I initially reached out about reserving a table for 40+ people during a basketball tournament weekend and was told the manager would contact me back. Sure enough, she called promptly to confirm everything for our Saturday dinner reservation. The entire process was seamless and incredibly easy, especially considering this was a larger-than-normal party. Taizy handled everything professionally. She seamlessly added the extra guests without hesitation. Her only request was that we send over everyone's food orders ahead of time so the kitchen could prepare and ensure nobody had to wait too long. And wow -- they absolutely delivered. Every single order came out accurately and in a very timely fashion. No mistakes, no confusion, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. The servers were organized, attentive, and handled a very large group with ease. Service was truly 10/10. One of the reasons I chose Kin Sushi for a large group dinner was because the menu truly has something for everyone -- udon, sushi rolls, vegetarian rolls, bento boxes, chirashi, sashimi, and something for everyone. They even had Thai iced tea, which isn't normally something in you have in a Japanese restaurant. Parking was very easy, which is always appreciated when coordinating a large party, and there's a restroom conveniently located in the back. Sorry to say that Kin Sushi did not work out for us when we visited for the first time based on a number of positive Yelp reviews. Our server was very attentive and accommodating at the beginning, but when we brought to her attention that the salad which was served with the meal was wilted and rotten, she absolutely did nothing but will let the kitchen staff know. In addition, the rice was probably a day old and clumpy that none of us could finish it. Bento protein portions are small especially for the salmon. Came here for their mid-week happy hour (2:00-5:30!). Spicy tuna hand roll, mango roll, OMG roll (just okay..), but their yellowtail roll with salmon and avocado was my favorite (not on the happy hour menu). Kin Sushi is located in a medium-sized shopping plaza off of Alicia Pkwy & Paseo de Valencia, with free parking available in the shared lot. Upon arrival, I was surprised to find how large the restaurant was inside. I ordered the Dinner Bento Box to go for $18. You can select 2 main entree items out of approx 14 items such as salmon teriyaki, tempura, chicken cutlet, gyoza, various sushi rolls, etc. I selected the chicken teriyaki and Philadelphia roll. It also came with rice, miso & salad. The bento itself was just average. The chicken was dry. They included the teriyaki sauce on the side, which I appreciated. The Philadelphia roll was very tasty. The miso soup was good but the salad lacked dressing. If there were any dressing on it, it was very little. I probably wouldn't return since I thought the food was just average and there are better bentos in the area. read more

Like in the matter of less than 10-15 minutes at most. The ingredients are fresh and nothing tastes fishy. Their avocados are always perfectly ripe without blemishes or unripened hardness. The other items I like from them are the spring rolls. Extremely crunchy and sharp shards abound because of the crispiness. I love it! So much so I have no pictures of them because down the hatch it went. So if you live in the South OC area, I hope you give them a try. The rice in the different sushi rolls were even worse. it was way too mushy. When rice is too watery bacteria grows faster so not too happy with their rice. Rice was not sushi rice also, just plain. Sushi rice should have a slight vinegar flavor. The restraint used to be a 4/5 rating... it's going downhill. Think they changed chefs. My wife and I came to Kin sushi for lunch and was greeted by Taizy she was so freaking cool, we talked through our lunch about a bunch of different topics. While talking with Taizy we introduced to Lucky our sushi chef who was just the best. Lucky made amazing fresh sushi none of that sh*t ayce sushi. Lucky even hooked my wife up with extra special sushi . We showed up 45 minutes after we placed the order but ended up waiting in the car for some time. It's totally understandable and it must've been busy, but we could've easily gotten a later time to arrive instead. We took the sushi home and felt the rolls were just... average. We got mackerel nigiri which was the highlight of the experience. However, for some reason the ginger smelled terribly like chemicals!! My husband normally loooves to eat the ginger by itself but we had to toss it immediately since we couldn't stand the smell while we were eating. It ended up making our trash can smell so we took the trash out and gave our trash bin a good spray. If anything, I'd only go back for the nigiri to see if that's better. Ordered a sushi where the description didn't say it had anything spicy in it. I got the sushi and it was spicy. I asked them if they put anything spicy in it and said yes. The waitresses asked if I wanted them to remake it and I said yes but then she gave me a look as she didn't want to. So then I said no. The other sushi I had ordered arrived and it was loaded with wasabi in the mix but no where in the description said it had wasabi. The waitress was already being rude. This place was not your typical authentic Japanese sushi place. The food was horrible. Why does every sushi need to be spicy? There is a reason why they give you wasabi on the side. We come to the shopping center often to get boba tea from ChaPlus but had never been to this restaurant. I've been to Kin Sushi twice now and I really enjoyed it. The service is friendly and efficient. I asked if they offered Omakase and after checking with the chef they said yes and provided me with a price. They have Omanake choices of different sizes and I selected the 12 piece. Every bite was fresh and tasty. I especially enjoyed the Hokkaido scallop with truffle. My only complaint is that the play cable news on their TV. It's a bummer to watch that while you're eating.
