One of the coolest toy stores I've been to in the Cincinnati area. Service was great and our items were hand wrapped for free. Items were unique and cheap. This is the most magically themed toy store I've ever set my eyes on! They have a wonderful selection of every type of toy you could imagine. There are arts/crafts, books, stuffies, Lego, Playmobil, trains/transportation, Schleich figures, Safari ltd., dramatic play items, gross motor toys, the list goes on... The store is clean, bright and joyful for children and grown-ups. They offer kids freshly popped popcorn for free and there's a complimentary coffee station for the adults. Plenty of areas throughout the store for little ones to play or test out toys. In "the Dungeon" there's a huge gross-motor area for kids to get their wiggles out and even an archery station. We used to live in this area, and we used to bring our toddler here. We stopped by when we were visiting and they have made this toy store even more awesome! There is such a great variety of toys. There are so many play areas for kids, and it is a happy chaos. The dungeon has fun places for kids to play like a little tykes playground, a zip line, a netted tunnel and bridge, archery, and other climbing equipment. My kids were thrilled with the Lego variety. This is every kid (and adult's) dream toy store. Play before buying is encouraged and the staff is phenomenal. I love that I could see how my child was interacting with all the toys before I purchased anything. They have the coolest setup for your child's birthday where they can get the key to open Artie's castle. At the top of the castle, they'll give your child a Tshirt and stuffed animal (and will wrap anything you bought for your child to open there). In addition, they have a dungeon area in the basement where kids can play, climb, swing, etc. This place is a gem in Cincinnati and would highly recommend visiting and supporting them! read more

Toy stores are hard to come by these days... we are from the area and I remember getting toys from here when I was a kid! This stop was to pick up a few gifts for my works giving tree project. This place is packed with everything a kid could dream or want. Definitely a good stop to make with the holiday season rapidly approaching. Staff was friendly and even offered to wrap the gifts at no cost! If you have kiddos of your own they even have a play room downstairs and very neat displays that I'm sure would capture their eye. Man, this store is tops. Every time we go in, it's changed around and there are new areas to explore. The kids play spot in the basement is super fun, with a zip line and hanging tents, a slide and lots of climbing structures. Been driving past King Arthur's Court Toys for years now and have always wanted to stop in. I finally did a couple weeks ago right before Christmas. There is something pretty special about this place. It's definitely an old school toy store. No video games..limited electronics..mostly old school traditional toys and games. They have a lot. A lot of the stuff here had those "oh my god I forgot all about those" feels attached to them. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs to buy a toy for a kid that may be a little too tech savvy for their own good. Show them what toys and gadgets used to be like. Not only can the kiddos try different toys out around the store but they have the cutest play area in the basement called "the dungeon." I'm almost thirty, but this store makes me feel like a three year old on Christmas Day. The store is spacious, clean, and well-organized, an amazing contrast to the chaos of Toys R Us or Wal-Mart. Many of the toys are made by respected manufacturers like HABA, Plan Toys, Playmobil, and others that have remained unscathed by the toxic toy controversy. We were greeted quickly by a smiling salesperson. When I asked her if she knew where a wooden tool bench was made, she was quickly able to tell me that while it was made in China it was produced by a firm that had exceeded standards on a number of regulatory criteria. Next when I asked if she the story carried Plan Toys (a wonderful eco-friendly toy company with strong manufacturing standards and ethical business practices), she knew right away where the products were located throughout the store. Wow, I was impressed! It's hard to find a salesperson at other chain toy stores, let alone someone this knowledgeable. The coolest toy I saw was a wooden sushi slicing kit by Melissa & Doug. This hip kit was complete with pretend versions of chopsticks, wasabi, ginger, soy sauce dish, and Spicy Tuna and California rolls. A must have for any jet-setting kindergartener! read more

