Please do everything you can to keep your loved ones from being sent here. Once they are here it is basically impossible to get them out. My mom came to this facility able to talk, sit up, feed herself, and stand up to go the bathroom. She needed PT and rehabilitation to go home. After reading the negative reviews I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt because our options were limited with Covid. The second day she was here, a doctor who just met her changed her entire treatment plan that had been established by multiple doctors at USC Keck Institute and Long Beach Memorial. Immediately my mom began to decline and I voiced my concerns but was ignored. I started to document all interactions and take photos of the neglect during each visit. Every single day there was another issue and I took them seriously because my mom is not a complainer at ALL. She was left in her own urine for hours at a time, her call light was constantly moved where she couldn't reach it, and she would scream for the nurses to please help her for who knows how long. She had breathing issues and was forced to lay flat on her back which made it even harder to breathe. When she was still able to sit up unassisted she tried to pull herself up and was told that if she did it again she would be restrained and security would be called. I tried every possible way to get her transferred to any other facility and every time there was some issue that would arise making them have to keep her there. Getting anyone here on the phone is almost impossible. There were so many other issues that I don't have room to write here. My mom ultimately passed away here after declining rapidly. Please please please pick ANYWHERE else for your loved ones. Unfortunately nothing can be done to bring my mother back but I will work to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

I want to thank the nurses & respiratory therapist who allowed me to shadow them and learn from them. I did 9 weeks of RN rotation here and this is by far the most experience I have had so far in a hospital setting. Jenny (RT), Elainna, Mary (ICU), Rommel, a wound care LVN (her name escapes me, but she was so sweet), & nurse educator Jolelyn (I hope that's how you spell it) are people from the top of mind that really were wonderful to learn from. PLEASE DONT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONE IN KINDERED HOSPITAL. I won't recommend this hospital to any one specially the loved one. First Don't let the person who is giving you the tour fool you and try to make everything look nice and peacefully for you just to leave your loved one there. 0 star for office , SECURITY, Sam admitting or who ever is he, supervisor,doctors, nurses, even head nurse, trust me it's awful place the only ppl I said they are nice and they have some sympathy are the CNA and some of the nurses that I had to request by name if they let me. If u are not going to be on the top of everything your loved one will be dying in this trash hospital. Oh btw there is no communications between nurses at all like the morning nurse or night nurses. They don't pass any patient info to the next shift. And also they give my mom crushed potassium pills and they shouldn't bc my mom heart condition and it raised her heart rates high up. I'm gonna try to forgive them but I don't have to see them again. Oh and one last thing they left the IV TUBING OFF AND ALL THE MEDS WAS ON THE FLOOR. As my children and I walked around the hospital we couldn't help but see & smell this RN smoke one cigarette after anther, filling the air with clouds of smoke that was so unbearable we had to sit at the other end of the fountain, but still couldn't escape the stench! After she left we proceeded to walk around and noticed all the butts she left and a dirty glove! Shame on her! I ate to see how she acts like in the hospital, if this is how she treats the premises she works for how is she treating her patients and the inside of the hospital. I couldn't believe it, mind blowing! What a shame, hope management can do something because this is unacceptable! Regardless if she was on her break or if it was a weekend or if she's stressed out or not! Completely unacceptable behavior from anyone working at a hospital let alone health care professional who should KNOW better, this type of behavior is disgusting! read more

Management must take these POOR UNACCEPTABLE reviews SERIOUSLY and must TAKE ACTION to improve. These are not petty complaints. This place seems more of a Hospice than a Rehabilitation Center. It's eerie! This so called hospital has very poor reviews & for many reasons as listed by many people. My sister was admitted in the recent month & from the first day she stated she hated being there and would send daily messages stating "I want to go home". First morning she went to restroom by herself because no one came to help. She was locked in the restroom, she pressed the help button but no one came. 30 min later her son went to visit and he picked the lock to get her out. Constant failure to attend to her medical needs. I visited & witnessed first hand, it's dirty & seems that staff does the bare minimum when attending to patients. After 3 days she had not received any rehabilitation , her health deteriorated & went downhill. Please beware of the care your loved ones receive at this hospital or any other. Good luck! read more

