We had a fantastic stay here for the long weekend. The room was well decorated and particularly spacious which was nice for a change! It was so nice to have a proper restaurant in the lobby - we ate there for two nights and had such a lovely experience. The staff everywhere was kind and generous. They let guests borrow a polaroid camera for the day - my daughter loved taking pictures on our excursions while we were there. It was also a bonus that we could walk to Starbuck's in the mornings! This is also dog friendly, with a welcome list for your dog! Highly recommend this hotel and we will be back soon! read more

Had such an amazing stay at the Kimpton! The staff was very accommodating! Our room had a cute little view of the river next to the hotel. The front desk can give you a polaroid with film to use during your stay for a $75 refundable deposit as long as it is return in the same conditions it was given to you. That was honestly one of my favorite parts as i can keep little memories of our trip! They have a restaurant and bar in the hotel, and the front desk it open at night to buy snacks, drinks, and games. The bar was very busy when we were there so we never really got to try it. They also have a complimentary wine tasting 5-6pm. The room was very nice and clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. They are located almost across the street from the Boston Science Museum and only about a 10 minute drive from North End! They offer valet parking for $45/day or you can park right next to the hotel in a parking garage for $30/day. If you chose to park in the lot the hotel will provide a parking pass that allows you to come and go as many times as you want during the day without having to pay every time. The parking garage also has direct access to the hotel elevator. I would definitely recommend booking your stay here next time you are visiting the Cambridge/Boston area! read more

I recently held my wedding, reception and post-wedding brunch at the Marlowe Hotel. From the very start, Rachel and the planning team was welcoming, professional, accommodating and super friendly to work with. They offered great suggestions, were extremely communicative and responsive, and on top of every detail. On the day of the wedding, Kristen was a superb coordinator of all the set up, expertly working with us and staff to ensure all went smoothly. And it did! The rest of the staff were extremely professional, gracious and helpful throughout our stay. They made us and our guests feel right at home. And the food? It was exceptional! Our guests are still raving about the reception appetizers, entrees and brunch (the following day)! The presentation and quality of food was excellent and the portions were generous. Everything and everyone exceeded our expectations and the entire weekend couldn't have gone more smoothly. These will be lasting memories. Good hotel for the cost. You get a fairly large room with a mini-fridge, large plushy beds, and a large bathroom. My only issue here was the cleanliness of the room. There were several large scrapes, marks, and stains throughout the room. I noticed a few large marks on the walls and stains on the curtains which of course made me question, how good is the staff at cleaning this place. Overall nothing too terrible to note. If you're into walking this a perfect stay for that because the hotel is quite a ways away from downtown and places to eat unless you want to eat at the restaurant downstairs. read more

2 stars mainly for the service. The hotel itself is amazing. I was really excited for my fiance and I's stay here last weekend. I booked the room about 3 weeks in advance and reached out to concierge to have something small set up in the room for my fiance's bday before we arrived (e.g. a bottle of champagne, a happy birthday note). We agreed on this and I gave Jessica my fiance's name so it could be personalized. I did the digital check-in the day before, hoping that we could check in promptly when we arrived. The check-in line was quite long upon arrival around 3:40pm (check-in is at 3pm), which was fine. Once we got to the front, we were told the room was not be ready and to wait. Around 4pm, our room was ready (again, not a big deal), but upon arrival to our room, nothing was set up for my fiance's bday which was very disappointing considering I informed them weeks ago. Plus, I paid for the suite so that we could make it special! I was certainly expecting better service when I'm paying close to $400 a night. When I reached to see what could be done, I was told that all 'amenities' are delivered around 4-5pm. We patiently waited... It was about 5:30pm and nothing had arrived. We had dinner plans so left and when we got back, there were chocolate strawberries and a bottle of champagne (yay!). However, the bday note was written out to myself, not my fiance. This whole thing was a disaster. Overall, the hotel itself is nice. The corner suite had a beautiful view. The room was clean and the bar downstairs was great. It's a great place to stay. However, if you're looking to set up something special with help of the team here, I would think twice. I've been a long time Kimpton fan and really enjoyed the whole experience. While this is a luxury hotel it doesn't rate a higher star sadly. We got off to a rocky start at checkin but after that the staff we encountered were wonderful. We were there for a wedding and the food was underwhelming given the establishment and the prices, it was delicious and service prompt, but that being said again underwhelming given the level of luxury the hotel boasts. The room we had, a jr suite was very spacious and the views exceptional, we were on the eighth floor. Sadly as a renovated room, within the last six's months we were told, it already showed serious signs of wear, again not up to the quality or price I would expect from a hotel if this caliber. There is a nice park next to the hotel and it's attached to a mall, with the river running by but after that anything else is a hike if your walking or a drive. read more

