I'm normally not a fan of Chinese food, but this restaurant changed my mind. One of the best Chinese foods I have ever. We placed an order for pick up and it was ready in 15 mins. As soon as entered we were greeted and the entrance that leads to the seating area inside the restaurant looks very nice. We ordered two dinner combos and crab Rangoon. The dinners combo comes with soup and an egg roll. I had the sesame chicken with wonton soup and the egg roll. By the time we got back to our place and settled down, the food was still tasty and was still fresh. The food had such a good flavor to it. This has become my new go to in Broward. read more

The portions are generous, the quality is excellent, and everything tastes freshly made. I especially love their hot tea--it's such a nice touch--and the fried rice is always perfectly cooked. The Lee family, who own and run the restaurant, are some of the nicest people you'll meet. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and the service is truly impeccable. It's the kind of place where they remember you, which makes dining here feel personal and special. My go-to dish is the orange chicken, and it's easily the best I've had anywhere. I grew up ordering from here as a kid. Came back 25 years later once I heard the owner is the son of the Wo Hop in NYC owner. The food was just as good, if not better than I remember. We have been coming here for a while now and I am finally writing my review. There are so many dishes I like in Chinese cuisine so I wanted a better picture. For me, it is now safe to say, I really enjoy the this place. The place is an old fashioned Chinese restaurant in every way. The decor is old style Brooklyn from way back when. The service is old school friendly and the food brings back old memories. When we moved to Florida we had a hard time finding a decent Chinese food. This place is it, mind you Chinatown NYC it is not but for me the memories it brings back makes me very happy. read more

We went to South China Restaurant on Christmas Day. Wow, was it busy! The service was outstanding. They were well prepared to handle the crowds of people and all the to-go orders. My Father had his heart set on ordering the egg foo young. The waitress told us they were too busy to make this, so it was not available. My wife and I ordered the mushrooms in garlic sauce. They must have been short on mushrooms because our dish had more pea pods than mushrooms (see photo). Overall, the food and service were fast. The food was tasty and the restaurant ran efficiently. Most if not all restaurants have increased their prices. But to reduce the quantity of the meals and providing smaller portions at higher prices. I asked that a lunch special have white rice instead of fried rice and they charged over $3.00 for the change. While it's not entirely their fault because cost are going up but to add noodles and vegetables to a dish is not expensive. The owner does not care and cannot understand why he is losing customers. I tried to be spontaneous and try a Chinese restaurant without doing too much research. I really regret it. This place is not authentic at all and they use leftovers from previous days into different dishes. I gave it a shot though and here are my thoughts: There was a section of combination dinners. We thought well we can try more things why not. The complimentary wonton soup and egg drop soup were very good. Then came the deep fried roll and one rib. The rib was nice. The roll however had leftover rib meat inside of it. And only rib meat. It was so dry. Next came the rice. It was so bad. I don't know how you can mess up rice. The flavoring was sweet and the rice was hard. Leftover rice probably from the day before. Finally our entrees. I can't remember the name of the soy sauce looking one. But it was super greasy. Flavor was nice. But I couldn't eat more of it because of the grease. Fried chicken garlic. I messed up and thought I was getting the chicken wings. This was good but again super greasy and sweet. The pieces were chicken breast. But not at all healthy with the sweetness and oil. There are a lot of regulars that come here. This place isn't for me. read more

