the island. instead of taking a couple minutes to answer some questions, the dr had her reception call me back and let me know she doesn't have time to speak with me and i'll have to ask someone on the island. thanks for the help doc! i knew it was too good to be true. read more

I have only had one other dental experience in my life, I am 65, that was good, and Jennifer Voke DDS/Lindsey were superb for years, but I had to move so I was dreading trying to replace them. Dr. Chapman has made this a breeze! I hadn't been able to go for two years, but Dr. Voke got me on the right dental hygiene track, and Dr. Chapman took it from there. Neither one of these dentists hurt me at all when injecting the roof of my mouth, and their assistants/hygienists were the best I've encountered. 7/10/18- I haven't been able to take Dr. Chapman's fine advice concerning seeking orthodontic treatment so I am still holding the line and under excellent, quality care. I recently moved and was signing up for my new dental care. I needed to provide the contact information for my previous dentist, Dr. Chapman, and was surprised to see all of the negative reviews here. I was a patient of Dr. Chapman's for approximately 9 years, beginning in 2006 and ending around 2015. I always had a good experience with her and felt my oral health was her number one priority. I also never had any billing issues. It may be because I had top notch dental insurance, but I never felt any services they provided were unreasonable, unnecessary, or costly. One time I had an issue with a filling they had replaced. Food kept getting stuck between the teeth where the filling had been replaced. I brought it to the attention of the office and they prioritized my visit to have it fixed, free of charge. The only reason I discontinued visiting Dr. Chapman's office was due to the proximity of the her office to where I lived and my kids' daycare. If I lived, worked, or had childcare closer to her office I would have remained a patient. The main downside to this dental office is the high turnover rate of dental hygienists. I had the same dental hygienist my entire life prior to moving to Dr. Chapman's office, but at Dr. Chapman's office it seemed I had a new hygienist every visit. My advice to her is to make the changes necessary to retain hygienists as hygienist consistency is highly valued by customers. read more

I agree with all the negative things everyone has to say about this dental office. I do not recommend anyone to go to Dr chapman. Dr Chapman and her staff are nothing but liers. I actually work in a dental office and know that for a fact. I had a crown done by Dr Chapman 2 1/2 years ago and had to pay 1600.00 dollars for a crown that had to be replaced due to an open margin that was her fault even though she said I caused it by not flossing it so I must have a new cavity there that caused it but the only reason I would have a cavity underneath a crown is due to the fact that it wasn't sealed right to begin with so after time bacteria gets underneath it and causes a cavity but it's kinda funny how when I replaced the crown by the dentist I work for I asked if there was a cavity there and he said no. I even gave there office an x-ray that was taken where I work of the open margin Dr Chapman claims she can't see it and would need to take a new one and charge me for it that was a bullshit lie cause I took that same x-ray to another dentist beside the one I work for and he said he could see it perfectly clear and did not need to take a new xray the staff even laughed when I told them she said she couldn't see it. What a joke and then she talked to my boss about it cause he's the one who told me about the open margin and why it was there and then has the nerve to tell him personal information about me trying to get me fired or in trouble for her crappy dentistry (breaking the hippa law) telling him I was sent to collections (cause I refused to pay for crappy dentistry) and she told him he needs to watch out for me like I'm the bad person here if anything shes lucky im not a bad person otherwise i would have turned her in to the dental board. This office and staff need to be shut down they r nothing but rip offs who do not stand by there work and people need to know about it. Also the front staff does not know what they are doing and should all be fired. When I wanted my records from there office and signed a release form I was told I wouldn't get my x-rays until Dr Chapman said it was OK really haven't heard that before and why does it have to be ran by her first does she have something to hide. Do not go here or give this office a dime. They are a joke. They are EXTREMELY difficult to work with. Do not waste your time or money she has a very nice looking office cause she rips everyone off. The office is located in a beautiful building, but just know THAT is what you're paying for: overhead. It's a nice office but the sales tactics are almost like a used car sales lot. The Dr gets pretty pushy about treatment, but doesn't know how much anything costs-she'll never discuss required payment- that's what her front office hound is for. When I've said that I can't afford all the crowns at once- she puts it back on you and says something similar to what timeshare sellers respond with/tactics. She's even done more fillings than I agreed to and I find out at the end when I'm paying!! And for whatever reason she has new staff almost every time I come in... not consistent. It's a beautiful office just know that even if you are cavity-free you'll still get pushed from the Dr to straighten, bleach, night guard, sealants etc.... Unfortunately the constantly turned over staff know it, which is why none of them (or their families) are patients. So FRUSTRATING!! New to the area and had hoped to find a dentist near my office, Dr. Chapman was closest so I gave her a shot. First visit went OK, seemed like the quote was high, but I knew i had a lot of work to do and figured things would be different (and more expensive) in a new town. I WAS WRONG!! On my second visit there was an entirely new staff and a brand new plan/quote for my treatment. It was ridiculous. Decided to go for a second opinion and SO glad I did. After almost 3 weeks of requesting xrays to take to new doc, I finally got the records I needed and found an HONEST dentist to take care of me. So very happy with my results, smiling all the time. Had dental service done here over a year ago, but feel like it's worth it to warn others. My girlfriend and I were scoping out new dental offices, and although we had a good initial experience with friendly staff, it quickly went South. I left the chair with a suggested list of procedures that had a final price of $6,000 (none of which is ever covered with insurance). Claimed I have severe sleep grinding - which I do not ($600 for a guard). Top and bottom Invisalign (not necessary), etc. Ended up going back to my old dental office (which I left due to moving far enough away) for a second opinion on her suggestions, and they told me none of this was necessary. If you do go and she says you have cavities, request to see the proof in the x-ray before agreeing. Avoid this place. read more

