I only give 1 star ratings when I believe a business should close. I have never done it, but unfortunately Kim's will be the first. I used to live in calumet city when Kim's first opened years ago. Sadly the quality is no longer their. I have been their twice in the last 2 weeks. I get my haircut at Lord Hands Barber Shop on Sibley down the street. Last week after my cut I figured I would come in for a mani pedi since I was down the street. when I came in it was only 3 techs working and they were busy. This struck me as odd because Kim's is a big shop with lots of space for techs so....? But anyway I was told to sit and I waited bout 20mins. After that I said forget it because I am impatient and I would come back. I went back yesterday because I intended to get a haircut after my mani pedi....WHY DID I DO THAT YELP!? When i came in it was 4 techs, and 2 where free, but I was still told to sit? Why? So I sat and watched the two guys play with their phones for like 45 mins before one of them decided to seat me in a pedi chair until Anne was ready. which took another 15-20 mins. Which was ok, because I had time to work on this review. But anywhoo.... The mani pedi itself was actually decent. Anne has always done good work so no complaint their. But it took another 1.5 hours. So in total i was their about 3 hours on a wed for no foreseeable reason. I did not have time for my haircut which was a bummer because I drive all the way from McCormick Place . Sorry Kim's, not acceptable. Especially when my total for a mani pedi was 36 dollars. Also, 5 dollars for a buff?! I declined, went to the beauty supply, and got my own buffer for 2 dollars. 5/4/2022- me and my mom pulled up and she said "they don't be busy like they used to be" and my reply was "bcuz their customer service is horrible!" Now I've been coming to Kim's since she branched out on her own from her ex husband. She had a shop down the street and these ppl weren't with her! Kim moved to Florida and left these rude a*s ppl with her shop and they running it to the ground and giving her a bad name! Her niece even left and got her own shop Solor Nail and took Crystal and Van with her but Crystal eventually left and moved with Kim! These ppl at Kim nail acts as though they doing the customers a free favor and talk crazy and treat customers like they aren't supposed to speak up and take up for themselves! Alex(1st chair) wife had her twin there but she gone too! All I wanted was a polish change on my toes and the lady was looking everywhere but my toe and she knicked my toe next to the one she was clipping the nail. I jumped out of that chair so fast and went to sit down until someone else was ready to take me. $12 and that short man did not leave my side while I was drying my toes and talking to my mom bcuz I was gonna pay for her nails too! He kept jumping in my conversation saying $12! I almost cussed his a*s out! If this establishment was up north, oak lawn or Beverly with these workers, they would have been gotten these ppl out of their neighborhood with this disrespect and mistreatment! We see all these videos of ppl fighting them but more than half the time the workers provoke it bcuz we the customers take up for ourselves and our money. My usual lash person was on vacation went here to get my lashes done. The individuals which came out to be more than what I pay at my regular spot looked nice however they only lasted for 4 days. My lashes always last for weeks when I've gotten them done so for me to not only pay more but only get 4 days out of them is very upsetting. Won't be back. read more

I was immediately serviced not only was I sat in a timely manner but the entire service I felt rushed. She even began working on someone else in the middle of my acrylic fill-in. She was very rough with me and I couldn't understand her at all. On top of that they charge an additional $1 for credit card payment. DONT EVER GO HERE! THEIR ENTIRE SALON IS DISGUSTING!!!! They talk and treat you like crap! I am a very successful young lady who prides herself in customer service! Now let's talk about their skills. Most of the nail techs do not know how to polish, or lay acrylic correctly and they also do not know how to handle drill I was cut numerous times and he tried to blame saying I was moving . I went to get my nails done (my nails are always done btw so I know nails). The nail polish chipped not even hours after I left! Before I left I told them hey I am not satisfied with my nails but since you all are about to close I will come back tomorrow. TERRIBLE MISTAKE! I came back the next day also realizing my acrylic was lumpy (like you can literally see lumps in it) the man tried to just take the polish off and redo that. I told him no I need my entire set redone period or I can take a refund. He proceeds to yell at me! In front of the entire