Fast forward two years into the purchase of our house in Potomac where septic is the norm, we had toilets back up even after snaking it twice in 2 weeks. I was literally having plumbing nightmares at night. We didn't know it yet, but it turned out there were 3 sections of broken pipe. All my tennis buddies knew I was running home to deal with my still-clogged plumbing system after practice for several weeks. Initially, we had a plumbing company replace the section closest to the house, and it still wasn't working. Then King & Sons diagnosed the other two sections with a nifty camera that showed where the collapsed portions were down to the feet. I found the whole process so fun to watch (not something I thought I'd ever say). Anyway, they got us scheduled and came and patched up the pipe the following week. The pipe was completely collapsed and crumbled like a cookie. They have their own excavator (also looked like fun) and did the work in one morning. Gary, his son, and nephew were all out here at some point. All super professional and patient in explaining to us what we're looking at (bc it's kind of like at the doctor when they show u scans and it's like I have no idea what this is) and what the next steps will be. Considering the urgent nature of septic issues, they were very reasonable in their pricing. We'll be recommending them to everyone. read more

Our wastewater was backing up. I suspected a full septic tank but was wrong. With same day service King cleared an obstructed household waste line and pumped septic tank too! Total bill was a bit over $600. Not IMO expensive for three people, two trucks, equipment and time to ensure the job was done right. A family business. King family members as technicians were professional in manner and appearance. Communication with them about job details was excellent. King and Sons is one of the best in the business. My husband and I have used them for years. Good honest hard working family. Gary and his wife Michelle are absolutely amazing people! I called them one time thinking it was time to my pump my septic, when they came out and looked at it they were so honest and told me that I didn't need it. They didn't ask for any payment, weren't trying to sell me something I didn't need, and I couldn't respect them more for such honesty. Another time I had a clog in the septic field line and anyone who has experienced this will tell you that it can be very costly. Gary being the great guy and owner that he is, helped find and resolve my issue and it didn't cost me an arm or leg and my issue was resolved quickly. The young man who came out to our home was third generation and it showed! Extraordinarily knowledgeable -- when others tried and failed to find our never-before-serviced 60 year old system, he did so quickly and without a "flushable probe" simply by applying his experience and know-how. We live in an older home and had bought it as is-without knowing where the septic was located. Recently, we had an issue so we called another local septic company who came out and could not locate our septic tank. They refused to go beyond a certain point in our yard, saying there was no way it would be beyond that point. They came twice in two days to search for it, using only the pole method. I asked them again to search further out, and they just kept saying it wouldn't be back there. They eventually gave up and left. We had no plumbing during this time. I called King & Son (recommended by friends who I was describing our situation to) and they came out the next day. Gary King and his son spent hours dedicated to finding the tank, by many methods-including flushing a tracker (which unfortunately got stuck at the leak location), using coat hangers to sense where water was located, and most importantly-asking if the house had ever been on well water. I didn't know that it had, but I called my husband who said that it was once located in our basement and had been closed in. With this information, Gary explained that the septic would have to be a certain distance from the old well location. Of course, that location placed it beyond the point where the previous company refused to search. After a little more searching, they discovered the septic tank, drained it, and dug up the pipe to replace the leak that a tree root had caused. They were extremely friendly, dedicated, professional and very reasonably priced. I will use them for all future needs and recommend them to anyone! read more

These folks serviced my house several times (I have receipts dating back 10+ years) for the prior owner and once for me in 2013. I made an appointment 2 weeks in advance and they cancelled 11 hours before they were scheduled to arrive. They have decided they no longer service my area and suggest I call someone else. Their business, their choice (:shrug:) but inconsiderate does not even begin to cover it. I suppose I should be grateful they called to tell me instead of letting me wait all day, but it was way too late to pick up the shift at work I gave away. I specifically chose to continue with this company when I purchased the home because they were family owned and operated and I work for a family owned and operated company. I believe in customer loyalty. Oh, well, nothing like feeling slapped in the face. I'll take my loyalty elsewhere as they recommended. They clearly don't need my money, I'm sure they don't need yours either. read more
