I wanted to share my experience because it was very different from many of the reviews I read here--and I feel it's important to add that perspective. My stay at Kindred Paramount was truly a positive one. I was there primarily for physical therapy and occupational therapy, and both therapy teams were outstanding. They were knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in my recovery. They took the time to meet me where I was, challenge me appropriately, and support my progress every step of the way. In addition, the nurses, CNAs, and doctors were consistently professional, attentive, and kind. I felt respected and cared for throughout my stay. Everyone worked together to make my experience as comfortable and supportive as possible, which made a significant difference during a very vulnerable time. I understand that hospital and rehab experiences can be emotional for patients and families, and that can shape how people leave reviews. But based on my personal experience, the care I received here was compassionate, professional, and centered on my healing. I felt seen, heard, and supported. I am truly grateful to the entire team at Kindred Paramount for the care they provided. My experience was the complete opposite of what many negative reviews describe, and I hope this helps others see a fuller picture when making their decision. read more

Onita Mitchell and Erica deserve five stars, even though unfortunately I cannot give Kindred Hospital Paramount itself five stars. My uncle was transferred to Kindred Paramount from a hospital much farther away when he was 93 years old, and he turned 94 during the more than two months he spent here. From day one, Onita Mitchell made an incredibly difficult experience so much easier for our family. She was consistently kind, accommodating, understanding, and lenient with us throughout his entire stay. When you have a 93/94-year-old family member who is seriously ill for more than two months, there are obviously going to be a lot of emotions, difficult days, changing circumstances, questions, and ups and downs for the entire family. I know that cannot always be easy for hospital staff to deal with, but Onita remained compassionate and consistent with us throughout all of it. Erica was another person who made a genuinely positive difference in our experience and in my uncle's care. There absolutely are good people working at this hospital, and I want to make sure the employees who deserve recognition receive it. Unfortunately, my experience with the facility as a whole was very different, and if I were rating the hospital itself alone, my rating would actually be lower than two stars. There were significant issues during my uncle's stay that prevent me from recommending the facility or giving it a higher rating. However, I also don't think it would be fair for the hospital's shortcomings to erase the exceptional treatment we received from individual employees. People like Onita Mitchell are the reason I am giving Kindred Paramount two stars instead of less. So while this is a two-star review of Kindred Hospital Paramount, please understand that Onita Mitchell deserves five stars and our family's sincere gratitude for everything she did for us throughout more than two very difficult months. read more