salon! And disrespect me. I then told him now you will definitely not be servicing me. It was insane the way he treated me. He didn't even process my refund they were rude, nasty and most of all unskilled. They are terrible. I just went to get a full set there were about four nail techs just sitting around doing nothing. I asked what's the hold up and why no one is working, I didn't get a response. The staff here comes off as very rude and seem to not care whether or not they get your service. I called before coming in to be sure they would have enough time to complete what I was asking. It was 6pm and I was told to come on in and that they didn't close til 730 so they had time. When I walked in there was a lady standing at the counter taking someone's payment so I patiently waited behind her and when she was done with the client she just walked off like I wasn't standing there and went back to her station. I stood there a minute, and not one person in there acknowledged that I was waiting. There were two gentlemen sitting at the front tables with clients and both of them just ignored me. So I sat down, and EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER that came in after me that they knew was acknowledged, greeted and given directions. Eventually, I made eye contact with one of the other nails techs and said "excuse me, I have a question" she sternly shook her head No as I walked over anyway stating, "well you're the only one that has bothered to look this way in the last 15 minutes I've been sitting here. So I'm asking you." I showed her a pictures of what I would like and asked if they could do it and she said yes. Pointing She also told me to speak with one of the gentlemen at the front since they are in charge. So I walked over and said excuse me to him, and told him what I was looking to get. He looked VERY annoyed and before I could even finish he told me to go have a seat and just wait. I apologized to the client he was with because I didn't want to be rude but he was obviously going to continue to ignore me if I hadn't so i just left. Slow service my friend and I were there for an hour waiting for me to get a pedicure and her a manicure...

This nail salon had good reviews and I was looking for a place to get a no chip mani and possibly a pedi. Upon entering this establishment, I was greeted by a man who asked "what you want" this did not bother me because I took it as his English was poor and he lacked common courtesy. I told him and made a simple request that whoever did my pedi to use a file on my toenails because I am prone to getting ingrown toe nails. His reply was "no you don't get pedicure here", very nasty. I did however get my no chip by Tammy, who did a good job and was nice. But I will never go back because of this ignorant man who obviously does not know the meaning of customer service. I am not sure if he really understood what I was asking, which is not a uncommon request if one has actually had professional training in nail care whether it is hands or feet. The place was dark, looked dated and uninviting. I also did not see where instruments used were being sanitized and placed in a autoclave. After the nippers was used on my cuticles Tammy covered the tip and placed them back in her station drawer, I am sure for the next client. I am giving 1 star trying to be fair as possible and only because I like my nails but I don't want to get any type of fungus or infection, from her using a dirty cuticle nipper. This nail shop does horrible work and is rude. When the lady did my nails the nail felt loose. She said it's fine. Two days later....not even an entire 48 hours. I'm digging in my purse and the entire nail comes off... I went back to show them and the young lady at the desk was very RUDE! She immediately said three dollars. Although I had the receipt in hand. I agreed because I picked a very new OPI polish. She was rolling her eyes and snatching my fingers. She then told me to go get polish (verbatim) I looked through all of their racks. She would not assist. She folded her arms up while I was searching. Then stopped to arch someone eyebrows in which I had to wait again. A gentleman then proceeded to help me. His exact words was "you pay right now". I asked him since I couldn't find the exact polish if I could just use a gold. He said no....very loud and very rude. Do NOT get your nails done here especially by the old guy. My feet do not look like I received a pedicure. My no chip manicure looks like a two year old did it. The old guy tried to argue with me when I asked for my nails to be filed evenly and not on a slant. He cut way too much skin off the sides of my nails. They look horrible; like someone was chewing on my naiks. The chick that is in charge did not intervene during the argument. When I showed her my nails she looked as if nothing was wrong.
