Buffets are problematic; dried-out food, cold food, food that tastes "off" because it sits too long...this place has all of these problems and more. Again, we have eaten at Kings buffet on Ohio Pike, and it was absolutely delicious. There was nothing wrong with the food. It was such a selection that you can't even eat just a little bit of everything because there's so much it's it's still steaming. It's hot. It's fresh. The place is very very clean. We haven't been to the King buffet and over three years. We got there about 5 PM and it wasn't very crowded. The restaurant seemed like it was dirty. There were napkins on the floor and a fork. Chinese buffets always disappoint. This one was no exception. Many hot items were cold or just not replenished for 30 minutes or more. Several offerings had been sitting for a very long time. King Buffet hits another one of of the ballpark. Visited during lunch rush. It was busy enough to keep fresh food updated on the buffet. The hibachi grill was great as were the other lunch items. Of special note: the broccoli beef, cheesy broccoli, pepper chicken and the noodle vegetable (cabbage and carrots) dishes were favorites. This restaurant is truly one of a kind I'm afraid not in a good way either. When you pull in you already become uneasy when the parking lot is empty. Then you walk in a your nose is filled with the smell of fungus and beef and broccoli. There is a massive sign that says don't waste food and pay before you eat. Likely due to the fact that everyone wants to leave after one bite. 35 dollars you seat yourself and pour your own drinks with no servers present. And the soda itself being the color of tea. But when you have invested 35 dollars you have to eat here was the common assumption. Do not assume this the food was terrible the best things were cold and bland which was a pleasant surprise compared to the dog food in some other stations. Even the dessert in this case ice cream said vanilla flavored instead of actual vanilla. All the reviews that you read about this establishment are true do not come here. And if you do come here make sure to have take out ready from another restaurant by the time you leave. read more

I was in the mood for seafood, and wasn't quite sure what I wanted and came across this buffet. I read some reviews and saw that they weren't the best but my aunts boyfriend Insisted we give it a try. When we first got there we ended up paying 40 dollars for two people and only ended up spent about 20 minutes in the restaurant before leaving. We were very disappointed that all the reviews were true. All the food was cold and looked like it had been there for a while. When we almost gave up hope, we decided to try the hibachi grill. I got noodles and she got rice with teriyaki sauce and the teriyaki sauce ended up tasting like a sweet syrup, which ended up tasting horrible with the rice and veggies so we threw it away. We left very disappointed and hungry considering the food was very cold and extremely unappealing. read more

If the price of one adult and one child is going to be just shy of $40, I expect better food. I could have taken her to any other dine-in restaurant and gotten a better meal cheaper. Red Lobster is near and I should've just taken her there. The fried rice vegetables were hard. The chicken was tiny dried pieces with little to no meat, the beef and broccoli was slimy weird fat pieces with uncooked broccoli. My daughter hated what she chose, I can't blame her because mine wasn't good either. She ended up getting a slice of pizza and she couldn't bite through it - she's 9. She tapped it on the table and it was like a rock. My daughter went to the bathroom, I walked her because the construction workers in our area had some kind of staring problem. The bathroom had the smell of old beef and fish. It's a distinctive smell, it cannot be mistaken. I was trying not to gag waiting for her to come out. When she came out I seen into the bathroom, it was so dirty. I felt bad sending her in there because it was so filthy and looked like it was under construction. My daughter said the floor had puddles and she hoped it wasn't pee. Again, she's 9. I let her just get desserts, at least the money could go to something because at that rate we couldn't find anything to eat that looked, smelled, or tasted normal. Once she was done we left. This was where she chose to go on her mom/daughter day. I called her out of school to spend the day alone with her and just hang out. It was a huge, huge disappointment. read more