I am so upset by the treatment my father received during his stay at Kindred Paramount Long Term Acute Care Hospital. He has since gotten out of this hospital. My dad was sent out for a pacemaker to be placed. Once out I refused to send him back. They tried to get him back, but I refused because he was being warehoused & sedated at Kindred. This is what happened. I Discovered my father's NG tube curled up in the back of his throat, posing a choking/ aspiration risk, I saw two distinct loops of the plastic line curled up in the back of his throat.  He was in a non-responsive state & wasn't able to tell anyone that he had an issue that was causing him discomfort and irritation.  I question why the placement of the tube wasn't checked when it was inserted.   His mouth was raw and red, his lips chapped, his noses was bleeding, no steps were taken to address it. His nasal feeding tube line remained dirty and crusted on the exterior, visible to anyone paying attention who might think "I should clean this" I had to clean his hands because they were dirty (brown, creamy textured substance on his finger tips) as if they weren't addressing Hygiene. When we had him transferred to Torrance Memorial they swabbed him and discovered his upper body was contaminated with yeast, proving that hygiene was neglected. His private area was not infected because they had to clean him when he defecated. His pillow case wasn't changed regularly, I noticed the same stains on his pillow case for a week and a half.  The floor next to the window by his bed was sticky and the suction container on his bedside table was left full with a pink mucous substance, the suction tube wand was tossed on the nightstand in an unhygienic manner.  The night stand was cluttered and littered with medical trash. Overall I had extreme concerns with cleanliness for a hospital and a patient with pneumonia and recovering from sepsis.   2/21 - I discovered a crown on his front tooth was gone. I asked for them to give him something for the pain. They gave him Tylenol.  He expressed issues with pain several times and was given Tylenol. At home he is on Norco, Methadone and Morphine. I told his Nurse that he was on these meds and he said he'd add them to his chart.  He was still given Tylenol. After he was transferred it was discovered he had a 1 inch by 1 inch bedsore with ripping of the skin on his tailbone. I can only imagine his pain and he couldn't communicate it. Over all it's down right neglect not to monitor the patients in your care for bedsores and even worse not to turn them as required to prevent them. We had no Communication with his primary care doctor at Kindred. Messages were left with the Speech Therapist many times as we were trying to get information on his swallow test. We wanted to at least see if he could have ice chips, we never got a return call. It was extremely frustrating because I was told his ability to swallow was tested each day, that wasn't true. I was told by his ICU nurse, on 2/23 that his last swallow test was on 2/9.  Two days after his transfer he was able to stand with the help of his physical therapist and they found he was able to swallow. Due to him not being evaluated daily as we were told he was, he had a stomach feeding tube placed at Kindred because it was easier than working to get him rehabbed. My Father wasn't fully responsive  on admission, Kindred staff assumed this was his base line. I told them it wasn't and I asked for a Neurology consult due to his eyes roaming, curled fore finger and unresponsiveness. Dr. Kennedy was the one I asked about Neurology and he helped.  An EEG was finally done, results never communicated to us.  He was left alone and begging for help. On my daily visits I'd press the call nurse button and it averaged 15 minutes for an answer via the radio.  48 hours after leaving Kindred, my dad was able to eat ice chips and even stood. I'm very upset that he lingered at Kindred for over 20 days due to what feels like warehousing. Upon his transfer out for a procedure at another hospital we were talked to as if it was mandatory for him to return to Kindred due to the Take back agreement, an agreement which wasn't mentioned to or agreed to by us. Please know this agreement amounts to a handshake agreement between hospitals, you do not have to send your loved one back if you can find other placement and if they would be unsafe returning there. read more

Dont take your loved ones here. We visited our father everyday for a month. During his stay, we noticed his urine was black. When we brought it to the facilities attention, all the doctor said was, "hes fine". Um no hes not fibe. Then when the urologist came in and asked about what our concerns were, he asked me a series of questions about my dad. I could only give him answers to the questions i knew the answers to. And this piece of shit closed the curtains in front of me as if to shut me out and blatantly said to the nurse, "get me his chart because his son doesnt care about his fathers well recovery." I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Kindred Hospital. Based on what I witnessed, it felt like business and financial priorities came before quality patient care. There were serious concerns regarding communication, attentiveness, and follow-through with the patient's needs. When you place a loved one in a hospital, you expect the staff and administration to advocate for that patient, respond promptly to concerns, and provide safe, compassionate care. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. There were situations that made me question whether appropriate attention and care were being provided, and our concerns did not seem to be taken with the seriousness they deserved. I would press the call light and no nurse would show up for more than 30 minutes. Families should not have to repeatedly advocate just to make sure basic patient needs are addressed. They were giving him antipsychotic without my consent In my opinion, the level of care we experienced was unacceptable and raised serious concerns about negligence and accountability. Stephanie our casa manager informed us that my father was no longer going to be covered and gave us a last minute notice of him having to be transferred that same day I did not approve of this transfer because the facility was 2hour from our home and informed her didn't not feel it was safe. In her words " you don't have a choice he is a medical patient and can no longer care for him either you accept the transfer or take him home" when paramedics came to transfer I informed them I was not accepting the transfer and in a very rude way Stephanie came and said " so we're rerouting him to your home" this is unacceptable my father is a gtube patient and clearly she should of atleast given me a heads up before his last coverage day so I could have arranged something for him but instead they were just telling me your fine don't worry about it however when medical informed them they would no longer cover they wanted him out that same day. A hospital should never make a family feel that business comes before the well-being, dignity, and safety of its patients. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this facility for a loved one to ask questions, stay involved, document concerns, and advocate closely for the patient. read more

My family member is currently at this facility. Management is dismal, poor communication if any, little responsibility taken. They pass on issues without addressing them. Communication between Dr's and family is weak. Little follow thru on addressing concerns. The nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists all take pride in their work. It must be frustrating to work day in and day out giving 100% and seeing the same issues from a poorly managed facility. I doubt the Dr's and managers would appreciate it if the same level of follow thru and communication were being provided to their Family. Do Better! read more

