We ordered fried chicken wings as an appetizer, Pad Thai, and Panang curry. The wings were a bit dry and bland, needed to pair with the sauce on the side, which was a little tangy and spicy. The pad thai and panang curry with braised beef were great, but some pieces of beef wasn't tender. The portion was on the smaller side, considering about their price, they are higher than most of the Thai restaurants in Phoenix. We also had a mango sticky rice as a dessert, it wasn't too sweet and the coconut milk flavor was good too. Overall, food was good, service was ok, the decoration inside was authentic. Bu if you needed to wait for 30 mins+ to have a seat in this restaurant, I think you could pass it.
If you're in a mood for some good Thai. This is the place to stop. Park. And grub. Lovely seating area...and don't be tricked by the doors. There is only one entrance....lol Tip top service. Delicious food. Fast and simple. I had a craving for some sticky rice and wings which came out O so yummy... Thank you Glai Baan!!!! I will be back for sure...
Came here without a reservation on a weeknight and got lucky with a short wait time. All of the staff is so nice and inviting. We sat inside and ordered the mussels to start. I ordered the green curry special which she recommended because I like spice. My bf got the pad thai and it was super delicious. This place is a little on the pricier side but def some of the best thai food i've had in AZ. Can't wait to come again
This little spot might not look like much from the outside, but wow - Glai Baan has the some of the best thai food you'll find in Arizona! The staff is super friendly, and the food is always on point. Everything tastes amazing and you can tell they use really fresh ingredients. You've gotta try the crab or mackerel fried rice. And if you're looking to have some fun, grab a Phuket bucket with M-150. Parking can be a bit difficult to find but you can park on the residential street behind the restaurant.
There were 4 of us. Our server, Kassiddi, was fantastic, super attentive, knowledgable, helpful, friendly, we couldn't have asked for better, she was awesome. The ambience is super comfortable, easy, casual. But, it's *super* loud, like really, really loud. The 4 of us had to literally scream, top of our lungs, to hear each other, and these aren't big tables, it's tight in there, so you're very close together. We left with sore throats from yelling. It felt like "a relief" when we stepped out front. After 2 hours sitting in the wooden seats, my butt was also relieved to be getting up. Parking is ridiculous, it's a very thin one way driveway with *no way to turn around* when you reach the end - back it up! Super tiny parking lot. Food: the food was very good. We ordered 6-8 things for the 4 of us because all items are pretty small. Top section of the menu are called smaller items. They were. Items on the bottom section are bigger, but not big. For perspective, when the 4 of us split an item from the bottom "entree section" we each got 2-3 bites/forks-full. So a full entree for one person is 8-12 bites. All items tasted very good, clearly high quality, well curated and definitely unique to this restaurant. The steamed white rice was hot, steamy, moist and sticky, really good. The Panang Chicken was really good, different, creamy, dark, rich and smokey. I added pictures of the menu, inside, patio, bar and a few food items so you can see for yourself. Would I go back? I would because the service was great, visual atmosphere was comfortable, and food was high quality, but turning the music volume down at least 1/2 way from what we had would go a long way,... a looooong way, seriously. Increasing the portion size of menu entrees would also be an improvement since they're about the same price as larger portions elsewhere. And throw some cushions on those inside wooden benches, our butts will thank you. Overall this was a good first visit and I'd try Glai Baan again, hoping for the same great service, quality food and updates to the other items.
Glai Baan is the perfect lively date spot in Phoenix with very fresh and bright flavors. The menu is on the smaller side but you can tell that is a quality over quantity type of joint. The staff here are so kind it really made the experience of having to wait a bit so much better! The gentleman at the front door recommended a wine bar around the corner to wait at after we got on the list, which was a cute divey spot. The food was delicious, we loved the papaya salad so much, there were so many flavors of spicy and tangy, and the papaya itself was very refreshing. We had the Pad kee mao and Panang curry which were also delicious. For the chicken pad kee mao we requested it to be gluten free and they gave us the same rice noodles as the Pad Thai and a slightly different sauce which was so darn good! The chicken was very tender. When the Panang curry said it came with beef, I didn't know what to think but after a single bite I was a huge fan! So many flavors hit you at once and the beef was so incredible, it was falling part. I also ordered the savory cocktail option (I can't remember the name) which had cucumber vodka, fish sauce, mint, onion, and some other goodies, and wow! It changed my life. Highly highly recommend. Overall would definitely come back here, we were a walk in on a Saturday night and had an hour and a half wait to get in.