After visiting Dr Kimberly A Chapman, DDS in Bothell WA I write this review to save others the pain and frustration of using her as a dentist. She has no regard for anyone's time except hers. Be prepared to wait, sometimes even with the rubber dam on...and then she has to give you ANOTHER shot because she has let you set so long the first one wears off. She has a very strict and unreasonable policy: if you have to miss or cancel an appointment she charges you $50.00. This is kind of ludicrous, she thinks her time is more important than hers. She seems to have grown up very privileged as she cant seem to understand that not everyone can afford the "Cadillac" of treatment. She pretends to listen, but is only interested in her own agenda of up selling. She will ALWAYS find something that "needs" to be done..sealants, straightening, small cracks that have been there for a long time, that she says might break. She will not offer filling vs. crowns, she says that she can't do a filling, that is must be a full crown...again more money in her pocket. She has a wonderful staff, at least those that have been there for any length of time. Every time I go in there, there are new people, that once you talk to them, they are hired on a daily basis from a temp agency. She has trouble bringing even the temps back because she treats her staff so awful. And due to this she ends up with temps that are very inept. As for the front staff, every time I go in there, there is a new person at the front desk. Evidently the front desk lady often doesn't come to work, so the rest of the staff has to fill in for that person and with all the other things that she expects her staff to do, they just don't have time to greet people and treat them with kindness. At my visit for cleaning they took bite wing x-rays, Dr Chapman said she could not see 1 of they x-rays clearly and had another one taken at her request. Soon i got a bill from her office for $93 because my insurance now considered the x-rays as a full mouth thats allowed once every 5 years. Her staff has big turn over and i was told they would check with Dr Chapman and call me back, they never called. I'm now gatting a bill for $75 after no contact for 4 months. It seems as she is unethical in her billing and won't do the right thing and write off their mistake. On another visit i had to walk out as i sat in the chair for 45 minutes with never seeing the Dentist and was missing work, her staff says she double books patients. Wow, I thought I had found a great dentist, but now I am searching again. To be fair, my cleaning experience at the dental office was very good. However, I was then billed the full amount for my x-rays (which my insurance plan normally covers at 100%). I called the office to ask why the x-rays hadn't been covered, and I was told by the doctor that it was because my last x-rays from my former dentist were done too recently, and that they may have been unable to read them. I asked why I was not told that the last ones weren't readable or that they were too recent for new x-rays to be covered beforehand, and the doctor told me that there weren't any dates on the x-rays. I called my old dentist, who told me that all of their x-rays are dated. I asked my old dentist what they would do in this situation, and they said they do x-rays at no cost to new patients if they can't read the most recent x-rays and need to take new ones. I can't believe this place didn't warn me that I would be billed, and then wouldn't make it right when I called with my concerns. I was with my last dentist for several years and only switched because I moved. These people are silly to give up a good insured customer who gets regular dental care. LOUSY customer service/attitude and shady billing practices here! Go elsewhere! read more