I am deeply concerned and truly heartbroken over the level of care my dad has received at this care facility. What he has gone through is not just disappointing--it is neglect, and it is completely unacceptable for any place that is trusted to provide safety, dignity, and support. A facility like this should protect its patients not leave families questioning whether their loved ones' basic needs are being met. No family should ever have to worry about whether their parent is being turned, cleaned, fed, checked on, or spoken to with respect. But that is exactly what we have been forced to worry about every day. The lack of proper attention, the failure to respond to his needs, and the disregard for his well-being have created a situation that is both painful and alarming. Out of approximately 20 nurses there was that one that neglected my dad and did not show that he cared my dad was there from March -April 2025 and unfortunately passed away due to his feeding tub not being properly cleaned and not from what he was really admitted for. Hopefully I can share my experience as we go!! So far a great disappointment. Vitals were stable and three days later not looking too good. Diálisis was due day of arrival and promised to us/drs where we were previously and 3 days later hasn't been done. And staff is saying until they can get a Dr to tell them to do it!! So far going on 6 days without it and vitals aren't stable and dropping and no sign of urgency. Accidentally left the review for the O.C. but was THIS facility. Very similar story to Amanda B. Husband stroked 3/28/25 transferred here May'25. Made progress feeding tube came out.. learned to swallow. Therapist here are 10/10. Learned to talk again. He Started standing up strong. Machine assisted of course. Right side stroke. Terrible nurse wait times for ppl on oxygen. That's neglect. Students on recovering basal ganglia stroke patients that have a foggy brain is neglect. Feeding stroke patients inflammatory foods in LARGE servings that cause them to have another stroke is NEGLECT! White mashed potatoes| white MILK! No one to watch recovering stroke patient eat to ensure they dont choke or to clean out their MOUTH AFTER SO THEY DONT CHOKE IN THEIR SLEEP! Fast forward after 2 flipping months of just sitting in a room taking blood pressure medicine & doing speech & PT. I had to work to continue paying for cost of living and down 1 income. So im only there 4p-8p. On 7/3/25 Got a call from advocate Michael was approved to move to the pretty rehab side & the nurse came in i complimented her colorful braids.. her n Michael joked n laughed. We were watching lord of the rings.. laughing at frodo.. he had a 3 servings mash potato meal white milk for dinner too?!! They days i WAS there all day saw milk with all 3 meals!! Told them give him water. Bought him alkaline water on his bedside.. nope.. he wasn't in his new room for 10hrs i left that july 3rd night at 8pm playfully saying see you in the morning. Also reminding the nurse his breathing is off to get his oxygen back on. July 4th i woke up at 5:30a.. on a Friday excited my baby was about to start his next phase of recovery to get home. The visiting started at 7 so i started the grill to have bbq lunch with him. Got a call 1 hr later when i was getting dressed saying he was unresponsive and they doung everything they can. Mind put the needle IV i asked them not to do to prevent vessel collapse they said in an emergency they can save his life possibly TUH.. HE died and I know he choked on his food by the face expression upon his dead face in that room. They dont have enough STAFF to check on critical patients or sit and watch them eat like supposed to! Close thus place if you dont have enough staff. The doctors are creepy as hell too. Like they Organ harvesting!! And I know they are my spirit dont lie! His aunt died here a few years back we were 5 years into our relationship 45yrs young man Dead & everyone is in shock n don't know what happen. I didn't even want to give this place a one star but had to give a star to be able to write my review but If I could give this place a no star I would This place is horrible and needs to be shut down!!!! Do not send your loved ones here Please I lost my brother due to negligence and trust me they will deny it but it's the truth My brother was admitted in the beginning of Nov and passed away early December They failed my brother with the awful care he was receiving and their neglect I had just spoken to my brother's primary Dr and all my brothers labs and number were good and he was getting better but just in a matter of a few hours of speaking to the Dr my brother passed away and they had no knowledge or didn't even understand why he passed, even the Dr was in disbelief All the bad reviews I've been reading here are on point everything from Negligence to the loud and unprofessional staff My brother was always being neglected on being positioned , left dirty for hours and left with lots of secretion from his trek I was hoping to get my brother transferred but unfortunately he passed away before I could transfer him And as far as for you Mr. Matthew (business manager) SHAME ON YOU!!!! You keep saying you are listing to families concerns but have not done nothing about it because families keep losing loved ones and keep having the same concerns about the facility and the staff Do something!!!! This place is kind of old and outdated, but the staff is top notch and that kind of makes up for it. My aunt was here for 10 days due to some health issues, and I have to say that everyone caring for her was just so extremely kind and attentive. The worst hospital experience I have ever witnessed. My father has been admitted at Kindred Hospital in Paramount since October 10, 2025, and the level of care here has been absolutely unacceptable. From day one, the nurses have constantly refused to help when he needs assistance. My father is bedridden, yet nurses have refused to help him use the restroom, telling us things like "I'm not a CNA." He has been left waiting over 30 minutes for help, even after repeatedly pressing the call button. There have been several terrifying incidents where my father almost choked on his own saliva because the nurses were "too busy" to come in and suction him. When we've gone to the nurses' station to ask for help, some staff have said, "He's not my patient," and still refused to assist. We have spoken with hospital management multiple times, but nothing has improved. The attitude and lack of compassion from several nurses make it feel like my father is an inconvenience rather than a patient deserving care. This is blatant neglect and a serious health risk. No family should have to beg for basic care for their loved one. I truly hope this hospital undergoes a full investigation and retrains or replaces its staff -- no patient deserves to be treated this way. PS if I can rate it a negative 5 stars I would. read more

