I took a brand new uniform in for alterations and was really disappointed with the results. When I got it back, both my long sleeve and short sleeve shirts were missing the second button, which is a pretty basic detail that shouldn't be overlooked. On top of that, neither shirt looked properly pressed or finished, it honestly didn't look like any care was taken to present the uniform professionally. For something as important and expensive as a uniform, I expected much better attention to detail and quality control. I wouldn't trust this place again without thoroughly checking everything before leaving. read more

This is the second time I've had my uniform messed up here. They're always willing to fix their mistakes and I will give them that. However, this year I am a San Antonio Army Fiesta Ambassador and they MESSED up this alteration. I have to get interviewed by KSAT, pictures taken, and talk to the citizens of San Antonio with this. My other top is out for cleaning. This is embarrassing and unacceptable. I will not be going back here anymore. read more

I went early morning and they would not have a seamstress until after 2:30pm. I was on a time restraint and just worked a night shift so I wanted this done ASAP. By far the worst military sew shop I've ever dealt with. I had to verify my order three separate times after my initial visit, and when I finally showed up, it was still wrong and had to be corrected on the spot. Even after the "correction," I double-checked before leaving--good thing I did, because my order was still wrong. On top of that, the shop offers very little convenience compared to others I've used. Always doing a great job with my dry cleaning. However, I brought in the pins I needed put on my uniform and told the guy a few days in advance. He asked for one day to get it all done. I went to pick it up at 5 pm the next day and I know he forgot about it. He asked me to come back in 30 minutes. I came back almost an hour later and he had me put it on and said it looked great. The next day at inspection, everything was completely wrong to the point that it was embarrassing. Some of the pins weren't even close. I thought so highly of him since he told me I didn't have to pay for that service, but now I know it's because he eyeballed it. It took hours to redo everything at the inspection. I still recommend coming here because the dry cleaning is always immaculate, the price is really great, and the turnaround time is fast. This place sewed my patch out of regulation which was an issue as I had to go to a school like and wear it for my graduation. I had no additional time to fix it. On a separate occasion, they delayed the delivery of service but did not call to inform me of any issues and I came from out of town to pick up my uniforms, which put me out 8 hours and gas. Felt like the goal post was moved twice. Idk maybe it's because I'm not from the military or something. Not to mention they don't answer the telephone. We Agreed on $30 for zipper replacements service went to my car came back the price then jumped to $35 go to pick the jacket up then they add on a phantom tax. But this phantom tax wasn't written on the receipt. So I then ask for it to be paid on a card instead then the owner I'm assuming felt the need to inform me that even H-E-B charges tax. Thanks for the intel. -_- To top it off it Looked like they just had it sitting back there no plastic sleeve. In all seriousness when has a zipper replacement cost $38??? I have been coming to Kim's since 2014. They have always been able to make alterations in a reasonable amount of time for a reasonable cost.

My first visit going here! I had a dress and pants that needed zippers replaced the dress was completed. When I tried on the pants when I got home, my pants still didn't want to zip up as the issue was the first time I needed the zipper replaced due to this problem. I also noticed that the zippers still look the same. I didn't care to look when I picked up my clothing due to trusting the staff that they replaced my zippers. I paid over $80 dollars for 9 pieces of clothing to get pressed and the replacement of zippers was crazy expensive. I don't recommend going back to this place ever again. To top is off. I waited for extended amount of time because they couldn't find my clothes. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I took my uniforms here to get them dry cleaned & to get my caduceus sewn on for graduation from Hospital Corpsman Basic School. I'm a fleet returnee with almost 14 years in the Navy & have never had any issues with any establishment when it came to dry cleaning or sewing something on a uniform. The staff at Kims took my previous rating badges off & sewed the caduceus rating badges on both my dress whites & dress blues. When I went to pick them up they handed me my uniforms without giving me back my original rating badges. This has never happened to me. I have always gotten whatever was taken off given back to me when making changes to rating badges, ranking up, service stripes, etc. I had to ask for my rating badges back & they argued with me about how they don't give them back. They were only able to find the rating badge & service stripes from my dress blues but not my whites. So, I asked the older male staff member if he was going to pay me for the patch that he took & did not return to me. He said, "We try to cater to the Navy as best we can." He reluctantly gave me the money for my rating badge. When I got my uniform ready for graduation I noticed a snag in my whites. So, they don't return your items you come in with that you replace, they snag your uniform, & they charge twice as much as the PX. No thank you. I'm glad I'm not stationed here, because I would never go back to Kims. Beware of this place. read more

Just wanted a button modification made to a uniform piece. The excuse was that they didn't have a $12,000 button hole machine. Its literally cutting and sewing four buttons in! Very dismissive, and unwilling to help with something that wasn't totally convenient for them to do. Frustrated by the fact that most my pants are about 6 inches to long and foiled (yet again) by my sewing machine, I decided to find a good tailor. Kim's Alterations and Dry Cleaning was along my route to work, so I decided to give it a try. I was a bit surprised when I walked in. For being along a pretty bland strip mall, Kim's had a calm, Asian feel. There was some pretty music playing, plenty of plants, and some fun Asian trinkets sitting about. I told the person who I assumed was Kim (there was one other employee in the back sewing) how many inches I wanted off. She offered to measure me, which could be an option for other people. My alteration cost just under $11 and my pants were ready in a few days. She simply gave me a ticket to bring back when they were done, much like a normal dry cleaners. I didn't look at their dry cleaning prices, but their alterations seemed reasonable enough. Kim's is set back off the road where Fredericksburg and Wurzbach meet, and could easily be overlooked. It is right next to the India Palace and grocery mart. Getting in and out of the parking lot can be a bit of a challenge, but I managed it with some bravery and a heavy foot. When I got back the pants, they were professionally done--much better than I could ever have managed--and I was quite satisfied. I will probably go there again. read more

This place was recommended to me by fellow military buddies. I have taken my uniforms there for simple dry cleanings and everything was great until you gain rank. I took my stuff in to get new ranks sewn on and by the time I came to pick it up, they didn't even use the ones I provided. They tried to pass off a raggity looking rank on my PC and they lost a shirt for my dress uniform. Thankfully they fixed the crappy pc rank on the spot but it turned out to be a way more expensive visit because they didn't tag my stuff. I couldn't prove they lost it because their receipts are very vague. If you decide to go here, write down everything you give them when you give it to them and look over all stitch jobs. read more
