I recently stayed at the Kimpton Schofield to have a celebration with my partner. We came in at 3am off of our train from Pittsburgh to find a front desk assistant to let us through the door. We were checked in fairly quickly with no hassle. When we arrived to our room, found they gave us a nice bottle of wine, chocolate and pretzels to help with our celebration! The bed was extremely comfy, and the sheets soft. It made sleeping easy, even with the noise of downtown Cleveland. The bathroom was very roomy, through the open shower became a problem when the pressure kicked in and splashed water on the floor. Nonetheless, the pressure was appreciated. In the morning after my shower, they have complimentary tea and coffee for guests; while my partner slept, I went downstairs to snatch us two cups of tea to our room. It was a good start to the day. We had breakfast at the restaurant inside the hotel and they were very accommodating to vegan diets. Oatmeal, sourdough and potatoes. We were very impressed with what they gave us. Every day we came back to our room, the maid had cleaned it spotless, and did a great job. We were leaving via train at 2am, so we were able to have a late check out at 5PM, to rest and get our belongings together. When we lost our amtrak ticket, they were able to print us a new one and kept our bags while we went to our last dinner in Cleveland. walking in... the room is in my name, i give the valet my name and he tells the guy with me how much the parking is... walking in, the desk ignores me while they help the girl in the pretty dress check in (because it takes two to check in one...) go up to the room... there's scratches in the furniture finishing and the actual white grout in the bathroom is dirty... ps y'all, if you are going to install white grout, teach your cleaning staff to scrub it sometimes? there's a faded splatter pattern on the wall near the toilet itself... this Kimpton does NOT live up to the reputation! however, this morning, the jasmine green tea and coffee were COMPLETELY amazing, the complimentary bike to ride around town (no i didn't borrow, but if i had more time to wander, i was debating on it!!!) was the sweetest touch! the stairwell is one of the few interior spots that really feels like the reno classic architecture you expect to see hints of in a Kimpton hotel! oh and the shower temp, THANK YOU for keeping hot water hot and flowing!!!! so for the night crew, checking in about ten pm on a friday night, and cleaning of the room, i unfortunately have to say one star, sorry... but it's a $500 room, i expect it to be clean and quick in people!!! in the morning, five stars, it's solid (just wish the restaurant opened earlier lol, but this is the "post-COVID" world we live in!) i likely will not be back, i'd rather stay across the street at the metropolitan 9... read more

The fact that this hotel caters to pretty much every need you may possibly what is wonderful. They have everything from toothpaste to a bike you can use. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are big. I give this a 4 stars because I thought some of the furniture was kind of blah and this might seem stupid but the toothbrush I needed to get was absolutely horrible. I forgot my toothbrush at home so they brought me up one and it was so bad. The bristles kept coming out and getting stuck in my teeth. It was an awful experience. They should really invest in some normal toothbrushes. read more

