We've been coming to this King Kullen since we moved to RVC in 2014. They're always well-stocked. And, as quite a few people have mentioned, their prices are a bit high. Sometimes the deli staff don't look too happy being there. Sometimes they look like they really don't want to look up and address you as a customer. The store is always very clean and smells good. I have fond memories of of a bakery from the 70s and before called Ebinger's. Their blackout cake (so-called because it was named when NYC and other areas were required to keep most night lighting to a minimum during WWII) was fantastic with chocolate pudding and crumb coating. A neighbor mentioned this store carried something similar. I visited the store and they said they didn't have any at the time, but could order it and have it ready for pick up the next morning. Excellent! Picked up my 13" cake the next day. It was fantastic. I will definitely order it again. Best $22. I've spent. I recommend ordering one. You won't be sorry. Tell them you saw it on Yelp. One more thing. I really wish the cashiers would be told to greet the customer with at least a minimal, "Hi" and a "Thank you." There is usually an awkward silence, so the customer fills the gap with a thank you, which really SHOULD be coming from the cashier. I have to say for a neighborhood grocery it is maintained very well!! The store is very clean. They have an incredible produce department. Every kind of produce you would want, and the staff in produce can't do enough for you!! Deli also the staff cant do enough. Ask how thin or thick you want your cold cut etc. Always looking to go the extra mile!! The store itself is always stocked. I've never been there when they weren't. It's very clean as well!!! Having just arrived at the hotel in Rockville Centre, I was too early to check in for my room and was on the hungry side since I only had a cup of coffee before making the trek out to the Island. Fortunately, the immediate vicinity of the hotel was rife with restaurants and pubs but I wasn't looking for something super big and was only seeking a sandwich of some kind. The desk staff at the hotel said that they always order such things from the King Kullen that stands directly in front of the hotel so over there I headed. At a quick glance the store is loaded with everything you expect in a large grocery store and I don't think this company is in Brooklyn anymore since the one we had closed quite a few years ago. Now since I was on a sandwich mission, I didn't really peruse the aisles as diligently as I might have as a regular shopper. As I walked in I saw a sizable deli counter with a number of store staff all taking care of any customers who needed these offerings and when the next person was available they said they could make me a sandwich of whatever I felt like having. I kept it to a simple salami and provolone since my folks were in the same hotel and had said we would all grab dinner at around 5:30. That was too long a wait for any sustenance for me and while I should have asked for this on a roll as opposed to a hero, the sandwich surely did the trick. It was rather large so half of it went into the hotel room fridge and was finished the day after the Wedding. In a nutshell if you find yourself in the same situation as I was this is a proper option for you. They have a lot of different cold cuts on hand and since its a supermarket you have your choice of chips and soft drinks if you were adding that to the mix. read more

If I had to use just one phrase to summarize the description of this KK, I'd have to quote J Lennon describing Paul's grandfather "(It's) very clean". I never saw an expired item (I've taken this for granted until surveying the Bellmore KK smh). They have their own deli, butcher shop, fish dept and bakery. Excellent customer service. The butcher shop is the most dependable in the area, as I remember returning spoiled meat to a nearby competitor. The produce, however, needs improvement with wilted cilantro and parsley and higher prices. There is a bathroom near the dairy section. They have a very large organic produce section which I think has been a unique feature of KK. Their self service registers aren't as glitchy as some markets'. During peak shopping times the isles are clear of boxes to avoid crowding. The most pricey market, not perfect, but very dependable. read more