My kids pretty much think this place is heaven. Between the many toys to explore, the stage and costumes for producing one's own play, free popcorn, and huge basement play area (including reading pods and a zip line), maybe it is. And for parents? They have that covered too. Comfy couches next to a (free) coffee station upstairs and more couches downstairs while the kids play make it an enjoyable experience for all! I always go in resolved not to spend too much but that flies out the window quickly. They have the best assortment of classic kids toys and books and puzzles! The reason for the 2 stars is because of a bad customer experience with an employee at Kings Arthur's Court. The second reason is because when I notified via email, I did not expect the manager (girl that was giving the poor customer service) to give back a shotty, non-sincere apology for her actions. I wanted this email to go to the owner, or the one who cuts the pay checks to the employee's. This started because my wife had a question about a particular toy, or rather a change to the same 'toy'. The girl/manager had no tact when trying to answer a question for my wife and she came off like my wife was an idiot for even asking a question to her. For me that was it, and if I was in the store, I would have given the rudeness right back to her. Also it was explained in the email that my son is Autistic and he can distinguish different details in toys/things, so my wife wanted to make sure it was the right toy. For the record, I do not mind spending extra $$$ on things when it supports local business and when the customer service is top notch. I have been in the store many times and most of the employee's (except for miss personality) are very good/cheerful about the job they do. Also this problem could have been handled/resolved by the owner answering the emails instead of the manager. But it wasn't so I will spend my money elsewhere, Amazon, Toys R Us and the like. read more

Most of these reviews aren't from parents, so let me give some insight into what a parent needs from a toy store. Most of the time your going to get a VERY specific list of items that your child wants for birthday or Christmas. All of those items will be at Toys R Us or the internet for much cheaper than King Arthur's. King Arthur's is for the toys that YOU want to get them. Usually this means the toys that YOU want to play with. The cool, hip stuff that is imported from some Scandinavian country and has a name you're not 100% sure how to pronounce. They have a great selection of that stuff, and it's great fun to play with it in the store. The unfortunate reality is that King Arthur's is the toy store you wish your kids liked, because you definitely love it. Pick up a few things and hope that your child sees their worth, but don't be surprised when you're the only one who suggests playing with it. read more

This is a great place to get that feeling of being a kid again, before Toys R Us was around and Hannah Montana was created. Other than that, it's just - blah. The toys are overpriced. My dad went there for a Pokemon deck (back when it was still cool), and it was ELEVEN dollars. I'm pretty sure I can get the same pack at Target for 3.99. Their toys are more collectors items than stuff you'd let your child play with. Let's face it: these days, kids are more into the Hot Wheels and the Barbie dolls. They don't want to put together that whole train set. They want it done for them so they can race around the track. I'm not saying that the fact that children are so lazy they won't put their own toys together is a good thing. But it's the truth, and even if you want to force them to do some creative thinking in order to have fun, at these prices, I'd look elsewhere. At KA's, they make a special effort to stock quality toys that are designed to stimulate creativity and activity, not just toys that do all the playing for you. My kids and I stop in often to pick up a Lego set or a new Thomas train, and we inevitably get sucked into one of those frenzies of wonder that only a truly great toy store can inspire. They've got lots of the typical classics (a huge Thomas section), but you're almost guaranteed to stumble upon something you've never seen before (like an air cannon!). This toy store is big, it's diverse, it's fascinating, and yet not overwhelming. Well, for me, as an adult. I imagine if I were a child who couldn't see over the occasional dividers in the store, it might feel huge, magical, and endless. That's a good thing. If my (fictional at this point) kids were looking to score some new toys for fun, pretend, learning, the outdoors, or arts/crafts, this would be the place to go. I don't frequent toy stores (though the nostalgia I got shopping for the SO's niece was enough to make me think I should?) but I know enough to say that King Arthur's is superior to most places I've been with the same goal: find something that isn't plastic, cheap, loud, excess, or totally useless in 5 minutes, to buy. I walked out with a jump rope, a story/drawing book, and an arts/craft jewelry project (shirnky dinks!). King Arthur's far exceeds the Toys R' Us's of the chain world and it's larger than the small independents that sometimes feel a bit crowded or limited in what they can offer. Here there is room to move around, try things out, and also get a lot of selection in one stop. All ages, boys and girls, and for many interests. Well done! As a side note, there is a basement room, pretty nondescript, with some sale items. I found a few gems in that area. Check it out. Overall I was very impressed with the layout, inventory, and the not-in-your-face-pushiness of the sales people. I heard them helping a woman shopping for a four year old girl, clearly offering expertise, but for the most part they were hands off unless you asked. The low pressure atmosphere was appreciated. If you have kids or are buying for them, this is a great place to check out. They'd also probably like to visit and see what King Arthur's has to offer. If you do that, there are clothes shops, book shops, and ice cream shops all in a row here in Oakley. It might be an outing made in heaven. Get the ice cream last, maybe? Have fun! read more