Been wanting to come here and finally got the chance to just order something on my way to the hotel from the airport. So I ordered the chicken wings and the Ka Na Moo grob and both were freaking delish!! Let's start first with the chicken wings - the order came with 5 good size wings. It was well cooked. Crunchy on the outside and still juicy in the inside. The flavor was so balanced and that dipping sauce was a perfect complement. The Ka Na Moo grob was amazing. Reminded me of those street food in Thailand. It was earthy, smoky and the pork belly was crunchy and was well balanced by the Chinese broccoli. Just a delicious dish. When I arrived around 7:30 pm the place was packed. The one thing I noticed through was the music was a little loud which is almost hard to have a conversation with someone But service was great!!
WTH - what the heck. How could this be my 1st time here and found out it is food crack. Ok I'll get to that in a minute. It reminds me of a Thai food Tapas restaurant in which I want to give them all my coins to sample more dishes. The music is so perfect bobbing my head to the music. The atmosphere has me needing a lounge chair with ottoman to kick my feet back. 2 drinks the sun shower & a Thai ice tea both excellent. I enjoyed the patio which is gorgeous. The inside and patio mad cute & quaint. The food all 5 stars. My top favorite the dumplings & glass noodle shrimp, pork belly special. Came to Glai Baan for lunch. Service was super friendly and expedient. The dining room quickly filled up quickly and the server came over and said there was a special that was not on menu. It was a Japanese eggplant dish with minced pork and shrimp along with basil, lemongrass, garlic and onions. I'm glad we ordered this special, it was fantastic. We also ordered the grilled chicken, and Thai pork dumplings which were equally very tasty. The lunch ended with the Penang curry which was moderately spiced. I can eat spicy so some might find the curry a little too spicy. The entire place was very quaint with a small patio available. The main door was a little tricky to find as it's covered by vines and all you see is the door handle. Overall, great Thai food and and attentive service. Thank you.
It is exceedingly rare to discover an establishment in Phoenix that possesses such a genuine, homely soul while remaining entirely well-appointed and impeccably well maintained. Upon my approach, the exterior was so beautifully curated that I initially mistook it for an exclusive, private small garden. I stopped at Glai Baan and ventured inside, finding the dining room wonderfully bustling with a lively, fashionable crowd a thoroughly excellent sign. The venue offers the most delightful arrangements; one may choose to dine within the main room or enjoy a seat adjacent to the exquisite flower beds and lush, cool greenery. There is also a beautifully structured small bar. The entire aesthetic is nothing short of exceptional, and I found myself quite enamored with the decor. I escorted myself to an excellent table facing the bar and requested a traditional Thai Iced Tea to begin. The bartender was an absolute credit to the establishment immensely warm, professional, and genuinely friendly. The hospitality here is truly remarkable; the staff handles their patrons with the gracious care of family, which I found immensely pleasing. For my dinner entrée, I selected the Kanom Jeeb, which bears a marvelous resemblance to the finest dim sum found in elite Chinese establishments. The kitchen executed the order with commendable timing, and upon its elegant presentation, my evening meal was rendered entirely complete. The seamless blend of sophisticated flavor, beautiful botany, and refined hospitality was an absolute treat. I shall most certainly be returning to this charming sanctuary in the near future
The Internet loves Glai Baan which is precisely how I found myself here. Ngl, the reservation system is pretty invested - you call, leave the details of your desired reservation, and someone will call you back with some options. But do yourself a favor and make a resy otherwise you'll have to wait 1+ hours. The vibes were vibing and the playlist was banging. If you're an old person like me, I'd suggest sitting on the patio where it's not quite so loud lol. Of all the things we ordered, I liked the kanom jeep ($12) best. These are like shu mai - pork dumplings with scallions, ginger - but distinctly Thai in flavor. They tasted familiar, but not, and a really fun way to start the meal. We also shared the following: -larb moo ($13): minced pork, shallots, herbs, toasted rice + lime dressing -pad kee mao ($20): wide rice noodles, Chinese broccoli, mushroom, bamboo shoots, Thai basil + egg Both were very good versions of dishes I typically order from Thai restaurants. I do wish we ventured outside our comfort zones and tried something a little more off beat, but that can be saved for next time. While the meal was great, there were subtle nuisances that could have been better. The kanom jeep was room temp and could have used a little more heating. And the mango in the mango sticky rice was super not ripe. In any case, I love that Glai Baan exists where she lives. It's definitely worth a visit.

