We came here on Tuesday April 22, 2025. I was beyond hungry! I have eaten here before and I had no issues with the food. I had the fish and chips, and a side salad; he ordered wings with old bay seasoning. Our server was WONDERFUL! First, bring cash or use the free ATM near the video games to get cash. See the picture of the receipt showing what they charge if you are using credit/debit cards. It's a 3% up charge. I went and got cash..... because WHY!!???? Anyway, buyer be aware that there is a charge to charge. It is possible that this is happening across the area. Anyway, the food came out fast. The wings were "double" seasoned or over seasoned. So much so, the blue cheese sauce was necessary in order to eat them. Otherwise, the "scald" was great. The fish was good as well, not over seasoned. The salad dressing was good, possibly house made. But the salad, while perfectly fresh, it was over "peppered." This coming from a pepper lover. It was fresh cracked pepper and initially it was not a problem, but then I kept coughing and realized it was REALLY peppered. I ate it but the next person may not. The Ranch dressing helped. I would not recommend this location based on our experience. We were told the wait would be 45 minutes, and while we were eventually seated, everything after that went downhill. We placed our full order quickly, including two waters and a fish bowl. One water arrived with half‑melted ice and tasted like watered‑down, old Sprite. The fish bowl never arrived. It took about 30 minutes just to get our server's attention again to request another water and ask about the missing drink. Our appetizer came out with no plates or utensils. Then we waited an hour for food. Some tables around us received their meals while others didn't, even though it was a Tuesday around 2 p.m. and the restaurant wasn't busy. We finally asked to just pay for the appetizer and drinks. The manager was polite and comped the bill, saying our food was "just being plated." Another 15 minutes passed with nothing. When we finally received our food to go, it was obvious it had been rushed. My 6‑year‑old's kids' burger was raw and cold in the middle, which is completely unsafe. After an hour I went to ask how much longer and the 3 girls at the front where super rude and one of them wanted to talk over the other and said very rudely we told you hour and 30mins. I decided to order the big kid chicken tenders because what piqued my interest was the ability to have them tossed in wing sauce. I picked the soy garlic flavor and when I tell you these were the best tenders I've ever had! As my sides I went with onion rings (upcharge) and French fries. Walked in for a late dinner (around 9pm) on Saturday night. Got table right away as it was not too busy. They had tables on the deck too by the water. The restaurant was clean, a big bar in the front, lots of TVs in the dining hall. The menu had lots of appetizers, entrees including tacos, burgers, sandwiches and salads. Surprisingly they had a sushi menu, and there was a sushi master station across the bar. Per waiter's suggestion we got the Mexican roll that turned out to be really good. I was impressed with their sushi quality. I got the mahi mahi taco for entree as well. It was a decent pair of taco, the fish was cooked well, the tacos could have been better quality. We were visiting from out of town and had seen this place on a few different lists and saw it had good reviews, so we figured we ought to check it out. It is worth noting that we visited during the first week of February, which is the very tail end of the off-season for Myrtle Beach. There were four people in our party. We did not have to wait for a table. Once seated, we were quickly greeted by our server. She brought waters and showed us how to find the beer list. We all ordered a beer from their decently sized beer menu. We also ordered Crab Dip to start with. The three of us that eat seafood devoured the dip in no time. For dinner, I ordered a Poguelandia Burger, medium rare, with tots. The burger was cooked to my liking and was a great medly of flavors. This was another item that was devoured in no time. I got here and the wait was already very long. When we finally sat down the service was good and appetizers arrived quickly. However, they were mediocre at best. The nachos are stale, the fried pickles are soggy, and the drinks lack taste. The main courses took forever to get here and they were not at all worth the wait. The chicken tastes pretty good but it's too dry. For whatever reason the sauce is all over the bottom of the tray but nowhere to be seen on the chicken. The environment is nice and all but if you have to sit outside water leaks through the roof. I see why this place is called Grumpy Monk, I was grumpy when I left after waiting ages for such mid food. It's not even that the food is bad, it's just the fact that I waited so long outside with crappy air conditioning for okay food. After seeing a few TikToks about Grumpy Monk we decided to give it a try. There was a wait which we were fine with because it was prime dinner time. We were sat outside where you get a view of Broadway on the Beach. Here's where things went downhill. I have a severe food allergy and if that can't be accommodated properly this effects my experience greatly. Once I told the waiter and they checked with the kitchen this eliminated about 85% of the menu for me. Everything is fried in the same oil or had cross contamination. Not good. I opted for Mahi Mahi tacos which I was assured would be grilled and safe. That was not the case I started having mild symptoms immediately and when we left I began to get completely sick. We had to leave and didn't get to experience the rest of Broadway on the Beach on our last night in Myrtle Beach. Every year this location just keeps getting worse. Such good memories of this place in past years and now it's just a waste of our time. This location closes at 10pm and we try to get a table(in an empty restaurant) at 8:15 and the hostesses tell us it will be a 1 hour 20 min wait. We look into the restaurant and there are literally 2 families in the entire place. We didn't stop in right before closing. Last year they were out of soda.
