After having been a loyal customer of Gity's Salon in Sugarland for 20+ years I realized my family move to Tomball TX (2015) precluded me from traveling to Gity's just due to the distance and time involved. Yesterday was my first time in, I didn't know what to expect. I recently moved to Tomball from Katy and have had the same hairdresser for 15 years!!! I have been thinking of finding someone closer and not knowing anyone here I looked at yelp, actually to cut my Grandson's hair (my hairdresser did his too). Unfortunately, the last time I went to this place, I got the owner as my stylist. First, she fussed at me for putting my purse on the floor. I would say, if this bothers you so much, provide an obvious place for your customers to use for their belongings. A small table that is completely clear of clutter would naturally invite folks to place their personal items there during the hair washing process. The same goes for the area by the hair cutting station. Next, she was training someone to cut hair and that person stood so close to me during the cut that it was uncomfortable. I understand that the owner is probably making extra money training new stylists but don't forget that the person sitting in the chair is a paying customer. Respect personal space and engage with the customer... Not the trainee. After an initial good first impression here.... I will not be returning. read more

I was in Tomball for a wedding, and wanted to get my hair done. I made an appointment with Kim on a Saturday morning who agreed to see me that day. I let her know that I might be a little late because I wanted to get my nails done, she said that was fine. I walk in about 10 minutes late, at the same time as a man and his family. The man stands in front of me, as Kim comes to the front of the shop, makes eye contact with me and asked, "Are you Valentina?". I told her, "Yep, that's me!". She asked the man who was in front of me how many hair cuts, he replied three (one for him and each of his two kids). Kim looked at me and told me I would have to wait. Kind of not cool, Kim. I had an appointment - and should have been taken before the walk in. I brushed it off, attributing it to the fact that I was late, even though it was only a few minutes and had let Kim know. Whatever, I occupied myself with browsing pictures of the hair I wanted, getting myself excited. Finally, it was my turn! When I got in the chair, Kim started trimming my hair never bothering to ask me what I wanted. I stopped her and she started immediately started saying"Yes yes, you want something classic, caramel highlights, don't worry". Woah woah woah, slow down lady! At least listen to what I want. I told her l wanted an angled bob with ombre low lights, a pretty simple look. She replied, "Ombre? Why you want that? Classic is better." She kept on telling tell me that she thought a classic look would be better than the trendy thing I asked for, and that the low lights would be too high maintenance of a look for me. I assumed it was because she saw the long roots of my current neglected dye job. Embarrassed, I gave in. Okay Kim, give me the classic look. I have dark brown (almost black) hair and olive toned skin. When Kim told me she was giving me caramel highlights, I assumed the highlights would blend in nicely with my natural hair color. Oh boy, was I wrong. When she took the foil off, I was horrified. I had a bunch of thin BRIGHT BLONDE streaks going through my hair. On top of that, I now had a short bob, which was OK, but with the thin streaks it was just ridiculous. She asked what I thought, to which I replied honestly and said it was way too light. Instead of apologizing, she told me wished it came out even lighter, because it was summer, and I was "too dark". Kim herself is an Asian woman with natural black hair dyed bright blonde, which may look good on her, but was way wrong for me. Seeing that I looked upset, she called her young teenage daughter over and said, "Look at her hair! Doesn't it look good??". The daughter gave us a weird look and walked away. I was mortified. As Kim dried my hair, she gave me a bunch of weird compliments. Some of these compliments included: "You look sexy!" (Uhh, sure. If looking like a 2001 soccer mom trying to be hip is your thing.) "You look like Lady Gaga!" (What?! Also, I don't really think Lady Gaga would appreciate this.) "You look younger!" (Ugh, I'm 24. This is definitely not something I want to hear.) "It looks better than when you walked in!" (This is probably true, but I came in with it messy, and it was unwashed because its better for the dye. Hardly my go-to look!) I laughed uncomfortably after each of the said compliments, looking at her in the mirror with sad eyes that pleaded, "Please just let me go home so I can try to fix this." I will mention that Kim at least offered to fix it, but she told me to wait few days to see what people thought of it. I got back to my hotel room to show my boyfriend, who told me didn't really look right. After consulting a couple of my girlfriends who shared my feelings, I hurriedly died my hair black with box dye before the wedding to conceal the disaster. Believe it or not, it actually looked a lot better afterwards. I was leaving Tomball the next day, but I'm not really sure I would have trusted Kim to fix it regardless. After reading other reviews, I see I'm not the only one Kim has persuaded into changing their original plan. I'm sure she means well, but she should probably give the customer more say. It is their hair, after all. Be ready for this if you decide to come here, and make sure you look good as a blonde :D :D! read more

Kim's Ineptitude is Astounding! Unprofessional in every sense, from attitude to cleanliness to skill. I am devastated by the cut I received from Kim. I asked for a bob, showed her a picture & she gave me what resembles a botched 1960 Beatles hair cut. There is no fixing it cause of how much length she took off & the second she knew I was unhappy she became argumentative. Telling me I was wrong. I can't even pull the sides of my hair back cause of how short she cut it. I was involuntarily crying before I even left the salon. When I got to the car I just broke down because of what my hair looks like now thanks to Kim's ineptitude. Yes, I know it's only hair. Yes it will grow back but in the mean time I'm stuck with the most outrageous hair cut of my life. I couldn't be paid to ever go back there. Kim has no business being in customer service. read more

I went in for a quick trim. The stylist seemed upset and angry with me. Seemed to make a point of brushing out my long and very tangled hair with a fine tooth comb. Pretty painful. When it came to cutting and styling my bangs, the stylist and I disagreed on how they should be cut. I like the way my bangs are, I just wanted them trimmed. The stylist told me my bangs were wrong and messed up. Regardless, if they were. I really like how I had them and wanted to keep them that way. She changed them anyway and I hate them. So all in all it was a frustrating and confusing visit. I will not be going there again. read more