If you want a bad experience, stay at this hotel. It starts with the valet, which has space for three cars on a very busy street. So, if you're the fourth car (which is often), you'll be stuck in the middle the street with traffic honking at you. This experience is enhanced by the surly valets. If your room is on one side of the hotel, you'll be living in a dark cave using your cell phone light to sort through your suitcase. Why is there no ceiling lighting? I don't know. Planning to leave the hotel at a certain time in the morning? Skip the hotel restaurant, which was nearly empty and still took an hour to get eggs with a heavy side of attitude. But, be sure to call for your car from the valet at least 30 minutes before you need it or you'll be faced once again with the surly valet who doesn't care that you need to be somewhere or that that they told you to call five minutes before you needed your car. Like to hit the gym while traveling? The TVs are just props, none of them work. And the stationary bike that apparently had a subscription to a training service has lapsed. Are you looking for maid service after you've been gone for the entire day? Wrong hotel. Rest assured your room will be in exactly the same state in which you left it prior to that lengthy breakfast at the hotel restaurant. That lemon water in the lobby? Catch it while can because it won't be refilled. Want to complain? Good luck. No one cares. I'm an international traveler who has clocked years on the road. This is my worst experience ever. Love checking out new restaurants! Today we went to Bett's https://www.eatatbetts.com/ Located in the former Parkers restaurant at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel on East ninth. Their menu is Centered around classic American dishes with an emphasis on freshness, quality, and whole foods. They have a nice mix of sandwiches, salads, bowls. ( they also have a breakfast and weekend brunch menu) We had a warm chorizo & fresh made Boursin cheese dip, their fried chickie sammie with jicama-Apple slaw, chickpea crust and adobo aioli on a multigrain bun and their Schofield burger featuring All-natural beef, tomato, onion, lettuce Amish sharp white cheddar cheese, bacon jam and cornichon aioli. Just because I needed more pictures, I ordered a chocolate sea salt tart with almond chocolate crust, pirate rum ganache, salted caramel and whipped creme and some Bett's crème brûlée which was a Tahitian vanilla bean custard & flame torched turbinado sugar served with fresh strawberries. There was not a miss on anything we ordered. I would highly recommend the chorizo dip and the crème brûlée. The chocolate tart was fantastic also with the salt, chocolate and caramel dazzling my taste buds. We had the pleasure of meeting Jason, the general manager and chef Rob. As we live in a weird Covid world, they have a robot named Shirley that takes your temperature when you walk in the door and each section is separated by plexiglass and the tables are sanitized for safety. This is the second time we have stayed at the Schofield and we just love it. Last time we came as a couple and this time we brought two of our teenagers with us. The best thing about the hotel is the customer service. Everyone is so nice! This time my husband and I both went to the hotel gym, which was clean and excellent. The only warning I would give is for the "city view" rooms. We had one and the woman at the desk warned that there would be some street noise. If you are a light sleeper, you probably don't want one of these rooms until the finish the road construction outside. Location is phenomenal - a quick walk to good restaurants and a great grocery store across the street. read more

We had an excellent 5 day stay at the Schofield. Our room was extremely clean, comfortable and spacious. I tend to be somewhat of a "bedding" snob and found the comfort and quality of the mattress, sheets, comforter and pillows to be excellent! I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff from the valets and cleaning crew to the front desk. The hotel was exceptional in every area. The Schofield's first seven floors have hotel rooms and suites, with the upper seven floors housing private apartments. We almost stayed at the Autograph across the street and it was quite evident that we made the right decision. The Autograph may be the "happening" place but the Kimpton Schofield is more refined and upscale. I really appreciate the history behind the Kimpton Schofield as well. It was designed by Levi Schofield, one of Cleveland's most important architects, who was also responsible for the much revered and respected Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument on Public Square. In the 1960s, the building was refaced to give it a more modern look, covering the ornamented terracotta architectural details with a steel facing. This renovation was scorned by both local and national architectural critics. The Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group oversaw a $50 Million project to restore the exterior of a Cleveland landmark to its original early-20th Century appearance. Definitely the place to stay in the City - and yes, because it is bustling metropolis, there will be city noise and sounds!! read more

(whistles) Faaaaancy fancy, Schofield! From the lovely architecture to the sweet suite, this Kimpton has a lot goin' on. The staff was quite friendly for the duration of my stay and I really appreciated all the modern touches throughout like... 1) Slick and thoughtful decor 2) HUGE shower in between two sinks - and when I say huge, I mean an enormous freestanding shower with open glass walls 3) Nice honor bar with plenty of great local snacks (not cheap, but that's nothing new) 4) Comfy bed with a great view of the TV 5) Super stable Wi-Fi 6) Excellent location with access to plenty of local businesses nearby I've stayed at my fair share of hotels in and around Cleveland and the Kimpton Schofield is top notch. read more

From the moment you arrive you and your pet are greeted by a staff that is warm and helpful! The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are large and cozy. They have plenty of amenities for your pet although green space to go potty is a bit limited. The bed and pillows were a bit soft for my taste but still slept very well. There's plenty of security built into this downtown hotel and I appreciated that the provided toiletries were in large bottles rather than single use disposable. As an added bonus the coffee in the morning was some of the best coffee at a hotel I've ever had. read more

It's a cute hotel in a great location. My room faced over the street but 5th floor is high enough that there was no street noise. Everything was clean, nice happy hour and cozy fireplace seating in lobby. The 2 reasons I can't give it 5 stars are the shower design and the room service. On the showers- for as much effort as was put into design here overall, whoever did the showers possibly has never taken an actual shower. There's a fixed glass panel that you can't move- to turn the shower on you have to step behind the panel and get blasted with water- the shower control is on the wrong side, behind the panel. This design flaw never got less annoying... I stayed 3 nights & every morning I was like, ugh! Soaked again! The other thing was room service. If you stay here, go to one of the many cute restaurants right in the area. Do not order room service! It is very lame. This hotel at its pricepoint should offer a room service experience- they do NOT. Instead, for the same price (18% service charge) they deliver food in a plastic takeout container in a bag with plastic utensils. Not even a plate. Those ordering room service tend to be travelers who spend plenty of time in airports/planes eating food from plastic containers as it is. That's not what I'm looking for in a full service hotel. Unless you're so exhausted you can't even move, go out to a restaurant instead. read more

