This place is decent but extremely cramped. It got hot pretty quick in there especially as families started to pile in and it got busier. They recommend you wear the 3D glasses to see certain parts of the course which was painted with various ocean life. It was a cool concept but a very short course, only 10 holes, which is definitely not standard. You can't see that it's only a 10 hole course from the front desk and the staff person never mentioned anything. It was a bit disappointing but the 3D black light under the sea theme was pretty cool. Luckily we attended late at night when the course was mostly empty, otherwise if it was busy, it would have felt very crowded, as the space is very small and all the courses are literally designed back to back on top of one another without any space or room between them. As cool as it design was, only getting to play 10 short holes felt very felt disappointing. We played the whole room in 15 minutes. The group in front of us finished and was going to play another round,, after voicing their disappointment in how short the course was. The staff person came out and gave them a hard time asking them them to leave. The staff was a little a bit rude about it. Highly recommend checking out this indoor 3D black light mini golf place!! With the 3D glasses, everything becomes more "trippy" so photos don't even reflect the true experience! It was so fun to play in the dark with glowing equipment and in a nautical theme. Won't spoil it but I loved how there were little secret tricks and things you could and couldn't see!! Everything went well. We lost electric a couple of times due to the storm coming in but it was a great way to stay out of the wind and play some mini golf with the family. A fun time but not long enough. To live at least 30 minutes from the beach, you can definitely find us in the area at least one time (Friday - Sunday) during the Summer months. Not sure why we were in the area on this night, but I remember we dined nearby and wanted something fun to do. I thought about this place... so here we are. The pricing is reasonable, but the duration is like a blink of the eye. There were maybe 10 holes and we finished in less than an hour. There was one family in front of us and another family joined in about 10 minutes later. We felt a little rushed with the family behind us, but all in all, this time time goes by super fast. While some holes were challenging after three or four tries... that's it move on to the next hole (course). Note that my visit was during Christmas week in December which means your experience certainly will vary if you're coming in season when I would imagine this place come become unbearably busy. This was yet another super dork Groupon find because without Groupon no way would I ever have known this place existed. Overall our visit was about textbook in every way. Parking was front and center right on 25th street. With it being the off season the meters I assumed weren't in play which worked for me because I didn't pay nor did I get a ticket. The course itself is "interesting". While you could play without the glasses my question to you would be first off, Why? And if you do, second, you're likely going to be disappointed because most of the holes are not hard. The glasses certainly have a slight disorientating effect. Think of that first shroom you took at a Dead concert or at a Phish concert. There is to a degree a similarity. Speaking of the holes. They would fall into two categories for the most part. The first grouping would best be described as super easy. These are you basic straight ahead putt-putt style holes where the obstacle is more there for show but if you can hit straight/with any kind of skill you'll do fine. The second category would be the impossible holes that either require an advanced degree in geometry and engineering to be able to hit the necessary angles needed to bank your ball or the infamous 9th hole which has a surface that makes it seem like you're putting your ball a across a skating rink. So far so good, right? Yes, but there is one huge drawback and that would be the price. Seven dollars a head for only ten holes is very extreme. I know this course is unique but when you extrapolate that cost to what it would take to play 18, if they had 18 holes to play, you come up with a number that bumps up against what huge themed mini golf courses are charging in Florida or in Myrtle. Of course the difference is that while the 3-D/Blacklight thing is a neat gimmick, it's really not that neat to be paying this price. But, at least right now there is a way out and it is Groupon. 50% off which makes everything much better and if you can combine one of their 20% off promo codes to the price...well you see where I'm going with this. We showed up right after they opened, which currently is at Noon, and aside of one other family we had the whole place to ourselves. Of course that meant we played most of the holes at least two or three times a piece. By the time we left 40 minutes later there was a steady stream of people coming in and things were filling up fast. Do a little research, get your Groupon if they're still available and come have a good time because even if though the building isn't much of a looker on the outside the course itself is a hell of a lot of fun. read more

After feasting at Captain George's, my friends and I needed something or somewhere to walk it off and serendipitously found this 3D glow in the dark mini-golf which seemed like a great spot for kids but also for three adult men just wanting to walk down memory lane. Small location with 10 small holes. The glasses you wear gave us all headaches, but you can take them off and just play like normal. We did put them on from time to time to test out the 3D effect, which is actually kind of cool. The whole experience was nice for our 4 and 6 year olds, but I wish it had lasted longer. Appeal exists as an indoor escape on a hot day or cold off-season day but after going once, I'm not sure there's a need to return, especially since the DARE program taught me to "Just Say No" to psychedelic mushrooms! Don't get me wrong, the intentionally dark, neon painted, music playing, black lit facility was semi-cool. Though that sounds like a dorm room, it wasn't but was cramped like one. Regular price is $7/pp for 10 holes, so buy the Groupon! Limited parking available: 8 spaces on 25th street (metered in season) and a very small lot around the back. I brought our boys this weekend for a private birthday party. $150 gets you 90'ish minutes of unlimited golf and exclusive use of the space for ~15'ish kids and accompanying adults. $4 per child thereafter. You can bring in your own food/beverage/desserts! 2 restrooms are available in the dedicated party room but 1 had a table in front of it. The one I went in appeared clean. FYI, there's a rear party room door accessible from the back parking lot, useful for load in/out. Again, this underwater Neptune themed space is pretty small so golf balls frequently migrate to other holes. Not a biggy since everyone in our party knew each other. I'd imagine this could be a tad aggravating during open play hours. The attendant/employee wasn't very social. Seemed to be there to monitor the door, hand out clubs/balls and accept payment. I did see her spray/wipe some glasses. Still, our boys and their friends seemed to have a good time, with and without 3D glasses. A few kiddos did say the environment was starting to give them a headache, remedied by taking them outside for some (39 degree) fresh air. read more