Hotel is great and interior is impeccable, just like you expect from Kimpton's aesthetics. But: 1. My dad came here by himself with 3 suitcases and nobody offered him help to bring the suitcases or even load the cart. Lobby just said, "Oh yeah, you can take that!" He was taken aback by their response after checking in. 2. There was some hair (looks like cut/shaved hair and loosely fallen hair) on the bathroom floor but we were told that "there is no other option at the moment". And also on the long pillow. They all mean the housekeeping did not go through them properly to me. Manager came in at night and inspected the situation and cleaned the stuff himself, which we appreciate. 3. The phone in my dad's room is dead. 4. We were not informed that hotel cleaning must be requested. I wondered what the use of the "do not disturb" sign is then. 5. Cafe was pretty good for coffee and breakfast. We are loyal to Kimpton but I am not sure, our experience is kinda unexpected. Anyway, props to the overnight manager with a manbun!! read more

Super lovely staff, the rooms are beautiful and clean, and there's a free wine reception every night from 5-6pm!!! Honestly, what more could you want? If you miss the wine reception, they'll even hold some wine for you at the front desk. Sometimes they put out activities in the beautiful lobby to do (for Halloween they had pumpkins to draw on) during the wine reception, too. I had such a great time! read more

I booked a room at the Kimpton Marlowe In Cambridge for a romantic getaway with my partner, more specifically for a relaxing spa night in the beautiful, large tubs that are pictured on the website/google as "Bathtub". When booking I went for the only package with "bathtub" in the name, since there were no interior tours of the bathrooms, only the room itself, there was no for sure way to tell but since it was $100 more I assumed it was the large tub. They only had the accessible Bathtub room so I booked for that and we packed and set off, when we arrived we found a tub not even big enough for one of us to fit in! After asking the staff about the picture versus our room they informed us it was the Suite and those are the only large tubs in the hotel. At this point we decided to make the best of it, we were going to try to fit in and when we go to turn the bath on we get blasted by the top shower head. We call maintenance after 10 minutes of fiddling with it and even he cannot figure out the issue, he then says he will move our room and try to get us an upgrade. He returns and says he has moved us 10 doors down and left us a complimentary wine bottle, it is a cheap pinot gris and the new rooms bathroom is even smaller!! At this point i just want to relax and I'm dehydrated from the room move, we go to get ice and water and the only water that isn't tap is $9 a bottle!! We have one back in our room so we say F-it and crack it open, I MEAN LITERALLY had to stab the top open because they wouldn't bring up water and the bottle was defective!!! After that we go for a walk to clear my head and we come back to a very hot room, we turn the thermostat all the way down to 65° and the fan on High but still no difference we both sweat the entire night. This place looks nice on the outside but was very disappointed the same did not reflect within the hotel, Very disappointed. read more

