This business has been a nightmare to deal with! The owner of the business died from Covid a couple years ago, and it's Jackie, the wife of the deceased, Angie, the daughter, and Sammie, the son in law running the business. They rarely ever answer their business phone, and all communication is done via email by the daughter who does it from home. The daughter claims that they had several techs when I first made my $9,100 deposit on April 12, 2024, and now they only have the son in law, who was rarely ever there doing any work. They made the mistake of getting greedy and overbooked themselves, and, unlike the founder of Gilson's Auto Body, they have no idea how to run a business. Every time I contacted the daughter by email, I was simply strung along with excuses and lies. I told them they should have refunded my money when they realized they were overbooked instead of keeping my vehicle indefinitely without it getting repaired or giving me a completion date. But Angela, the daughter, tried to gaslight me by telling me I was the only customer that wasn't patient and compassionate, despite the many negative reviews they've gotten over the past 2 years. But, after over 6 weeks of waiting for them to even start working on my truck, I finally had enough and on Friday July 5th I filed a complaint with the New Mexico Justice Department Consumer Complaint Division. The following Monday, they sent out a group email to all of their customers that they are closing their business for good and will be locking their gates and appts must be made to pick up vehicles. But I had to threaten that I'd bring a police escort if they didn't allow me to pick up my truck and they finally let me pick it up on July 11, 7 weeks after I originally dropped it off! In the email notice, they also stated that they plan to refund deposits to all their customers, but it could take up to 90 days because they first have to sell their building and business to be able to get the money to pay customers their money back! They also threatened to file bankruptcy if anyone tried to force them to give them their money back before 90 days! This business is not only dishonest, but they are fraudulent. They take your money and make promises they can't keep! Then they spend your money and aren't able to pay you back when they fail to complete the services that they promised to do. If they don't return my $9,100 deposit within the next 30 days, I will be taking them to court and filing a lien against their property and business! read more

Had my truck for 67 days and never touched it. There hardly ever open. Been lied to all this time. Do NOT do business with this company. They have no direction of what to do. A young manager has no managerial skills at long. I don't think they will be in business much longer. Stay away from if you need something done. You will never get on time. Okay. Where to begin ? I took my small car to Gilson's to be painted and to have the bumpers installed, for which I had the parts. I brought the car there in October of 2023. I made a down payment on the total. Gilson's call me in December and said they need more money to buy paint so I paid them almost the entire balance of the bill in December. By January and February, my car was still not painted. Finally, in March of 2024, six months and six thousand dollars later, the car rolled out of Gilson's. They did not bother to put the windshield wipers back on. When I took the car to get gas, I learned too late that Gilson's had painted over the hood seem so when I opened the hood to put gas in the car, the new 6000 dollar paint job chipped. I came home to install some emblems and a small piece of glue got onto the paint. I went scrap it off with my fingernail, and my fingernail took the paint off the car. The paint job which was supposed to include coats of lacquer for which I paid was in fact paper thin. The bumpers for which I gave them the parts were not installed properly. This is my favorite auto shop. Mike is an honest and very reasonable person. The receptionist Liza is also very charming and efficient.

Back in October I was hit by a semi-truck while my own car was stuck on the side of the road. Luckily my car only ended up having body damage. Dealing with the semi-truck's insurance has been a pain and they wanted me to go somewhere to get a quote. I decided to go here due to the fact it's locally owned (I had called another place and they refused to give me a quote because they didn't feel it was worth their time) I explained my situation and that I needed a quote for the insurance company. Very professional, I had a quote within minutes and what's more it was an honest quote. (It was around what I had already estimated myself from my own research). I really didn't want to have to total my car so I was happy to have a nice conservative quote so that I can get my car that I love very much fixed, and when I do get it fixed I will be coming here! read more

I took my car in with a minor dent on the back lift gate. When they called me to tell me my car was ready there were scratches in the paint , my back up camera and my radio was now not working. After bringing it in a second time they said they would just be switching out a camera and redoing some codes and charged my insurance for the camera, yet it still couldn't get anything working inside of the car. After a month of no backup camera or radio, I asked them to please get it working and they sent my car to Larry h miller where it is still sitting after two and a half months. I'm beyond pissed at the inconvenience this has caused. Many many lost working hours, miles on my husbands car driving back and forth a ridiculous amount of gas to take m places I also have to go. We live in the mountains so this is not just an easy situation. No one has tried to make this right, I've called to ask when I'm getting my car back and they don't know. Turns out my entire audio system and radio is fried and the parts are god knows where and I am still with no car, and no help from them to make this right. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had. Do not come here. What is a small easy fix will turn into a nightmare for you. read more

Very rude, horrible customer service. Had some stuff sent here by the dealership and they were supposed to call to let us know when it was done and we never heard back. We tried calling and the owner was very short and impolite over the phone and said he would call us when it was done. Never heard back. Came in to pick up said item because we don't want to deal with them putting it on for us and they made every excuse how it was our fault. Never took responsibility for the situation.