I have no words to describe the lack of care and compassion this hospital has gave my father, the hospital looks run down and filthy, the nurses need to all be retrained and taught to do their actual job instead of just standing in the nurse station speaking extremely vulgar and of unnecessary conversations. Leaving the hospital today I heard another patients family complaining about waiting for 30 minutes to speak to their family members nurse as well. My father fears for his life with no exaggeration because of the things he's endured while staying there. From having to use the restroom and being told to hold it in, to his tranq falling out and calling for over two hours to get it fixed and then almost choking under their care because they carelessly forget to suction him and if he calls no one shows. We can't wait to get him out of the hospital and back at home because this place needs to be reevaluated or take their licenses to practice away. No one deserves that type of treatment. read more

My father was recently transferred here from a nearby hospital and died within 24 hours of arrival. I still do not understand why he was transferred in the first place, from LB Memorial ICU to Kindred ICU. I got a call on a Friday from Kindred stating he was being transferred there later in the day. After not hearing anything all day, I called Kindred around 8pm, provided his name and was told he was not a patient. The woman advised me to contact Memorial and then to call her back. She was not very warm and didn't offer to call me when he arrived. I figured someone would call me when he did arrive. No phone call. Next morning at 6am I receive a message, in broken English from Kindred to call, he was not doing so well. I immediately called back to speak with someone who once again had broken English, they felt my frustration and put someone else on. My dad was coding and not expected to make it. He passed an hour later at 7am. That was my short yet horrible experience with Kindred. read more

I had a family friend who was transferred here and he ended up passing away. It was very strange because he was doing better everything was coming around and then he got transferred here. They say they check on their patients and they don't even when you ask repeatedly. They just leave their patients that are incapacitated without meds hunched over not moved no one's checking on them. My family friend was there no longer than 3 weeks and everything was declining. The lack of care he was receiving, the wrong medication or no medication, no nurses that actually care to do their job. These patients are here and they can't speak for themselves this place knows that and think they can slack off and get away with it. The lack of attention and poor health care here is astonishing. Do not send anyone you care about to this place, the nurses do not check on their patients, they do not care about the people there. Trust me find a better place and do good research I wish we did we never would have transferred him here. read more