Were I to have one recommendation for the Kimpton Hotel Marlowe it'd be this: Consolidate your outdoor ashtrays into a single area. The only outdoor space this hotel sports is that in the off-street roundabout for valet parking. In this space, which is quite pleasant, there are comfortable seating areas on either side of the valet stand and hotel entranceway. Also on either side? Ashtrays. I enjoy sitting outside, both in the morning over a cup of coffee and in the evening when Red Sox games are being projected in giant format, onto a wall in this area. Why then, should I be forced to do so amongst smokers? No sooner did I sit in one comfortable chair grouping than a smoker would appear to use the ashtray nearby. If I moved to the other side the situation would repeat itself. Hotel Marlowe, please consolidate ashtrays and amass smokers on one side and leave us non-smokers a little space from which to enjoy your outdoor space. Tiny rant over; that is my sole complaint about this hotel. Hotels in Boston are expensive and the Marlowe, because of its location, can be found for a little less overall than an equivalent place in the Back Bay area. The secret here is that this hotel is extremely well-located for your foot-based foray into Boston proper. It's also mere blocks from the Larchmere T stop. Staying in this part of Cambridge is, as such, as good as being right in Boston. Like I've been led to understand about every Kimpton hotel, they are quirky and fun providers of rooms. Translation? Free, nightly wine happy hour, free bicycle rentals (locks and helmets included), free kayak rentals, 24/7 gym, free morning coffee (and snacks) downstairs, and dogs permitted. This is a nice assortment of offerings. Upon check-in I was happily upgraded to a water-facing room and given a chit (redeemable in the on-site restaurant) for my free wine since I'd missed the earlier happy hour. Neither of these were necessary, both were welcome and appreciated. I liked the way this hotel did these small things, upping my enjoyment level. The hotel itself is immaculate and the rooms are comfortable and reasonably spacious. The room lacked a dresser though, so if you're one who unpacks into the room furnishings you won't be doing so here. You'll also fall short if you're a fan of highfalutin' hotels. For all its charms the hotel is not a showstopper, it's simply quite nice. Self-parking is $25/day ($35/day for valet) and you can get here easily from Logan Airport via the T. Bottom line? Next time I'm in Boston I'd have no hesitation about staying here again. read more

Part of the Kimpton chain, the Hotel Marlowe is mildly high-end hotel in Cambridge, near the Museum of Science and the Galleria Mall. The hotel building is about 10 years old, so the place still has a sheen to it and everything in the rooms works pretty well. It is connected to the Galleria Mall via a tunnel and although I am not a huge fan of malls, I did end up eating breakfast at the food court both days and popped into the CVS to pick up some things. The hotel is a few blocks from a Green line station (Lechmere), and a slightly longer walk to the Orange line (Community College) as well as the Red line (Kendall /MIT). The hotel is a decent size, but is not overwhelming like the hotels in Back Bay. The staff was very friendly and helpful and they definitely made you feel welcome. They have a library / lounge on the first floor, with comfy couches. There is also a decent fitness center and there is a restaurant, Bambara, onsite as well. One thing I really liked was Lechmere Canal Park, which is directly next to the hotel and iss peaceful and a nice place to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. The rooms were very well appointed. The bed was very comfortable and the desk chair was also great as I had to do some work while there as well. The bathroom was on the small side, but it was very clean and the shower had great pressure and temperature. They also stock the bathrooms with Etro shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap. read more

Stayed at this hotel as the last part of my mattress run to achieve Spire status... having stayed here before with my family, I was excited to see what was to offer this time around. While my group got a nice suite upgrade and we got to spin the Just Chilling wheel for free parking, I was a bit disappointed with the service and the room. There were weird marks on the door and there was a leftover ripped bag from someone's previous stay behind the curtain. They forgot to deliver my water after 1.5 hours of waiting and were generally just slow at requests as well. read more

The experience was great. The service was amazing. They were very nice at the front desk. The minibar was awesome. The room was a little small but the value for the price I paid was excellent. I was able to book in the low hundreds. With parking it brought the total to roughly $160. The one complaint I have and the reason for three stars review was a housekeeping issue. The bed had been made without a bed sheet and we didn't notice until it was past midnight and simply didn't feel like dealing with the awkwardness of having someone come do it. This ended up being kinda uncomfortable as we were sleeping on just the sheet but ohhh well. If the bed had been made correctly I would give 5 stars no problem. I gave this feedback on one of the post-stay survey's they distribute and someone reached out to apologize. They told me to contact them the next time we stay. read more