This is that get your ass in the car moment ! Hop on a plane, run , do whatever you have to do to experience the vibes at Glai Baan . Excellent staff and service . We sat at the bar and the bartender was fantastic and attentive.The music in the restaurant was so good I immediately added Durand Jones to my playlist . The portions are normal , I appreciate that . The rice cakes are delicious. OMGAWD everything was excellent and they've got super spicy upon request too. Prices are slightly higher but it's worth it . Parking is very limited and the place is packed inside and outside . Think , eclectic Thai dive bar and it's definitely a local favorite. Even the front door is hidden .. giving it a speakeasy feel . Highly recommend, will absolutely be back ! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for sooooo long. I'm so glad I was able to finally get in and try it. We ordered the steak salad and dumplings for an appetizer. Both were sooo good and had so much flavor. For my entree I ordered the chicken pad Thai. That was so delicious. I've never had Thai food and I fear I have been missing out. The service was great and welcoming. It's very small and homey inside. We also ordered two drinks, can't remember the names but they were flavorful. I'll be back! read more

Wowwww! I have heard about this place for so long and finally I had a chance to try it myself. As soon as you walk it, you gonna feel coming to see your bestie house ( Glaibaan means far away from home ) but for me, this place more like home away from home. The food is very delicious, the simple drink but so refreshing, the service is top notch. The atmosphere just reminding me the street food in small villages in Thailand (who have been in Thailand, you know what I'm talking na about) I couldn't say enough how much really enjoy the foods, the ambience and the service. You gotta come and try-- I'm sure you will love it! I will come back again soon. read more

Everything you've probably heard about this place is TRUE! Yes there's a wait, but OH is it worth it! There's a cute little bar they will direct your too next door with games and all kinds of drinks to choose from while you wait. The chicken skewers are an absolute can't miss I would order 6 type of appetizer. The pad Thai is authentic and a stale. The crab fried rice is elevated, packed with flavor and another can't miss item. Staff is incredibly friendly and the vibe inside is the perfect ambiance to enjoy authentic delicious food! Made a reservation for next time on our way out! read more
Updating my review based on their reservation system and customer service since my last visit. I called Wednesday, December 17th for a reservation on January 3rd. I called back on Saturday, December 20th and left another message since I received no response. I didn't receive a call back until Tuesday, December 23rd to tell me that there wasn't availability at the time I requested. I have a few issues...first, it took 6 days to call me back, and this is their only way to request a table. Their website and answering machine state they will call back in 1 business day. Second, they didn't really seem to care at all and offered no apology for this. It's fine if there is no availability, but to make people wait nearly a week to get an answer causes those people to miss out on reserving other restaurants. Overall, I just don't understand the reason for the archaic reservation system, especially when the restaurant doesn't abide by their own system and call back in a reasonable time. Cheers, I will go enjoy somewhere else rather than wait a week to find out if I'm able to eat here. It's not right to make customers call multiple times without a response in a reasonable amount of time. read more
Papaya Salad - very fresh, light, delicious! Not spicy at all. Grilled chicken - wow this was phenomenal! Perfectly seared/charred and marinaded. The sauce that it came with elevated the appetizer even more. Chicken was super fresh and tender. This was the star of our lunch, hands down! Pad Kee Mao - had a bit of the breadth of the wok, rice noodles didn't stick together at all. Everything was fresh and delicious. No complaints. Overall a solid and authentic Thai restaurant in Phoenix. The only other thing to call out is that service is a bit slow. It took 45 minutes before our food first came out, starting with the papaya salad. The entire lunch took almost 2 hours because the wait for food was long. However, service was wonderful as folks were polite and helpful with recommending dishes. read more

