Avoid these people. Avoid them. They called like an hour before my appointment on Monday morning. Since I didn't have my ringer on they just gave my appointment to someone else. I drove 3 hours one way to meet them, because they were highly recommended. Not only did they not give a damn that I was in a LOT of pain, the receptionist was cold as a bureaucrat, and the manager just kept mouthing these platitudes, "I understand." Just corporate speak. Thing is I did confirm, said I definitely want the appointment on Friday. But they called last minute "to confirm." Since I didn't call back, "Sorry." Oh, when I first called, they tried to immediately upsell me to more treatments before I had even come in. AVOID. read more

I was recommended Dr. Shapiro from a previous chiropractor because I had to find one that was more conveniently located. It was important to me that I found a chiropractor who uses a hydraulic table, because that was the method that I had results with in the past. I found it very easy to find appointment times that worked around my work schedule. I have never been kept waiting for my visit. Appointments are short, sweet, and effective; I'm usually out in 10-15 minutes. I appreciated Dr. Shapiro's changing his recommendations based on results he was seeing, rather than going with a one size fits all approach. I ended up needing less treatment than he originally thought, which made me feel like I was not being taken advantage of. In fact, I showed up for an adjustment, and he felt that my previous adjustment had held, and that I did not need further adjustment that day, and he didn't even charge me anything to account for his time, which was a pleasant surprise. Amazing!!! I'm a Combat veteran who has been to many chiropractors. Dr Shapiro was by far the most thorough and helpful Doc I've seen for an adjustment. Called last minute, during the COVID crisis and they accepted my appointment. I couldn't walk or barely sit down from excessive pain so it was a blessing to score an appointment. I've had positive results at King Chiropractic with some chronic musculoskeletal conditions as well as with a sprained ankle, rotator cuff problem and bursitis in my knee. Dr. Shapiro's hands-on treatments are very thorough, and I usually feel somewhat better after just one session. He typically prescribes follow-up physical therapy in his office or another practice, and those treatments combined with exercises he recommends have done the trick several times. In fact, after doing his exercises for my neck--following his online instructional videos--for several months, my neck felt stronger, more flexible and more pain-free than it had in many years. The office doesn't take my insurance, but the fees are quite reasonable. Dr. Shapiro dresses more formally than the typical Humboldt County doctor, always wearing dress slacks and a tie. But he's not dour or uptight. In fact, he has a good sense of humor, and I've enjoyed chatting with him. read more

Just went down to visit Dr. Shapiro for a last minute appointment regarding my lower back pain. The process was easy, smooth and efficient, literally just a phone call away. Dr. Shapiro is not only personable and friendly he knowledgeable and considerate and take all of your personal conditions and concerns into the equation of his treatment. He is also very educating with his patients about how to prevent injuries and maintaining proper postures and avoid inappropriate neck and back popping. I had been going to Dr. King for years, on occasion, when I needed an adjustment. After going through a divorce back in 2008 and losing my medical insurance, I quit taking care of myself properly. Last year (2014) I was having some chronic issues flaring up and my friend Tiva had mentioned King Chiropractic and I told her that I'd heard Dr. King had retired. She said she'd been going to Dr. Shapiro who had taken over King's practice and was utilizing the same techniques as Dr. King. I went in for a visit and afterwards he said something like he was surprised I did so well considering how out of whack I was! My neck, back, AND hips were all out. I needed to be seen a few more times over the next couple of weeks, so I scheduled the appointments on my way out. I had two more adjustments the week after that, and then the following week when I came in for my last scheduled appointment, he checked me, and asked how I was feeling. I said "great!" He said "almost like you don't need to be here?" and I said "yeah haha!" And he replied "you don't, your adjustments have stayed in place" and he sent me home! I said "well, don't I still need to pay for today's appointment?" and he said "No! I didn't do anything!" As someone who has to pay cash now, this was outstanding! Wow! What doctor sends you home, without paying, after seeing you in office? It doesn't happen. (Well, here it did). I was more than a little surprised and very impressed with the care there. I love king chiropractic. I've been going ever since I was little. They have been able to fix things, that my doctor wanted to correct with surgery. During my first pregnancy I went twice a month and it helped with all my aches and pains so well that I didn't have any till I was ready to pop! They are reasonably priced, and always think of you and what's good for you first. Not what will make money off you. They give you honest diagnosis that my doctors always agree with. I have been with Dr. Shapiro since he took over Dr. King's office many years ago. I have always felt his treatment was very thorough, professional, and effective. Two years ago I had a lot of neck pain due to a whip lash injury. Over two months of physical therapy just seemed to make it worse. One adjustment by Dr. Shapiro and I felt about 80% better, a second adjustment took care of the rest. I wished I had thought of seeking his care much sooner! I also much appreciated his effort in another major health issue of mine, when he ordered all of my MRI images taken at the hospital, reviewed them carefully, and put them on a disk for me. Most of my insurance plans throughout the years have paid about half (or slightly more) of his fees. When I don't have insurance covering chiropractic care, I still feel that the money spent is worth every penny. read more