I never wrote reviews, but the doorman at the hotel said the F word to me. It totally ruined my trip. I stayed here for 4 nights from 5/21 to 5/25. On 5/21 Friday, I was really exhausted after catching a 6am long haul flight. Around 7:40pm, I went outside to pick up some food. I suddenly felt dizzy and threw up on the walkway near the courtyard. The doorman, a Caucasian in his 30s/40s (he was there on Sat too), shouting at me, " Jesus Christ, you f***, this is a hotel..." After I said I stayed here, he mumbled"sorry" without even looking at me. At the end, another tall staff came out from the side door and was nice enough to give me a bottle of water. That is the whole story. My thoughts, Everyone shared the moment of being sick during travel. I am sorry for the mess. but F word is unacceptable ! As a minority. This incident hurts my feeling. I cannot stop thinking if I was a young girl or white guy, would he react the same way? . For the sake of argument, even I was a random drunk from other places, shouldn't his first reaction be "are you ok ?" In this Covid world, cannot we treat each other with more kindness? We loved staying at this Kimpton Marlowe! It was conveniently located in Cambridge just 5 minutes away from the main Downton Boston/North End area. Upon arriving, the gentleman at the front took our bags right away and placed them for us inside. Heidy, at check-in, was SUPER nice and helped accommodate our needs. She went above and beyond during our check in and check out to ensure that we had an excellent and comfortable stay. Our room was super clean, modern, beautiful, bright, and spacious. The room was nice and cool. The beds were SUPER comfortable. There was a fridge. We called down to have coffee machine brought up and they brought it right away. Our view overlooked a beautiful garden and the downtown Boston area. We asked Khalid where we should go for dinner celebrations that night and he kindly offered us a few suggestions that he thought we would like. The hotel is a short walk from downtown and a moderate walk to Harvard Square/Somerville. There is a reserved entrance, so it's super easy to get into Ubers. There's also a CVS/mall closeby in case you need to pick up any items that you need. We went down to the restaurant for brunch one day and we had a great time. The food was amazing; great selection offered. Our server was AMAZING - so nice, so responsive, so attentive (probably one of the best that we had in Boston)- and the overall dining experience was wonderful. There was another woman who helped us on our second day with extending our trip, which was very helpful. Overall: great location (close to Harvard square, go-to spots in Cambridge, and downtown Boston). Walkable. Easy to get an Uber. Close to stores. GREAT rooms (comfortable bed, spacious, bright, cool). Great amenities (coffee maker, fridge, microwave if you need, happy hour, coffee hour in the AM), and super friendly staff (Heidy, Khalid, everyone else at the front desk - sorry didn't catch your names!! -, the servers at the restaurant), and the restaurant too. Initially I made the mistake of booking the Marlowe instead of the Onyx downtown. My family and I were going to Fenway during our stay and I thought Cambridge would be too far if we ended up walking back. When I went to change our reservation I went back and looked at the reviews for both. The Marlowe overall had better reviews for the its location, amenities, and Pet-friendliness. We very much enjoyed the location and with how convenient it is to walk your dog. We took advantage of their loaner pet supplies and that was such a relief! Prior to the game we rented a taxi and on the way back we ended up walking (it's a little far but it's doable). I am bummed we did not get the opportunity to enjoy all of the amenities of this hotel such as the free bikes or wine hour but I do plan on returning. The only tricky thing is parking but everyone is so helpful. read more