I reserved a room here for a surprise trip to the Celtics and Cavs game this past week, for my husband. When we arrived at our hotel, the floor where we had reserved was sadly not available due to the heat being out. However, the manager immediately took care of our needs, gave us a full refund and then walked us across the street to the Metropolitan at the 9, and they paid for our whole stay. They were so nice and made sure we were taken care of. And while we're sad we didn't get to stay at their hotel, I still give it 5 stars. The atmosphere was so homey and cozy, yet upscale. Their lobby had a neat little fireplace, which was a nice touch, especially on a cold February day. We plan to stay there on our next trip to Cleveland to get the full experience. I do recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a friendly, cozy, yet very luxurious place to stay in downtown Cleveland. read more

I am a big fan of the Kimpton chain. Their Cleveland hotel was clean, well appointed and up to the usual Kimpton standards. They upgraded us to a two room suite with a nice view of downtown, and the staff was very attentive. As always, I appreciated how welcoming they were of our dog. My only complaint, and this is Kimpton-wide, is that the coffee at the morning coffee bar was terrible. We threw ours away and walked down the street to a local coffee shop and bought some there. That aside (and that is a relatively small detail), I recommend this spot. read more

I would like to share some feedback from our stay yesterday (room 209). I rarely write reviews, and usually only for the very impressive or - in this case - the worst of experiences. I'm sharing this because I booked a room here based on photos and reviews, and I found both of those to be WILDLY inaccurate. I called the morning of our stay to request confirmation, and ask for an early check-in (only 60-90 minutes before actual check-in time). Was told it may be possible, but nothing could be guaranteed. Also, was told we'd still have a city view room, but with 2 queen beds. Since it was just my husband and I going, that wasn't ideal... I requested a king bed, and was told that, again, nothing could be guaranteed. We delayed our arrival to avoid waiting for a room, and arrived to a room with a "city view", on the second floor - the only view was of the Metropolitan entrance, without "a view" at all, but with all of the trappings of being right at street level: noise (we could literally hear the conversations of people passing below our room), no privacy (we couldn't even have the drapes open), and traffic sounds. I wish it stopped there, but that was just the beginning. The room was incredibly small - notably smaller than both Kimpton locations I've stayed in, in Chicago. Upon entering the bathroom, I noticed a hairball in the shower drain, general uncleanliness, chipped paint, and an overall low-quality vibe. I applaud the hotel on their green policy of supplying refillable bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in lieu of the disposable, single-usage containers. However, halfway through my shower I realized that there wasn't enough body wash (in a very large and nearly empty bottle) for me, let alone 2 people, and the conditioner was actually empty. Granted, I could've gotten out and called down to the front desk, asked for them to fill the bottles, and get back in the shower, but that's a lot of steps to make in order to meet a pretty bare-minimum ask of a 4-star hotel. I have always chosen Kimpton locations on my travels, whether for business or pleasure, and they usually "wow". This was the first to disappoint, and I'd caution other travelers to go in with extremely low expectations, if booking at the Schofield. The photos portrayed a minimalist and Swiss-inspired design (as a designer, that aesthetic is right in my wheelhouse, which is the reason I chose this hotel over more "standard" chains). In reality, it was more akin to the IKEA catalogue vs. a trip to an IKEA store: worn-out, not very clean, and visibly trampled. As this was the last stop on a multi-location trip, we'd planned to relax in our room, get a movie, and order from Parker's, which delivers via room service. We decided the hotel wasn't up to our standards, and for the first time in all over our hundreds of hotel stays, considered checking out and booking elsewhere. Because that seemed like such an inconvenience and waste of money, we decided to venture out on the town... maybe the BEST idea ever, as we found Blue Point Grill. It is a must-visit for out-of-towners, and I would highly recommend visiting for the romantic ambiance and excellent food. But... unless you're looking for a hostel-like experience, take a hard pass on the Kimpton Schofield. read more

