Love love love! Found this place after hitting up To Go Sushi, sweets and sushi all within 50 feet. Had the softest and most fluffy maple bar ever. What many people don't realize about this place is they don't only sell donuts. You can also get the best breakfast sandwiches in Lyndon here and spend less than you would at a McDonald's. I got a fresh made and delicious bacon and egg croissant for about $3 and it was huge. This place is so tasty, underrated, and reasonably priced that I honestly hate to write about it rather than keep it all to myself. You will find donuts that are just as delicious as they are fun (like fruity pebbles donuts) but plenty of traditional options as well, which is my preference. read more

Yum! In a competitive market, king donut is Louisville fried sugar royalty. Set in an unassuming building in Lyndon, you'll find some excellent donuts. There is lots of variety in donuts, and a nice selection of bottled sodas. Obviously a nice breakfast place, but store hours and soda options make an afternoon snack also a great option. The worst thing about King Donut is they sell out of old fashion donuts so quickly. This is likely because they are among the best in town. Value is tremendous -- 75 cents a donut. That's way cheaper than most high end bakeries (I've embarrassingly paid $5 in Boston) and even beats the subpar gas station's $1 donut across the street. Fantastic donut find hidden in Lyndon. Come early to get the best selection. read more

My family and I stopped by on our way home and were pleasantly surprised with this shop. The breakfast sandwiches were freshly prepared and very good. When I first moved to Louisville a few months ago, this was the first donut shop I stopped at. This was a time when I thought Krispy Kreme had good donuts, man was I wrong. Anyway, out of the four places I have tried so far this is definitely tied for first. I loved the selection and the consistency when it came to the quality of each donut in terms of taste and texture. For some reason, their plain strawberry donut was my favorite. The strawberry icing (glaze?) that went over it was delicious and the donut itself was soft and fluffy without being too airy...a bite with substance. Well made, and well cooked. King Donuts is a few notches above Nord's Bakery and Sugar & Spice Donuts in my opinion. read more

This is a new place I need to frequent more often as I had a great experience with these donuts. This place was open on Easter, so I decided to grab a few donuts for tasting and see how they were. I grabbed an old fashion donut, a custard filled chocolate glazed long john, and blueberry cake, and a chocolate chip chocolate glazed donut. The blueberry cake was warm, moist, and soft. The custard filled long john had a good amount of custard filled inside of it, alongside a small dollop of custard on the top, showing what kind of donut it was. The chocolate chip chocolate glazed donut was a surprise in that the middle of the donut had a surprise thin later of, what tasted like, melted chocolate chips, which was a pleasant surprise. Also, taking a bite of the old fashioned donut, I was shocked that it tasted exactly like a Danish Butter Cookie (or what I call, the blue tin cookies). That donut was quickly devoured. I am instantly drawn to coming back here again and seeing what other surprises the other donuts might have for me! read more

I was really impressed with my quick trip to King Donuts! They had a huge selection of fresh donuts that were reasonably priced. The service was quick and friendly. I was almost stumped as to what donut to try so I bought 5 to share with others. I ended up with a lemon filled, blueberry cake, red velvet cake, chocolate twist, and maple long-john. I thought that it would be creme or custard filled. I was kinda disappointed when I got to my destination and it wasn't filled at all. I guess they add filling at request but I didn't know that. Oh well! Next time. That donut was still warm. I could tell everything was made that very morning. Delicious stuff! read more

I am a donut super fan, and King Donuts is so amazing! The apple fritter has the most unbelievably perfect taste, soft apple with just the right amount of cinnamon. Everything was so soft and fresh. Did I mention that the filled donuts were jam packed with filling and not just a bit or two like some other donut shops. king Donut gives more flavor than sugar, so they are not overly sweet. I just can't say enough great things about this place. Do yourself a favor and get the orange fruity pebbles donut...you are welcome. read more

Where to start? My husband and I moved to the Lyndon/Holiday Manor area 3 years ago. We've driven by King Donuts hundreds of times probably and just never actually stopped. Well we finally did two weeks ago, and were blown away. First off, there's a very large selection of donuts. Glazed, chocolate, strawberry, cake donuts, long johns, cream filled, custard filled, fruit filled, sugar dusted, cinnamon dusted, bear claws, apple fritters, donut holes, it goes on and on. They also have several breakfast sandwiches that seem to be popular (almost everyone else in line was ordering one along with donuts). Parking lot is a little weird but your in and out pretty quick so it's doable. read more

Came all the way from Western Virginia for the Louisville Slugger Museum and to pick up some Ale 81. Discovered King Doughnuts on this trip and added to another reason to come back to Louisville. This small donut shop packs some good flavor and has a mix of the classics along with a few more unique types...like the strawberry donut, peanut butter with chocolate, and cereal-topped donuts. Prices are competitive and the staff are always nice, albeit sometimes hard to understand. There are a couple of tiny tables but eating here would be awkward. They are open "late" for a small donut shop, meaning you might be able to stop in after work for a treat before they close. Try the strawberry...its surprisingly sweet and tart! read more

Quite possibly the best donut shop ever! Donuts are light and fluffy. Haven't tried a donut or pastry here that I didn't like! My all time faves are the chocolate glaze donut and cream cheese danish. Super cheap and fast, King Donuts is a must have! We tend to go here at least once a week. read more