This is one of the best hotel experiences I can remember. It was essentially flawless. Here are a bunch of reasons why. 1. The bed is heavenly. So nice that you even forget just how lonely you really are. 2. The shower pressure is absurdly strong. 3. The shampoo/conditioner/soap provided is high quality. 4. The list of complimentary toiletries they can provide is comprehensive. 5. Free wine happy hour. I missed it, and gave me free glass of wine at the bar. 6. Said bar is just expensive, and not exorbitant. 7. There are outlets in the bedside lamps. No searching behind furniture necessary. 8. It is decorated not only interestingly, but tastefully as well. Very difficult to do. 9. Before my stay, I got an e-mail offering to have a picture of whatever I wanted waiting for me in the room, so I would feel at home. This is very sweet and just a touch creepy. I'm a little upset that I let myself get talked out of sending in various inappropriate options. And let me just say: If you're going to stay in a Kimpton Hotel, and you aren't a member of their rewards program, get your life together. You're just missing out on all sorts of wonderful things. What kind of things? 1. A New York Times delivered to your door every morning. 2. Free wi/fi in your room. 3. A $10 credit to the mini-bar. (I had some lovely nuts. That is not a euphemism.) This past weekend - I went to Boston for my sister's wedding. From the moment I stepped off the plane I began to feel a headache approaching, because wedding's inherently mean ALOT of family time. Family time, when it comes to my family is great, for like the first hour - but as hour 2 rolls in, I can feel my head start to throb. We all fall back into our "family" roles, and before I even have time to claim "first" shower, my mother has begun arguing with my sister about something;. my brother is getting angry at my mom for making him miss the most updated score of the football game. And I can hear my voice getting whiny as I beg my brother to change the channel back to the mind numbing reality TV show I was watching. At this point it is abundantly clear, we are all in need of a long vacation from our just beginning one. Hotel Marlowe amidst my family's fighting managed to not only ease our fighting, but remedied sleeping situations (they provide comfortable cots for extra guests), and provided a beautiful classy backdrop for my sister's reception. It was a superb location for all of our out-of-town guests that came into Boston for the weekend and had little time to explore the city. With the Galleria mall right next door, it was perfect for forgotten suit jackets and food court cravings. Hotel Marlowe is not your typical hotel. As part of the Kimpton chain - it strives to be memorable. Inside each room is a strange clashing of Declaration of Independence curtains, fake fur blankets, and leopard skin themed folders, robes, pillows and rugs. It is a total interior design trip, both in and out of the rooms. Sometimes cringe-worthy, but often pretty remarkable, fun, and unique. Unlike any of the Marriots and Sheratons that I've been in growing up I actually remember the decor in Marlowe. I was also a particularly big fan of their "spa quality" shampoos, soap, and conditioner in the bathrooms and the complimentary lighting in the rooms. Despite being a very obvious pale color, Marlowe's lighting actually gave me a nice warm glow (I'm a recovering Tanorexic.) My sister's wedding reception on Hotel Marlowe's second floor was beautifully executed. The food was excellent, the drinks were well made, and the whole night flowed effortlessly. Everyone was thoroughly impressed with the hotel's wonderful handling of the night. My only complaints with Hotel Marlowe, would be the poor room service and sometimes noisy rooms. The club sandwich that we ordered lacked bacon. Almost tasteless, and our cheese and toast plate - didn't have any toast (we had to scoop up the mediocre cheese with our fingers). (slight tangent: why does Room Service always suck. If I ran my own hotel I'd make sure that my room service was the best "hot" food around. I woud strive for AWARD WINNING ROOM SERVICE). Also, one of the nights there, I could hear an after-wedding party go on till easily past three in the morning. The walls seemed pretty thin, and I could hear every awesomly gossipy word next door till three in the morning. Fun in the beginning, but not so fun - when you're trying to get to sleep and hear some girl complaining about her boyfriend for a good half hour. But, If you're looking for a great place to host a large party, or a weekend getaway - Hotel Marlowe is a solid option. Just be sure to avoid room service, be aware that Hotel Marlowe does not have a pool, and to take advantage of the free wine around 5-6pm. Financial fraud alert! I stayed at Kimpton Marlowe Hotel in Boston from July 24th to 27th, 2022. I paid for my room, got a receipt, and left. I later saw that I was mistakenly charged for two rooms instead of one. I don't know how that happened, but I'm chalking it up to human error (and that's fine). However, when I got in touch with the hotel, they said I was wrong and that they only charged me for one room, and then sent me a receipt for a completely different room number than the one I stayed in! When I emailed them the original receipt I got from their front desk at the time of checkout and my credit card statement showing I was charged for two rooms, they stopped responding to my emails. I have sent multiple reminder emails to both Ms. Sophie Fleming (Assistant Front Office Manager) and Ms. Jessica Haralson to no avail. I am now in the process of filing a complaint with the consumer protection office, notifying the Better Business Bureau, opening an investigation with my credit card company, and seeking legal help. What I believed was a human error is now financial fraud since the hotel seems unwilling to resolve it. I am exhausted by their unprofessionalism, particularly that of Ms. Fleming and Ms. Haralson. The cost of my time and energy being spent doing this is not insignificant, but neither is a $1400 unexplained charge for a room I have no idea who stayed in! read more