I cannot deny that I had a ball here with my kids. I can honestly said I did not see that coming. I have said NO to my kids wanting to come here for so many years that I caved in last week and said oh well. From the outside the place looks totally dive. That should have been a clue for me to check it out right? We went in on a weekday morning with no other customers. I looked for coupons in Sunny Days, but found none. I knew it would be more than what it was worthy and found the $7 per head with no discounts for kids to be price for 10 holes of mini golf. The male attendant was very nice and friendly. The clubs, balls, score cards and pencils are given to you along with the most important items of all...3D glasses. So on hole #1 we all put our glasses on and I must say it is pretty darn freaky and in spectacular kind of way. I would have never thought that it would be that cool, but it was. Everything just comes out at you and if you feel disoriented don't be surprised. The club even has paint on it giving it a 3D feel and strangely enough you can't even tell if your club is level. After we all did horrible on this hole we kicked them off to try our luck on #2 and did better. Your group can decide on, or off of the glasses. Either way these shore little holes offer challenge. We had a blast with them and never got a hole in one. The favorite hole of most is #9 and a must to keep the glasses on. You will swear your hitting the ball straight and it will roll all over the place on a slightly uneven floor...those stinkers! Allow around 30 min to play, or it could be longer I suppose when they are busy. There is also a party table in the back where the restrooms are for groups. When back in the area I did hit up the restrooms and found them clean. As a matter of fact the whole place was clean with only one piece of debris on the course. So why not a 5 after such a glowing review? The price is steep to me for around 25-30 min of play. Also, when asking the attendant about coupons he said they are around, but did not offer where. I found out just after walking out that the Monster book had $1 off coupons. It would have been easy for him to just say that, he did not have to supply us with them. Heck for a $3 saving I would have went around the corner and grabbed them. Something to also consider is the amount of competition with mini golf that are larger and more reasonable. This is only one of two indoors, could be a pro if rain, con if nice day. Do a little research to find what best suit your family, or group. Overall I definitely recommend this place as a fun outing with friends, family and the kids. There is no way you will not have a great time. read more

King Neptune saves the day! On a hot and humid summer day at Virginia Beach, my family was in the mood to be active, have fun, yet not melt in the unrelenting July sun. That's the genius of this place...it's indoor, AIR CONDITIONED and just long enough to keep the attention of our four year old boy. The course is challenging at times with a few easy holes to give your little dude confidence that he can indeed pay golf. The 3D glasses and black light enhance the gameplay and add to the degree of difficulty. Due to the size of the course, large groups can make for slow play (we played behind a family of 8). I could imagine on a rainy summer day, the place could really get packed. As for price, it's a great value...the little guy played for free! I came here on a Saturday night with my 17 year old daughters and we loved it here!!! We came here because the mini golf down the street was a 1 hour + wait and I'm glad we came down here. Golf here was $7 a person and the course is 10 holes. It was so nice let me start by saying it's a 3D black light golf course INSIDE!!! It was cool and air conditioned and just a great escape from the heat. The extremely nice young lady at the desk answered all our questions. She was sanitizing all the balls, clubs and 3D glasses as they were handed in. I'd 100% be back and for the price who can say no? Much better then waiting in line outside with 300 screaming little kids, while sweating through my clothes with the humidity. If you're leery about going inside because it may look a little shady on the outside trust me we thought the same thing too but we were extremely happy and so was my wallet and it was a lot of fun. It was a relatively cheap excursion but the entire course is in one room the size of a garage. They don't present this to you and you don't know until you pay and enter. There is also nowhere to stand if you're golfing with other people and all of the holes are connected so you could hit your ball into the next one by accident very easily. read more

This place gets 3.5 stars from me, a little more than the "A-OK, 3 star" rating! :) King Neptune's is different from most putt-putt golf spots because it's indoors, has black lights, and is 3D, thanks to the glasses provided upon entering. It's pretty trippy. Even when my eyes adjusted a bit, I still felt dizzy and like my eyes were crossing. So I played most of the 10 holes without them on. The place is small, but again, it's only a 10 hole game. Some shots are more tricky than others, and I didn't get a single hole-in-one. Oh well, still fun. The place is clean. There's a "party room" in the back. Whoever painted the murals is very talented & did a great job - it's an "Under the Sea" theme of course. It's dark, and with the black lights, and the 3D glasses, it totally adds to the experience! I don't know the normal admission prices, but we had a groupon, so my bf & I both played for only $5. Be on the lookout for it if you have the app or get their emails. Definitely a cool little spot, you should check it out at least once! read more
