Dr. Michel is fantastic. She has a great personality, is very knowledgeable, and always takes the time to answer questions and explain things clearly. She's easy to talk to and makes eye exams feel much less stressful. The front office staff is also always kind, pleasant, and easy to work with. I especially appreciate how easy it is to make appointments by phone or text. I go every year for my eye exam and prescription update, and the process is always smooth and efficient. I have been an optician, managing high end optometry practices for over 20 years, so I can speak to the professionalism & customer care any optometrist & staff provide their patients. I don't work in the field anymore so, I was looking for a Dr who was thorough, who's practice had up to date equipment, a kind efficient staff & a good selection of eyewear who also accepted my Vision insurance! A long list, I know :) I started seeing Dr Kendall George at the recommendation of one of my friends & I was very impressed by how personable & attentive he was. I got a great eye exam for bifocal contacts & glasses. He listened to my concerns about starting bifocal contacts and addressed them & gave me an RX that's phenomenal (on the first try, which can be hard to get right) he's my new favorite optometrist & I wish I had worked for a Doctor like him years ago! Marlene, at the front desk was professional, authorized my new vision insurance while on the phone with me, answered my questions & never made me feel rushed! Upon checking in, I was greeted with a smile even though is was a couple minutes late & they were busy! After my exam I saw Patty (who knows her stuff) and she helped me choose a new frame & talked to me about all the new types of lens options that are out there. She never tried to 'oversell' me or recommend products that wouldn't benefit me just to make a sale (that's a big deal in this bussiness). I'm super grateful for her help & professionlism. I've been going to this practice for about 4 years now, & they have made some great cosmetic updates to the office. It is modern, clean & neat & well maintained. They have also broadened the eyewear selection to include some great quality eyewear & higher end brands which is awesome. They take the majority of vision insurance plans out there and are all very knowledgeable & helpful when explaining benefits. When I go to an optometrist I bring all my family & friends with me... (because they know if I'm going somewhere then it must be good!) they have all been very satisfied with the care they have received & continue to see Dr Kendall! I came in for a check up and he ran a full battery of visual tests, some that I've never seen before. The exam process wasn't painful or discomforting; it was actually enjoyable to hear what the tests were assessing as they were being conducted (ex: I'm near sighted and wear glasses constantly... there's a part of the exam where you put on a non-prescription pair of glasses with a card extended outward from the middle of the frame... he asks you to read it aloud, and progressively pushes it closer to your eyes. If you're still able to read it the closer it gets, it means that you wear your glasses often enough to keep your eyes healthy -- awesome!). The doc's got a gentle touch too. I have a scar on my cornea, and warned that I've had it for a long time. Usually, they have to put a dye in my eye to make sure it's not a fresh wound... and more often than not, I get this huge orange droplet that splashes everywhere, or get that uncomfortable pressure when the optometrist pulls down the lower eye lid. That didn't happen here; I hardly noticed the drop. After the appointment, I had to up my prescription again and get a new pair (/fistpump -- YES! The old one was crooked and the lens was always popping out). The girl who helped me pick out a frame was dealing with some touchy customers, but that didn't stop her from walking around the walls with me and trying on new frames. She gave some great input and we narrowed down the choices to 3 pairs. I told her my motorcycle is my main source of transportation, so the deciding factor would be what's the most flexible pair that can withstand all the running around I'm going to do in them. I believe her name's Maria, so let's use that... "Where's your helmet?" Maria asked kindly. I didn't bring it, yet she was encouraging: "If your close by, maybe you/your fiance can run back real quick and get it! No rush of course, but that way, you can try on the frames with your helmet on." Talk about smart. I looked a bit dorky with my helmet on in the office, but I found a pair that slid on and off easily, even with the tight squeeze. They were Nike w/ Flexon frames and went "all out" on them since I love my glasses: transition lenses with the clear view coating to eliminate glare. I've got VSP insurance, so it came to $236 in total. Not bad, saying my last nike pair was $387. What a happy coincidence that this is the closest location to my house... I know you only visit the optometrist every year or so, but I'd look forward to visiting him any day of the week! I recommend his office to anyone. He's got a great staff and you'll be happy with the services you receive.

What should have been a routine update to my prescription turned into a three-week ordeal of medical gaslighting, clinical errors, and total administrative failure. The most frustrating aspect of this experience was the sheer persistence of the error. Over the course of three weeks, I was provided with three different sets of trial contact lenses. Each time, I reported that I could not see--not just that it was "blurry," but that I literally could not see ten feet in front of my face. I was met with complete dismissal. Amy, the optometrist assistant/technician, repeatedly told me I just "needed to get used to it" and that my vision would improve. I was incredibly patient, trusting their professional "expertise" over my own eyes, but the improvement never came. I was essentially being told to ignore the fact that I was functionally blind. During the entire three-week trial period, I did not see or speak to Dr. Butler once. In any reputable practice, if a patient fails three consecutive lens trials and reports zero improvement, the lead doctor should step in to re-evaluate the measurements or perform a new refraction. Instead, there were no adjustments, no new measurements, and zero intervention. I was left in a "trial loop" with staff who clearly did not have the authority or the knowledge to correct the underlying issue. When I finally returned for my last appointment--hoping for a resolution--I was forced to wait an hour and a half before Dr. Butler saw me. This was the first time I had seen her since the initial exam. Even then, there was no sense of urgency. They didn't even perform a basic visual acuity test to see how poorly I was performing in the lenses they had prescribed. To make a patient wait 90 minutes after three weeks of failure is the height of professional arrogance. Communication was nonexistent. I left multiple messages for Amy, seeking help or clarification on why I still couldn't see, and she rarely bothered to return my calls. It reached a point of absurdity where I actually had to involve my insurance company just to get a return phone call. Having to use an insurance advocate to force a medical professional to speak to their patient is a painstaking and unnecessary stress that no one should have to endure. The reason I couldn't see 10 feet away finally came to light: the prescription was fundamentally wrong. After seeking second and third opinions from two other independent optometrists, they both confirmed the same shocking error. My axis was supposed to be "180" (or near 110 depending on the eye), but Dr. Butler had written down "18." This isn't a minor clerical error; it is a massive 160-degree deviation. Furthermore, despite having a documented astigmatism, I was repeatedly given lenses that were not for astigmatism. Even the final lenses they ordered were incorrect for my condition. How can a professional office be that far off? The most harrowing part of this is the safety risk. Because I trusted their professional advice that I "would get used to it," I attempted to go about my life. I was forced to drive extremely slowly and with intense caution, terrified that I might make a mistake or not see a pedestrian in the dark. It is only by sheer luck that I didn't have an accident. I suffered significant stress and anxiety trying to "wait out" a prescription that was physically impossible to see through. When the errors were laid bare, I asked--very nicely--for a refund. I had wasted weeks of my time, exhausted my energy, and received a product that was useless. They flatly refused. There was no apology for the 90-minute wait, no apology for the dangerous prescription error, and no attempt to make it right. That refusal was the final straw. The level of negligence here is staggering. It feels as though the office is operating without any focus, diligence, or sense of urgency. They are unthorough and seemingly uncaring about patient outcomes. If they can make a mistake as critical as an 18 vs. 180 axis shift and then ignore the patient's complaints for three weeks, they should not be in practice.
