I am not from the area. I did a search and Kim's nails as close the where I was staying. I asked how much for a fill with gel polish and the gentleman I was talking to asked me to hold to ask. 5 minutes later he announced $40 if your nails are short or medium. My nails are short barely past my finger. I arrived for my appt 10 minutes early and she started me in time. For 45 of the 60 minutes she spoke on her phone in Vietnamese. Not one word to me like would you like your nails trimmed, what shape would you like didn't even give me polish to choose from. I found this extremely rude. When she finished my nails looked fine I would have liked them cut down a bit.i had my wallet opened and realized I'd like to charge instead and since she was staring in my wallet she told me cash would be better. She gave me my change and I said wait you owe me $5 she said no $45. I told her I called before I came. Pretty much she just shrugged it off. They just opened or reopened. Linda, who was doing my pedi, said it had been a hair salon only. This was my first time down this way. I got the dry skin pedi and signature mani (with Tao). They have gel, but I just got regular polish. I mostly came for the whole mani/pedi experience because my skin is super dry. I should have taken before pics, it was that bad. They did scrubs, a hot wax treatment, hot stone massage on my legs, in addition to the regular stuff. My cuticles feel so much better, too! They're super nice and it was lovely & relaxing. My other friend came out with a decent haircut with 1/2 on his side with a comb over. If you want an okay haircut, get that. There's no way someone can mess up 1/2 on the side with a comb over. I got and amazing cut while visiting SC. I made an appointment and came in with my 9 year old daughter. I was shaggy due to the Coronavirus, so it felt nice to get 5 months of hair removed. My cut was done outside and with my mask on the whole time. I always felt safe. I got a perfect fade. My daughter, who has thick and often tangled hair really just wanted to come for fun and a simple trim. She ended up with layers that have earned her many compliments. I just texted Laura Gonzalez (formerly of 'Up to U Hair'), at about 9:00am on a Friday and she fit me in at 3:15 that afternoon. I had been to her a year before I moved for work. As I only wanted a trim ' she asked if I wanted it washed or wetted down. I use plum and garnet coloring in my hair, therefore- really try to keep washing to a minimum. I agreed to a " dry cut," with spray bottle. In reality, I kinda love it. It means a quicker appointment, lower over all cost & more accurate lengths. Listen - I've been to many salons & love a luxurious head massage as much as the next gal- but sometimes, for just a quick trim- almost dry really works!! I told her I wanted to keep it all one length, and was growing it out a little, then would do layers. I respect that she cut ( exactly) the amount I wanted. I was in and out in about 40 min tops - $25.00. I think last time I went and got a lot of layers, the cost was still under $40.00 This is a walk in salon and they give discounts to students and I think 10% off your 1st appointment. Men's cuts are $20.00. Fair size parking lot, they are located across from my alma mater - Bay View Elementary! Sent me out and said my nails were good to go and dry. By the time I got home they were smudged. The next day, about half my nail polish was chipped. As a student from the local university, I was worried about finding a new barber in the area when I first came here. I did some asking around for a place that was relatively cheap and well in reviews. I eventually was pointed to Kim's Salon from multiple peers and I decided to go down to check it out. While appearances of the store don't seem too impressive I was overall very satisfied with the staff in Kim's Salon. For $13 (Student Cost) I got the best haircut that price can get you. The staff are friendly and know what they're doing. Don't be afraid of letting them know if you want to change something during your cut. My only additional comment is that if you plan on going, although they take walk-ins, you should call ahead of time to at least let them know that you're arriving. TL;DR: No complaints here. Didn't want to be out too long b/c of COVID so I decided to try this place out since the reviews all said it was a quick and great haircut. The barber was really, really nice and super quick and my hair looked good while there (I didn't have my glasses on) so I ended up tipping really well. Went back home and realized that my hair is uneven everywhere, the undercut that I had before wasn't fully shaved and it just looks really bad and choppy. It really sucks because I genuinely loved the incredibly friendly atmosphere but my hair just looks really bad. I probably am just going to shave the rest of my hair off even though I've spent the past few months and a lot of money bleaching and dying it myself. read more

I dropped of my 93 yr. old mom here for a manicure and haircut. The lady talked her into a pedicure as well. The mani/pedi was mediocre, but the haircut was a disaster. When I showed up to pick her up, the guy who had cut her hair was having a hard time brushing it and when I asked him about that, he said she had glue in her hair, well, it wasn't glue, it was hairspray that had built up for a week. I said, "didn't you wash her hair before cutting it?" He replied, "you only said you wanted a haircut". Ok...I have never heard of any stylist cutting someone's hair without first washing it. I told him he needed to wash her hair and blow dry it. When he was finished, he told me it would be an additional $15 for washing her hair! Not wanting to argue with him, I paid the additional amount and left there vowing never to return. I inspected my mom's haircut when we arrived home and it was poorly done. I kind of walked in on a whim about 40 minutes before they closed. I was taken immediately and had Lee cut my hair. He asked me what I wanted and I told him anything with layers. He cut it quick and precise Andy liked the end result. The reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars was because my hair wasn't layered as much as I would've liked and I felt rushed, but overall, I still enjoyed the result and I would definitely go again! read more

Went to Tony, i appreciated that he turned people away instead of rushing through me, he was friendly and attentive to my needs, my hair was pretty dead so not suprised that it ended up shorter than initially expected. I dont think he is as used to cutting womens hair, and i had asked for full service shampoo conditioner treatment and blow out, but he only did a dry cut and then shampoo and loghtly blow dried.... paid $30 including a tip. Nice guy, dirty shop, i am used to salons keeping their brushes and combs sanitized and this was not the case here. The guy that cut my hair was nice but didn't really listen to what I asked for. I asked for very small adjustment and to not cut too much. But oh no! it looks like my hair got lawn mowed.
