The staff was rude and the policy on the small child trainers SUCKED!! I wrote a review on Google and their response was that was their policy and it was posted in many places. This was my first-time skating in YEARS (at least 10 plus) haha. But I am glad we have a place like this in the VB area. We arrived on an early and rainy Saturday afternoon thinking this placed would be PACKED but it was actually not very busy - but it did start getting much busier, closer to the 4-5PM time frame though. This place wasn't as big as I thought it would be - felt kind of cramped...? It has a small arcade area, maybe 30 games or - standard D&B type of games. The reward zone was lacking some cool prizes so if you're looking to redeem something cool, you'll be severely disappointed. They have 4 food stalls and they had burgers, pizzas, nachos, sandwiches, boba, wings, etc. They even had adult beverages too! Prices were pretty standard. I was just excited that they had nachos :-) They also have a small jungle gym area - I think mainly for kids between the ages of 4 and 12 which was a nice touch. As far as the skating rink, it's not small by any means but it's not huge either. I was able to skate without having to dodge too many people. I am sure towards the evening hours it can get a bit crazy! I would love for them to take song requests which I think would be fun. Prices for the skate rentals was very affordable especially since it wasn't time constricted. Something was off about the vibe of this place for me - it almost seemed like it wasn't "popping" to me. Was missing the wow factor and I didn't feel excited? This is a cool place to check out if you don't have anything else to do. Looks like a good place to have a kids birthday party though. read more

I took my family here for a birthday party over the weekend. It was pretty cool with the play area, arcade games, and a small rink that the littles kids were using. I loved the option to rent push cart walker thingies for the really small kids. However, the touch tunes jukebox is apparently not connected to any speakers at all so the songs we bought for the birthday girl never played. Instead the DJ/playlist situation is what was heard on the skate floor which for some reason included WAP. At 2PM. During children's birthdays. I'm not joking. It wasn't even the "cleaned up" version of the song. Disgusting. I didn't complain to anyone about it because I wasn't a paying customer and there'd be no way to unhear it anyway but I'd have been SUPER pissed if it was my daughter's party. I'm surprised they still opened during COVID, but I will give it to them for checking people's temperature before entering. I guess that's there little safety measure. I went on a Saturday and of course weekends are pretty busy but I was able to still keep a good social distance from others. This place can keep you busy all afternoon with skating, eGames, arcade games, a little play area and even a small skating area for the kids. However, I saw grown adults in there skating without having a kid with them. So if I had a little one who needs to skate, I would be little concerned. I guess they weren't good enough to go to the big kids side and skate. But anyways, there's food vendors and Jelly Ball Boba! I went in just to check the place out and left but when it's really safe out here, I'll come back and do some skating and stay a while. We had a small birthday party for my grandson. We paid over $350 for the pizzas and package deal and were supposed to be served the food at six-thirty, it came at 754!!! Little kids and adults waiting. The room next door was served 3 times. We got a small apology, "extra time" in room. Oh goody, to eat the late pizza. We went 2 separate times, ordered and paid extra for pizza and picked up 2 and still had not gotten our pre paid pre ordered pizza. There truly is something for everyone at every age. I didn't Rollerskate or eat but I did play the games. Definitely very flashy and more modern. Loved the big Pac Man and Down the Clown. But they have games for every age level. Fishing, motorcycles, play area, beginner roller rink, skee ball and bowling. All games are modern and flashy. But they even have a dart board....just one....but you can bring your darts. Great place to bring a family or have a birthday party. I would go back....I would imagine it would be fun at night and probably loud. Also there is plenty of parking and they have places for photo ops. Very cool place. read more

