Hot Joy was a hit. I enjoyed every part of this experience. The food was phenomenal. The menu…read morewasn't huge, but it still felt creative and offered plenty of variety. The service was great we were seated immediately, checked on several times, and the food came out quickly. Everyone was also friendly and welcoming. We tried the egg rolls, crab rangoon dip, cornbread, Spam fried rice, and honey walnut shrimp. Every dish was a 10/10 with great flavor and something unique to offer. The crab rangoon dip and cornbread stood out the most among the appetizers. The dip was an absolute hit and is something I'd definitely recommend. The cornbread had a subtle sweetness that paired well with its flavor. I also liked how it had a waffle shape to it, very different. I was a bit skeptical about the honey walnut shrimp at first because it looked pretty simple, but it ended up being delicious. The Spam fried rice was also nice, the pineapple paired great in it. Everything felt shareable its great spot to order several dishes for the table. If you check out this place, I'd recommend going with a group. The vibe was laid back, and the decor really tied everything together, making it feel like a fun hangout spot with a lot of personality.

It's funky to find, because the entrance is in an alley. We were a party of 17, with many separate checks. Cat did an amazing job at keeping up with everyone's orders and drink replenishments! They have a little happy hour menu with a couple drinks and food items. We got the $1 egg rolls and they were basic egg rolls. I got ginger noodles and added chicken and I wasn't crazy about them...they were ok. Someone got the spam fried rice and I tried that and it was fantastic. Many of their plates are shareable. Parking was a pain, so I may not go back. But it's worth the experience.

Everyone there was kind and amazing! I'm not sure what Japanese restaurants look like in Japan, but I imagined they look like this. They had Pokemon playing on tv. The menu was ample and very descriptive. On to the food! We started off with the Spam Masubi, appetizer for two, spicy tuna onigiri. The spicy tuna Onigiri was sooooo good! Wish we had more of it. We all shared communal style at the table, and everyone agreed it was by far the fav! The app for two wasn't too shabby either. It had shrimp tempura, crab Rangoon, gyoza, mozzarella sticks, and eggrolls. They were all either great to good. The tempura could have used a bit more time in the fryer, and it lacks some flavor. Also, mozzarella sticks make no sense, but they were ok. The consensus least fav was the spam musubi. Where the musubi at L&L Hawaiian was so delicious, this fell flat. We couldn't quite put our finger on it, but here it didn't make sense. None of us liked it. Even the spam felt off. We had the fiery roll, hoki shrimp bowl, and yakitori chicken bento. The sushi was ok. A bit too much cream cheese. The yakitori chicken was great. I will get to our one problem. The food was good to great, except the musubi. The portions are a bit on the smaller side for price. Not to terrible, we were still left wanting more. We also had dessert. We like matcha. We are weird, since most people we know aren't fans. We had the tiramisu matcha, matcha cheesecake soufflé, and strawberry mochi. They were all great. The fav was the mochi followed by the tiramisu. The soufflé was good, just some parts were a little dry. Oh and I almost forgot, they bring you fried wonton strips with sauce, like restaurants bring you chips and salsa. What a great touch, and they are addictive! The sauces didn't much. We ended up asking for chili oil instead. The miso soup was a surprisingly great soup!!!

We sat at the bar this time so we could see the chefs in action. It was cool hearing them coordinate orders and cooking. The music was light but nice. We ordered a tonkotsu ramen with grilled bokchoy add on and a tantanmen ramen with pork belly add on. For drinks, a butterfly bramble and shishito margarita (with accompanying waters, of course). Order number 10 was yonko luffy! The drinks came out first. I love butterfly pea drinks in general and this was no exception. The lime kept it refreshing with a mellow bite of alcohol. The shishito margarita had just enough spice to complement the tequila without being overpowering. Finally, the ramen! My wife enjoyed her tonkotsu ramen, but had a touch too much green onion. For the tantanmen, I had that first sip of broth (segregated from the pork by the toppings) and instantly thought "umami." That's always a bit hard to classify for me, but that broth really did it for me. I was hesitant to get the spicy ground pork because it's harder to scoop up, but that first sip made it worth it. And as the meal progressed, the spiciness of the pork seeped into the broth deliciously. The crunch of the bok choy was one of the reasons I got this dish; so good! The added pork belly was nicely charred and the fat melted in your mouth. I demoooolished that ramen. Perfectly full, not too much. Cheers!

Parking is limited, so be aware of that…read more From the outside, the restaurant gives a bit of an "hmm, maybe not" impression, but once inside I was pleasantly surprised. The space is clean, nicely decorated, and has a calm, welcoming atmosphere. We held the door open for a girl right behind us, who came across as a bit rude. I didn't think much of it until she ended up being the one taking our order. Her tone and demeanor felt off-putting, almost as if we were inconveniencing her. While ordering, she also corrected me while I was explaining menu items to my daughter, which felt unnecessary. Food-wise: * I ordered the Katsu Sando. They don't offer regular mayo... only spicy... so keep that in mind. It wasn't overly spicy and was actually really delicious. * My daughter ordered the Shoyu Ramen. It was good, but not something we'd order again. * We also ordered steamed edamame, which I always enjoy. I wouldn't give this place five stars due to the service, but I would come back, because they weren't all rude; likely with my other daughter, to try some of the other dishes that caught our eye. Hopefully next time we're made to feel a bit more welcome... unless kids aren't welcome and I missed that memo