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The WiFi works well enough to VPN in on my work network and get stuff done. I have stayed in the most basic rooms to the huge ones - and they're all comfortable and well-appointed. The staff here even accommodated me on a night when my flight out of Cleveland was canceled and there was a Cavaliers playoff game. They held a room for me and followed up when they said they would. That's so rare, and it was the best. Not to mention the little things that make Kimpton properties great - wine happy hour, cute furnishings, etc. This one is in a good location (you can walk to the convention center, R&R HOF, etc.) for Cleveland business or pleasure. read more

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary, and we're already planning to stay there again next year. It's the perfect location downtown. You can walk pretty much anywhere, but also have 24/7 access to the car if you valet it. The only thing that was a bit of a let down was I requested the "Treat Yourself" add on through the website since it was our anniversary, but it never showed up. I'm still giving 5 stars, because I didn't follow up on it. If I did, I know they would have made it happen.. it just wasn't that important. :) We also really enjoyed the wine hour in the stunning lobby! read more

I love this chain and this branch does not disappoint. The location is great, the staff (esp. Stephanie) offer impeccable service, and the lobby is super cozy. We arrived just before the end of happy hour last night and the staff quickly served us up 2 glasses of wine. All of the employees make you feel at home and are so kind to our dogs. Beautiful hotel in great location! This is about a 5 min drive from the airport, within walking district from 4th street which is a fun street full of good restaurants, and outdoor seating. The beds are super comfortable and the decor is very modern, yet comfortable and very complimentary to Cleveland. What really makes this a hidden gem is the staff! Wonderful, hospitable people that make you feel right at home. Can I say thank you to Rian, the chief bell hop. He went above and beyond! Helping me with a key that didn't work, keeping my family posted of when are car was going to be brought from valet, even offering to throw some of the empty trash away that was in our car! The Schofield - Klimpton hotel in Cleveland is easily the most over priced and underwhelming hotel I have ever stayed in. A standard room with one king bed and one sitting chair was $283.20 plus tax came to $329.94 for ONE NIGHT. Valet parking only for $36.00 one night. More insulting, they put 22 oz. waters on your nightstand which can be had for just $6.00! They offer NO amenities - no breakfast (coffee or tea only) pool - no, sauna - no, Jacuzzi - no, workout area - no, spa - no. view - great view directly into a dilapidated office building and back alley. evening turn down with a mint or two - no. They did offer a complimentary wine hour (cheap wine) and kettle chips and dip. Wow. They also have bikes you can check out free. Wow. OH did I mention there is a Yoga mat in your room. WOW WOW. I have two positives, a good bed and a convenient location downtown. But, there are several other options that would be better values. I didn't choose this hotel, it was booked for me by someone else. Never again! read more

it was the perfect spot for a night getaway in our own city that included the pup! if given the option, i will always pick a Kimpton hotel. the cleveland kimpton did not disappoint. staff was friendly & helpful. room was chic. we loved the fire pit and the complementary wine hour from 5-6 never hurts. only downside was they advertise delivering Jeni's ice cream to your room which we tried to do but that night the freezer wasn't working, such a bummer. luckily it's right across from Heinens which DID have Jeni's :) i recommend staying at Kimpton when in cleveland! read more

I mean... could a hotel be any better than this? Immediately we were greeted by the hospitable staff, and were told that there was an issue with our room. So to remedy the issue, they gave us two rooms for our group. We couldn't believe it! They go above and beyond to fix a problem that we didn't even see as an inconvenience. Such a disappointment. I'm a huge Cleveland booster. I tell anyone who'll listen not to badmouth this city, because it's long been my impression that Clevelanders try harder. Here at the Kimpton Schofield, they ain't tryin' hard enough. I paid a whopping $780 for two nights, which included $50 a night for enhanced view. Can you see my photos? They gave us a "city view" -- which consisted of a second floor room directly overlooking a garbage can. Not kidding. When I asked for a view to go along with my "enhanced view" they moved us to the seventh floor. Hopefully you can see that photo because it was the exact same "view" that the Kramdens had in their apartment in Queens. About 20 feet of space between us and the apartment building right next to us. This is after the valet failed to show up to park the car. And then when we moved rooms the valet neglected to bring a cart -- the same cart that had been used to move us in 5 minutes earlier. On the plus side, the bed is comfy and the room is stylish, although quite tiny. This is such a disappointment and I'm surprised others here value having a drink with their stupid dog more than an excellent room. read more