Before I begin this review let me start off by saying that this review is based solely on my opinion and my opinion alone so with that being said let's go!. Unfortunately I don't have much of a review on this establishment because when we arrived at 10:00 there was an hour wait in between because they told us that's when they did their cleaning of their skates and other stuff I believe and I'm all for cleanliness. No A/C! DO NOT GO HERE UNTIL FALL. This place was cool. Spacious and the staff was friendly. However, there is no A/C. After 10 minutes everyone in our group was sweating so bad we decided to leave. They had fans running but that couldn't handle the heat. I felt bad for the staff that have to sit there all day. It was brutal. But they were very sweet and apologetic for the heat. This is one of the best skating rinks in the 757! I absolutely love coming here on Saturday nights. When they have a D.J., this is a jam skater's paradise! Their floor is smooth and spacious and they have a practice/kiddie room if the main floor is too overwhelming for you or if you're a beginner. I love that this rink has great amenities including amazing places to eat. You can grab rolled ice cream, bubble tea, fish baskets, beer and more while you're here! Yes - it's definitely not your average skating rink. I will say, the pricing is a little high - but I'm always able to get in hours of skating here with my friends, so it's definitely worth it. This place is definitely what we need in Virginia Beach. Bringing back the love, fun and hype of roller skating but within a modernize facility. I love the decor and theme. I like how they have brought in different vendors and pieces of Virginia Beach. It's a really cool place with lots of vibe. There is a huge skating rink and a small rink for little kids. There is an indoor play ground, arcade, many other games, and even an escape room. A couple of the restaurant vendor is a tap house and boba tea. We were here for a birthday party. The party room was very spacious. The pizza delicious. The service was horrible. I don't know what is wrong with everyone working here. No one has customer service. No one smiles. No one has a pep in their step. They look miserable. All of them! They weren't attentive to the party and all the food were late. They made us go get napkins at the front desk and remind them we needed the drinks. It was just horrible. Prices for the party and for just casual skate are reasonable. This place is amazing!! Fun for everyone! The staff is so friendly, they are like family. Parties galore, games where all skaters participate. Prizes! Great music! Horrible experience Had my daughters 8th bday party here and the customer was horrible! From start to finish just poor service all around! It's a shame because the facility is nice(beside the filthy door that needs cleaning when you enter) but the employees at the front counter are just bad. When I booked the party they didn't specify the specifics of entering your room a couple minutes early for set up! In addition I had to go hunt down more napkins and utensils they claimed to provide Worse of all they didn't check on us at all and at the end of the party came in telling us infront of our kids that the party was over! Just poor service all around. On a side note... the food vendor who makes the ice cream and tea were very pleasant and helpful! They gave us napkins when the front desk held out and let us use their knife! The birthday parties are not cheap- a customer deserves to get what they pay for! We had people in attendance that are business owners and couldn't believe the service! This was our first experience at sk8 house and will certainly be the last! It's a super cool concept and buying a monthly pass is definitely worth the price... $55 vs paying almost 20 every time you come with rentals. My kiddo and I are learning to skate together. This rink is pretty close to my house so we'll be coming as frequently as possible. I really enjoy the smaller rink with mirrors it's easier to skate on and you can check your foot positioning. There's some iffy things like the rink floor condition.. for new skaters it's a bit scary LOL polished concrete but in many spots it's very rough and unnerving to skate over. Seasoned skaters are probably fine but I definitely stumble.. and a lot of the rough spots are along the wall where newbies tend to cling when they first begin skating. Another issue is the skate conditions-- the inlines, spec. They are limited I understand that. I've gotten one set of skates that had a single sole in them the rest I've tried are missing the soles. They're really uncomfortable and the laces are inconsistently too long or too short. On Saturday the toe of my skates actually came completely apart while I was skating where my foot slid forward and came out of the boot. I didn't get hurt but i am going to buy my own skates for next month if I get another skate pass. Other than some little issues that can be taken care of with time we really enjoy coming here even if it's for a small amount of time. There's a lot to do even if you're not skating for a good price! Place is decent but they're not very organized. If you ask to schedule lessons, which they advertise, you'll get different answers from different employees. I've had my number taken down by some employees, I've been referred to the website, filled out some application, never hear a word back. We've been there a few times now. Although there were some positives and my kids mostly said they enjoy it, I left with a bad impression on how the place was run. The area with tables was sticky and dirty. The skate rentals were disgusting and we had to try several pairs before we found ones that didn't have issues like sharp parts inside or laces that were too short. It's nice that they had a play area but it was gross and dirty. Somebody shoved candy wrappers all up inside in hole in a plastic window portal-piece on the outside of the play place. Staff could have easily seen it and cleaned it. They announced on a microphone that parents may not sit on balance beams in front of the play playground, but they did not provide any seating beyond the dirty tops of cubbies in the corner which was already full. Why didn't they just put a bench behind the balance beam? When the lady went on the microphone to remind people of the rules (such as not sitting on the kids' balance beams, as mentioned) she just had a really exasperated tone that left a bad taste in my mouth. It felt like she was representing the venue but she was super annoyed that people actually came. Somewhere around 7, a large group of teenage boys started getting very rambunctious and loud. N-words and threats were flying and then kids started punching each other in the back seating area behind the rink. Teens were openly flashing gang signs to each other. It probably didn't help that the dj was weaving in gangster rap into the mix. The teens ended up getting asked to leave, but I felt like it took too long for that to happen. They just don't have enough staff to manage so many people, most of the building is not monitored and stuff like teenage altercations can escalate before anyone notices. I also feel like the staff didn't have the right customer-service focused attitude to keep the place as clean as it ought to have been or as friendly. On a positive note, the food was good. And the staff of "Casual Eats" is super friendly and helpful. But as I understand their business is not affiliated with the sk8 house. I wouldn't say that I don't recommend this place but I'd definitely recommend bringing your own skates if you can and coming during the day not the evening. read more