If you're looking for Chinese food like you had when you were a kid in Brooklyn then this is the place for you. My wife had tears of joy when she saw the wonton soup with big pieces of pork and soup greens. The hot and sour soup was also standout. We also tried shrimp chow mein, beef with bean sprouts, shrimp with lobster sauce and a Szechuan pork dish. The waitstaff was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed. My wife said the interior looked like the place in Brooklyn her parents took her to. I ordered beef chow fun, two orders of chicken pad Thai and one order of crab Rangoon. The beef chow fun was flavorless. We had to doctor it quite a bit. The chicken pad Thai was also flavorless. That also had to be doctored up to eat. The crab rangoons were decent. It even had a few specks of fake crab meat in it. It was a 25 minute drive there so I wasn't going to take it all back and my grandchildren were hungry. I will not be going back there. The food is not very good. Haven't been to a Chinese restaurant since moving to Weston area years ago. Found this spot tucked away in Cooper City Strip Mall. Brought back memories of years ago upon entering. What a take out business they have! Hot tea pots on the tables and traditional ambiance and menu with complete meals with soup, egg roll and ice cream at the back of the menu. Waitress really made the experience even better. Great attitude that even pointed us in the right direction of what to order. Vegetarian items in the menu u as well as special orders which made it very appealing. Portions were large and came with fried rice. We will be back! read more

I ate here 8/12/2023 around 6 p.m. It was awful. Somehow I never ate here in my years of living in the area. I hear from others it is good. I disagree. I ordered pepper steak with brown rice and wonton soup. The only thing I liked was some fried thick noodles that were placed on the table. The soup had little flavor. The rice was not nearly cooked enough. Worst of all was the pepper steak. It did not taste right. It seemed to have a very low quality taste to it with no flavor. I only took a couple bites. Pepper steak is my favorite dish at Chinese restaurants. I have never tasted one I did not like until yesterday. My friend ordered the chicken with garlic. He also ate very little. I did like the ice cream they gave. One and done. I cannot ever eat here again. Low quality food is served here. read more

Report number two tonight I started off with incredible vegetable soup and eggroll, and I had a long talk with the waitress and gave her the prescription on how to prepare Boston style shrimp and lobster sauce. I was so happy I've been living here at 38 years and have never ever enjoyed what I got here tonight the ribs are amazing the pork strips. and pork ends are amazing honey. The last couple of times we got food from here, we ordered to go and both times the orders were ready in about 15 minutes. The food is very good, I like the eggrolls and the General Tso chicken the most. The sauce on the chicken is flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The beef with oyster sauce is also a favorite, it comes with plenty of snow pea pods so if you like them this is a dish I would highly recommend. The only thing I'm not crazy about here is their fried rice. It's not that it's bad or anything it's just not one of the best that I've had. Excellent "little Chinese restaurant around the block"!! This one's a keeper! From the moment we sat down and got the fried noodles with the sweet sauce and the complimentary cup of tea I knew it! And then we discovered their menu choices at around $12 each with fried rice, choice of soup and an egg roll and ice cream desert? Well what more is there to life! We went for the classic cup of wonton soup and a cup of hot and sour soups : both were fantastic. Next we got the hot-off-the-wok egg rolls that were tasty and fresh, and finally we had a cashew chicken and general Tao's chicken : both with tasty delicious sauce and generous portion size. If anything, the fried rice was a bit blah (didn't have any pork) but tasty too../ so for a $12 meal per person we got a ton of good food, tasty a friendly atmosphere and we discovered a new favorite! This has been our go-to Chinese restaurant for years now. It's always hot and fresh. I love their cashew chicken and we always get an order of lo mein on the side. The pieces of chicken are a great size with fresh, crunchy vegetables in their yummy cashew sauce. Dinners come with a giant side of fried rice, an egg roll, and choice of wonton or egg drop soup. This was a terrible mimic of chinese cuisine, to start of rice was mush, cold and in clumps, I ordered the pow shrimp, and they gave me a mystery dish , shrimp swimming in a dark too sweet sauce...my husband had the chicken and broccoli, a platter full of a huge amount of under cooked broccoli...sorry your serving staff all 3 of them wore dirty aprons, Do they cook the food as well? Ate there last night for the first time. We have tried a few different places since parc 28 closed. South china was pretty busy around 7 when we got the but we were seated quickly. Service was good. Had the pepper steak and honey garlic chicken. The food was on point all the way from the wanton soup the egg rolls and the fried rice. We especially liked the duck sauce which clearly has some apple sauce in it. We will be back. We will try take out one day I'm sure but in my experience dine in Chinese food is always better. read more

