My wife and I ate there tonight and we were highly disappointed. Food was great, service not so much. It took over 30 minutes for our food to come out and when it came out we were missing items. Server was very apologetic and told us management would be over to do something for us. The manager came over and asked if our food tasted alright and went on his way. We weren't expecting for our food to be comped, but a little more concern would've been nice. We paid for our bill in full and left the server a $10 tip because our server was the only one really showing concern. As we were leaving i approached the manager to explain to him why we were upset, instead of apologizing and acknowledging that there was an issue he had a nonchalant attitude and made excuses as to why our service was poor. Stayed In Florence overnight at the Hyatt on our way back to NJ from Florida. Searched Yelp for a quick dinner before bed. My wife and I really like Tacos so we selected and called King Jefe for take out. When I entered the restaurant I stood by the cash register and was ignored by the staff that looked to be busy with customers. It was quite awhile before I was able to get someone to notice I was standing there. I was told someone will take care of me and I waited further. People who came in behind me started to congregate creating no social distancing what so ever. I was wearing a double mask but was feeling very uncomfortable since all customers had no masks on and no tables were spaced for any social distancing. A young man came from the back and started to hand out bags of take out to people who came in after me. In doing so he gave my bag to a family with children who handled the bags and swinging them around while looking to see what's inside. My take out was among the bags handled. Upon realizing that he gave them my bag of take out he then handed it to me. Considering that I wasn't very comfortable in this place and that they had no regard to the Covid pandemic I refused to take the bag and asked for a replacement order. The manager came over and was immediately rude and arrogant with me for asking for new food to be prepared. He reluctantly took my take out and walked towards the kitchen, I followed to make sure that he in fact would be replacing my order. He became very confrontational and removed his mask and repeatedly yelled into my face, clearly to intimidate me while seeing that I wanted him to back off. I felt threatened by his actions. Upon receiving my new order I asked to see the previous order, since I did not trust his intentions at this point. Again he had issues and removed his mask again when speaking very loudly to me. I didn't understand his belligerent position since it was clearly their fault for all the nonsense that transpired. By the way, the food was not anything special to go through this hassle as we realized later. I would give this Covid Spreader no stars if I could. Very disappointed and when returning to Florence will never set foot in this place again. It was Monday evening 1/25. Stay away if you value your health and safety. read more

Really liked this place. Off the beaten, right off the Interstate, path and not a disgusting chain place. I ordered the swami and the Cheech and both were delicious. Everyone we were with either liked or loved what they ordered. The margaritas were also very good. So was the street corn. read more

Do you like happiness topped with hot sauce? Then go to King Jefe. I'd give them 5 stars for their cucumber margarita alone, but the food was amazing. I ate the Cheech and The Chong, (because what's one without the other?) and my husband had the Slow Poke Rodriguez and the Uncle Terry and all were really, really tasty. We both got chorizo mac n cheese on the side, oh my gosh, so good, and our toddler got the chicken and rice bowl. The waitress was great at anticipating our needs, (she brought our sons meal first) and we got great service, even though it was a busy Friday night. The atmosphere and the service are what you would expect from the guys who brought you Tubb's. I think because of that, I was expecting something spectacular for my first time there. The Nacho's were great to look at but lacked the meat and melted cheese which is a "hero" of the dish. I had both versions of the shrimp tacos and was kind of disappointed in the lack of meat and filling. For the price I was charged, I would expect more. All in all a nice experience, but they will need to up their game when it comes the quality of food I have come to expect from them. This is my new favorite place in Florence. Our first time there. The waitress was so sweet and helpful! The decor is Nacho libre meets Dia de Los Muertos. Impeccably clean! We each got 2 tacos and a side. The food was phenomenal! Chorizo Mac and cheese was our favorite! Baked and served in a mini cast iron skilled. Not sure what all the fuss is about..this place is just OK. Tacos are way overpriced....$4 for a small Taco. The drinks are good and they have a good variety. I actually had the steak quesadilla which was a good size for the price ($5..99) but the flavor wasn't there. It was rather bland and pretty much tasted like salt. I expected the steak to have more flavor but it tasted like it was seasoned with salt and then on top of the cheese it was just too salty. Florence doesn't have many options like this but I personally prefer a traditional Mexican restaurant. read more
