The food here is inconsistent sometime good sometimes it's less than average. Today the service was terrible. We walked in to order food to go. We waited for 10 minute for some none to take our order. We sat down to wait for our order and were asked to get up from our seats to let other customers take our seat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked why if we had already paid and we are waiting for our food--this place is tight with no where to stand.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was a booth open aside from where we were sitting. Then the host had the nerve to raise her voice at me and talked about me to the chef in Korean. She thought I wouldn't understand. The restaurant wasn't busy and it took from 12:55 to 1:21 pm to get our food. Don't order takeout from here. And if you call ahead still be prepared to wait 30 minutes for them to make your food while you wait and don't sit at the tables they will kick you out like you're not a costumer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is chronic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Samurai Sushi was our destination for dinner and it did not disappoint! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, with very attentive waiters.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the vegetable tempura, salmon sashimi, Alaska roll, and La Paz roll - sugoi! The tempura was crisp and hot. The sashimi was a generous portion and flavorful. the Alaska roll had scallop and roe i side, salmon outside, very nice! The star of the show was the La Paz roll, so many wonderful flavors and textures, that blended nicely, will order this one again for sure. We'll be back to explore more of the menu. Enjoy!

A regular date spot for my girlfriend and I. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The buy one get one half off special pulls in a lot of people every weeknight, so there is a great community environment here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff is excellent and everyone is always welcoming and friendly. This visit we got the Mexican roll, special #7, super rainbow roll, and crazy bites. Fish was fresh and delicious as always, and we always appreciate the variety we are able to get. I usually like to get something crunchy, something baked, and a special roll to switch things up from bite to bite. Will definitely be back soon!

Woo hoo! I chose Samurai Sushi in Mission Viejo to be my #500th review because it exceeded my expectations and sushi is my favorite food! When I parked at the strip center off of La Paz and Marguerite (technically a street behind Marguerite at the Commerce Center traffic-light - plenty of free, easy parking!) it did not look impressive but I was recommended here by a friend so I went in to try. The first thing I noticed was it was PACKED! Wow this place is popular (they even have photos on the walls of all their customers) and after trying the food, I can see why. Even though it was the Sunday after the 4th of July weekend, all of the fish tasted fresh. I also saw an employee bringing in a bag of fresh lemons from a store into the restaurant while I was there. HOWEVER, this is the type of restaurant you to go to eat fun rolls (or maki). Don't come here expecting high end nigiri. I mean you can order the nigiri and it's ok but I wouldn't come here to order a bunch of nigiri expecting a fine dining experience and then give this place a bad review since that's not the kind of restaurant it is here. Personally I wouldn't order nigiri here - I go elsewhere for that! You come here for super yummy creative rolls (they even have an entire page of zero-rice rolls if you want to be no-carb!) and fun appetizers. I ordered: Baja Roll (spicy tuna, cucumber, avocado, cilantro on the inside with fresh yellowtail and jalapeños on top) = 10/10 delicious! Washington Roll (basically a California roll on the inside with sliced salmon on the outside - then for $1 extra I had them thinly slice lemon on top of it = my favorite!) 10/10 delicious! Vegetable Tempura - this was super tasty I got pumpkin, carrot, onion, potato, broccoli, green bean - this was a delicious assortment! 10/10 delicious Everything was delicious and fresh and exceeded expectations. The service was also outstanding - especially from the guy in the glasses (sorry didn't catch his name). I was served my food very quickly and I was checked in on multiple times to make sure everything was good and I didn't need anything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As for as ambiance, there are many tables, a few booths on one wall and a sushi bar. There were TVs playing sports but the volume wasn't on so you could still have a conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, I will totally come back to Sushi Samurai since in my experience it's the best sushi in Mission Viejo!

This was my Fiancé & I's first time at Samurai. We showed up at a busy time but we instantly got sat at the bar. One of the deals the day we went was Buy 1 Get 1 50% off bento boxes.. service was quick and staff was so nice and ready to answer all questions. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music was so fun & made for a fun last minute date night![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We'll definitely be back!

