I went to Kimberly's because I am about to start chemotherapy and was told that my hair will almost certainly fall out. I am younger than 40 and don't want to deal with all the questions and looks that come with being bald. That being said, I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in there but the experience was great from start to finish. I first checked online to see if they were open because of COVID-19. They were open for appointments only but had a super easy appointment system. I walked in and was greeted immediately. Sunny helped me the entire time. She found me a wig that looked exactly like my own hair down to the style. I prefer real human hair wigs because you can wash and style them. I then told her that I was also looking for a longer "fun" wig. She found one that was great and looked wonderful. I am no longer nervous about losing my hair and working. when I walked in, I was unable to relax and just look around. I am not sure if she ever really understood what I wanted in a wig. When I did pick out a couple, she put a cap on me which i understand, but she didn't act with care, or patience. It was rushed, the wigs felt a bit "dirty" to me. I told her that I didn't think I'd be able to choose one today. She told me "$30 dollars". I had no idea I would be charged just trying on 4 wigs. During my "appointment " she was also helping someone else. If anyone is looking for a very high quality wig, with an amazing team of people, this is not a place you're going to want to visit. Same prices as Milano wigs in Los Angeles, but not of quality. I usually don't write reviews but I just want to save someone from having the experience I had today!!! read more

Losing your hair due to chemo is a very difficult thing to go through. I loved my natural hair and having to shave it off was one of the hardest things I've ever done. After a couple of failed attempts to find the right wig (including purchasing a very expensive custom human hair wig online), I was feeling defeated and pretty low. I ended up going to Kimberly's and was so pleasantly surprised. Annie was very empathetic, helpful, and sweet. She was my wig angel :) I ended up finding a wig that looks so similar to my natural hair - no one can even tell it's not! It made me feel like myself again and I am so grateful. I brought two wigs in to be washed and set. When I picked up my wigs, the wigs I was sent home with were not my wigs. While in the shop, I knew right away that the first wig had mesh around the forehead, my wig did not. It had a tag inside, that my wig did not. The second wig was a different style than the wig I originally brought in. The wig I was given also had a tag in it that my wig did not have. The straps that allow me to tighten the wig were brown. On my wig, the straps were white. I could not prove that the wigs I pickup up were not mine. The owner got me out of the store as fast as she could. I wish the younger woman had been there. I have always worked with her and it was always a great experience. She is gone now, regrettable. Won't be returning. read more

I had such a positive experience! Kimberly's has a great selection of quality wigs within an affordable price range. I was pleasantly surprised that I could afford such a beautiful and realistic looking wig (I was honestly expecting them to cost a lot more since the wigs are so beautiful). I was able to try on several styles before picking out the one that I loved! The woman helping me was very patient and helped me find the style of wig that I was looking for. I am very excited to go back to see what other styles they have to offer! I feel so beautiful with this hair! I am fairly new to wigs. I cut most of my hair off in December of 2017 after getting my naturally curly hair bleached for several months. My hair became damaged, gummy, brittle, and lost its curl pattern. I'm not a big fan of such short hair on myself, but I knew that I needed to let my natural hair grow out since it had become so damaged. I use wigs as a way to have long hair again, without sacrificing the integrity of my hair while it grows out. Had I realized that wigs were an option for me, I would have never bleached or chopped off my hair in the first place. I stopped into Kimberly's with my mom a few days before my wedding. After completing my hair and make-up trial with my stylist a few weeks earlier, I selected a side-swept partial updo and we decided that a bit more fullness with clip-in extensions would help complete my look. Though both of the women working at Kimberly's when we arrived were busy styling wigs at the front of the store, my mom and I were greeted almost immediately and the younger woman (Sunny, presumably) stopped what she was doing to come over and help us. Without much explanation at all, she seemed to know exactly what I needed and pulled a high-quality piece that matched my color almost exactly. When the price rang up at almost twice my budget, she patiently offered us other selections, pointed out the variations in quality, and laid them out so we could touch and compare each one. I ultimately selected a slightly shorter version of the first piece that was pulled. The price was still higher than I would have liked, but Sunny added in a 10% discount and I felt it would be worthwhile for the quality. It was. The clip-in pieces were easily styled and looked so beautiful in my hair on my wedding day that I left them in for several days after. Overall, I found the staff at Kimberly's to be friendly and knowledgeable. I don't know much about hair and wigs, but I imagine it would be hard to find a higher quality product in Santa Barbara. read more

