RRB seems to be a very active food truck, and their calendar is packed with venues. Their menu is packed with good eats! I wanted to try the tuna poke, but the fresh tuna hadn't come in yet. For those who don't know: what tuna poke is, it's a Hawaiian ceviche. That's the best way I know how to describe it. Also, it's pronounced: "po-KAY"! Now, you can order it like a local! Also on the menu, raw oysters, complete with a menu board telling you where they're from: Which state and body of water, which I thought was pretty cool. Even though they didn't have tuna on hand this day, it still tells me that they were insisting on fresh ingredients. I'm good with that! I went with my second choice: Bacon, egg, cheese, avocado, salsa sandwich, with a side of pork dumplings. I call them "pot-stickers". I was assured that the sandwich was, "substantial". After observing safe money and food handling procedures, I received my order quickly. She was right, the sandwich was rather substantial! The order of pork dumplings was what seemed like the mass-produced frozen ordered type found in any Asian restaurant that sells them. That's not to say they weren't good, because they definitely were! A side of dipping sauce was provided for flavor enhancement. The sandwich was also incredibly tasty. While very filling, it wasn't heavy. None of it was. The fresh flavor combination really worked. The price wasn't bad. I think it was $13 for both items, which seemed fair. I asked for a seat at the bar, and even though space is very limited, the staff went above and beyond to find me one. That kind of effort on a packed afternoon says a lot about this team. The bartender was phenomenal -- attentive, warm, and somehow managed to make every single person at that busy bar feel like they were the only guest in the restaurant. The whole staff carried that same energy. They were also wonderfully descriptive about the daily specials and menu offerings, which made ordering a pleasure rather than a guessing game. I decided to try the crab cake, and I'm so glad I did. I grew up on the East Coast eating crab, and I've had my fair share -- I've long held that Phillips in Maryland made the gold standard. I am happy to report that Captain & Crew has dethroned them in my book. This crab cake was pure lump crab meat, not overpowered by fillers or seasoning. You could actually taste the crab. The accompaniments they served alongside it elevated the whole dish even further. Thoroughly impressed. The wine pairings were equally well-curated. I took the staff's recommendations and they absolutely nailed it. A heads-up for first-timers: parking is the one small challenge. There's no convenient lot right there, so you may need to use a parking garage and walk over. Honestly? Embrace it. If you're already in Downtown Naples, it's a beautiful stroll that perfectly sets the mood before you arrive. Captain & Crew is a true hidden gem. We started with some Stone Crabs, then some Peel & Eat Shrimp, then my wife and I shared an entree of Blackened Grouper with sides of fries and coleslaw, where we also added a few scallops. Delicious! We thought we were done, but our server informed us of the excellent Key Lime pie. We had room to share one slice, and we are so happy we did! It was excellent. But for me, it "tastes like Sysco" as my brother would say. Soulless. I think what is really getting me is the light smell of mopped floors. It's not overt but noticeable. The toast was sourdough bread which I love the taste of toasted sourdough with some cream cheese. The breakfast was really good. The price range was very decent for a hotel restaurant because they usually overcharge you but it was around $8-$19. They also had apple,grape and grapefruit juice. It's takeout only, they have a/c but don't operate it, so call ahead or plan to wait in the car or sweat it out in he summer months.