As an adult who does not have any kids and generally does what ever I can to avoid being around kids you may wonder what business I have being in a store like this. Well I do like toys and am an artist working on a series of paintings of toys. This place is very cool. While I'm not that into new toys they have a great collection of toys good, smart parents should buy for their children. Toys that help kids create and experiment and learn. It does seems to be mostly high end toys but I found exactly what I was looking for- vintage style balsa planes which were reasonably priced. While I was there I also bought whoopee cushion for $2. How can you walk out without one.?The folks working there were welcoming, let me browse in peace and were pleasant at check out. If you have kids- take them here. King Arthur's Court Toys is an awesome toy store in Oakley, and the perfect place to shop if you are a parent looking to spoil their children, or if you are just looking for a nice gift. Sure, Toys R Us is great, but King Arthur's is very big (although it pales in comparison to Geoffrey the Giraffe's place), it's local, and it has a TON of fun toys for kids. They've won "Best of Cincinnati" awards, and there isn't much of a surprise why when you walk in. There large sections are: Infants, Puzzles, Cars and Trucks, Fun and Games (lots of board games, saw air hockey, "dartball"), Lego Construction Zone, Breyer (model horses), Playmobil, and Wooden Trains. Some of the neat toys, or "toys," I saw included a mini Pop-A-Shot and Carrera model sports cars with a large track. They even had some above average coloring books and mazes, if that really means anything. The layout of the store is great and it is very colorful, always plus for toy stores...I guess. There were kids all around having a lot of fun with some of the toys they were able to play with, and although they don't have a ton of cheap items, it's pretty much a guarantee you can find something for your kid, or for someone else's--you know, for a gift; not for luring someone into your windowless white van along with some candy. I shop there - and have done since my children were much younger. It is expensive, and real sales are few. You will do better for nearly everything at a big chain, or online --- a lot better. It is fun to browse there, and there are reasonably good selections of craft kits and other more unusual toys. My biggest complaint from my first visit there years ago is how filthy the bathroom always was and, sadly, remains. Considering this is store with lots of kids visiting, some of which are in diapers - the lack of decent changing facilities, regular cleaning, or even a decent bug extermination program is appalling. An adult barely fits through the door of the stalls, the tile is disgusting and there is a very bad smell. My children used to hold it in rather than go in there. I complained about the bugs once, years ago, and was given a sob story about how hard it is to survive as an independent toy store in the age of chains, etc., etc. Wrong answer. I am far and away not a neat freak, but you don't really care about your customers, who are often people with children, if you don't see the need for a better bathroom. read more

The walkie talkies I returned today were crap! They were not broken, they were poorly designed 1970s quality crap! I was upset while I was giving them back to the store because I was remembering the crying from my sons on Christmas morning because they could not play with the walkie talkies because all they could hear was static! I was less than impressed with the customer service while there! Basically, how could I a father have the audacity to suggest that one of their precious toys was crap! Well having years of experience and set of crappy walkie talkies myself 30 years ago, I expect more from a "high end" neighborhood toy store! If I want crap I will go to walmart. Hands down, the best toy store I've ever had the pleasure to shop. Truly a gem, and not the type of store that really exists anymore. It has a distinct age group set up for the toys, which my mother (in her role as grandma) finds really helpful when shopping for my kiddos. They are stocked with a few standards--Lego, Thomas the Train, and Melissa & Doug, Playmobile. What really makes this store unique are the European brands that you are not going to find at a big box store--Brio and Viking really stand out as they are hard to find but SO GREAT!