First time at this establishment. I did not dine in did a quick take out. The hostess was friendly and pleasant. The decor inside was small but quaint. I ordered only veggies and white rice and a spring roll. The vegetables were fresh and tasteful. The spring roll was ok just a little bit too oily for my liking. When I went to pick up my food they were on time so thays always a food thing. I also saw alot of older people dining in probably a lot of the locals in the area. When I'm in that area again I will have to try them out better. As for now nothing really bad to say nor great just it was good for a fast take out when I was hungry. read more

This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. I've been going here ever since I moved to this area and the food has been consistently good and the service has been on par every time. I placed a call in order for a couple dinner meals which includes fried rice, soup and a egg roll, with whatever protein you choose, all for around 13 dollars. That's a fantastic deal with the amount of food you get, the food usually last me 2 days. This is one of the friendliest places I've ever been to, from on the phone to on person, they are super nice and helpful. The food is usually ready in 15 mins, so you aren't waiting super long for it. The food comes out hot and tastes fresh. We ended up at South China Restaurant because Beverly Hills Cafe was crazy busy. We were seated right away. 2 bowls of crunchy noodles were brought to the table. I immediately noticed that there are a lot of regulars who pick up take out. They are greeted and conversations occur that make me happy to be there. Service was very friendly. I always wis that when Chinese restaurants have veggie soup on the menu that it will be with a vegetable broth, but nope. I had the vegetarian egg roll and the Buddha delight. Both were very good and tasty. My daughter had the egg drop soup and chicken lomein combo. The fried rice was very good and the portion was huge. The kids' menu was a little boring so she ended up with a lot of left overs. My husband had a combo of pepper steak. His came with a spare rib and an egg roll. He enjoyed it very much. He also had a bowl of hot and sour soup. He was happy with it. All in all the food was tasty and service was very good. We definitely would be back. read more

Went there tonight as a family of 4. Food was terrible. Rice was not cooked thoroughly and bland. The carpet looks disgusting. The place seems dark and gloomy and uninviting. Look at the previously failed health inspections and that explains everything. They should think about changing the chef because it's ruining the business. Will never come back! read more

We ended up here because we didn't feel like waiting an hour for a table next door at Beverly Hills cafe. I was a bit unsure about eating here since I didn't care for the last time I we eat here. I'm glad I gave this place a second chance. I started with the chicken hot and sour soup. I ordered extra spicy. This was the only thing I had that I thought was just ok. It was just average. There is a couple of places where its incredible. The rest of the food was outstanding. I ordered the beef in a black pepper flavored sauce. Wow it was good! The beef wasn't mushy soft, it was more like grilled and still tender. It came with fried rice, really good for fried rice that is served with a combination meal. It also came with soup, I took that to go, an egg roll, which was also really good and a spare rib that was so good, I wish they would have spared a few more for me. My wife had a mixed vegetable dish with white rice and a vegetable egg roll. I got to try here dish and it was also really good. My daughter had chicken lo main it looked good. Sometimes you just want a nostalgic meal that reminds you of your childhood... and this place delivered. Complimentary tea and wonton crisps with duck sauce are always such a treat. It's rare to find a place anymore that does this. Their combination dinners are such a great deal, about $10-12 for soup, eggroll (which are actually crispy!), entree and rice, and ice cream. Is the food outstanding, trendy, or the best thing I ever tasted... no. But we will be back, because a comfort meal is sometimes needed. There is something special about fluorescent green pistachio ice cream with a fortune cookie. Service was wonderful, our waitress was so polite, helpful, and accommodating. The restaurant is older appearing, with not too many tables, but it has a fish tank and the table place mats are those classic mats with the years and tells you which animal your year is.