Best wig store in the world! I've been wearing custom human hairwigs due to alopecia for many years. I moved to Montecito from Italy with my husband a year ago because he got a new job in Santa Barbara. Last year, I was going to order a new wig from the same place in Italy, but I decided to try something new. And that's how I met Sunny at Kimberlys wigs. I walked into the store and I told Sunny why I need a wig. She asked me a several questions about my wig experience and I could see that she was really trying to make my feeling comfortable.(And she really did!) During the consultation, she said that I don't have to get a custom wig because there are so many nice pre made ones. After buying so many wigs and visiting many different stores, She was actually the only one person who was not trying to selling me a custom wig. I could see that she does not work for the money. She was more interested in finding the right wig for me that cost does not much but still the best quality. After the consultation, she brought me a wig and when I tried it, I immediately knew this wig was IT. It was comfortable as much as the custom wig that I had, color was perfect, and just everything was right! I was very happy and a month ago, I bought one more wig and am still happy with the quality with it. Sunny works very hard. She is there everyday and every time I visit the store, I can see that she is really enjoying her job. But I wish people treated her more nicely. I visit the store at least once a week because I let them wash my wigs and style it for me. And sometimes I see ladies who are very not so.. nice to her. Seriouly ladies, you guys have the best wig professionals here. You are not in the hospital. It is not life or death. If you guys have problem with wigs, just simply ask to them to work on it. HORRIBLE customer service, rude and not helpful. Make you feel stupid. Went in looking for hair extensions. I had been comparing different brands online and wanted to get a feel for what the hair actually looks like and to see if I could just purchase what i wanted there. The younger woman who was trying to help me was rude and not so helpful. I could see huge boxes behind the counter with hair extensions ranging in price, color and length. Not once did she offer to look through these boxes to help me find what I was looking for. Rather she pulled out the most expensive brand. When I questioned the price (it was marked double for what i found online) I was told "why don't you purchase online then". I was so taken back all I could do was laugh. I then tried to shrug it off and be polite and explain further that I was only comparing and wanted to make sure If I did order online I would be getting the SAME hair as what I was able to check out. When I asked WHERE they order their hair and if I could get the name of the brand of hair they could not answer me and kept giving vague answers that they order it from NYC from a "whole-seller". read more

I recently found myself in need of a wig due to chemotherapy treatments. I thought it would be a long process to find something that looked natural & looked like my real hair but I was pleasantly surprised when I went to the one & only wig store here in SB. The ladies were super helpful and nice. They helped me try on several styles and then ordered one in the same exact color as my real hair. I'm very happy with it. If you need extensions put back in do not go to this salon. The glue they use is not what normal salons use and during the removal of the extensions Kimberly put in, the root of the extension contained a disgusting, sticky purple material. Do not recommend at all and overpriced. read more

I've been here a few times now and this last visit will be my last! Previously, I've had great experiences here, working with the younger woman, for she was very helpful, informative, and didn't try to upsell me. Today..I saw the older woman try and push a wig on another customer and tried to overcharge me! Just saying, be careful with the older lady. Watch your wallet with her because she just wants the sale! Previously, I've bought ponytails from the younger woman and they were a little under $20; today the old lady tried to sell it to me for $30! Conveniently, they had no price tags! I watched the old lady try to sell the woman wigs that literally looked like party city wigs! When the woman asked for a ponytail, the old lady wasn't even trying to match her natural hair color! I even whispered to the customer "be careful, she just price gouged me. Don't buy anything if you're not %100" and walked out. Buyer beware here! I have been to Kimberly's Wigs twice, now- once for Halloween last year and this time again for a different (and yet again, challenging) costume. Sunny has helped me both time (as well as Kimberly last year). I ENJOY coming to them! I was not there because I had to have a wig for any other reason but to 'dress-up', but each time, I was hoping for a certain look. And each time, they went out of their way to make sure I was happy with my wig. This meant CUTTING, STYLNG and CONSULTING for all of them. Mind you, I am coming during Halloween (and very last-minute, too). Sunny has managed to get my wigs finished in time without ANY attitude, and remembers who I am from a year ago. She has a kind heart and cares about people. Coming from a very extensive background in the retail and beauty industry myself, I know when someone goes out of their way (even under pressure), or when someone just does not have a clue (or does not care) how to treat others or to run a business. This is NOT the case at this place, at all. I know (maybe from experience and knowledge from waiting on others) that ALL of us are only human and if you have not been in this business, you may not realize as much, how important a fact this is.