PLEASE PLEASE DONT TAKE YOUR FAMILY TO THIS PLACE OF HORROR THATS WHAT IT IS... it took me 4 months to write this review, I didn't know where to start as I am in pain. My mother was transferred to this place from St Francis Hospital in November on thanksgiving to be exact. I had read reviews from here and I knew this was going to be a nightmare. I fought for my mother's rights and unfortunately since it was the holidays there were not many options and "Drs" have power and they use it. My mother was literally kicked out of the hospital by a Dr who was rude and heartless she was upset because she was working on a holiday and my mother had C-diff and needed special care since she was in isolation the nurses didn't want to deal with her " your mom takes all of our time and their is others patient " I quote there words which are painful to hear as they are talking about our love one who is sick. Let me add that my family and I always helped from feeding to changing her diaper and helping nurses and CNA change bedsheets. My mother then arrives to Kindred agains my will. I asked admission can she be transferred to a different place once I find a better place I was told YES but was my mom needed special care. oh man things changed in a matter of 4 days I notice all this wrong doings here. 1. I never seen a Dr evaluate my mother. 2. I Never got a update of her care. 3. Her room was filthy. 4. The nurses never had a answer to my question. My family and I went Every day we took shifts as if we worked there. I would wait for a Dr and called him to his phone NEVER answer. I them asked the security if there were any dr he said you need to come by at 4 am and wait for them outside and catch them as they walked in. Pretty much stalk them. I had to fight with EVERYONE to get there attention to try to get my mom out of there but my moms health decline so much due to negligence and unprofessional money hungry so call Dr's who need their license revoked. Add horrible nurses who label your love One as terminal I'll or elderly annoying. I heard a RT say about my mom she has a attitude that's why nobody helps her. I wanted to slap him so bad, my mom had pneumonia and she was having trouble breathing her oxygen level 80 she was scared and asking for help. I walked in as she was chocking with her phlegm. Patient avocado and quality care witness this. They were taking a complain from my moms neighbor. I made a report I was furious. Unfortunately there is more painful moments but there is not enough space. I will add I had to thread them with taking this to social media and the police if they wouldn't discharge my mom and when I finally got their attention with arguments and tears and transfer her to the hospital because my mom was at a level of care they couldn't care for the biggest fear of my life happen. My mother passed away on Xmas the day she was being transferred. A lot of things didn't add and I won't know what happen to my mother she suffer so much in this place because of the lack or care and compassion. And most importantly RESPECT for sick ppl. Know that this type of places DONT have dr on-site. There ICU is a joke. I will NEVER forget what I as a family member experience and my eyes saw. There words I heard and the cries of other patients asking for help. The trauma and pain that these healthcare so call professionals make you go through just to make revenue. I am pretty sure the good reviews are LIES and made by them. Let me add that I was having trouble obtaining my mom medical records. I was denied CD's of the images and let me say I still haven't received anything by mail. I was asked why do I want them for what? This place clearly hides so much. read more

How convienant that they're rushing to discharge our family and purposely scheduled a meeting for later in the day w management post discharge? Really? Amazing that you all have the audacity to push aside the pain your causing. Not emotional actual physical pain due to lack of medical experience as well as integrity. Read the reviews from each location. All refer to negligence, all have examples on varying levels. Nurses unfamiliar w signs of cardiac trouble, uncertain of how to read the monitors? Each facility has people wanting to give negative ratings based on the management's response. Those qualities are earned and learned from the top down. Why would nurses care if doctors dont? Please, listen to the reviews here speaking on how neglectful this place is. Nothing has changed over the years. They will have your family member heavily sedated because the nurses and respiratory therapists don't want to be bothered. One nurse even made my dad clean up my mom because she didn't want to do it. The female respiratory therapists would act extremely bothered if you tried to get a hold of them because your family member can't breath or isn't feeling well. In fact, one of them made the suggestion to further sedate my mom because she was being called too often. I even saw moments when the dialysis people would scream and yell at the patient in my mom's room getting dialysis and all because she would move a bit. When you want to move family member to another hospital because they are getting worse the case workers will make it near impossible for you to advocate for your family. The reason we wanted to transfer her was because they take literally days to get test results and to apply the procedure they said the patient needed. The doctors are almost impossible to find and your family member only gets worse. All this place cares about is the money they can get from Medicare. As far as I know they don't even have translation services like other hospitals do because no one would help my dad translate stuff they would tell him about my mom's care. Unfortunately my mom passed away at this hospital. They honestly shouldn't even have an ICU when doctors aren't present at all times. They made a very minimum effort to bring her back. Didn't even use a crash cart on her. If you have the misfortune of having a family member end up here try your hardest to get them out as soon as possible and be watchful that they don't keep them sedated. Also, this place has an active outbreak of Candida Auris or at least that's the fungus the nurse told us that my mom acquired at this place and it seemed like many patients there were being isolated for it. Please, listen to the "negative" reviews and fight to not have your family end up here. The Medicare laws should change to give us choices...unless that was another lie told by the case workers but I'll never know. read more

