We have been ordering from this restaurant for years and have always enjoyed the food. That's why this experience was so disappointing. Recently, the Orange Chicken has been dry and seemed less than fresh several times. I had mentioned it before, and it improved for a while. Before placing this order, I even left a note with my order explaining that the last Orange Chicken we received was dry, tough, and almost impossible to eat, and kindly asked that it be made with fresh, tender chicken. I don't know if that had anything to do with what happened next, but we were genuinely shocked by the customer service. I placed an order for pickup at 7:30 PM. When my husband arrived, the order wasn't ready, even though he had received a text message saying it was. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes. We completely understand that restaurants get busy, but when my husband mentioned that he had received a text saying the order was ready, the employee simply replied, "We're busy," with no apology or explanation. When the food was finally ready, he placed the box on the counter. My husband asked if he had checked that everything was inside. He answered yes, but with obvious attitude. When my husband asked him to check again, he did, threw the receipt back on the counter, and rudely pushed the box toward my husband. At that point, my husband looked at him and said, "You know what? You just lost a customer." The wait was not the real issue. We understand that delays happen. What disappointed us was the complete lack of courtesy, professionalism, and appreciation for loyal customers who have supported this restaurant for years. Best lunch special I've had in a while! My regular Chinese Spot is closed on Tuesdays so I called King Chef instead. It was $15 for the meal, delivery and a little over 20% tip. Delivery didn't take long at all. I got the honey garlic chicken with the sauce on the side, so the chicken was nice and crunchy, pork fried rice was delicious, it was all still piping hot and somehow the Pepsi was still ice cold. Honorable mentions: The portion was huge and the girl on the phone was extremely helpful and patient. Honestly this is exactly what I needed. It's been hit or miss here food wise. The food can be excellent, but is usually not. Like they don't really care about what leaves the kitchen. The employees are also as rude as Hell. Posting an updated review, because after nearly a year, King Chef has become my go-to local place for American-style Chinese takeout. Every single time I order, the food is prepared consistently well, portions are huge, and the price is outstanding. One of their dinner combos literally has enough food to feed me for like 3-4 meals, and only costs around $12. That's insane!! My only critique of the food is that things here are not spicy, even if they're indicated as such. Depending on your tastes though, that may be a positive! Point on spice aside, the flavor is on point and I always enjoy my food from this restaurant. Not a huge fan of Chinese food to begin with, but this place scored higher than most. Had a nice experience with the staff, have seen from other postings that it hasn't been the case for many. I really hate ragging on small businesses or family owned places but I had to write this one. I ordered on Christmas day so I will cut them ~some~ slack on being behind on orders, however, when I order at 5:45pm and your "food ready" time says 6:15pm and I don't end up walking out of the restaurant with my food until 8pm, we have a serious problem. This happened with basically every other person that ordered as well, a few of which decided to cancel their orders mid-wait. Average wait time seemed to be about 2hrs per order regardless of order size. The website description of their food items is not accurate for some of their options. I ordered a spicy chicken dish that was advertised as fried and tossed in sauce and it was came out as a tender chicken dish in more of a soup with vegetables. When I presented this back to the staff and showed them the description, they were very confused and said "this is how it's always made, I don't know why it says that". Great. After waiting 2 hours for food I wasn't going to make a hassle about partial refunds or demanding anything replaced with how many other disgruntled people were also waiting. Third - this is Florida. Keep your restaurant doors closed please. SO many bugs and mosquitos in the restaurant. I picked up a good amount of mosquito bites just waiting for my food. This place use to be good not anymore. Ordered house special fried rice was mushy not one vegetable not even onion. Had no taste and only pork horrible. Chicken with vegetables was watery turned into a big puddle of mushy soup even though I requested thick sauce. Egg rolls are thin as paper. Decided to give King Chef another try for the third and final time. Not your average Chinese take out, average would at least provide beef in the lo mein. I ordered Beef lo mein and to my surprise, very little beef. When you pay $10 for a quart, it damned well better be pack with fucking beef and some vegetables. The battered sweet and sour chicken has very small pieces of chicken and mega amounts of batter breading. I prefer the thing crispy breading type used for General Tso's chicken. The type they serve was the "make it look big but give them little shitty sized pieces of chicken" The sweet and sour sauce was horrible, I couldn't eat that horrible crap again. Its hard to mess up Crab Rangoon but, they don't even fill up the damned wonton wrappers with the mixture.... RUFKM ? It so hard to find a Chinese restaurant with integrity. I was very nervous getting my food here because the inside of the place is not the most beautiful place I've ever seen. I'm not the most particular, but the dining room had a few tables and chairs and a tv propped up on two chairs. Oh, and the TV didn't work. This is my secondary spot but I've been coming here for a couple of years now. The food is good and more importantly consistent. There is no wow factor and the 40 year old lady may have an adversion to dark skin people but that might be me being overly sensitive. They are faster most other places i think the rice is precooked and i don't mean white, i mean fried rice heated through. But i can't complain i eat it often and it tastes good. This is a first for me.. I am rarely in the mood for Chinese takeout, but last night I opted for delivery from King Chef. The food was awesome (or maybe I was just hungry), so I decided to give it another shot tonight. I have a strong feeling this will be my 'go-to' Chinese takeout establishment for the foreseeable future. The food is really good.. Normally the flavor of takeout is so overpowering that I can only eat it on occasion. The food from King Chef has a light flavor with a taste of freshness. I always opt to sub pork for shrimp in the rice and most places really skimp on the shrimp.. Not here!! Lots of shrimp in the rice - loved it. Great service and good food! When you've searched yelp for hours and can't decide what to go eat, why not lay low and enjoy some great delivery! Tonight was just a night where the storm rolled in and we couldn't decide to go out or stay home. My boyfriend suggested maybe some Chinese delivery and since my mom was visiting from out of town and recommended Chinese food earlier it was a the perfect solution. He recommended King chef, but I was a little skeptical since many of the Chinese food delivery places we have tried so far have been so-so. I'm glad to say I was pleasantly surprised. The three of us ordered combos (Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, and General Tso's Chicken... all with fried rice and various soups). All three of us really enjoyed the soups we ordered, egg drop, hot and sour, and wonton. And the food was exactly as expected... and best of all each dish tasted fresh despite the late hour. (Not like some that we have had in the past from other places, where you could tell it's been sitting all day) Delivery was very reasonable and did not take very long. And sometimes YOU JUST GET A CRAVING FOR CHINESE FOOD OKAY?! The delivery fee is like $1.50....HELLO! Their menu is very large. You can call to order or order online. I usually opt for ordering online...because socializing is a lot of work for me....But then you have to add about 5 min to the delivery time because it takes the restaurant about 5 minutes to receive the order. I have had: Crab rangoon--good but not as crispy with delivery Wonton Soup-very good and generous with the wontons Shrimp Fried Rice--not good, wouldn't order again, very dry and bland Singapore noodles--my absolute favorite! great flavor, huge portion (I get 3 meals out of it), lots of meat, normally chicken, pork, and shrimp Moo Goo Gai Pan-Decent, I like it with the white rice, a little bland....but hey thats the dish! Eggrolls-SOOO GOOOD! Very large and filled to the max! Great flavor. Sesame Chicken--not good, way too sweet, and texture is off. Either way too soggy or too hard to eat. Moo Shu Chicken--very good! Large portion. Pancakes are good, but have to eat them right away or they go stale! Bottom line. This is a typical takeout chinese restaurant. It is clean inside! It is fast and it is delicious!