We had a very quiet and comfortable sleep here. It's classy and not generic-looking or excessively sterile (as in, laden with heavy cleaning products). Security inside is tight, be sure to carry your key everywhere. The fitness center was clean and up-to-date, even if the tv remotes need new batteries. read more

Amazing! We are hotel "snobs" (just have high expectations for the price tags) and they knocked my 30th birthday weekend out of the park. Abby was a HUGE help in helping arrange dinner reservations as well as an in room massage (holy treat!). So much personality and made our stay great. The accommodations themselves are awesome and we loved our corner suite. What a view of Playhouse Square! And the soaking tub.... oh, the soaking tub. Thank you for such an incredible experience. The hubbs and I stayed here while in town for a concert. I found this location through travelocity and made my reservation through that site. I'm always worried about my reservation being 'lost' when booking through a 3rd party site, and was very happy when we arrived and our reservation was in the system. One thing I will say is that I was dissaointed about their cancellation policy. We had an illness in the family and were considering canceling our reservation to stay home. We were told that we would not receive a refund of any kind if we canceled our reservation per policy. We would have to ask travelocity for a refund through the travel insurance we bought with them. Who wants to go through all that? If that policy stands regardless of booking online or calling and booking, I doubt very much I would stay here again. Other than that, everything was great. Clean, updated, in house bar, friendly staff, clean bathrooms, all around very nice location. Just ask about that policy, or maybe call and not book through travelocity. read more

Hip, stylish, perfectly clean and comfortable hotel with excellent front desk staff, super comfortable bedding (pillows were too hard for me but they brought me a feather pillow right away), blackout curtains, spacious bathrooms, comfy robes, efficient workout center and great food/drinks in lobby restaurant/bar; The Parker. The location is superb: walking distance to everything in downtown Cleveland. I loved it so I extended my stay by 3 nights. I think free Wi-Fi would be a bonus but with the reasonable room rate, I was happy to pay the $14 per day fee. Highly recommend this hotel. read more

I want more than anything to give this hotel a good rating because I want to see Cleveland thrive, but my husband and I had a terrible experience here. We did not sleep at all. There is not enough sound insulation in the rooms. We heard EVERY noise from the street below, especially the drunks coming out of the club across the street. They were all screaming and yelling from 10pm until 3am , which is when we packed up and left the hotel. $170 right down the drain. The manager would not compensate us with a discount on a room at another Kimpton hotel. The Kimpton Schofield hotel is nicely styled but DO NOT stay here if you want to get some sleep. read more

Generally, we've enjoyed our stays at Kimpton, however not at the Schofield in Cleveland. The lobby is small and crowded and the woman at the front desk was pretty miserable. There was no AC on a weekend with temps in the low 90s. Everything felt outdated an old. Definitely not worth the price given other options in Cleveland. read more

SUMMARY: Awesome staff, cute rooms, good downtown location. Maybe 4.5 stars... FULL STORY: Had my parents stay here for a couple days while they visited. Everyone we worked with from the hotel (from booking the reservation, to making adjustments, to front desk...) were VERY helpful and easy to talk to. Nothing stuffy at all. They definitely accommodated our couple of requests. Location is great if you have visitors who want to walk around on their own a little. Very close to the 5th street arcades to check out local shops... also riiiight across from the downtown Heinen's -- convenience can't be overstated -- for a snack, flowers, water bottles, etc. Close to House of Blues, a few restaurants, etc... The room decor was modern and quirky but nice, nothing too weird (also nothing stale or old-fashioned). It seemed pretty clean. I think this is a better option than the 9 hotel/apts down the street - that place just seems like it's trying too hard to be cool. The Parker bar/restaurant downstairs (which I never realized was a restaurant before this stay) was pretty decent. Nice to have there especially if the weather is bad and you want to hang out for a drink. Down-sides are that parking is basically street (with time limits) or valet (pretty pricey and takes longer to get your car). And there can definitely be some noise downtown on the weekends -- could try getting a room higher up and away from the street, but it's hard to say how noisy it would be. Note: No computer stations or printers... but they have wifi and can print something for you if needed (e.g, boarding pass). read more