My father was admitted on August 10, 2024, and it has been so disappointing to see such an unorganized and unprofessional facility running that way it is. I really had high expectations on the care my dad would get and it has been quite the opposite. Since my interaction with the nurse that told me she would call me as soon as my dad arrived, which she never did. I took it upon myself to drive there instead because after calling multiple times nobody was answering my calls. It took the security a few calls to speak to somebody from station 2. The nurse told the security that my dad was there and that he was in room 308 C, when I got to the room it turned out it was not my dad. There was nobody there to ask questions or to find help. A young man saw me and approached me and offered to help locate my dad and he really did try but the nurses there were giving him false information, I was told he was transferred to another station but that was also incorrect. Finally, I was told he had not arrived to the hospital and he was on his way. The second night my father informed us that it took the staff many hours for them to check on him, while he is having difficulties breathing and lost all movement to his body. He just layed in bed for many hours hoping he would not choke on his flems. It is terrible to hear this from a patient that should be in good hands from trained professionals and staff members. read more

To give this facility one star is even too much. They lack communication skills, and many can barely speak or understand English. During the pandemic these nurses are the only means of communication to our loved ones and they lack the skills to do so. After talking to the night supervisor Ameth he was dismissive and unapologetic of for the lack of communication from his staff. My mother went into surgery and I was not notified before or after. His response was simply "well usually you are given a surgery date after consent form is filled out." I explained to him when I asked the nurse she said she didn't know. He still didn't apologize for the lack of communication. read more

I could tell how much the doctors and nurses work hard each day caring for my mother and simply want nothing but the best care for her. I also wanted to thank the staff for making this such a warm and welcoming place for my family visiting my mother while seeing her from outside her window during COVID-19. My family and I truly appreciate all that you do for my mother. Absolutely horrible stay! My dad was treated horribly and not only him, but my whole family as well. The nurses were never around when we needed help. The CNA s took forever to go help clean up my dad. Although, there were some nice nurses and CNA. Overall, I would never ever recommend someone to bring there love one here. If I had known how truly bad this hospital was, I would have never accepted for my father to be brought here. The especially worst workers in this hospital were the social workers. They prefer sending my father to another hospital just because he decided to speak up about how a horrible a night CNA had treated him for 3 straight day by making fun of his situation and how he was. Would leave zero stars!! DO NOT BRING YOUR FAMILY HERE!! They change their name after each lawsuit. They mistreat, neglect, and even abuse patients. My 76 year old suffered a stroke which partially paralyzed him and he was unable to cover himself with blankets and dropped them on accident male nurse got tired of picking them up and punched my dad on the face. They also let him aspirate and caused him to have lung infection due to neglect. This place is horrible!!!!!! Staff could care less they're playing in the hallways making tiktok videos and cancelling call button calls. Would go a day without changing soiled diapers also causing sores. Please do not bring family here. Fair warning. It took us over a week to fight with them in order to release my dad to a better facility. Do you reader have before bringing your loved ones here. I was a patient there for 2 weeks ... it felt like 2 years. Patient care and timely response- there is none! Most of the staff works hard, but they are quite overworked. There is NO teamwork, everyone rushes thru their day to make their bank and get the hell away. Trying to get some attention is almost impossible unless you yell loud enough for help. Even then 2 or 3 people will look at you but do nothing except tell you they will let your nurse know you need something. The X-Ray men are a total disaster. Too get an X-ray of my lungs one tried to slide a plate behind my back. I was sunk into an air bed and all he was doing was jamming that plate into my shoulder After asking him to stop - his reaction was to tell me I was refusing service, an easy way out of doing his job. Luckily my CNA was close and he came over and looked at the X-ray tech funny , grabbed my hand and helped me exit the bad position. The tech then easily slid the plate behind me for the shot. Thank God for Jimmy my CNA or else I'd have been hurt by the tech. Many there look for a way NOT to provide service. It seems ALL the patients regularly refuse something even if the patient was never asked. Talking to mgt is a waste of time. I alerted my patient advocate to my situation and she asked me to speak directly to her manager who she brought over. The mgt tuned out the moment I mentioned that from a patients perspective change is needed... she nodded then began to count the cars on the road as she did not again look me in my eyes just every so often nodding. I could tell she has no power to do anything so I was wasting her time and she wanted to be elsewhere. When you got a nurse or CNA they worked hard, getting them is the challenge. A few were terrific and did everything they could under circumstances. The one star is for them. Also the hospital food was good, except for the meats which were over cooked and left with no moisture. Don't get sick - & if you do don't go to Kindred Paramount is the bottom line read more