After years of being a patient with Dr. Shapiro, not only getting adjustments but also going through the physical therapy program, I had corrected a bad shoulder and hadn't needed to go back for two years. Just now called to make an appointment for an adjustment, after being on hold three times for the office assistant to get her story straight, I was told I needed to be treated as a NEW patient, have a NEW evaluation and pay three times what it should be for an adjustment. Good job scamming your loyal PATIENTS. There is nothing worse than having a caregiver that you've been working with for so long try to squeeze $$$ out of you bc of a 'policy'. I have been to many chiropractors. I have even worked at a chiropractors office when I was younger. I didn't ever experience anything as awesome. I went in because my back was hurting and I had heard that he can fix my vertigo problem. He did, I no longer have the room spin - he fixed that issue in one session. Honestly the experience was great. I left breathing deeper and feeling taller and wanting to afford more care for myself. It was rather spoiling! read more

Went to Dr. Shapiro after a long plane flight which reactivated a serious "crick" in my neck. His expert adjustment and consultation fixed the problem immediately. His staff is friendly and compassionate, which is really nice to find when you're in pain. He has some excellent equipment (adjustment table and electro-something-or-other) that I have never seen before in other offices - and I've been to many chiropractors around the country over the years. I was a little nervous about going to a new Chiropractor when I moved from out of the area. I had previously gone to the same chiropractor my whole life, but this office came highly recommended by friends and co-workers. Dr. Shapiro seems very knowledgeable in his field and really takes the time to figure out what is best for each patient. I received a combination of the traditional spinal manipulation I was used to, in addition to the use of a drop table, which was new to me. Their office is pretty centrally located in Eureka. It's not far from my home, which makes it convenient for me, and they have never had trouble finding an appointment time to accommodate my schedule. read more

I suffer from a low back issue from multiple back injuries which has cause me to have extreme sciatica. I went to several different chiropractors in Humboldt, but they only made it worse. I even tried acupuncture to try and help relieve the extreme pain. Acupuncture kind of helped, but the minimal relief was gone in a few days. Not worth the 120 per session IMO. I have now gone to Dr. Shapiro 3 times and I am significantly better. I am now able to walk without pain and only get pain some days when going from sitting to standing. His prices are in line with the industry, $60 per visit before insurance. Of course if you have ever suffered from sciatica you know you can not put a price of relief. I would highly recommend this Chiro to anyone who is looking. read more

Unfortunately I have not yet been to King Chiropractic. The first time I made an appointment I cancelled to try acupuncture first. Siobahn (sp?) set up that appointment and gave me helpful information. She's great! Then I made an appointment 3 weeks later. I had a few questions the second time I made an appointment like how long it would be. My remark was "40 min that seems too fast!" Her response was "well ya...a regular appointment is only 20 min." It came off rude and snotty and I'm not even sure she noticed. Not sure if it was Jamie or Jenna. I made another appointment with a chiropractor my acupuncturist referred me to. She got back with and I scheduled an apt with her. As the appointment approached for king chiro I decided I would cancel and go to the referred one. When I called in the early morning to cancel Jenna answered. She couldn't even find my appointment! I said wow that's bad. Pretty ridiculous actually! Her response was yeah well sorry have a good day also snotty. How are you going to be rude with me when your staff didn't schedule correctly. Lucky I cancelled and didn't waste my time going or I would have been more irate to show up and not be seen. Also, their website states they do massage. I thought that's great that definitely justifies the pricing of the visit. But of course they do not. False advertisement and pricing is too high. Glad I went elsewhere. read more
