I consider myself a massage therapist expert, and Erin is the best one I have ever had. Period. I am a long-distance runner who runs an insane amount of miles a year. I average 5-6 marathon races a year plus a couple of ultras. Of course, that takes a toll and I need my "fix" every now and then. I had seen dozens of therapists before I came across Erin in Los Gatos 3 years ago and I became hooked to her massage. She takes the time to listen and understand what's wrong, and then she works her magic. She's the only therapist that has been able to work on some of my issues around the psoas muscle or hip flexors. During the sessions, not only she works on problematic areas, but also helps train stretches and movements that can help if continued at home. The only downside of her becoming so popular when she was in the Los Gatos studio was that it soon became very hard to get an appointment with her given how busy she was. I am happy to see that she has now started her own practice and I don't mind driving 30 minutes to get my favorite massage. I am sure she will become highly popular as soon as more people in Santa Cruz find out about her. It will make my scheduling a bit more tricky, but I am more than happy to pay that price. I've been a happy client for over a year, and book my appointments out months in advance just to make sure I dont miss a session. I originally found Kinetic Health on a yelp search, after a nagging soccer/running injury I had been fighting for months finally got the best of me. At my first visit, Matt greeted me warmly at the front, immediately making me feel welcome. Erin did the same, taking her time with my initial assessment, asking individualized questions to really get to know my body and my concerns. I am a Family Medicine PA, and having previously worked in collegiate sports medicine, I'm very particular about who I see for body work. Let me tell you, Erin REALLY knows her stuff. I had shoulder surgery March 18th 2019. It was pretty extensive. I had to have my supraspinatus tendon reattached to the bone as well as my bicep tendon and another small tear fixed. I had some arthritis cleaned up and also full joint manipulation done while I was under to free up the frozen shoulder that had developed after my injury. Dr. Reynolds did a great job but I have to say that this was probably the hardest thing I have ever dealt with physically. I'm 60 years old and am an active person and I was afraid I would never be the same. I have a few good friends who are also active and dealing with different injuries that see Erin on a regular basis. They recommend that I see Erin. I saw her a couple of time pre surgery and started seeing her post surgery along with physical therapy I am happy to report that with her help I was paddling an SUP in just over three months. I have continued to see her and I have back surfing and working as a carpenter for almost 7 months now. It's been almost a year and my shoulder is better than ever! I have full range of motion and no pain. Without the work of Erin I wouldn't be where I'm at now in the healing process. I continue to see Erin on a monthly bases but now she is helping me with my low back, neck , my hip and even on my knee. I don't if I am able I expressed the depth of Erin's healing abilities adequately - I've suffered for years from shoulder pain and have spent numerous visits with a physical therapist, where there was some improvement, but just one visit with Erin where she focused on my shoulder and I am feeling better than I have in years. In the course of my massage Erin mentioned pelvic alignment, she talk about how it often made breathing easier, I suggest if she had a time (which she made for me) to do her magic. And magic it is... for the first time in as long as I can remember I am able to take a full deep breathe. I just assume my breathing was shallow from the previous bad habit of smoking but apparently it was the alignment of my pelvic?!? I have seen a lot of massage therapists over the years because I experience muscle cramping and chronic pain due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (joint hyper-mobility.) Erin is the first therapist I have found who is really an expert on this disorder and her treatments relieve my pain without unraveling me. Erin is very intuitive about what's hurting and knows exactly the right amount to treat it without going to far (with EDS, I risk having my muscles panic and cramp up more with massages that are too aggressive.)