So fun!!! Love this new skating rink in lynnhaven. The murals are so pretty and local for va beach. I love all the touches. We got skating passes and for 2 kids and 1 adult it ended up being over $40. The good thing about it is that you can leave and then come back. The price you pay is good for the entire day. There's lots to do inside and you don't have to just roller skate. There is also a great selection of food that you can order for their mini food court. My family and I love coming here. The atmosphere is nice. I like being able to order food, drinks, and treats from different restaurants here. There's a small rink for kids or to practice, and the big rink for others. There is a play structure to keep little ones busy if they choose not to skate. And the music is great. read more

It's amazing how horrible customer service and one person can destroy the impression of a business. We had my daughters birthday party here last year and she had the best experience. We come to SK8 house at least twice a month with friends. Wednesday 8/16 I took my daughter and friends for her birthday again! The man who checked us in upon arrival, was super helpful and nice. Fast forward to around 8:30, one of my daughters friends went outside to grab her overnight bag from her Mom. She then texted my daughter that the lady with the red and black locks advised her she could not come back inside because they don't anyone back in after 8:30. When my daughter and her friends went to explain she was with us and only went out to pickup her overnight bag, the lady yelled through a bullhorn in there ears and said she doesn't care and that her "hoodrat friend" have to wait outside until we left. Keep in mind, it's dark outside and she's a 13 year old girl. Her Mom decided to just wait with her until we all came out since it was close to closing and we would be leaving in approximately 30 minutes. Upon the last song being played at 9, the same lady with the red and black locks started yelling in the blow horn in everyone's face to hurry up and take their skates off because they are now closed. I told my daughters and their friends to take off the skates and hurry up. She then, continues to go between all the kids yelling in the blow horn to hurry up. Some skates laces were in knots so I was helping get them off. She's pacing back and forth rolling her eyes for these few minutes saying rude comments. I ignored it because I know everyone can have a bad day. Plus it was my daughters 13th birthday so I didn't want to over shadow it with unnecessary conflicts. To be honest, when she was yelling in the horn some of the kids were laughing being kids. They're 12-13 but none of them said anything disrespectful. I told them all to stop laughing and take their skates to return them. The lady begin to say curse words! I heard say," don't bring your ghetto asses back here!" "Y'all can get it!" "Hurry your asses up!" "Damn let's go!" Finally, I turned around as we were walking towards the exit and said, " you realize that your cursing and being very disrespectful to a bunch of kids!" She then began to curse me out. Then as we were going out the door, a guy or women( I couldn't really tell what they were) was standing at the entrance and started yelling at the kids cussing as well. Saying "get y'all ugly asses out of here!" They began to get very aggressive cursing and yelling. I'm not one to indulge in conflict. As we stand outside, waiting for other parents to pick there kids up, a Mom walks up and stated she was on the phone with her daughter while the lady was cursing and yelling. Overall, that was a terrible experience and I can certainly assure you that we will never return and will be sure to let everyone we know who frequents this location to never go back. I can understand it can be frustrating working with kids but to yell and curse at other people's children is never ok. If there was any issues she could have addressed me directly. When I looked at my phone when exiting, it was 9:07. So it wasn't as if it took everyone a long time to leave. There was about 20 of us and I spent a good amount of money between skating, skate rentals, the arcade and food while waiting. I will most certainly will Never return and she needs to go to find a new profession because clearly she has anger issues and issues dealing with the public. If I wasn't a women who was raised with morals, values and taught to be respectful of others that situation could have went another way. read more