My husband died at Kindred and I don't want another family to go through what I went through. He was in the hospital for 6 weeks being treated for fungal brain infection/stroke/hydrocephalus. He was transferred to Kindred because doctors said he needed longer term medical care as he was still medically unstable. He was only there for 11 days and died. Staff said he became "unresponsive"-- they don't even know how he died- said it was the fungal brain infection even though tests show that he was responding to treatment. When I arrived at the facility once they had told me my husband had coded- their nursing staff turned and stared at me- only said something when I asked if he was okay. They said that "he did not make it". Not one single staff person offered their condolences to me after delivering the worse news of my life. NOT ONE PERSON. Nursing staff is grossly ill prepared to treat these medical complexities. They have LVN's who are just out of nursing school and have no experience treating patients. They are very passive in their treatment- don't do anything unless there's a change- but even if there is a change they still don't do anything. My husband became nauseous so they just let him stop eating- he had lost 50 pounds over the course of the 6 weeks- did nothing to address nauseous and let him starve. On several occasions fed him meat even though I told countless staff that he was vegetarian. Staff didn't follow feeding protocols that speech therapy put together for aspirating risk. I didn't even get a change to contact the patient advocate because speech had just given me the information the day that he died. In the 11 days my husband was there I did not speak to a doctor ONCE-- and he was mentally altered and unable to make decisions for himself. My husband was assigned to several specialists and I did not speak to one of them- I don't even know if anyone of them came and actually assessed him. Communication between doctors and families is abysmal. Please do not let your loved one come to Kindred Hospital if they are medically complex. I read similar reviews where families said their loved one died at Kindred and I thought they were just a grieving family member, but now given my own experience I want to warn other families. I am not just grieving and I wish I had known so I could have done something different. The funeral director we worked with said that she's also heard terrible things about Kindred as well as the person who does the private autopsies. In regard to their rehab staff specifically- speech and physical therapy - they were amazing in their care for my husband. So, If your loved one is there for rehab services then they are in good hands. One of the CNA's/wound care specialist, Alexis, was also amazing, compassionate, and proactive in her care for my husband and I appreciate that so much. read more

This is a long review but please take the time to read it before sending your loved ones here. This facility has shown me that many people just go into the medical profession for a paycheck rather than an actual desire and passion for helping people. I have many complaints for how my loved one was treated here. My mom was on a vital medication prescribed by a usc cardiology specialist, and was told she needed to be on it for the rest of her life. As soon as she was transferred here they took her off of it without consulting her family or any previous physicians, and her condition immediately took a turn for the worst. Everytime I visited here I felt diresrespected by staff from varying departments, from the security guards and receptionists and even the nurses unfortunately. I understand the pandemic has put pressure on facilities like this but that still does not give them the right to get away with the level of neglect i witnessed towards my mom and other patients here, as well as families visiting. On multiple occasions while visiting, id arrive to my moms room and see that her call light was on and had been on for a long time. I would have to walk to the nurses station multiple times to complain that they were ignoring her while she was in pain, sitting in her urine or feces, or experiencing other issues. The halls and rooms were dirty, the staff was unresponsive and dismissive of my mothers issues, and many other patients. Just while walking through the halls I could see many patients in pain or experiencing other issues that were calling out for a nurse or multiple call lights would be on and visible throughout the entire hallway while nurses would be loudly sitting and gossiping for relaxing with other staff members. I tended to give the staff the benefit of the doubt at first, and believed they were understaffed or overwhelmed but after months of my mother being there and constantly complaining to nurses, doctors, floor supervisors, and caseworker nothing changed. In light of all the mistreatment, my family tried to transfer her to another facility and every step of the way, kindred put up road blocks for us or did not assist us with transferring her. I could go on and on about so many little things here that angered and upset me from the start but ultimately they led to my moms passing which I believe was 100% preventable. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. read more

