We really wanted to like this place after reading a number of very good reviews. Unfortunately, while nothing was bad, nothing was great either, it was just okay. The ambiance is very casual and the service was quick and friendly. My lunch special portions (clam strips and popcorn shrimp with fries and gumbo/rice) were large. The gumbo was very good, but everything else just meh. My husband had the grilled redfish special with Cole slaw and hush puppies. The redfish was good, but the portion was on the small size. I read several good reviews here and stopped for lunch. I went in and said I would like to have lunch and I have a service dog. The worker pushed back saying no dogs. Then she read me the memo from the health department which said no dogs, but , service dogs are allowed. I showed her the dog's ID card which she took to Mrs Fish who was in the kitchen. She came back and said I could sit at first table. We have been to several restaurants in MB and dog has been welcomed. Not sure what the problem was here. I ordered blackened mahi mahi with 2 sides, fries and gumbo with rice. I was very disappointed with my meal, the fish was not good , didn't taste grilled but just topped with seasonings, fries were oily and gumbo was sweet. My meal cost $22.30, so not worth it. read more

An amazing mom and pop place. It's been there for 26 years. You need to look for it,but it's worth it. Great service, great food. The atmosphere is totally small town mom and pop. This restaurant is an amazing little spot in town that you absolutely must try any time of the year. The owner is also the chef and he pours his heart and soul in every dish he prepares for ya. The wait staff is attentive and extremely friendly with extensive menu knowledge. The ambiance is just perfect with a subtle beach theme and comfortable seating. All the fried fish and fries were delicious. We also had the crab cakes and shrimp. The star of the show was the coconut shrimp appetizer. Been wanting ot go to Mrs. Fish since I visited my mom this fall. Because of the off season the restaurant was only open until certain times, so it may it difficult to visit. However, because of their great menu and prices I knew eventually I would make it here! So, my mom and I went for it on a hot and sweltering day we entered Mrs. Fish. The restaurant was empty except for a couple of people and we were warmly greeted by our waiter James. My mom decided to get the fried grouper with green beans and hush puppies. I got the blackened grouper with green beans, coleslaw, and hush puppies. The grouper surprised me as it had a mild and sweet taste--very delicious! The fried grouper batter was super light and had a nice crunch to it. Blackened was not very salty and had a great taste as well popped well with the Tatar sauce that tasted homemade. The green beans were obviously canned, but washed and with a little salt and pepper paired well. The hushpuppies were delightful and not overly greasy or salty. The coleslaw could've used some tlc as it was not creamy or flavorful at all. Minus one star for the coleslaw and the bathrooms that need some updating. The service was great though as James was so kind and made us feel right at home. Will be back for more Fish and hushpuppies!! read more

Attentive service, which is appropriate since we were the only people here at 4:30 PM. Yeah, that Waffle House was at 9am and we skipped lunch. I got a beer, Mrs. K. got a sweet tea. And yes, I had to open the beer myself because beer licensing reasons. Fine. I chose the shrimp tacos. They were decent with a zesty sauce on tortillas that were meh. The cole slaw was the hit here - very crisp and strong on vinegar. Delicious. Mrs. K. chose a shrimp hoagie and it was also flavorful. More of that great cole slaw but we also went with the fresh hand cut fries ($1.25 upcharge) and they were awesome. Crisp and delicious and I put just a little ketchup on mine. Now, I'm not going to accuse Mrs. Fish of using frozen or not fresh shrimp. But the shrimp on our plates were each the exact same size. I'm not sure. But they were shelled and veined and had a nice crunch to them. I'd have expected a more random sizing. But I'm no seafood expert. Overall good. Tip: Get the hoagie and ask for it toasted. The waiter was a local and provided information about the beach and local shops. The fried shrimp sandwich was really tasty. At first I thought it was plain because the sandwich had no sauce just toasted bread and the shrimp but I was wrong, the sandwich definitely wasn't plain! Grabbed lunch here during a quick rain fall on our 4th of July vacay. The grilled mahi mahi and shrimp were delicious. My husband and I got Cajun seasoning and it did not disappoint. We were looking for a good fish place on our trip to Myrtle beach and we found it. I got the grouper and it was cooked perfectly! This little gem doesn't look like much from the exterior but trust me the fish is awesome! My grouper tasted like it was caught that morning super light and fresh! They also have fresh cut fries a huge bonus and they were hot! My only slight critique would be the hush puppies. The tables were arranged for social distancing and I appreciated the disposable plates for safety. You have to pay a little more for the hand cut fries but it was totally worth it. Although members of my party was not expecting the battered fish, they were pleased. The menu had something for everyone in our party, including a child that did not eat seafood. (We certainly felt bad for coming that late and expressed our apologies numerous times). The host/waiter was kind, polite and attentive and knowledgeable about the menu as well. Food: 100/10. Wow. We ordered the hush puppies, popcorn shrimp, crab legs and blackened mahi mahi. The hush puppies were not greasy at all and full of flavor. The popcorn shrimp and fries were crispy, not too bready and perfectly seasoned. The mahi mahi and crab legs were exceptional. Hole in the wall type joint. Doesn't look great from the outside but worth a try. Parking spots out front or along the road. Not a very large dining area, around 10 tables. Started with a crab cake appetizer. It wasn't very big but it tasted good and not too bready. Ordered the fried sea scallops with fried shrimp. I thought the scallops were amazing. The outside breading was very addicting. My gf did note that the batter or breading did not stick to the scallops which could refer to the way it was prepared and fried. Nonetheless I thought it was just the right amount of breading and frying. I got the grilled grouper and grilled shrimp and I liked my dish a lot esp the grouper. My gf got fries and hush puppies as her sides and they were normal. I got hush puppies and rice. The rice with its topping was surprisingly tasty.
