    Kung Pao with beef
    Ceyda B.

I was in the neighborhood and wanted to try this family-owned Chinese restaurant which was located right next to a pub. I went there one and a half hours before the closing time. They got a few take-outs, but no other dine-in customers besides me during my dinner. I got one of the dinner combos; Kung Pao with beef. I asked it to come with white rice and hot & sour soup. They cook the food by order. The food was tasty. Kung pao had a mark on the menu that said it would be spicy. But I didn't feel any. Well, he also didn't ask me how spicy I wanted it. Besides of that, vegetables and beef were tender. Cooked perfectly fine. To my surprise, my str-fry had cashews and water chestnuts too. Wasn't expecting it. I finished everything. I just wish that the menu could be more clear about the food items and what type of vegetables or nuts they would use it. I don't have any allergy to nuts or big allergic reactions to some vegetables, but some people have. Ordering without knowing what it cooks with is not good for the customer, and not good for the business when they return the food because it cooked something they cannot have.

Very good and consistent chinese food. Found this place while in college and still choose it even after moving further away

This is a sad story. This used to be Wongs many years ago. We would eat there once a week if not more. They had some of the best Chinese food in AZ. One day they closed for vacation. A few months later it became what it is today. Hoping it was just a remodel we stopped in for lunch. The Mongolian Beef was nothing like it was before. Neither were the pot stickers. Both great and family favorites. Also it looked like it was totally different. The regular waiters weren't there and neither was the owner. It looked like it was taken over by new people. Fast forward many years. A friend of mine tells me that Henry still owns the place and he's going there to get some dinner. Fast forward a few months and I'm driving by and hungry so I decide to give it a try. Sorry, same Mongolian Beef from after the remodel. Nothing special except Henry was there. It was some beef an lots of onions. No rice noodles with lots of beef and a few onions. Marginal beef and rice you can buy almost anywhere in Phoenix. Too bad. If you live in the neighborhood maybe. But not worth the 10 mile drive in both directions now days. I can get marginal MB anywhere with sub standard egg rolls and basic fried rice.

Easy online order experience. All requests were made. Food was prepared fresh/hot and was tasty. Would like to try other vegetarian dishes the next time. Will try again soon. :)

S9. Hunan Triple D7. Sesame Chicken Dinner Combo
    Danielle R.

Of all the Chinese food restaurants around town, I like this restaurant a lot. This restaurant had all of our favorite items in one spot and the prices are reasonable as well. We ordered the sesame chicken dinner combo that came with an egg roll. A spicy triple hunan meal, and an order of egg drop wonton soup. Everything was cooked well and ehe ingredients were quality. My only small concerns were the cost of the soup (almost $7) and my medium hot level for the spicy Hunan wasn't spicy at all. There didn't taste like any spice was included. Other than that, the experience was great and my special instructions with one of the meals was read and completed. I also liked that they included wonton strips with the soup, some places don't and charge extra. I will definitely be back! It's one of my new favorite local spots.

Ordered Grubhub from here and the food was pretty gross. The after taste was terrible and the fried rice taste burnt.

The soup dumplings are decent, but they are frozen, which kind of just seem like false advertising because on the menu, it says something about 16 hour long broth. The skewers are just okay too. The Mapo tofu is a fucking death trap. There is so much mala in it that my mouth was buzzing and it taste medicinal. And before anyone says that it's supposed to taste like that, it's not. I'm Chinese and it's not supposed to taste like CHM. Also, they charge for water and while that's not illegal, it definitely is scummy.

Order at the cashier, grab a number, and food will be served to you. Needless to say, I ordered the 4. Shanghai pork mini soup dumplings which were $10.25 for 6 dumplings. I would've loved less dough, more soup, overall bigger portion size (larger dumplings or more of them). Otherwise, the soup itself was tasty. We also ordered the 14. Chongqing Fried Spicy Chicken $13.95, which was a platter of boneless chicken and peppers. I was very impressed with the crisp exterior but soft/juicy interior of the chicken. I'm not usually a spice person, but I was left feeling tingly but not in pain and not numb. Overall I found Heng's Kitchen to be disproportionately pricey given the taste and portion sizes. I'm pretty critical and discerning about my XLB, and this place did not totally satisfy my craving, although I was pleasantly surprised about the chicken. Note: rice is not included with any dish and is $1 extra. Free room-temperature self-serve water available.