On my way to Sk8 House to see my Sk8 house family! My favorite staff "Lady Smurf " will surely be there serving her audacious smile and ever helpful spirit. She's a ride or die skater who teaches kids to grandparents in between running around making sure everyone is safe on the floor. The regulars are there all the time too, like Ben and Moe. My baby girl and I are there at least twice a week or more during school days and more in summer. The parties are nonstop! I love the family atmosphere and love watching the more experienced skaters do their thing in the ring. The kids play area, the food, treats, adult drinks make it a place for everyone!! Check out the Emcee spinning the best music ever!!!!! The cost is perfect! If you don't come here you will be missing out on the best place to skate. I dare you to try it, you won't be disappointed. The floor was sooo smooth and the wheels of the skates were nice and loose. Theres a smaller floor for little ones to practice on without fear of bigger people which I loved! It was clean with a groovy atmosphere, friendly staff, and lots of other things to do for the non skaters! I wanna give 5 stars but the skates left brown marks on my white socks and stank a bit so they were pretty dirty inside. They were also a bit pricey. Fun to skate, but HORRIBLE to throw a party in their party room. They wouldn't let me in ten minutes early to set up so we stood around with twenty eight year olds until it was exactly noon to go in the room and get settled in. When the food & drinks came out, they didn't provide plates, napkins, silverware, or cups (as they claimed they would) and I had to go find someone to get those while a group of kids simply looked at the pizza. They tried to charge me extra for the plates after I explained there wasn't any in the first place. Noone came around to help us turn the lights off for the room (switch was somewhere else) to blow out the candles. We notified of the stressful customer service with no email response. Never. I have frequented this establishment on many occasions with my family and was hoping to continue until now. While enjoying the day with my daughter, wife and one of her friends i was asked to leave the establishment. Apparently my legally possessed, highly trained in use, concealed firearm (must have printed or become visible while assisting my daughter) upset a customer and for "the safety" of their clientele I would need to remove said firearm from the building. I graciously declined to take said tool to my vehicle and I drove home to secure it and return. The ONLY reason I entertained this nonsense was to not interrupt my child's enjoyment. Needless to say we will not return, and for those who take the safety and security of yourself and family, i'd suggest the same. Jot this establishment down as a criminal carry only business. Great spot to take the family. Service is awesome. You can only hear so clearly in a loud environment . But the staff are very friendly. There is so much going on it's crazy to just be focused. Music is awesome shout out to the Dj killing the jams . It's crazy busy on a Saturday so plan ahead and get some awesome skates too. Was in the area looking for bubble tea and Yelp located the closest one near us, the Jelly Ball which to our surprise is located in a skating ring. Was going to look for another bubble tea place, because we didn't have time to skate that day but noticed Chef Skip, a food truck that used to come to our neighborhood was also located at the skate ring. The SK8 house looked pretty cool, there was a arcade, little kid play area, foosball, corn hole and party rooms. We where mainly there for lunch. The food at Chef Skip is always delicious and the drinks we got at Jelly Ball were good too. read more

