Honestly, one of the best haircuts I have ever had. I used to go to Gotham Barber on 57th but their extensive rotation of barbers quitting had me start looking elsewhere. Got my first cut with David today and I am extremely pleased. I have very thick hair which means that if you don't have experience, it usually looks choppy. I've walked by this place hundreds of times but I'd never actually SEEN it. I mean, I was aware of it but it never clicked that there was a barber right near the subway. So the other weekend, I was in a time crunch because I slept late and didn't have time to go to my usual place on East 45th St, so I looked on Yelp (of course) and it said "hey, this barber shop is just a few blocks away". So I went in, was seated immediately, and had a nice haircut in 10 minutes. The guy who cut my hair was nice, the shop was clean, the Animal Channel was the tv and there was nobody else there, so I was very happy. The cut was $17, which is $3 more than my place on the east side, but then I usually take a cab over there and that's $8 or $9, so I figure I'm actually saving six bucks! I will definitely go back here in a pinch (because I really like the guys on the east side, so don't want to shut them out). read more

I came in here for a beard trim the other day. I did not need anything special, just needed to mow the lawn with a #3 attachment on the clippers and clean up around the sideburns. I didn't feel the need to go all straight razor extravagance. I walked in and was promptly greeted and seated. The clipping and sideburns stuff only took 10-15 minutes and I am satisfied with the results. All for about $13. Why 3 stars? Since all I got was a simple beard trim with clippers and not a proper shave or haircut, I would reserve 4 or more for a haircut or full shave service. Raphael and the team have done a great job installing protective screens between each chair and have taken care to disinfect and prep each chair/equipment ahead of you taking your seat while wearing masks for everyone's safety. The lower subway entrance is still closed but you can access the shop from the 57th street entrance. Raphael is as professional and friendly as usual, and you can call ahead to secure a spot. Midtown 57 street right off the corner of SE 8th Ave and one flight of Subway stairs and your here. Ready to get a classic mans/women hair cuts with stylist ready to meet your desires. I feel like also this place deserves more recognition considering this place is not technically apart of the "Turnstyle mall" and the traffic kinda directs you away from this great place. Which I would say is unfair as there is and there's another barber shop which gets a lot more traffic than this place which in my opinion isn't fair and doesn't hold up to what you get here at Kind David's. They do very clean fades something which the other place kind of could get wrong sometimes but no mistakes here lie here for a mans/womans haircut here. They offer the SAME pricing as the other place but offer a higher standard of hairstyling. All in all, I say this place is offering the gold standard when is comes to men's haircuts in my experience and I'll be coming back as a regular because of the great work these folks put in. It was a little awkward but I agreed as Aron was pretty adamant and said she is a good barber. I showed her a few photos of previous cuts done elsewhere and we talked about what I wanted today, and especially with a natural #2 taper on my neck whose hairline is pretty much a "V" shape which I want barbers to retain and work with.