Amazing Thai restaurant with great service! It was amazing to see how well they flowed in the small space and how lively it was! We made reservations and when we got there it was pretty slow but soon after it filled up rather quick so make a reservation to ensure you have a seat! Food was amazing and so was their Thai tea. The flavors were so fresh, crisp and hit every taste bud! The colors were vibrant as well which made each dish look great, and the textures from soft and tender to crispy and crunchy were fantastic! We arrived at 3:00pm, before heading to the airport. Since we were in between mealtimes, it wasn't too busy. After we parked, we weren't sure where the entrance was. The door was covered in vines. The interior is dark, but we chose to sit outside instead. It was vibrant with greenery around. The yum het tod, tempura oyster mushrooms, with shallots and herbs were indeed yum. They were flavorful and crispy. Not sure if the salted crab added anything to the papaya salad. The spice level was good, but I wished the papaya was thinner. Lastly, we had the ka na moo grob- Chinese broccoli with crispy pork belly, son in law egg and rice. It was comforting. This was the best meal we had while in Arizona. It may be partly attributed to us missing Asian food. read more
Finally got to try the very hyped Glai Baan, and you know what it deserves ALL the hype!! Everything I had was great and my partner loved the food too. Our server was the nicest and most attentive person. We were sat inside and the vibe was just perfect. Honestly, everyone in the restaurant had a great vibe (including other customers). Im already planning our next Glai Baan date! Little tip: put in your reservation ASAP. if you can't put in a reservation- get there early-ish (we got there around 4:30 ish), put your name on the list, then walk to Rewind Bar next door for some pre-dinner drinks. Visited Glai Baan while in Phoenix. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, and the service was warm and genuinely welcoming from the moment we walked in. Dan, the owner, greeted and seated us himself, setting the tone with heartfelt hospitality. It's hard to believe this charming space was once a 1954-era Dairy Queen -- the transformation is impressive and full of character. We tried several of the Thai dishes thoughtfully curated by Cat, Dan's partner and a Bangkok native -- each one soulful, beautifully balanced, and packed with authentic flavor. My friend and I love trying new places and this one popped up on Instagram and we went on a Thursday evening at 5:30pm. The place was on a busy street and the parking was tiny which is why this review is getting a 4 stars. It was so congested and getting out was enough to give someone an aneurysm! However, once I found parking and the front door, I was transported to a different place. I LOVED it inside. It was very cozy and intimate and everyone was legit so nice and welcoming. Our server was so nice and since we have never been there we asked for recommendations. We got the mushroom appetizer which was out of this world amazing! I could have eaten like 10 plates of that. Then we got the rice soup and another dish with rice noodles! Both amazing as well. The rice soup, I have been craving and cannot wait to try it again. With the parking though, I probably my would do take out or go earlier than 5:30pm. All in all, I love this spot, food and service and ambiance was amazing! read more
Finally! This place has been on my bucket list of restaurants to try forever! My friend and I were in area shortly after it just opened on a Thursday at 12:00 PM. At 12, there was ample parking, though I can only imagine the lack of parking during main dining hours. The restaurant is small with bar, main and patio seating. We were greeted by an extremely friendly staff. We chose to sit out on the patio. The place filled up fairly fast shortly after we arrived. All the servers were on top of taking orders, delivering food and clearing dishes along with checking up on you. We ordered beers while looking over the menu. So many dishes I wanted to try, but it was the only 2 of us. We ended up ordering the Beef Salad, Shrimp Pad Thai and Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly. All the dishes were amazing, maybe the weakest was the Pad Thai. The Beef Salad and Chinese Broccoli were just heavenly. We will definitely be back for lunch when it opens or make a reservation for the evening. To note: my only negative is the flies in the patio area, even with the fly fans, didn't help. This restaurant is single-handedly one of my favorite things about Arizona. After being told that this is the best high restaurant and all of Phoenix, I knew I had to check it out as a Thai food lover. I stopped by for the first time on a Thursday for lunch, planning this specifically because I heard it is extremely difficult to get a table for dinner especially on weekends. On their