We came here after my son's band concert with his band friends since they go to middle school across the street. The owner knows my friend's family well and they were very attentive and courteous to us. The food was delicious and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place is friendly and intimate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is our go to gathering spot after the kids' band concert performance.

This place came highly recommended by many of our friends, and we finally got a chance to try it out. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance felt cozy and family-oriented.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The sushi was great overall, with plenty of options to choose from. They have an impressive selection of baked rolls, which I really enjoyed. The Special #1 was good, though my expectations were a bit higher. The Viking Roll was flavorful, but I would've preferred the lemon to be a little less overpowering. The Awesome Roll was absolute perfection and the Baked Scallop Roll was amazing too Definitely a place we'd come back to great vibe, great service, and delicious sushi!

Samurai Sushi had been flying low on my radar for a while, and I finally made it here with my calabash sistah, SP. She had visited a couple of months ago with friends and suggested we come here for my birthday celebration. So, here we are - and overall, I wasn't impressed. It was just alright. I had hoped for more, for better, especially given its four-star rating. We arrived early on a Wednesday evening, and the place was packed. Always a promising sign, right? We were seated right next to the door - not ideal, but we rolled with it. The energy was lively, with a lot of regulars who clearly love this spot. I just didn't get the hype. Happy Hour Specials (Monday-Thursday, All Day) - Buy one nigiri/sushi roll, get the second one 50% off - Buy one sake/beer, get the second one for $1 If you're here for Happy Hour, order your sushi in pairs to maximize the discount. I crunched the numbers - nigiri averages around $5.50, and rolls range between $11 and $12 with the deal. The fish-to-rice ratio wasn't great, and the rolls - well, they felt like dressed-up California Rolls (SP ordered most of them; I stuck to nigiri). Despite the inviting and lively atmosphere, service was just okay, too. The servers were busy, but our table felt lost in the shuffle. After waiting patiently, I had to flag someone down just to place another order. Watching the crowd, it's clear Samurai Sushi has a loyal following. I just don't understand why. (shrugs) Is Samurai Sushi bad? No. Is it good? Not really. It's just... okay. I told SP that the next time we go out for sushi, we're going to one of my favorite spots in Lake Forest; good sushi and a great value. - Big Aloha! I initially reached out about reserving a table for 40+ people during a basketball tournament weekend and was told the manager would contact me back. She seamlessly added the extra guests without hesitation. Her only request was that we send over everyone's food orders ahead of time so the kitchen could prepare and ensure nobody had to wait too long. And wow -- they absolutely delivered. Every single order came out accurately and in a very timely fashion. No mistakes, no confusion, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. The servers were organized, attentive, and handled a very large group with ease. Service was truly 10/10. One of the reasons I chose Kin Sushi for a large group dinner was because the menu truly has something for everyone -- udon, sushi rolls, vegetarian rolls, bento boxes, chirashi, sashimi, and something for everyone. They even had Thai iced tea, which isn't normally something in you have in a Japanese restaurant. Parking was very easy, which is always appreciated when coordinating a large party, and there's a restroom conveniently located in the back. Since it was complimentary, we didn't think too much of it. For the mains, we ordered the beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki bento specials. Unfortunately, both proteins were sliced extremely thin. The chicken especially had a jerky-like texture, and both the chicken and beef lacked flavor. After reading other reviews, they had similar experience. The teriyaki sauce itself was also pretty bland. The tempura was okay, but the tempura dipping sauce tasted watered down and lacked the usual savory depth you'd expect. The one standout was the roll topped with salmon and avocado with spicy tuna inside. It was presented beautifully and tasted fresh and well-balanced. Based on this, I honestly think rolls are what they do best. I really hope they improve the preparation and seasoning of the chicken and beef because it was a major turnoff -- and this is coming from someone who eats pretty much everything. It's hard to justify paying around $22 for a bento when the main protein feels flavorless and insubstantial. With so many good Japanese resto in Lake Forest, I would skip this until the proteins are fixed.