Hi folks! Welcome to Downtown Rockville Centre, Long Island. I have never appreciated A well-stocked western-style Supermarket MORE...then after having moved to Flushing. King Kullen is exactly the type of well-stocked supermarket that I require to fill my present day grocery list. Now, that I'm doing most of the week's shopping right here. It's a pleasure to stop at this King Kullen. They offer a clean, customer friendly environment where you can relax, slow down and fill your pantry up. There are so many name brand & special items that I grew up with that I can't find anymore in supermarkets in my Flushing hometown. I'm so happy I can find everything that I need right here. Like 2 ply toilet paper, real maple syrup, Jif peanut butter, rib-eye.. porterhouse or any western-style meat cut. Any type of refrigerated dressings like Marie's. The Vine ripened tomatoes were just 99 cents lb last week. I love their farm picked white/ yellow corn (5 pack for just $3.99.) Flavored coffee creamer. I'm just getting started. I'd love some name brand potato chips. As I walked around the King Kullen I was reminded of how many items I had been doing without. Captain Crunch, Little Debbie's. Wow, and if you wanted cakes or pies, there bakeries stretched as far as the eye could see. I love their homemade pecan pies (1/2 for$3.99).. with ice cream. King Kullen brand (2) 1/2 gal containers for $5. I got the pistachio/ chip mint. The best! It's a little more pricey here then some of the stores in Flushing, but it's so neat, clean and well-lit here. Everyone here is friendly, helpful and welcoming. (Not always in Flushing) Most importantly ,you can find everything that you need Under One Roof and not having to run around to find every little thing is wonderfully convenient. Great, when it comes to saving time. I think it's cool that as soon as I'm done unloading my groceries in the car the cart guy is right there to take my cart back to the Corral. I don't like to complain, but I need to say something about the RUDEST most condescending lady that looms over the self checkout area. She has the worst attitude of any worker I have ever had the displeasure of encountering. She is in the CUSTOMER SERVICE industry and should act accordingly. My husband, as well as another family member complained to me about her last week. I cannot let her attitude slide. She should maybe rethink her choice of jobs or get an attitude adjustment because she is literally reason enough for me to not want to shop there. read more

ME HATE KING KULLEN AND all of the grocery stores in Rockville Centre. I find it baffling that there is not 1 decent grocery store in this area. We've got nice restaurants, bars and shops - how is there not a decent food store around here?!? We moved in over 1 year ago and I tried. I tried so hard to force myself to kind of like King Kullen. As a child my mom shopped at King Kullen and then the beloved Stop and Shop opened and changed everything. So circle back fifteen years when I move back to LI, I am once again face to face with King Kullen and not too happy about it. So, like I said I tried to l deal with it and it's olden look and feel..... I lasted 6 months. After 6 months I opted as always to just give Amazon my money and pay for Amazon Fresh and their food delivery (15$ per month). Is it a tad bit pricier? Yes, just a snad bc King Kullen is overpriced! Is it more convenient - heck yes bc my food gets delivered to my doorstep while I am at work. Does Amazon now have free Whole Foods delivery - yes, yes it does. I find King Kullen to be a bit more expensive overall, and their sales are just alright. The fruit and vegetable section is outstanding, again a bit pricier than other supermarkets. The staff in that section are great, friendly and knowledgeable. read more

Somehow this store has managed to be worse after the remodel. There seems to be less, of well...everything. The bakery is half the size of what it once was. There's a lot of stuff they don't seem to make anymore. Especially missed are the vegetable boards also known as Focaccia bread. They also rarely have big message cookies in stock. The bakery is a joke now. I went there today thinking they'd have some nice stuff there for the Superbowl and Valentine's Day, nope! No special cakes. Just some tiny cupcakes. I have seen outdated food as well. Lets go beyond the bakery now. Produce is hit or miss. You have to check and make sure it's fresh, some look dried out and rotted. Even for packaged foods there's a lot they don't carry. And even on the Friday evening before the Superbowl in busy RVC, this King Kullen was dead. I guess most folks in Rockville Centre probably shop elsewhere, can't blame them when you have two Stop & Shops and a new Amazon Fresh just down the road in Oceanside. Still, you'd think in Rockville Centre proper they'd have a decent supermarket. This King Kullen has let me down too many times. When you walk in you can tell it's struggling and they're making cutbacks everywhere, the bakery, produce, stock, and even registers open, but with the lack of customers here that isn't really much of a problem. King Kullen has been dying a slow death on Long Island. And if the chain doesn't want to put the money into it anymore, they should just close and let another supermarket take it's place. Rockville Centre would be much better served with a Shop-Rite, Stop & Shop, heck even an Uncle Guiseppe. It's a shame this King Kullen is the way it is, because the staff are friendly, and it used to actually be a pretty good store, but has gone downhill after the remodel which like I said in the beginning, seems to have given us less of...everything. read more

