I went today and purchased an red snapper meal. Paid 23.53 While I'm on my way home to pick up my kids before the storm kept smelling an off smell. Wasn't sure what it was. Then once I got on my side of town I decided to try a taste of my food. As I opened my bag I smelled what smelled like old rice and beans. I call to speak with the manager. And was told to call back later once he return. The young lady was very nice about the situation. I call back later and spoke with "JR" for him to tell me ain't nothing wrong with my food. He had it for lunch. I told him the only thing I was able to eat on my plate was the fish and plantains. For him to go back and forth with me was very unprofessional and shows his lack in customer service. I'm a manager in the food industry and I'm guessing "making it right" is not in everyone's moto! Mom and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time last night. Mom is new to the area and noticed the sign on the building as she drove by to go to CVS across the street one day. It was getting late and we were hungry, so we went to try them out. Getting to the location is tricky, but we didn't give up. As soon as we parked the car, JR, greeted us as we got out. That was nice! As we went in, we got greeted by everyone, even better! Great customer service is a lost art in America. As we ordered our food, they helped us make our choices as we chatted with a regular customer. What a delightful conversation! Everyone was absolutely wonderful. Now, the food...I have never ordered any Jamaican food from a restaurant that tasted as delicious as this food. There is plenty of it. Mom and I split a small plate to go. The portions are large enough to share. The spices are wonderfully combined. Yet very spicy, which was fun. We ordered the jerk chicken which comes with rice and peas, cabbage with broccoli in it, and fried plantains. Everything was perfectly made and fantastically delicious. We were encouraged to come back on Friday night and guess what.. I will be there and I'm bringing two friends with me. The atmosphere is comfortable, welcoming, clean. We were on this side of town for a basketball tournament and wanted to eat before making the journey back home. We saw this restaurant here on Yelp and the great reviews and figured we'd give it a try- so glad we did!! The service is prompt and very friendly; the prices are great for the amount of food you get. We started with the chicken patty which was full of flavor and filling- so many others we've had are mostly bread. I ordered curry chicken but they ran out so I had the stewed chicken instead- still a great choice. The meat was tender and very well seasoned. I had rice and peas, cabbage/veggie mix and it also came with a couple really sweet plantains. The hubs had jerk chicken that was really good and spicy- a few bites in and he took off his hat lol! You have to tell them dry; if needed. The food is great but too much pepper or spice where there is no taste but that to the chicken. My mouth is always on fire & not from flavor. Was in the Douglasville area this morning and looked to Yelp for a Jamaican restaurant recommendation and found the Caribbean Kitchen Bar & Grill had good reviews so I took a chance - and boy am I glad I did! The restaurant is run by a husband and wife couple, Nachelle and JR (hope I spelled her name right). Nachelle greeted me and was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered Jerk Chicken which is my benchmark dish at any new Jamaican restaurant. It came with cabbage, rice and peas and plantains. The first bite told me I had hit the jackpot! The jerk chicken is tender, moist and oh so flavorful. It is spicy; enough to make me sweat but not enough to slow me down. The chicken is grilled over pecan and other woods and served in a delicious sweet, rich and spicy sauce. The cabbage was out of bounds good. I can't quite put my finger on what seasoning was used but it was delicious. I asked for the rice and peas to be served with extra jerk sauce and it was wonderful. I ordered the small plate and could barely eat it all. The man responsible for this fine food, JR, came out and introduced himself and explained his history as a chef and a little about his jerk cooking technique. As we talked he disappeared and came back with a sample of his stew chicken, oxtails and curry goat. They were all as good as the jerk chicken. So much rich flavor and tender meat. Even though it's a bit of a drive from my house to Fairburn Rd, I'll definitely be back as this is my new favorite Jamaican restaurant. If you're in the area you owe it to yourself to give them a try. And if you really like Jamaican food, they're worth a drive. read more

This is one of those golden hole in the wall spots I hope never closes. My last Jamaican spot closed a year or so ago and I've done without. Hesitated to try this spot because the location is horrible. It shares space with an emissions station. But man, the food is no joke. My wife had the jerk chicken and I had ox tails which were all super tender. I ordered the small and was surprised how much I got. The flavoring was delicious and authentic. Plantains sweet and just right soft. Rice and beans were good as one would expect. Even the cabbage flavoring was out of control (although it was a little harder than I'm accustomed to). Pricing is decent. Higher than fast food certainly, but the lunch pricing is great. Folks are really polite, but it ain't the place for a valentines date. It looks like a hole in the wall. After having a craving for Ackee and Saltfish, for about four weeks, and failing to convince my Jamaican friend to cook for me I went on a hunt for restaurants in Atlanta who had it on their menu. To my dismay, many were nowhere in close proximity to my house. Almost giving up my hopes and dreams of good Caribbean food I happened to stumble across this place driving back home from Alabama. The food was perfect! My only complaint is that there wasn't more. I gladly would've taken less rice, and more Ackee and Saltfish. The veggies were good and everything was delicious. I want to give a special praise for the young lady at the register. Her customer service was excellent; especially since she went out of her way to give me the last coconut water in the building. One suggestion, it was fairly busy, but it was still quiet. I know M-F lunch hour isn't your typical lively scene, but music would've made the vibe perfect. Throw on some reggae, and set the mood. I ordered a large brown stew chicken from uber eats. I should've taken a picture. It is not enough food for the price. The meal consisted mostly of rice and peas, a small portion of cabbage with mixed vegetables, 2 plantains, and 4 bones with very little chicken. Everything was BLAND... just a shame. The food is decent I got some plantings to go and now services friendly and prompt environment is basically reasonable is obviously a single entrepreneur guy trying to make it out big making his own independent restaurant. Overall though the pricing is it expensive for what you get I wish you would go to cheaper the better reflected the quality and location of where it's at. For example it's hard to spend over $20 on a single entrée dish year when think about the $20 that say a bigger chain restaurant to give you an awful lot. If they just cut the prices more and gave or gave you more food for the money that is so easily be a four-star to five-star location. read more