DO NOT LET THIS HOSPITAL SERVICE YOUR LOVED ONES!!! I am not going to sugarcoat this review. My daughter's stay at this facility was abysmal. From her intake to the day I hired a private ambulance to remove her AMA (and at considerable expense, I might add!!), she was never in a caring environment and actually lost more than she gained. She was a trach patient and was transferred to Kindred Paramount to be weaned off the trach. She went in being able to breathe on her own for 45 minutes, and left being so afraid of dying that it's unclear how or when we will be able to restore normal functions. That's how badly her care was. Don't be taken in by their online videos. LIES, LIES, AND MORE LIES. The nurses were absolutely awful, and the place was filthy. In fact, there was one point during my daughter's stay where I noticed some discarded medical detritus under her bed along with stains from who knows how long ago. The detritus and the stains were still there a weeks later. (Unfortunately, the lack of cleanliness was just symptomatic of the level of care.) At one point during our stay, I was trying to track down a nurse to give my daughter some much needed help. I walked up and down the corridor and every room had a respiratory alarm going off. There wasn't a nurse in sight!!! Our problems with Kindred Paramount were many. They tried to give my kid meds for high blood pressure (she does not have high blood pressure); the meds she was supposed to receive weren't carried by their pharmacy and no one bothered to inform anyone that can do anything about it; she was rarely, if ever, turned resulting in some very troublesome and painful bed sores; she caught pneumonia, which affected her ability to breathe and when she complained about said breathing difficulty, they told her she was just experiencing anxiety. (She ended up in the ICU.) With all of the above, the biggest problem I had with Kindred Paramount was the lie they put into the hospital record. My daughter was put on a voice box (I'm not sure what the medical term is) and for whatever reason, she was not taken off of it for an entire day and night, and into the afternoon of the next day. The lie they put into the hospital record was that my daughter requested to remain on the voice box. She did not! No one, not one single person came to check on her the entire night!! Not only was this the jumping off point for the pneumonia, that was it for me. I moved heck and high water to get my daughter out of this place. It took some time because admin, mostly the case manager, was incredibly unhelpful and she too, LIED!! I ended up removing my daughter against medical advice (AMA) and paid thousands of dollars to a private ambulance company to break her out. (NOTE: "Breaking her out" is not a euphemism. This wretched placed did all it could to keep me from getting my daughter out!) I would like to point out that the CNA's (Jimmy, Mary, and Mika) were great and I hate to think how much more worse our stay would have been without them. Also, had Patricia, the RT we worked with on our last day, been our RT for any days prior, who knows if the outcome would be different. There are some good people here. The really bad ones almost killed my child. For the record, I would caution anyone who thinks these positive reviews are real. While what I have depicted is very true as to what my daughter experienced, I was in that hospital almost daily for three weeks and I saw the neglect of others!!!!! read more

I want to write my experience with my grandma in that terrible place. My grandma she just stayed 2 days and she decline bad there, first they changed the medication, she ha a stomach infection. Is a place of convalescence and the doctor in the hospital before he said really good things about this place, rehabilitation, good environment, nice hospital rooms, nothing is true. The staff are very rude and nurses got mad anytime when we ask for something. She was alone 2 nights and my grandma she said they never back or help he to move her in the bed. My relative signed to release my grandma ASAP and they dont want it (of course they were losing a "patient" basically losing the medical money. They don't care about the patients specially are old and they already want them to die. Other situation, was they dont let stay a family member there in the night, my grandma needed help and they said NO allowed nobody, for us it was very bad because nobody helped her. When she was released we asked for a wheelchair and they said no, shes 91 years old and I said how we supposed to get her out of her? and they said you have to figure out, dragging her we don't know. Is totally insane this place, we have a lot of stress and my grandma was traumatized. I just want to share this to the people are in hospitals and try to convinced them to transfer to that place DONT GO there and I want to warn to all the community is very bad place. Brenda read more

My mom was here last September 2023 for 3 weeks for cases of cancer as well as breathing issues from little company Mary Torrance. This place let's start with has nurses playing in the hallways and at nurses stations, as well as rude as fuck. They swear like they don't understand you and nobody knows shit. My mom went in there with a cell phone which came up missing and never got found which I know a nurse probably took it second of all her I love Lucy book from Barnes and noble was taken shortly after. Then my sister bought hair stuff for our mom and we come to find out the nurse was using it. So to the main part towards the end we mentioned to not have surgeries die to how frail my mom was to the point one day they just put her in icu where no one was told till we arrived there communication initially off to the point they do what they want like there the persons family. We specifically told them to now or try not to use oxygen mask and only with our concent to were they did it anyways. Something told me a couple days later to go early as she was in icu and visit I got no call nothing as I walk in and go to the room my mother is laying there and the nurse walks in 5-10 mins later and tells me my mom has passed and the machine is just finishing.... My head spun and I ran out! This is bull shit look at all these stories that are similar and why all 3 weeks span. Please do not let your loved ones go here they will have a 3 week span. read more