Had my dad transferred here after his heart surgery, they assured me they had the right equipment to facilitate his need. 2 months in, he was not getting any better I asked Dr. Rabinowitz to give me updates about my dad never heard from him or anyone else for that matter. Fought for 2 months to transfer him out because they didn't have the right equipment they assured me they had to take care of him. All In all do not take anyone to this hospital. I wish it was something lower than one because the place is horrible and The experience was horrible And the staff was unprofessional . They placed a seizure patient completely away from the nurses station which is not standard. The call lights didn't work , the mattress didn't fit the bed , the side rails didn't work, the room was dirty , the staff was loud and screaming at night . They made medication errors that were quite serious and if I hadn't been there there would've been a terrible outcome. My mom has been in this facility since October 4, 2021 and I been having so many issues from the staff not paying attention to the patients and even the doctors is nowhere to be found, the social workers to the case manager none of these people care about what is going on and it's a shame that the city allows this type of behavior with the most vulnerable patients that need help and attention, I don't rate this medication facility ever to anyone that there family members would come, it's really sad that they don't care about the patients in need. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. These people are rude and have no compassion. The security guard just walks around on his phone and yells excuse me miss where are you going. We had already checked in and he could clearly see our visitor badge. My daughter and I came to visit our grandmother and they did not let me take my daughter with me. I am not going to leave my underage daughter by herself out side because he wouldn't let anyone stay in the lobby. Why do they have a lobby if you cannot stay there and wait. They did not take care of my grandmother. They would say oh she doesn't want to eat, so they wouldn't leave the food. Like are you kidding me. Why can't they let the family know this. They came to give her medicine and said oh wait someone is calling me I have to go and didn't give her her medicine. You also can never get a hold of a doctor. My grandma could have gone into a comma if we did not complain and have a family member come everyday to check on her. There was a really nice CNA that told me that they were neglecting my grandmother. She had a open sore that needed medication and they wouldn't clean it they would just keep applying the same medication over and over until it was think. The CNA noticed it and told us to complain because it's not right. Don't bring your family here.I am going to report them to the CANHR FOR NEGLIGENCE AND ELDERLY ABUSE!!! read more

My husband was admitted in your hospital until this time. I am very impressed with all the excellent service your staffs does. I'm always in your facility every single day since my husband was admitted. From the security down to the CNA' s , the doctors and PA they've done a great job. I can't thank the staff members of kindred hospital enough for treating my grandmother when she was having trouble breathing and was sent here by another hospital with no treatment or meds. When I saw her at kindred hospital today she was resting comfortably and receiving her meds. I'm forever grateful to their staff for helping her, this is a great hospital as I've been told by many. The receptionist, security, ICU nurses, other department nurses and their aid's, the respiratory department and everyone else is very nice. read more

