I'm on the fence with this place! I experienced way to many bone in my curry chicken meal..... seems like I got the end of what they were serving, I ordered curry chicken and it was very flavorful but there were far to many chicken bones, that I couldn't enjoy my rice it felt like I had received the final bit. The dish was also pretty pricey. The place was nice, gave me a club type of vibe, nice music and everyone was extremely nice. If I could give this place a quarter of a star for the ambiance I would. Poor customer service, horrible food and quite costly. I'm not exactly sure what part of the Caribbean this represents, but I'm half Jamaican and this is a far miss!!! Who charges for plantains with a dinner meal? Certainly not any other Caribbean restaurant in or around ATL. I really wanted this place to be good because of the vibe and the need for something good in Austell, but this is a disappointment! Cameroonian Wife: Stay away from this place. Leave now if you are reading this. This was by far the worst service and food I've had since living in ATL. I had actually been to this restaurant a few times with my husband's Cameroonian family friend and had enjoyed Suya. It was really good and fresh. It was actually better than what I had in Cameroon. We arrived at the restaurant walked in and no one greeted us. We seated ourselves and it took about 20mins for someone to finally come over to us after just staring at us the entire time like we didn't belong. Then treating us like we were tiktokers coming to review their food. One of the guys even came to our table stating "you guys are funny have you even been here before? That should have been our first sign to leave. The girl finally came over and asked if we were wanting to eat and drink. My friends replied yes. I replied can we get a menu. She ignored me. I asked several times for a menu and was finally denied followed by "what do you want to order? we have everything." We placed our orders and was excitedly waiting for our food. When the girl returned about 5mins later stating they were out of everything we ordered. This was sign number two that we should have left but my friend and sister wanted to stay. So we settled on Egusi Soup with Beef and Yam FuFu. We also ordered Suya with Jollof Rice and Jerk Chicken with Stew Peas. Our order arrived to the table while we were in the bathroom washing our hands. I let them try the Suya first and showed them how to eat it. It was dry and some pieces the color was kind of lite. Next we tried the Egusi and it tasted just like fish and it wasn't suppose to be any fish in this dish as both myself and friend expressed we have allergies to Seafood. Lastly we tasted the jerk chicken, rice and peas, and jollof rice. Both rice was dry and didnt really have a flavor (mind you I love jollof rice) and the jerk chicken was covered in like tomato sauce that also tasted fishy. This was by far the worst food I had tasted and mind you I know what African food taste like because I've had it before. The girl finally comes over to check on us and see if we were ready for the check. We advise her that we are and then proceed to ask is their Egusi made with fish or prepared with fish sauce because it was a very unpleasant fishy taste to it. The girl replied that she didn't know what it was supposed to taste like or if the dish included fish (this were the menu would have come in handy). I proceed to state that I didn't think it was supposed to taste like fish since I had already made it clear no fish or Seafood at this table. Plus when I've eaten something similar to Egusi it took on more of the flavor of the meat. This girl begans to insult me by asking if I had previously tasted Egusi before and if not how do I know what its supposed to taste like. I explained to her I've had similar African dishes with my Cameroonian husband and its supposed to take on the flavor of the meat being prepared with it. She then began to apologize and change her tone. Fast forward to about 30mins from leaving the restaurant my stomach started to feel like I was going to be sick. Sure enough a few hours later I was stuck in the restroom for hours. It looked like scenes from out of Bride's Maids. It was coming out from both ends. We all were really sick I had it the worst because I ate more of the food than anyone else because I wasn't trying to desrepect my husband's culture food. But this food tasted nothing like my husband's food or any other African dishes I had ever tried before. I will also no longer recommend anyone to eat here. I believe the food might have been spoiled on top of me having an allergic reaction to it. They also boosted the price because they assumed we were foreigners to the food like these tiktokers out trying the food for a trend. What's even more sad is while we were checking out the menu online while sitting at the table my sister was trying to tell me they had a lot of bad reviews and I told her to ignore them because I had eaten their before and it was my husband's people and the food was good. Just because this is an African restaurant doesn't mean that you should keep the African rude customer service! I hate to leave this review because the girl behind the counter was very nice. I just moved to Ga from Ny and happened to find this place. Ordered the Jerk chicken, Oxtails and hot wings to go. Got the two meals and had to wait 25 minutes for the wings. The food was the absolute worst, the meal came with 3 oxtails that looked like they were cooked in spaghetti sauce and the jerk chicken consisted of two wingettes and the hot wings were burnt. It's a new restaurant and it has true potential. The food was good; we hade the whole tilapia, plantains, soya, curry chicken and Jollaf rice. The tilapia was ok, plantains were good, curry wasn't anything special, the soya was not soya; more like beef cubes and probably the worst "soya" BUTTT the Jollaf rice was to die for. By far the best Jollaf I've EVER HAD. I left thinking about the Jollaf and will return again only because of Jollaf. OOO and the drinks are pretty good too. I had Fufu it was good. I also had Egusi Soup. I asked for beef soup not knowing that almost everything has some sort of dried fish or dried crayfish. The crayfish look just like dried shrimp to me. Absolute worst place I have ever gone to. From the customer service to the food. The so called waitress was rude and condescending. Starting from when my friend asked her if she wants to write down our order and she replies with I've been doing this for 7 years booboo, my mind is like an elephant. Prior to denying menus when requested. We had to go online to look up what we would want to order. Then when we place our order she comes back to say that none of the stuff we ordered was available. Mind you she said what do you want? We have everything. Then the food was terrible. It had a sour/spoiled or old taste to it. We asked what each thing had in it to make sure there would be no seafood in anything we ordered. As two in our group were allergic to seafood. The egusi soup tasted like pure seafood. Everyone got sick that night and the two that were allergic to seafood were sick the worst. One is still sick the next day/today. When we asked for the bill she came with a tablet, we asked if we would get an itemized receipt she stated no. The prices online are not what we're charged.