Not very compassionate to our family during our time of grieving. My dad was not even here a day and passed away after being transferred from Memorial Hospital. Instead of giving my sister and I time to process his death, they called her on the same day after revealing what had happened. My sister called today about the cremation and was told that's good because they need the space in the morgue. Some phone call interactions with Kindred were not good because they had to transfer her to someone who could speak English well. I don't understand the need from Memorial and Kindred to have him moved. The first time they attempted to move him, his heart gave out. Memorial did not keep him long and sent him to Kindred the very next day. Kindred did not even give us time to come together as a family and see him. The nurse left out that there was only a 4 hour window to see his body. I live further away so this was out of the question. So sad. read more

This review if for what I noticed and had to deal with during my dads time here. My dad was sent here because of gastrointestinal issues and they performed tests, ultrasounds and X-rays with no conclusion. They put him on a liquid diet and sent him back to his nursing home, 1 month later he is back at this Hospital. Kindred supposedly ran the same battery of tests but found nothing yet again but my dad was in pain. So when I inquired about his PCP I was told by staff that his doctor hasn't been around to see him after 4 days at the facility. When I spoke to the case manager and social worker I was told that doctors have weird schedules and sometimes ply show up in the middle of the night that's why staff and patients families never see them. Two days later there's plenty of activity in my dads care, after I threatened to remove him from the facility and file a complaint, and they finally found what was wrong with him. While visiting I ran into his NEW gastrointestinal doctor that was brought in to consult and asked about his PCP and not even that doctor has met him. My dad was connected to Ivs, faecal collector and a NG tube to relieve symptoms. We were told my dad crashed and wasn't able to breathe and was running a high fever. This was during Covid-19 spreading. We asked about whether he was tested and they said he had not because his symptoms were due to an infection, we were never told what kind. Fast forward to a week by this time they had shutdown the hospital to visitors and we couldn't visit him. My dad passed away. We were allowed to go into the facility to sign papers and spend a few hours with him before they took him to the in house morgue. When we asked his nurse what happened we were told that my dad was having trouble breathing and when they called a "code blue" he had crashed again but this time didn't make it. I asked to talk to the doctor that performed resuscitation procedures and the doctor told us that the nurse stated to him that when he went to check on my dad he had no pulse (but didn't mention the respiratory issues) and called for the code, so there wasn't an agreement on what happened when I told the doctor what the nurse told me he said "well that's what I was told if he did something before I wasn't around to know if he did". This place still had the syringes used on my dad and face masks and wrappers of sterile tools used under my dads bed. And to top it off when they were preparing to transfer him to a gurney to be sent to the morgue they had Security staff helping with my dads body, 2 nurses and a Security Guard were prepping him. I've never seen a Security Guard performing medical services. As of today we still haven't received his medical report on his care and treatments performed and we don't even know if he might of passed away from Covid. read more

Kindred Hospital Paramount - Call buttons put on the floor so my mom couldn't call for help. - Hospitals Near Me - Paramount, California