Just thinking about what I want to write in this review is making me all giggly and smiley and nostalgic about my recent trip to Boston. It was my 2nd time visiting this year, but my first stay at Hotel Marlowe, or any Kimpton for that matter. I had been wanting to stay at a Kimpton for years now, because they are all just so cute & boutique-y and duh - wine reception (I mean, obviously.) - but this was my first real opportunity to splurge a little & treat myself to a relaxing birthday getaway, so when I got the email from Kimpton about some discounted rates on their Boston area hotels, I booked right away and started the countdown. I chose Marlowe rather than Nine Zero or The Onyx because it was a little more affordable. I was kind of nervous that its location on the other side of the river would mean I needed to take the T or a cab if I wanted to go downtown but it was TOTALLY walkable to both The North End & Beacon Hill and also to some cute little spots to eat and hang out in Cambridge. The best of both worlds! If you're still not convinced, the Lechmere station is right around the corner & you can just hop right on or grab one of the cabs that are parked & waiting out front of the hotel. Easy Peasy. Hotel Marlowe is attached to the Cambridgeside Galleria. There's a CPK, Cheesecake Factory & PF Changs, as well as a full food court (yuck)...but just say no to chain food & either try Bambara (which was closed for renovations while I was there....so bummed...) or go across the street to The Royal Sonesta and grab a lobster roll & a glass of wine at Art Bar because OMG yum & the views cannot be beat. I arrived super early....like 8:30am early. I'd planned to drop my bags & hang out for awhile till my room was ready. I had mapped out a place I wanted to try for breakfast & wasn't even sort of expecting to be able to check in at that hour, but a beautiful, smiling, welcoming face behind the front desk said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY! There might be a room ready for you! It can't hurt to check!" and sure enough, there was one room, all mine & so it began; my perfect stay. I woke up from my nap on that first day to an 8x10 of my son that they had slipped under the door. Had I checked in at a normal time, it would have been waiting for my on my bed. They had emailed me earlier in the week asking for me to send them a photo of something or someone I would miss while I was away. This is just one of the million things that makes this hotel so awesome... The room was immaculate and enormous, plenty of closet space & room to stretch out. The bed was an absolute dream. I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud....heavy, fluffy feather duvets, high thread count sheets, a mountain of pillows & this soft, fuzzy throw at the foot of the bed that was just decadent. I had been a member of Kimpton Karma for a while which is a great program with cool perks...$10/day mini bar credit along with free wifi. All day long they have chilled cucumber water in the lobby and in the mornings, they have a full complimentary coffee bar set up with everything you could need which is SO much better than having a crappy little drip coffee maker in your room. And then there is the daily wine reception - so much fun! It was such a cool treat in the afternoon to take a little break and just chill out, chit chat with the super friendly & awesome staff & munch on some bar nuts. Basically, if The Hotel Marlowe was a person, I'd want her to be my best friend. Is that nerdy? Totally. But I could get down with a BFF who knows the value of a cloud-like bed, remembers my birthday and helps me celebrate it in style, brings me wine every day at 5:00, thinks of the little things like keeping a picture of my little boy around in case I get lonely or homesick and who is always smiling and helpful and loves me back. Another recent long term stay at the Marlowe only makes me more of an enthusiast. I am just smitten with this place. Now they have little bags of granola waiting for you when you come down for your coffee- nothing fancy or gourmet, but it's free. And with the evening's wine tasting you get some delicious hors d'oeuvres from Bambara, the restaurant in the hotel. As a result of being a member of the Kimpton Club (sign up is free), I get a ten dollar credit for anything in the room's mini bar and free wireless. Free NY Times, Boston Globe and Wall Street Journal. On Sundays, when the papers are so expensive, this is a really great deal. They also leave some very nice magazines for you in the room. They offer free use of kayaks in the summer for a little trip out to the river. VERY nice. The staff continues to display a polite and amiable manner without being overly pretentious. And the rooms. I LOVED my room. I took pictures so check out the details if you like visuals. I ate several meals at Bambara, which is usually a good