One of the worse skating rinks I've ever been to. The floor is concrete and very uneven not a very pleasant environment to skate on. I was under the impression that there were things for the children to do but they only have a play area everything else you have to pay to play. This would be OK If these play items were in good shape but the foosball table was atrocious And the fee that they expected you to pay to play ping-pong was outrageous. Not a pleasant place to come to spend the day unless you want to spend a crap ton of money to play on dirty old play things. Needs a definite upgrade. read more

Super fun! With this funky weather, there is such limited things to do indoors with family and young kids. The fact that their children's play area is free is amazing. They even have size 7 toddler shoes so my toddlers were able to skate as well. They offer the little skating aids so kids can roll around with extra balance. One downfall is that almost all of the restaurants were closed on a weekday and you're not allowed to bring in any outside food. Casual eats was open for only 30 minutes after we got there, so our friends that arrived later were not able to eat. There was no available food until they reopened at 5pm. I'm not sure if any of the other places were scheduled to open at 5 as well, but you should call ahead to make sure. The burgers from casual eats were surprisingly really good! It's on par with a taphouse/brewery you'd find somewhere near the water. I did not expect that from a roller rink. I also did not expect to get those crispy beer battered fries! My absolute favorite kinda fry! The food was also fairly priced for being conveniently located inside the food court. During our 4 hours there, I did not see employees wiping down used dining tables, cleaning the bathrooms, benches, etc. My friends kid walked around back behind the play area and it was filled with dirt and dust. That area looks as though it was never cleaned. It makes me wonder if they actually actually clean the play area. They also did not wipe down the balance aids we returned. I'm not docking stars for this, but the lack of sanitization could be a reason why I haven't seen people return after their first visit. All in all, this was a fun experience. read more

Sk8 house is my ideal place for a fun afternoon! We came by around 3PM to avoid the crowd and skated while lessons were going on. The people there were friendly and the overall vibe was really inviting. The non-skating activities and the snack bar just enhanced the whole experience. My only little complaint is that they should have more inline skates. I think they had a few but the largest size at the time of our visit was a 5. But the quads were fun anyways! read more

I really enjoy skating here. It's clean and the staff and patrons are all very nice. HOWEVER.... sometimes the music they play during the evening is just.... bleh. Last week there were mabye 15 people there... on a Tuesday night. People had been commenting that they wanted to hear some music we could groove to instead of what they were choosing play at that time. We even asked if they could play something more upbeat.... didn't happen. They also advertise a phone number on their TVs that you can text to request songs.... they shut the TVs off after we asked for different music. The playlist coming through the main rink speakers sounded like it had been curated by the Disney channel (Bruno Mars ballads, Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers to name a few). No one was feeling it. There people skating around with headphones on so they didn't have to listen to the playlist chosen by Sk8 House. I understand that this is a family/kid friendly business. There were literally NO kids there. Read the room guys. Please. Also during this pandemic I really think that their cap on the number of people they will allow in the building at one time (250) is really irresponsible. Granted, there are never that many people there at once and I know revenue is important..... but it's just not a good look right now. read more

DO NOT BOOK A PARTY HERE! Very unprofessional and unresponsive. $1100 to book the speakeasy room for 3 hours and included absolutely nothing. They don't let you come in early to set up but an employee made an "exception" this time. The room is for 21and up but an employee stays in the room the entire time to chaperone like you're children. The TV is broken, and you can't play music. A complete waste of money. read more

This is a beautiful and fun destination for my 7 yo daughter and our family. To me Sk8 is still one of the best places in the Hampton roads area to go if you are a kid or an adult. They have great ambiance filled young adult/adult skating rink, younger kids/beginner skating rink, variety of games, table tennis, party rooms, escape and upstairs retro bar! Music is great and love the hand painted artwork on wall! Lots of energy, vibrance and ambiance at very reasonable price. Super nice staff with great service!