Because this is a buffet, one should have the appropriate expectations. Just saying. I wouldn't be as harsh as to compare it to "dog food" nor did my husband and I get sick. We went on a Monday during lunch, it wasn't busy. We paid, (drinks are included in the price) then had a nice choice of where to sit. It was quite big inside. Fairly bummed that they wasn't closing some tables to help with social distancing but we sat off by ourselves and hoped no one would sit near us. The selection was nice. I tried a small variety of mushrooms, lo mein, bourbon chicken, sesame chicken, a plantain, bacon wrapped crab, crab rangoon and both types of fried rice. The hibachi rice was good, better than the other. The plantain was bad, undercooked and underseasoned. The bacon wrapped crab was imitation crab with undercooked bacon. Once removing the jiggly bacon it left a good flavor on the crab. The lo mein was delicious. The bourbon chicken was good with a good bourbon flavor. The mushrooms was okay. The sesame chicken was good. The crab rangoon was okay. The first one was good and I assumed it was just a cream cheese rangoon. The second had strong crab and onion flavor that was off-putting. There was clams swimming in a gross looking liquid, a sad little pizza that looked like it had been under the heat lamps for a long time, small chicken nuggets, string green beans, general tso that wasn'r spicy at all, egg rolls, and so on. There was a good variety but we got what we knew we would mostly likely to enjoy. I like that you get your own drink and refills, there was always a woman or two going around and collecting plates, sweeping up, wiping tables and keeping the place tidy. I liked that. Soy sauce isn't in bottles at the tables, there are packs at the first table, this was nice to cut down on the touchies. Overall, we liked our food. We didn't eat dessert because we were full and normally don't go for desserts anyways. We may go back but it isn't like the food was so phenomenal that we will want to return soon. I went to the restaurant with a friend out on a limb after passing it for a long time on many occasions and I was quite impressed The cold fruit was very fresh and the main food was hot and was really good. Some of the food I didn't like was because it wasn't bad or anything it just wasn't my taste. The place was very clean and organized which is something I take very highly especially the dining area and seeing people cleaning and not just running a wet rag across the middle of it but actually taking the time to clean the entire table makes me feel much better. The minute you cut it, it was white mush. Salmon is my favorite & that WASN'T salmon. The cold shrimp on ice in the front looked like it had been sitting there for a week. I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before i decided to come in here! Geesh! My first time here and the experience was awesome! All buffet tables were open and stocked! They even have a hibachi grill. For two people at lunch we paid less than $30 including drinks. Yes some things were a little on the cool side, but you could clearly see them working through and bringing out fresh food! I believe in trying a place at least twice. Nope. Won't be back. Over $38 for 2 people?!?! And I can promise you homemade Jello has more flavor than this food. I was actually shocked at how bland the food is. The food was so bland I started to question myself....maybe I need to go home and take a Covid test. I didn't think it was possible to make a Chinese buffet this bad. We visited at 6pm on a Saturday. Surprisingly not overly crowded. I was initially shocked that it was going to cost $70 for the four of us (2 adults, teenager, 8 year old), but whatever. I don't mind paying if it's worth it. Self serve beverages was nice. But oh the food. My first pass was beef with broccoli (which was COLD), chicken on a stick (flavorless and dry), green beans (flavor was ok, but they literally squeaked as I chewed them), a piece of fried fish (the fish was practically disintegrated), sesame chicken (also cold, and mushy), and steamed rice which I discovered was not even Asian rice, it was cheap, enriched long grain white rice that was not even in a rice cooker. Even the RICE was bad. Second plate was chicken and broccoli (chicken was mush, but broccoli was actually decent), bourbon chicken (dry and flavorless), fried dumplings (barely remember even eating them), and stir fried rice noodles. Halfway through the plate I couldn't take it anymore. My wife and daughter were also less than thrilled. Even my 8 year old thought the food was lacking. No one came around to retrieve plates until we were basically leaving. Stay away, far away! read more

If I could describe this place in the best way possible it would Chinese food that has been left on the counter for a week. the sushi bar is leftover food rolled up. Every meat was over cooked and hard as a rock. 100% would not recommend if you know what good food taste like. The lady came to get our plates and gave my mother in law a very rude look. anything that was cooked correctly has no flavor and the salt didn't even help. My stomach started hurting very shortly after I started eating. if you want half descent chinese food go to the dragon buffet in huberheights it's everything this place wishes it was. Before Covid hit, King Buffet (and the Hibachi Grill that preceded it) was one of our go-to places - good food where you could try a little (or a lot) of all kinds of dishes. Since we started going back to eating in restaurants, we saw all of the negative reviews here and stayed away - until now. We went on a Saturday just after noon, and the food was fine. No, it's not as "bountiful" as it used to be - there aren't as many cars in the parking lot, so there's not as much of each dish on the buffet at any one time, so the food doesn't sit out and get cold or dried out. The cheesy broccoli was just as good as before, and so was everything else. And I saw where people complained that there was no seafood, just chicken - not true when we went. I had several dishes with shrimp, and they were good. I'd recommend that people should come back and give King Buffet another try - I'd give it a solid four stars out of five, when it was four and a half out of five before Covid. Pretty typical China Buffet. The place is huge. Looked like they only had a limited portion of the buffet in use, but I did go during lunch. Eat at your own discretion... Without discouraging people from trying new things, I want to point out the short comings of this establishment. Upon entry, the price board is posted. On it, the price has increased 3 dollars over the last two years, with a disclaimer on the the register counter. The price is up to $18.75 pp and the disclaimer states to the effect of; if you waste food, you will be charged the carry out price of weight per pound. With that being said... the food quality has diminished greatly, to the point that the peppered chicken is no longer including chicken. In essence, it is peppered breading. The food is sporadically hot and cold in the same serving pan. That in itself, is a feat only a pre-menopausal woman could conquer. The food options have decreased substantially and the dessert will leave you feeling deserted. The time of the experience was 5pm on a Friday evening. From past experiences, this is a prime dining time and one would expect the options to reflect. read more

My wife and I went here today because before it became KING buffet it was actually decent but now it is horrible. All of the buffet items under the hoods were not fresh and either cold or lukewarm and pretty much inedible, the hibachi was ok but he burnt my wife's food. I think the only that I liked was their cocktail shrimp and that they have very tasty cocktail sauce and the only thing my wife said was good was their green beans, we also thought their sushi was decent just not a very big selection. So I wouldn't recommend going to this restaurant, in total we spent $40 on food that basically ended up in the trash. read more

Oriental food choices were underwhelming. I tried several choices from the buffet and had a plate from the hibachi grill. Egg rolls and egg drop soup were particularly inedible. First time here. Saturday night, busy, but not overcrowded. Great food. Fresh sushi. You pay as in go in, which is nice. Self serve on the soda, so no waiting on refills. I highly recommend trying the breaded black pepper octopus. Nice dessert choices. We will definitely go again. read more
