Ordered hibachi shrimp lunch combo to go. The shrimp and vegetables were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The rice was good. The salad had dressing on side and miso soup was on point. It came with sauce and a to go cup of water. They will be my to go place for hibachi as well as sushi. My girlfriend and I ordered food and 3 out of the 5 entrées had multiple pieces of hair in them. The very first bite of sushi she took had a hair in it. At first, we honestly weren't upset -- things happen -- but after finding a fourth hair, she called very politely just to ask if there was anything that could be done and even apologized for bothering them. The manager's response completely shocked both of us. He started the call with "listen, girl," then raised his voice at her and insisted she was wrong. It was incredibly uncomfortable and disrespectful to hear someone speak to her that way. I was honestly really upset and disappointed by how the situation was handled. We used to frequent King Kong Sushi, and it was one of our favorite spots. After this experience -- both the food quality and the way she was treated as a paying customer -- we won't be returning. Just left King Kong in Carolina Forest. I've eaten there at minimum 5x over the past 8 months. They have recently increased their prices to unreasonable rates and shrunk their sushi sizes. My wife and I each had 10 pieces (5 orders) of Nigiri and zero alcohol. The cost was OVER $110!!! In the past this same order was $70 and we would leave completely full. That was not case tonight as we were both still hungry based the new smaller sizes! This is a new location for this restaurant and it is very roomy. The hibachi chicken is great. It is served with rice, veggies and soup and salad. The sushi is always fresh and there are so many special rolls to choose from. The service was good. My only complaint is that if you order as a couple the food comes out on one plate and you only get enough wasabi and ginger for one person. The waitress brought more but we had to ask. I know this may not be a concern to some but it was a surprise to us. I think you probably could ask for separate plates if you know this and if it bothers you. read more

I've dined here over 100 times, used to be a weekly Date spot. Pre covid this place was hands down the best sushi in horry county, sadly it's only gone downhill since. They now have stickers on their menu that all sales are final so I'm assuming that means don't complain about what you order so I'm bringing my complaints here. Ordered salmon tempura roll, the salmon was gooey instead of crispy like it used to be, also got the 007 roll that's supposed to be topped with half the roll was missing avocado and none of it had teriyaki on it. We also got the frosty roll, half of which had no shrimp and one piece had a shrimp tail. It's sad to see such a good place go downhill but my last 3 experiences here were horrible so I'm going to be supporting other sushi business in the area for a while before I even try to come back(if I ever come back). read more

We ordered the tuna tataki, seaweed salad, house salad with ginger dressing, two New York rolls, two Miami rolls, and a ribeye, chicken and shrimp hibachi. We live in Murrells Inlet and drive all the way to Carolina Forest just to eat here because of the quality and the price! Sushi was delicious! It tasted very fresh and cut well. My husband and I ordered the big combo for $50 that comes with an soup/salad, 1 appetizer, 1 nigiri, 2 special rolls, and 3 regular rolls. All our rolls were awesome. The appetizer selection was a fail, I selected the bulgogi lettuce wraps but the flavor was very sweet and strange, not as expected. The service was great but upon entrance to the store no one greeted or helped us be seated for about 4-5 minutes, an awkwardly long time. My wife and I came here last week when we were on vacation since it got pretty good reviews. Our lunch was surprisingly mediocre, we ordered the King Kong sushi roll, Hibachi Vegetables, Chicken Katsu, Shrimp Appetizer, and Smoked Duck breast app. Everything was terrible other then the Chicken Katsu which my wife and son thought were ok. The duck breast was very dry and the sushi roll was giant but the flavor was probably one of the top 5 worst sushi rolls i've had lifetime and i've had LOTS of sushi. The server also brought out the wrong sushi roll and seemed annoyed when I told her she didn't bring what I ordered. Meal price was about $85 after tip, I would definitely pass on this place unless you are just looking for some big sushi rolls to fill you up. Be prepared to be overwhelmed in the best way.