Beware, beware, BEWARE! 1. The front desk receptionist are difficult to work with and are somewhat clueless. I asked the front desk receptionist if my insurance is in network. She said yes. Later I get a $434 bill because all the services I got were denied by my insurance because the work I needed was "unnecessary." (I received an exam, full mouth exam x-ray and deep cleaning) Also, MY INSURANCE WAS NOT IN NETWORK. 2. Although there is no law that requires offices to verify patients dental benefits prior to their visit, this office does not care your about whether you're eligible or not or how much you have used. I was not eligible for x-rays or an exam so I got billed for this. They do not know the limitations and every receptionist that I spoke with on the phone in order to resolve my bill all told me different information. 3. I received treatment last year during the spring. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I was still trying to resolve with them about this issue. I believe that Dr. Chapman does need to take responsibility for part of my bill because like I said before, I was told that I was in network although I'm actually not. It was a mistake done at their end. However, they refuse to take any responsibility or make any effort to negotiate all because of the consent that I signed. They will not budge. All they do is resubmit the claim to the insurance company over and over. In addition, you will be harassed with an overdue bill every couple of weeks and even a few phone calls asking you to pay. Also, they were supposed to call me to update me on the claim but when I do receive a call, they're calling for my payment. I got so fed up with them that I just paid the full amount 14 months later so that I can move on with my life. 4. MOST IMPORTANTLY, they changed they're fee on me after realizing that I am not in network which is ILLEGAL. I can report them to the Washington State Dental Board which I am still considering about it. These people are EXTREMELY difficult to work with if you come across a conflict. I was fine with Dr. Chapman for quite a long time, until one of the dental hygienists made comments on my acne and made me extremely uncomfortable. When I finally switched dentists, they found an incredibly high amount of cavaties. I had just gone to dr. Chapman 6 months before that and was told I didn't have any cavaties. My family went to Dr. Chapman for 3 years. My husband complained about pain and sensitivity in one of his molars at each visit and she told him each time that it was a nerve that must be exposed and the teeth were fine. We recently switched to a new dentist who told my husband that the tooth he had been complaining about was severly cracked and needed to be removed. Our new dentist took extensive x-rays and showed them to my husband explaining why the tooth needs to be removed...the crack went all the way through the tooth. The damage was not something that happened overnight. It took a long time for it to get to the deteriorated state of requiring removal. If she would have done a better job listening to him and truly investigating his complaints he could have saved the tooth and just needed a crown. Now he will have to have the tooth extracted, get a root canal, and have a bridge put in to replace the extracted tooth...oh, and he also has a blood disorder requiring him to be on blood thinners that he will have to quit taking for a few days prior to the extraction so he doesn't bleed out. She also made a night guard and lower retainer for me and I told her I had done Invisalign a few years ago and need to have something that wouldn't allow my teeth to move and she assured me the night guard she was having made for me wouldn't allow any tooth movement, but now approx a year later my teeth have moved a little and when I brought this up to her she argued with me saying they are exactly the same as the day she took my impressions. We will never go back to her and highly recommend against choosing her as your dentist. read more

I recently took my elderly 89 yr old father to Kimberly Chapman, DDS. She has been his dentist for several years. In the last few years he has skipped dental cleaning because he only has about 8 teeth and cant afford the high price of a full dental cleaning and does not have insurance. He recently broke off the front of a partial crown Kimberly had attached to one of his front teeth. He called to come and get it glued back on. She had him come in that day, we waited 45 min past his scheduled appt. The gal in the front desk kept apologizing for the wait. He was finally admitted, he came out with his tooth glued back on and a $340 bill. My father is like most elderly and barely has enough to get by on. She insisted on taking xrays and what not. I found this $340 to be outrageous to glue back the partial crown that she had originally made for him. This dental office is great. I think the Dr. and staff are very friendly, welcoming and professional. They treated me with respect and thoroughly answered all my questions (and I had a lot). I've lived all over the country and seen MANY dentists in the last 20 years of moving around. In my opinion this is one of the best I've seen. I'll definitely be going back for my checkups and any other work I might need. Know your dental plan and speak with the office and Dr. about work they are planning on doing. Understand their pricing and whether or not it'll be covered by your insurance. That's what I did and there were no surprises. read more

Our family's experience with this dentis was horrible. We were new to the area, and because I have several crowns and veneers in the front, I wanted a cosmetic dentist. Each family member had a care plan done and even though I was the only one with an extensive dental history, everyone was told that without a ton of work (and money) their condition was "hopeless" the office person gave us a print up of what our cost would be, but when it was over we were contacted and told it would be thousands more, because they didn't realize that our insurance wouldn't cover everything like they said it would. My parter had a missing tooth in the back from a childhood accident, and Dr. Chapmen told her that she needed to have a bridge put in to avoid problems with her bite. This of course required also putting in two crowns on either side to anchor the bridge. After weeks of post procedure pain, my partner called the clinic to see if she could get in to have them check the work. They refused to let her be seen without running all new x-rays and told her that she probably would need a root canal and that they didn't do them there anyway. Each time there was a problem with billing, the office staff would say that they were new, or that they had been on vacation. No one seems to know what is really going on in there, and obviously no one there knows how to check insurance information. On a good note...her hygienist was wonderful and should find a job in a better office read more

I hope you have a better experience than we did with this dentist but our entire family gave them a try for over a year and believe the office is 1) interpersonally dsyfuntional; and 2) professionally incompetent. Regarding the first, the office turnover is astonishing, and the office tension readily apparent. The dentist herself is obviously interested exclusively in payment rather than patient. This latter claim is supported by a) rushed procedures; b) making sure your schedule fits her brief schedule; c) draconian missed appointment policy. As for professional incompetence we experienced 1) my wife's temporary crown came off within a week--twice; b) my wife's permenant crown put on crooked which they were unable to straighten; 3) twice I arrived to find that my permenant crowns were not there and told to come back; 4) my temporary crown had to be smoothed immediately by another dentist; and 5) after my last permanent crown I had to immediately get another dentist to fix. (You can't go back the same day because they often leave by 1 pm thursday and are not there again till mondays. Finally if you dont want a rubber dam during a procedure good luck. The dentist's psychological need to control is real and masks and obvious insecurity. I hope you have better luck but I would advise you to choosse virtually any other dentist in the world. The only good thing I can say is that dentists she recommends--Dr Jeffrey Samyn and Dr Rubens--are both excellent. read more