The cashiers at this king kullen location need better training in customer service. Ii encountered an impatient one while attempting to checkout at one of the self check out stations. There is no need to go into the exact experience. Just be aware this cashier was working the self check out stations Wednesday December 9 between 6-630 pm. I'm hoping management reads YELP reviews. If this cashier was rude to me, how many other customers is she rude to? How many othe customers experience this impatient cashier and say nothing? I did say something to her but I doubt she heard me through my mask. And if she did hear me, she probably didn't give a damn. It is clean and it is open 24 hrs and that is why I give this well stocked King Kullen 5 solid stars. Oh, and when they have a sale they have a sale, Usually junk food - like today 2 liter Coke was 12 for 12 bucks ( we do not drink soda, so this sale means nothing to me) My point, is that it tends to have very good deals for stocking up. Yesterday I was having a terrible day then on top of that I was also having every parent's nightmare.... A screaming child. What made it worse was not that my child was unruly or crazy, but rather was potty training and had to go both 1 & 2 really bad but didn't feel comfortable in public bathrooms. The first person to help me was a lovely gentleman whose name I've forgotten (I'm so sorry) which helped find and get into the bathrooms. Unfortunately my daughter refused to use it. Here is really where all my praise goes to though. The register clerk names Sean. While online my daughter started screaming that she was going to poo and pee herself at the top of her lungs. I felt aweful, I tried comforting her, hugged her, I was embarrassed... But honestly felt worse for my kid who was trying really hard to keep to toilets and not have an accident in her pants. Not once did Sean give me a dirty look. He did his job and sometimes looked over with some sympathy. I asked if I could get offline to try to get her to go in the king kullen bathroom and he said "of course". Upon returning from the bathroom, my daughter still crying and screaming I find that Sean had fully scanned my items, bagged and packed my cart (note this is in the very early stages of the plastic bags being gone and I had bought a contraption from the internet where you put veggies is one bag, Frozen stuff in another etc. and he figured it all out and very sweetly organized everything in my cart). I came back and apologized over and over to Sean for the inconvenience and thanked him for his help, and he was so sweet and was very sympathetic. Please someone from this King Kullen see this and give Sean a raise or an employee of the month or something special because he literally made everything better by just being a great human yesterday. Thank you so much Sean for being awesome and know that it really meant a lot to the mom having a terrible day and the little girl who was scared to use the public toilet that you were so kind and helpful. My first review got removed . I did not say anything wrong or offensive. Possibly THE most expensive supermarket on Long Island (that's NOT a Whole Foods type specialty store). Seriously over-priced . I'm LAUGHING as I see the "$$" rating - means "moderate prices" WHAT!? $5.00 for a bottle of Ocean Spray cranberry juice, Hagan Daas ice cream $5.00 plus, etc. etc. Congested parking lot, security guards and security cars -- very unsavory atmosphere . Surly workers too (although SOME of them are nice). They know they are in a rich neighborhood and they can over-charge as much as they want. And PLEASE remove that "OPEN 24 HOURS " if you are not open 24 hours. False advertising . read more

This king kullen location is pretty mediocre. It's very old and showing it's outdated age. The place is a bit run down and dirty. King kullen's in general are all like this though (I thought they went out of business.) the staff are bland and don't really say much, the parking lot most of all is extremely chaotic as well. read more

One of my fave spots to do get fresh deli cut meat. Prices are a little expensive but as far as the deli department, you cannot beat that. They take their time and slice their cheese and meats just perfectly. As for the rest of the store, the aisles are always neat and cleaned up and items are easy to find. Never eeeeever enough registers open. It could be 7am, noon, 4pm, 11pm, it doesn't matter. The worst.

