I expected the restaurant to be busy during lunch time, but I certainly did not expect how small it is. It felt crammed inside, but no big deal. Parking was also tricky. It's pretty limited, so I had to park a bit further away. In terms of food and service, Thai Basil did a great job. Our server was very patient while we figured out what to order. I went for the Chicken Pad Thai and stuck with water as my drink. I was pleasantly surprised when the food started coming out because I expected it to take longer. I'd say it took about 15 minutes, even during lunch rush. My Chicken Pad Thai was delicious. The serving size was good and it came with a spring roll on the side. The price isn't bad at all either. It was basically $16 after tax for my lunch. I'd definitely come here again on my own.

Parking was easy, but unfortunately the service was the worst part of the visit. I sat down to look at the menu and place a to-go order, only to be told to move to another seat. A simple order of pad thai and spring rolls took exactly 42 minutes. After several follow-ups, no one told me the food was ready until I walked up to the counter myself. Overall, a frustrating experience, and I would not recommend it with other Thai restaurant options nearby.

It is counter service, so you take a menu, find a seat, then walk up to order when you're ready. I ordered the basil fried rice with tofu, medium spicy ($18) and my friend ordered the garlic udon noodles with mild spice and a Dr Pepper ($22). The portions were plentiful and the food was very fast. It was also really yummy. I wish that mine had a bit more basil flavor, but it was still good. I like that they use real Thai chilies (YUM) but be warned if you are sensitive to spice. The restaurant was very quiet, possibly because the monsoon brewing, but they're also not on Apple Maps. If you're reading this, make sure you reach out to Apple to help them out!! Overall I would give Bangkok Grill a 4/5, as I think coming around to check on the tables after dropping off food would be an added effect, but it's definitely not a deterrent. The counter service was friendly and efficient. I look forward to coming back and trying more food on the menu.

SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS…read more Smile Thai Cuisine 2107 S. Rural Road Tempe, 85282 I last visited this restaurant more than 10 years ago, so it was time for a new review. Upon entering I immediately noticed that the inside has totally changed. The entrance seems to be filled with a bar and a cash register and the tables have moved to the side. We started off with an appetizer of chicken satay. Long thin strips of chicken threaded onto skewers and served with a peanut sauce. It was a tasty dish though a bit difficult to get off the wooden skewers. For companions main course, ordered was pork cashew nuts. The dish had a melange of vegetables in a chile/garlic sauce. Companion enjoyed it be was unable to finish the dish because the portion was large. I ordered duck curry. I asked for it to be spicy, but unfortunately it was anything but that. The sauce was thin and without body and had an assortment of veggies in it along with some duck. At the bottom of the bowl I found a leg of duck. The dish was served with white rice which I promptly added to the sauce in an attempt to soak up some of it, but alas, it was to no avail. For drinks, we both ordered Thai Tea, which was properly made. It is served in tall jars, and neither of us could drink it all. If you have real Thai food that is Thai hot, Thai Tea will get rid of the heat on your palate in less than a minute. Cleanliness is a bit of a question, as our table had some old food encrusted on the edge. 3 Stars

I got the panang curry with tofu, pad woonsen with chicken, pad eggplant, and satay chicken. All were between 2-3 spice levels. Parking could be confusing. We grabbed a private table near the window to enjoy the sunset. We ordered the Papaya salad as an appetizer to share, my friend had the Tom Yum soup as an entree and I had the Green Curry spicy. The salad and soup were ordered medium heat. We had water with lemon and shared a Asahi beer. The Papaya salad was delicious, fresh and had a little heat. The Tom Yum soup was excellent, creamy, wonderful coconut and lemon grass flavors. The Green Curry was one of the best curry dishes I've ever had. Deep and complex flavors, creamy coconut offset the heat perfectly. The atmosphere was causal and relaxed. The server was friendly and helpful in answering a few questions we had about the menu. Never had to ask for water refills as service was very prompt. We look forward to returning very soon. Highly recommended for excellent Thai cuisine with bold flavors!

Everything is consistently flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. Mae-Khong has become a favorite, and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.