My family member is a patient at the hospital for about 1 week now. My family member calls me crying because of the lack of compassion displayed by the staff. My family member states when they use the call button it takes staff more than an hour to get to them. My family member has a chest tube, feeding tube and has a trachea. They need suctioning quite often to keep the lungs clear. They can not get out the bed. The patient is waiting to get help and nurses are just standing around doing nothing. Where you can see them doing nothing but laughing and/or on their cell phones. I hate my family member having to be in a place like Kindred Hospital Paramount. Staff talks nice on the phone but for the staff that are on the floor...I can't say much! My family member has called me several times because staff haven't come in the room for hours to assist them. Their insurance chose this place. I'm calling the insurance to let them know don't send patients who want to live to this place! read more

This hospital is horrible. Husband was placed at this facility due to insurance (Kaiser). They did not do the daily physical therapy they promised to do. They did not communicate with me biweekly as they were supposed to do. His cardiologist never called me once in the 8 months my husband was there even when I left messages. The place was dirty. The building and windows were old and cold air seeped between the window sill and old windows. Nurses in ICU were phenomenal but on the floor the service and bedside manner was lacking. Some RTs were good but they were few and far between. Husband would wait more than an hour for nurse or RT to get help. My dear husband died at beginning of April and now the funeral home can't get in contact with the doctor who pronounced him deceased to sign off on his death so the funeral home can't release his body or complete death certificate. My family is continuing to be in turmoil. Security and the ladies working in the lobby were amazing but the important people did not care. I know when insurance companies are involved we often don't have options of where our loved one goes. However, if you have an option, don't believe the pictures or the promises. This is not a facility that believes in getting patients better. This is a facility that houses patients until they die. read more

Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and find any hospital but this one. The fact that this facility is even allowed to be open is a disgrace to all hospitals, nurses and staff. They do not care to actually treat your loved ones. They care about keeping them barely alive just to make money. If they genuinely cared about patients, my MIL will still be here. She wouldn't have been sitting in her own urine and feces for hours at a time. She wouldn't have developed sores and bruises from being strapped down to the beds and not rotated. They wouldn't have kept feeding her Ativan just to keep her quiet. They wouldn't have moved her call button out of reach on the floor. Dr. Rabinowitz even took her off a medication for her heart that was helping her get better. What would make him make that decision?! Our family tried so hard to get her transferred to another facility. The staff at Kindred did nothing to help us with that. When we finally saw a little glimpse of hope, she mysteriously would end up in the ICU, every time. Please do everything possible to never send your loved ones here. We were told by multiple friends who had terrible experiences here to not send her here. Unfortunately this was our only option. read more

I knew my dad was not getting the proper care here. And regretfully I was right. I kept asking his doctor - Dr. Nandin to repeat his brain scans because he was lethargic and kinda hallucinating and he kept saying that's not the biggest concern right now- even though he had cancer and past brain tumors. They blamed his behavior on just being in the hospital for so long. His rehabilitation was not happening like it should have despite all my complaints. They didn't even attempt to get him walking. He went for a tube implementation and rehabilitation after surgery He did in fact have a tumor and it bled in his brain. He wasn't responding to me but they still were giving him a breathing treatment as if nothing was wrong. In their ICU they said he aspirated and he should bounce back like before. They said his hemoglobin was low but the doc didn't think he was bleeding. He was. Come to find out they never even had the equipment to scan his brain which Long Beach memorial even said they would. My dad's been gone for 38 days now. I still haven't cleaned out his closet. Being at Kindred was the worst experience- I truly believe that he would still be here if he hadn't been there. At least his last days wouldn't have been so horrible. They are understaffed. The doctors breeze in and out and there is no communication between staff. It is dirty and run down. read more

If I could give negative reviews I would By far the worst care I have ever seen given to a patient. Left for days without oral hygiene. Dirty sheets condom catheters are left in windows floors nasty not mopped or sanitized IV for patient hung on other patients pole. Patient was never turned so he got bed sores, hasn't been bathed for weeks complaints to the upper Managment fall on a deaf ears. Over crowded rooms, had to climb over extra furniture because they are "remodeling" and don't have anywhere to put it . Running water in only some of the rooms. My sisters husband contracted candida aurs (a highly contagious fungus) while at this facility and by the looks of the sanitation and competency of the staff and facility I can see where he got it from. If you care about your loved ones don't allow them to be mistreated here. My family will be speaking to an attorney this place is a giant Health Care violation read more