I was walking through the isles looking for an ingredient (minced garlic), when finally I decided to give up and ask for help. I observed a gentleman putting items on a shelf when I approached him and asked "excuse me, could you tell me where I could find the minced garlic", he answered me in the sharpest, nastiest tone, "Well it wouldn't be over here". "Go look over in produce". This man never even acknowledged me with respect enough to look in my face, he kept right on doing what he was doing, while speaking to me in this unprofessional, disrespectful manor. I later found out through one of the store clerks that he was one of the store managers, Mr. Louis Orpeza. I just want to advise KING KULLEN of who they have REPRESENTING them, and inform and Mr. Orpeza, that in these times CUSTOMER SERVICE is vital. There are many stores closing in the midst of this pandemic and that consumers don't have to shop at KING KULLEN. This lack of respect and professionalism has definitely cost KING KULLEN a consumer. Be careful with the time you come to this King kullen. I called ahead to see what time the deli closed, and the man told me 10PM. I arrived close to 9:45 and ran straight to the deli. Some of the lights were off, and the guys told me that they were closed as I got closer. I asked, "what time does the deli close?" The guy said, '10 o'clock.' I told him that the guy told me the same when I called ahead, and said, "it's not 10 yet." The 2 guys gave me a weird look, and replied, "we've already cleaned all the blades, cause we didn't think anybody else was coming." The prices for everything at King kullen is already more than other supermarkets I frequent, and this just solidified that I will not patronize this place, if I can help it, moving forward! As much as I love this food store, this isn't my place to stock up on my essentials. King Kullen is a bit pricey for a single girl living paycheck to paycheck. It is the closest food store to my apartment right now so, I do find myself coming here more often to pick up quick dinner ingredients. They also double coupons so that is a big help to the coupon cutters, BUT keep an eye on those coupons! My mom had her coupon holder swiped when she turned her back on her shopping cart for a second. True story. This King Kullen is open 24 hours and food shopping at 10:30 on a Friday night is amazing. You have the store practically to yourself. The bakery department at this store is great. They have a great selection and a lot of choices. The deli department is really impressive also. They have a kiosk in which you can place your deli order. It is so easy to use, and you can even select how you'd like your deli meat sliced (thin, thick.) They have the special deli meat/cheese combos that are on sale that week, so you don't even need to look at the circular before hand. I have a little crush on that machine. After your order is placed, a receipt prints out with a number, and you are on with your shopping. A short time later, the annoying King Kullen automated lady announces, "Deli kioski order XXX is now available at the deli counter." AWESOME! We have all waited on the deli line and it seems never ending. With this kiosk you kiss goodbye to line waiting! Hey, if you like to wait and speak to the deli guy, you also have that option. The seafood department is the best around. They have live lobsters! They have sushi! They have seafood salads that are rich and hearty! Also in this department is, hot soup. Soup kettles are set up with three choices of Boston Chowda soups. The soups change up daily. I only have two words. Lobster. Bisque. You must try this soup. It is restaurant quality. The best part is you serve yourself. You can make your soup basically all lobster, with no bisque. I have mastered the lobster to bisque ratio, so sorry if the kettle is just the chowder and no lobster! Kidding! They are always refilling the kettle but they do put it away before 6:30 PM. I used to leave work early just to make sure I made it there in time to get a few containers. The Ben and Jerry's section of the frozen aisle, always has the new, "trendy" flavors . Remember Schweddy Balls? I found it here after an exhausting search! The rest of the store is very clean and the shelves are always filled. I came here on the eve of Hurricane Irene, and there was still water left on the shelves. Staff isn't the friendliest, but not the worst I have encountered. Self check-out makes your life easy as long as you don't have beer. Overall, this is a top notch food store. You also get to rub elbows with some of RVC's upper class after they spent the day at a polo match. You will see lots of sunglasses and Ralph Lauren sweaters wrapped around shoulders! We are visiting town and the store is super convenient to the Hampton Inn. I needed snacks to tied me over until the rest of my family was ready for dinner, so I walked over planning to just buy some cheese. However, Sabra hummus was on sale for $1.99, popcorn for 2/5.00, and carrots for $1.69. Except that, when the clerk rang me up, they weren't...and she had no clue what to do next. After telling her that that changed what I was buying I went back through the store, picking up cheese and pulling the sales flyer price for the products they were advertising as on sale which weren't ringing up that way. When she looked at the tag for the Sabra hummus she commented that it was the wrong size, and that the sale was for the 10 oz size. (Now that I'm back at my hotel room, I can see that it is the 10 oz size). I told her I hadn't checked the ounces, but that the sign ran the length of the Sabra display so if that wasn't what was on sale it was certainly set up to look as though it were. At my request, a manager came over. She immediately said: "Oh, yes, this is supposed to be this price..and what is this supposed to be?" I'm glad she fixed it, but it seemed awfully routine to me, and I feel like they are running specials so people buy stuff, but not giving them the discount unless they notice/complain. It all seemed a little sketchy to me. If you shop here, watch how things ring up. I'd give them a 1 star rating for the experience, but they fixed it and they carry some of the higher end items, which was convenient. read more

I really like the fact that they are open 24 hours a day and that the hire private security to patrol the parking lot. Its nice to park and not worry about your car a 3 or 4 in the morning in RVC. They also have a pretty good selection. read more

Terrible business. Expensive prices (usually twice as much as unit price) for low quality food that you can find ANYWHERE else. They have absolutely no selection! There giant 24/7 sign is a lie because they close at 10pm on sundays and every holiday (found out the hard way) staff are very distant and unhelpful.