website, there is an option to make reservations: "Reservations accepted only for dinner service Lunch is first come first serve To make a reservation - call into the restaurant Monday - Friday before 5 PM and leave a message. We will call you back the next business day to go over availability. Reservations are for parties of 1-7 people The parking lot is small but wraps around the right side of the building and towards the back. The building is covered with greenery, so initially I was confused about where to enter, but the door is at the very front. Upon entering you will be greeted and hopefully seated. I opted to sit at a high table by the bar. Along with the delicious food I will describe later in this review, I was floored by the ambience. As someone with Southeast Asian heritage (but isn't Thai specifically), this restaurant felt like home away from home. I appreciated the purposeful chaos of all the trinkets and decor in general. They probably shared cultural and elements like wooded sculptures, cups and China from Thailand (I looked at where they were made on the bottom), pictures of the former King, etc. my waiter he even told me that while they are not all family, many live together as roommates and go on trips together. That sounds pretty much like family to me, which adds to the genuine warmth of the place. While waiting for my food and in between bites, I would savor both the delicious flavors and cozy atmosphere. I ordered the: - Kanom jeeb (steamed Meat Shop pork dumplings/ scallion/ginger ginger soy) - Thai Tea - Pad Thai with crispy pork +$2 (rice noodle/ egg/ peanuts/ bean sprout tofu) On a separate visit where I brought someone else, we ordered Kao pad pu (crab fried rice / egg) Wow. Everything was perfect. Filled with flavor. Delicious. Well-portioned. Pad thai was tangy and saucy. Fried rice was savory with fresh crab. Thai tea had a strong and intricate flavor profile. As expected and beyond. Overall I cannot recommend a restaurant in Phoenix more. Despite being a Yelp Elite in the Phoenix community, I don't go out to eat much, as I only want to spend money if it's worth it. I've tried several Thai restaurants in the greater Phoenix area. This is absolutely the best. Don't pass on the papaya salad with salted crab. I got it with a side of pork belly which was fried perfectly. Try the son in law eggs and by all means get the Nua nam tok. Super cute little place with awesome staff. Probably one of the best restaurants I have been to in the entire country so far, because the dishes got so much flavor, on top of not being exuberantly expensive. My partner and I put our names down at 5pm at the door on a Saturday, and finally got seated at 6:30pm, and the experience was overall very worth it in my opinion. Beginning with the yum woon sen, which contained glass noodle, minced pork, shrimp, herbs, and lime dressing, the flavor was potently defined by the herbs and lime dressing, which was exactly what I had expected. Even though the portion wasn't huge, it was a great starter for our next few dishes. The mackarel fried rice was out of this world. However they made it, it worked very well, because the flavor was just on point. I didn't actually need the sauce given on the side of the dish, because the rice itself was just too good. Then the pad thai was pretty good as well, even if it didn't contain enough tamarind, because normally in similar settings, there'd be too much palm sugar, and it wasn't the case here, as the dish only had some level of sweetness and it wasn't overwhelming. Finally, the mango sticky rice, which honestly is one of my favorite desserts of all time, was as good as I imagined it to be. The mango pieces were sweet and soft, and the rice was coated very well within the coconut milk. For those that want to visit here, I recommend doing some very good planning in order to eat at a reasonable time. It worked out for me because I went there at 5pm when I wasn't even hungry, and then left and handled some other business and then returned to the restaurant with a table ready for me. Their menu is a bit different from a regular thai restaurant but it really stand out!! Love their crabs friesrice and their lemongrass mussels!! Service was great! Cant wait to come back and try more new dishes of their menu! read more

Do they take reservations?
Yes...for parties of 5 or more. It is on their website. If you have less than 5, just put in your name and walk around the corner to Rewind Bar...Have a few drinks there and just check in from time to time for when your table is ready.
Any vegan options?
Yes, I'm vegan and they have accommodated with any of the dishes I have requested. Be sure to specify that you do not want fish or oyster sauce and you're good to go!
