I booked an appointment well in advance for my mother to get her hair colored and styled for a special occasion. We were both really looking forward to it, hoping for a bit of pampering and a confidence boost. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that things were not going to go smoothly. The salon was chaotic, with stylists rushing around and clients crammed into every available space. Despite having a scheduled appointment, we were left waiting for an unacceptable amount of time. Then came the real insult. After nearly an hour of waiting, we were informed that, due to some "unforeseen circumstances" (which sounded suspiciously like overbooking), they would not be able to color and style my mother's hair after all. Let me repeat that: they couldn't do the service we had booked and waited for. No apologies, no attempt to reschedule, and certainly no offer of compensation for our wasted time and ruined plans. My mother was incredibly upset, and frankly, so was I. Uptown Salon's complete disregard for their clients' time and appointments is appalling. On top of that, my hair is extremely damaged even a month after and I have so much breakage at the top of my head, pieces of hair that are like to my eyes because it broke off so much. When I talked to the owner, she was very unprofessional and couldn't put her ego down to take accountability and admit that her worker messed up and instead tried to stand there and tell me I had highlights and received exactly what I asked for. I don't recommend this place at all. If they would have taken accountability for their mistake I wouldn't have been as upset but they completely played in my hair. They also charged me for color root when my roots were still dark and the exact same color as when I walked into their salon. My issue is that the final result did not reflect what was discussed. I also disagree with the statement that the expected results, process, and pricing were thoroughly discussed. I was initially quoted approximately $270, yet my final bill was $460. At no point was I given a clear breakdown explaining why the price increased by nearly $200.