option. It is a peaceful, welcoming spot unless a game is on and Red Sox fans are in town. But I am as vocal as they are, so it's all fun. My first review was five stars. Absolutely loved our recent stay here, talk about a true pet friendly hotel! It was such a nice change for our pup to be welcomed instead of tolerated like at most other "pet friendly" hotels. Here at Kimpton they really treat your furry family members like people, welcoming them by name and fully equipped with a treat, plush pet bed and food/water dishes. Love that touch! As for us humans...they stay was equally as great. We were allowed to check in early, which I love, had a beautiful corner room facing the city views. The decor at this hotel is classic with a whimsical twist, the furniture in the room was over-sized making it a really cozy space, as usual the Kimpton style the bed was like sleeping on a pillow (making it difficult to get up early the next day) and my personal favorite... the animal print robes. I don't think those will ever get old for me. All of the staff that we met were friendly and helpful, offering us great tips on where to eat and how to get to and from places via public transit. I absolutely loved the fitness center; it was quite large and had some great cardio equipment, free & machine weights, yoga mats, headphones & fresh fruit. Plus...the hula hoops, I mean does it get any better? The onsite restaurant was delish, had a great crowd and was open late which we really enjoyed. We enjoyed a late afternoon snack here and sipped on some of the best Mojitos I have ever had. Only snafu was that the kitchen experienced some issues and room service was down for the night, which normally would really ruin my night, but the Kimpton staff saved the day bringing up menus for local delivery options as well as providing us with a free breakfast the next morning. I will definitely return here the next time I visit Boston. The location is perfect. It is next to the Galleria mall that you can access with 2 min walk across an indoor parking garage. When the mall is open you can use the Cambridge side free shuttle to drive you to and from the Kendall Square Red T station (otherwise a 15 min walk). It leaves from the Cheesecake Factory exit every 20 min. The Lechmere Green T station is only 5-10 min walk away. There are zip cars available here and there are also spots to plug in electric vehicles. Service was great. Front desk was friendly and check-in was quick. I had a King room that was really spacious. Bed was comfortable and looked stellar when you walk in. It's one of those places where you see the bed and just have to jump on it. On that note, the bed is strong since it held two people jumping on it without a problem. Found it interesting that they had Sealy Posturepedic mattresses specially made for Kimpton hotels. Fully stocked mini bar in the room. It is not one of those that can sense when you pick things up, so you can feel free to examine the food/drinks before using them. Wi-fi is free as long as you are a Kimpton loyalty program member (membership is free and you can sign up before or right when you connect to the wi-fi). Italian made toiletries in the bathroom. The list of complementary things they provide "if you forgot it" includes more than the usual items, such as, nail clippers, band-aids, international plug-in adaptor, steamer and more. The Marlowe is a boutique hotel, so the decor is interesting. The bedside lamps had a bust of a man (maybe Mr. Marlowe and Mr. Kimpton?) which had a separate switch just to illuminate the base of the lamp to accent the bust. Artsy shaped mirror. To top it off they provide animal print robes to use during your stay. It has to match the leopard printed hotel info guide. Gym is small, but well equipped. It is one of the only places that has hula-hoops. They also give you a jogging map in your room too. During the warmer months the hotel also provides bikes and kayaks, although I'm not sure how many of each are available. The hotel offers valet parking, but it is easy enough to to do the self-parking with in and out privileges. The garage entrance is just 20 ft from the front of the hotel and well marked. It costs $20, but well worth it considering it is indoors and well secured. Other hotels in the Boston area charge $30 and above for parking. The hotel also offers complementary coffee and Tazo tea in the morning and an afternoon cocktail hour from 5-6. Didn't attend the cocktail hour, but did take advantage of the coffee/tea. Pre covid review: They do a lot of special events here with different bartenders from around the city, so I would recommend checking this place out. I went for a santa event and they had a lot of interesting drinks on the menu -- I only had one but it was very much a christmas drink. Other places might say they have a christmas themed bar, but this one really went all out. read more