This hospital was pushed on us because Kaiser didn't want to pay for my father to stay at hospital. My dad had a lung disease and was in a very fragile situation, before coming we took a tour since Kara kindred nurse liaison promised everything would be fine and that she would make sure the ceo form this location would know to not room my father with more than one person and to be carful who he is roomed with since he had worked so hard getting off ventilator and wanted to walk 1,000 feet and gain weight to get on the lung transplant list. We were even promised a speech therapist or ent would help him reach his goals. In the beginning they room my dad by him self and all was fine , we never met the doctor or even pulmonary doctor he was assigned that Kara recommended and said we were Able to choose from options see sent and never received an update either, after a day or 2 I had to reach to Kara to let her know that they started rooming more patients in his room and she was able to handle it , but from there it went down hill . They switch my dads room to a room where the air conditioning wasn't working and put him in a room with patients that had infections, the only reason my mom knew is because the cleaning lady asked why did they move your husband to the infection side. My mom got worried and than asked the nurse and she disappeared and never came back. Than again my mom asked another nurse since now they are putting protection gowns and said we are just doing for precautions and they weren't doing that when he was in the other room by himself. Few days later I noticed a change in my dads breathing and I have to ask for them to do an X-ray and already Kaiser was pushing him out and they used Gracie the case worker to do it. Gracie obviously didn't care that if I didn't ask for an X-ray that they wouldn't have caught the pneumonia and also told her about The a/c not working but was calling like crazy to get my dad out of there. They started antibiotics for pneumonia and still wanted to get him out and ended up sending him to a nursing home without proper treatment before they sent him off. It felt the moment I started speaking up and complaining of the lack there. And they kept rooming more people with my father and I tried to reach to kara and she didn't want to help anymore , she just stopped texting us knowing how disappointed were. Same with onita patient advocate I told her about sir conditioning and that they were trying to discharge my dad when they found pneumonia and asked if they could send last X-ray they did before he left to nursing place so they can continue to finish the treatment he was on for the pneumonia. Once he got the nursing facility he was already throwing up and was nauseous for days and the nursing facility said that they still haven't received X-rays or details about my dad's pneumonia. Left kindred 09/14 Thursday,Well in the end Tuesday sep 19th he went back to the nearest hospital from nursing home and went back to Kaiser on bi pap machine with pneumonia, sepsis and aspiration from the nausea and vomit to his lungs . And than 09/22 was intubated after all the hard work he did fighting to get on the transplant list for his lungs. Onita , Gracie , Kara knew the plans and the nightmare we had through before we got kindred to continue his healing process and the goals. Also this is with us being there imagine if we weren't advocating and the worst thing of all is my dads body couldn't take it anymore and passed away 09/26/23. My father had a fighting chance and had an appointment with lung transplant doctor to show the progress he made and because of the negligence he lost his chance to live. I would like to give a huge shout out to Todd the pt guy that worked with my dad and all pt they really were the best thing about this place. Also Pam would clean my dad up so nicely and shave my dads face and my dad was super happy with her. There was some okay nurses and some I couldn't even understand. The rt seemed okay too. But honestly be carful placing your loved one with a serious condition. Those nice reviews are from students not from real people that stay there . Because Onita asks for nice reviews and to give a shout out. Well here is my honest review onita. I tried calling and leaving a message for you and you all failed my dad. One day all the people that I named that failed us will be failed one day in there life and they will know the pain I am feeling. My dad was my best friend and he fought so hard. Even the pt (Todd)guy said my dad would be able to do his 1,000 steps and was so kind to my dad. Thank you Todd for trying and Pam. But everyone else failed us horribly. Patient was Luis Villanueva and I saw that they made him write a review too but I know my dad was referring to pt, rt & nurses. They neglected my poor grandpa. He passed away here after 3 weeks of care and he had a bed sore !!! His oxygen mask was never put on properly. We are suing this place. A change needs to be made here. read more

My dad spent ~2 weeks at Kindred Paramount, after being discharged from Little Co Mary San Pedro. We were very hesitant to have him go to an LTACH because of the unknown. We were put in touch with Kamilah at Kindred to discuss options and what the level of care was like. She was patient and helped talk through all of our questions and concerns, and encouraged us to visit multiple other facilities (including Kindred South Bay). In the end, we selected Paramount and glad we did. An LTACH is not an ICU or a level-1 trauma acute hospital, so you're not going to get the full level of staffing coverage as those facilities. However, the staff (nurses and therapists) were all very attentive, helpful and caring. If possible, I highly encourage family members to spend as much time at the hospital to advocate for your loved one by asking questions and making reasonable requests of the staff. They're likely to oblige. Seeing a doctor face to face was a challenge since they round at different times; the nurses were often able to get a hold of them via phone or text to get a hold of them. The team was appropriately aggressive to get my dad off of his trache and to remove as many unnecessary lines as possible. The physical, occupational and speech therapists were excellent. They care and they push the patient towards recovery. The previous hospitals were conservative when it came to working with my dad, but the therapists at Kindred pushed harder (which was great). Hospitals aren't pleasant, but Kindred Paramount helped make the best out of a challenging situation. Side note: The staff helped get him admitted to the newly built Acute Rehab Unit in a separate wing of the same building. Everything is brand new here. I'll review it after his time there is complete. read more
