I had a great experience with Kinetic Energy. I called because I was experiencing a "partial outage". Daniela very kindly explained why it might be an electric company issue and suggested that I call KE after ascertaining that it's an electric company issue. After finally speaking directly with the electric company and requesting an outage report, the electric company recommended that I call KE "just in case". I accidentally checked the box for "find similar estimates" on yelp when I tried to contact these guys so I ended up with like 10 estimates. Some of them were 3 times the price. Some of them said "no you can't do that". They were wrong. The folks at kinetic know the local codes. They dealt with the permits and the village and were even willing to chase down comed if needed which wasn't necessary. There were 3 ways to solve my ev needs and theirs was the quickest, lowest price, and most efficient for my location. I am going to make this as short as possible without skimping on the important details. Purchased a home in Forest Park which required some outdoor electrical work to be completed to be in compliance with the Village Inspector's requirements. It is my understanding that this is very basic work and most older homes in the Village require this work upon sale. Hired Kinetic based on recommendation from my agent and Yelp/Facebook/Nextdoor reviews. The prior owner received a quote of $1200 for the work from another company - I sent that estimate to Kinetic and asked if they could match it. They sent out someone to take a look and afterwards quoted me at $1400 via email. I agreed to the $1400 (also via email) as the company was so highly rated and I wanted it to be done correctly. Sequence of events: 1. Work was performed - required the power to be out from 8am to around 5pm on a weekday. 2. Village inspector and Kinetic rep returned to do the post-work inspection. The work failed inspection. I'm not exactly sure how you fail inspection on a routine job. 3. They came back on a Saturday morning to correct the work. Re-inspection occurred 4 days later and it passed. I was told more than once that they would be reducing the bill due to my pain and suffering - having failed inspection and because we had to have our power out for another 3 hours to have the issue corrected. At this point I was still considering a 3/5 review as the rep was very apologetic about this whole mess and came out on a weekend as we are WFH during the week and need power. 4. Received the invoice totaling $1712 due after a $250 "pain and suffering discount". Emailed them back as I'm not sure how $1400 became $1,962 when it was supposed to be less than the original estimate for my trouble. They said they had a conversation with my husband about additional charges? No way in hell that happened. Nonetheless, they said it happened when the in person estimate was made. However, we received the written estimate for $1400 after the in person estimate. Anything that was (or wasn't) discussed should have been reflected in the written estimate. 5. They agreed to $1400 to "put this job behind us" and we paid it so I could be done with the mess as well. I have all of this in writing and I keep meticulous notes on anything that I pay for. I didn't even want to waste any more keystrokes on this, but since I hired them partially based on Yelp reviews, I felt that I needed to share my experience. I am giving them 2 stars only because everyone was pretty pleasant. Just wish it would have turned out better. They also drilled a large screw through my newly-finished porch. No warning on that. Fantastic experience with Kinetic Energy. I have a old fixture that the transformer died on. The mfg. was no longer in business and the part was unavailable through their normal distributors. The were able to find the part on eBay and were able to make the repair. They were able to carefully fix or enhance the electrical jobs we requested and do so swiftly. Kinetic offers competitive prices and are quick to schedule appointments to get the work completed. In my opinion, perhaps the best thing about Kinetic is the electricians who work there are all super professional and personable so if you're interested in discussing the technicalities of their work - like what caused the problem, how it was fixed, etc. - they're happy to talk about it. Of course, the electricians there are super knowledgeable too - it's a prime example of a company's best asset being their employees. We went with Kinetic for a fairly large project of updating our electrical service and adding a hot tub hookup. They are an excellent company to work with- from the quote to consultation and the project and inspection was fantastic. The communication was always quick and responsive, friendly and professional. When our hot tub was ready for hookup, they were speedy in scheduling the hookup and got it up and running right away. We are pleased with the entire project from beginning to end. I think a true testament to a company is how well they handle when things don't go quite right. When someone on our project accidentally knocked off our security camera and caused some damage, they communicated about the accident right away and immediately got us a replacement, which they hand delivered right when it arrived. I recently purchased a house and needed to do a few repairs to the electrical system to get it up to code. Ted from Kinetic came out to do an inspection and provide an initial estimate. He was very friendly, thorough and talked through several repair options to fit within my budget constraints. Specifically, I had to have an old electical panel removed, my meter moved, and the system correctly grounded and bonded to the water line. I would give Dan from Kinetic Energy 5 stars but the business as a whole 3-4 stars. Dan was a pleasure to work with. He is extremely efficient and his work is very clean and presentable. I was not too impressed with the proposal process. Multiple items were missed resulting in our house not passing the city building inspection. It will cost an extra $1,500 more then initially quoted (I didn't know this till the 1st job was completed and the city said we didn't pass inspection). It was not a pleasant surprise when when you have already spent thousands. Just be aware the price on the proposal might not be all you have to pay. read more

I set up an appointment to have someone come out and look at a crackling noise in a light switch. I then googled the symptoms and found out that I just need to replace the switch. I called Kinetic back and canceled my appointment. They called me back 20 seconds later and gave me a helpful tip on how to install the switch.