The customer service of this hotel - from the concierges to the valets - is 10*. I can't believe how amazing everyone at this hotel is. The location is very convenient to nearby train station and just a short 10-minutes Lyft ride away from downtown. The decor is modern (several Kush pieces). My only feedback: increase the water pressure on the shower :). read more

Just spent a week at this property. My ranking following evening checkin (9 pm) was 0 due to very inappropriate behavior by the sole front desk agent. A guy like this should never be in charge of the hotel. He was also the only hotel employee to nevet be wearing a mask. But my rating quickly rose to a 4. Our room (a 1 room suite) was very quiet (although facing major road) and comfortable, and had a nice view of the Charles. All the other employees we encountered were great. Lots of very good restaurant close by. But guests are required to pay a $20/day Activity Fee, which I hate. Benefits include use of a Polaroid camera, old bikes, kayaks in the Charles, etc. - as well as a $10/day credit at their restaurant Bambara. As you can imagine - the restaurant food is very generic and overpriced, and the ambience is cold. There is a Starbucks across the street in the Sonesta hotel for breakfast if one doesn't want to walk 10 minutes to Tatte. read more

I'm still here at the hotel and I couldn't wait to write this review! This place is unbelievable! Clean, modern and fun. They asked about my 5 yr old when placing the reservation. I thought the kid sized robe and real fish"pet for the day" was her surprise. Oh no! Cookies, milk, toys etc. she said it was the best day of her life. Friendly service. Room service tasted good and was affordable ( we got burgers, same price as like a 99 restaurant but other entrees were up there but very interesting and I would have ordered it if I felt like steak or fish) Other than not having a pool ( where would it go?) My wife and I are staying here for 4 nights while undergoing a very exhaustive and quite daunting search for a place to live in Boston. This hotel is beautiful, on a great location, a great restaurant, and has very professional and top notch staff. Just when we thought that it couldn't get better, we arrives to our room late at night after another home search to find a bottle of Champagne, delicious chocolate (which my new wife attacked), jelly beans ( which I attacked) awaiting us. It was an amazingly thoughtful gift and card from Taylor and Kayla at the front desk. Two of the cutest and kindest young ladies we met on our whole trip. They made our journey complete. I really enjoyed my stay at hotel Marlowe. The location, price, and customer service all were amazing. Not to mention the complimentary wine happy hour everyday from 5-6. Such a great perk! The rooms were nice (pillows a little soft) but other than that nice comfortable rooms. The check in process was quick and painless. The amenities were great as well. They had free bike rentals, free kayak rentals, free paddle board rentals. The hotel was right across the river so it was a great little perk! I would definitely stay here again! read more

I am a huge Kimpton fan and use their hotels whenever I can on my business trips. They are a comfy, cozy hotel chain that usually does not disappoint. My husband and I were having our wedding anniversary (27!) and wanted to go somewhere special but not too far because of issues at homebase. I got an email about a special here and we jumped at the chance. I love the location, I love the style, I love the staff ... having a wine happy hour is a plus as well. The rooms are lovely, clean and eclectic ... and a good size for a city hotel. We also did not have to go far for our anniversary dinner either since they have a decent place on site -that review is to follow! My only complaint is that anything extra will cost you extra (like movies). We also had an issue with being charged for something in the room bar but one phone call and it was resolved easily. read more

The hotel will not provide a receipt for my stay. I need to give it to my office. No one answers phones. This shouldn't be that difficult. Additionally, my room was in the middle of a block of rooms for a bar mitvah with kids screaming in the hallway. Sure would be nice to speak with someone.... read more

The hotel is actually fine, but I consider wifi internet connection to be table stakes in 2018. At this price, I don't appreciate the daily fee nickle-and-dime approach. Seeing as this is my first 10-minute experience trying to respond to some important work issues on the west coast where it's still mid business day, I'm not enthusiastic. Kill the free wine, I'll pay for that, but make the Wifi free. If I wasn't so put-out by the wifi issue (which means who knows how much time to expense it later, so thanks for that) I would say it seems like a nice place. read more