I love King Donuts and I am spoiled by them being so close to my house. I stoped a few times a week and get a couple of dozen donuts for work. I now get requests to bring certain types in because they are everyone's favorites. The staff is helpful and friendly. If they are out a filled type, they will make one up for you. They also have Thai Iced Coffee and Tea and breakfast sandwiches. I highly recommend this spot. read more

King Donuts has the best donuts in town. They're better than Voodoo Donuts. They're fresh, fluffy, and full of flavor. They also have a huge variety of different ones that make our picky kids happy. It doesn't stop there, they have breakfast sandwiches that are to die for, built on heaven...also known as a fresh croissant. We got a dozen variety donuts and 3 bacon, sausage, egg on s croissant. This place never lets us down. Can't wait to go back next week. read more

Awesome to have a donut place back in the neighborhood. Great donuts. I had a chocolate Boston cream and a chocolate frosted. Daughter had a pink icing frosted donut that tasted like strawberries and a chocolate frosted donut with sprinkles. All were great. I think the Cappachino machine may be the hot chocolate that's advertised on the board. Hard to tell because nothing on it said "hot chocolate". We'll find out if my daughter is bouncing of the wall later. read more

The gold standard for donuts for me are Krispy Kreme donuts. There is nothing like their regular glazed donuts fresh out of the fryer: soft, yeasty, pillowy, sweet treats as soft as baby bottoms. I don't care about any of their other donuts honestly. No other donuts has come close to this .... until now. I have been to King donuts twice now and their donuts are very good. Make sure to ask for the warm glazed ones, they are slightly different from KK donuts but just as delicious. Btw, their croissants are good too. I don't know (and don't care) about any of their other donuts. I believe the owners are Thai? This would explain the Thai ice tea and Asian flavored smoothies they are also offering. The Thai ice tea is also quite good and the smoothies are next on my to try list. Service is friendly and efficient. I love this store and will probably get my donuts here now instead of KK (I still like KK but this is closer to home AND has Asian smoothies). read more

Great family run donut shop! I ordered 12 donuts and 2 breakfast sandwiches and price was $14!! Great value and everything was delicious. Service was very fast. Good doughnuts and iced coffee! The cream cheese filled was our favorite with the maple glazed being a close second. I asked for black iced coffee and got it sweetened. Not what I wanted, but it tasted great. We felt rushed as we were trying to order and we wished the doughnuts were labeled since this was our first time. They didn't seem as fresh as some other doughnut shops in town, but it's fun to have a doughnut shop so close and the staff so friendly! read more

I can't tell you how many times I've driven past King Donuts and paid it no attention. That recently changed when my daughter and I were on the way to the park down the street and wanted a sweet treat. Even past peak morning donut time they had a huge selection. Been going there for two years. Same order ever Sunday. But over the past three months the cost has been going up. Until last week. The person ahead of me ordered the same order I do and added a bottled soda. The were charged $9.20. I gave them my order and was charged $16. I didn't have a drink. I got a dozen donuts from here and they had a huge variety but I completely forgot to take pictures of the place and my dozen donuts. The star of this place is definitely the cake donuts because they are perfectly soft and fluffy on the inside with a little crunch on the outside just the way I like them. I wasn't a fan of the other donuts because the dough was a little too yeasty for me but I do like their wide variety of glazes and toppings. (Hopefully the menu items don't change TOO often. It would be a headache to write all that stuff down regularly!) I opted for a spicy roast beef sandwich (exactly what I don't remember. I've slept since then). You can also get chips or one of a few types of home made salads (think macaroni salad, potato salad, etc) or cole slaw. I'm a HUGE fan of cole slaw, and in the case it looked delicious and peppery (like me). While they were making our sandwiches we chatted with the owners a bit and they seem like really nice, down-to-earth people. The told us how some of the menu options got their names and a little history of the business. It's really nice to to be able to chat with the owners. It wasn't long before our food was ready. My wife had, basically, a Rueben minus the sauerkraut (I hate that stuff) and a bag of chips. We both got a bottle of water. Our total was about $38. I've seen a number of reviewers comment on the cost of their meals. We had no complaints at all. They're serving Boar's Head meats, which a higher class/higher quality than most restaurants go near. You're also paying for locally, home made foods. I'm willing to bet that not a single food item came ready-made out of a jug or a box that came from Gordon's food. This is genuine food made with care and pride by the owners themselves. There's a small seating are behind the counter area and a much larger seating area outside, but the weather wasn't suited for such chicanery. We REALLY enjoyed our first visit to Boone's Deli. I think they've got a great product and I hope they stay around a long time.

It's the Little Yellow House that is so quaint. The Owner is Susan Woodward, and she is such a hard worker! Donna, our Server was fantastic! She answered every question, knew everything about every sandwich, every soup and every dessert. She had the fastest assistants that brought us our drinks and kept our glasses filled and delivered our food. Their menu is very well laid out and full of the most amazing lunches. I didn't need to go past the Hot Brown! My husband and I both ordered Hot Browns. This is our very favorite item! It was delicious. There was a lot of tender turkey, covered with the best tasting Mornay Sauce and topped with beautiful tomatoes. I'm sorry there wasn't enough room to get up and take pictures of everyone's food. I did get a picture of our Hot Brown and our friend's Meatloaf and Chili. You'll just need to stop by and have hunch with them. And don't forget to check out their desserts. We called ahead to ask about the breakfast hours and had just a few minutes to get there before the breakfast cut-off. Living very close by, we arrived just a minute or two after the cut-off and were graciously served a wonderful breakfast. There is something for everyone on the breakfast menu and everything that we had was delicious.
